I love, love, love this location. The selection of clothes and accessories is super fantastic. The fitting rooms are plenty and the store is very organized and clean. Their jewelry collection & handbags are outstanding too. Most of the staff are welcoming except a few crabs especially the woman who came from Once Upon a Child in Westlake. (Always Horribly Nasty). Never in my ENTIRE life have I ever felt more uncomfortable inside a store. There is such a bad energy and vibe in this store I could not wait to get out. There were two younger gals working and two older gals (my age) The two young gals were sweet the older gals need to go home and never come back. It's hard to explain the energy in there but after reading the reviews I now get it. Growing up in a 2nd hand shop alongside my Mom and owning my own second hand shop I can tell you the prices are out of line. Overstocked inventory and persnickety employee attitude. What a shame -- this place used to be great! Over the past three years, their clearance section has grown massively and inventory never moves from it! Clearance is 1/3 of the store now. The racks are so packed here it's more like a thrift store. If CM wasn't so fixated on sunken cost of these clearance items, they could actually set up the merchandise to where it's an enjoyable experience to browse again. Over the past year I've had bad experiences there, but kept giving them a chance. Now, the inventory is just more geared to women in their 60's, and the customer service has worsened. Every time I go to this store, the cashiers are rude and condescending. The sales people act like you are bothering them when you bring in clothing to sell. Forget it if you need any help with shopping. I brought in a bag of small accessories, and a box of laundered and folded or new with tag clothing. The brands I had included Calvin Klein, Betsy Johnson, Hilfiger, Santana, Givenchy, etc. After shopping while waiting for almost an hour, they took some of the small accessories, but did not even look through the box. When I asked why, they said they already had enough of the stuff I brought in. I don't think so because I shopped the entire store for an hour. Again, they did not even look at any of the like new or new clothing I brought in. Tired of the uppity snotty attitude at this store. I've been meaning to review this location for awhile but always hesitate. The struggle for me is that I love shopping here - I'm all about a good deal and I'm in full support of all things being reused. I come here weekly and usually find at least one thing, if not an whole bag, to buy. On the other hand. . . . . . My otherwise positive experience is extremely affected by the staff. As has been mentioned in other reviews, they are rude. I regularly overhear them making negative comments about customers. They do not smile at me or acknowledge I exist. They are short and snippy with every response. In particular: Therese. She has actually scolded me like a child. When I walk in and see she is working I instantly tense up. For a long time I have kept this to myself because I do recommend this place to others and I do like it. Recently though, I was at the east side location and I could not believe how different my experience was. The staff greeted me, smiled at me, helped me and even offered to hold my selections while I shopped. My intent is not to tear down or take away business. The staff, especially the older woman with dirty blonde shoulder length hair, are extremely rude. As soon as customers leave she complains about them. This location is brand-consistent with Clothes Mentor. Gently-used, upscale clothing at a fraction of the cost of the original retail. This location was a little tricky to find; it's in a shopping center that is down a birm on Lorain Rd. I missed it on my first pass and had to drive back by another time to find it. No matter. Once I walked in the door I recognized the layout, selection, and prices. This store was smaller than some of the other CM locations I have been to. I looked for jeans but couldn't find what I was looking for in my size today. Even though I walked out empty handed, it wouldn't stop me from popping in again. It's all about timing and a little bit of luck with any shopping. I've never sold here, so I can't speak to the selling experience. But for shopping, I'd give it 3 stars just since it's small and thus doesn't have the same variety that other CM locations offer. read more

I buy so many clothes there, I love that part but I hate going because of the RUDE employees. I talked to the owner about it once and she stuck up for the employees! How many reviews does there have to be about this for some change? Unbelievable . The owner doesn't give a rip about the customers either. This resale store doesn't technically open until next week, but they are buying clothes from women. There are only 2 other locations in Ohio, but many others across the country. The concept is the same as Plato's Closet; if the clothing has been sold in retail within the past 2 years, they will buy your old clothes from you for cash. Unlike consignment, you don't have to wait around until the item sells to get paid. The store is jam packed currently and sells juniors and womens sizes (0-20 or something like that). The selection was really good and the prices less than retail. Also, there are a zillion of Dooney and Bourke purses if you are into that (I am not). But, that is a rant for another day. read more

Service is very nice. Place is clean, quiet, rarely busy, and extremely well organized. Its pretty small, so it doesn't take long to look through everything. The selection isn't extremely abundant, but nearly all of the clothing looks brand new or taken very well care of. It is, however, definitely pricey, and probably the priciest secondhand store I've been in. All in all, I've gotten some great stuff from here, especially during their sales if you come early on those days. Selling is hit or miss. The first time I came in they gave me 90 bucks for my stuff, the second time they only took one brand new sweater from Ny&co out of an entire clothing bin and gave me 2 bucks for it. Did I pitch a fit or go home and cry about it? No. And I will say the same thing as I did on my review for Plato's Closet: they aren't obligated to buy your stuff so let go, put your big girl pants on (maybe the ones they didn't buy from you), and either donate it or sell it online if you're that concerned with getting your money back. Or, just take it next door to Plato's to see if they'll buy it from you. read more

Of the clothes mentors around Cleveland, I would rank this one lowest. The designers aren't as in demand as other locations, the store is small (but clean), and well organized. There are no racks for clothing available online or designer like at other locations. A lot of the clothes seem to be intended for an older audience-- perhaps this is because the Plato's nearby takes Jcrew and more adult brands. I had a bad interaction with the staff here. I called ahead and asked if they were being very picky at the time because of space and what they were looking for and the woman on the phone said they weren't overly-scrutinizing inventory, taking everything. I brought my things in and looked around-- the employee rushed me to wrap up browsing so she could close out my transaction. Of two tubs of great condition clothing they were taking two things. she said, "sorry you had great stuff we're just being really picky with inventory right now." And when I told her that I had driven a considerable distance because I was told the opposite she ARGUED with me. As if I would lie? I won't be going back to sell or buy. So sorry! read more

Clothes Mentor is my dream store. Lots of nice, quality clothes at amazing prices. They also seem to have a lot of deals, such as 20 percent off or spend $30 dollars, get $10 dollars off. Always a great selection and many different brands and price points. They also are very diligent about sanitizing. The store is very clean. Employees are friendly. I never leave empty handed. Typically, I love Clothes Mentor. What's better then searching for a gem hidden among used clothing?! This Clothes Mentor made it impossible with all of their nice clothing being hidden away until tomorrow. When I asked if they were having a sale tomorrow, the workers replied with a no and said that I would just have to come back if I wanted to see what was under them. I had the worst experience at the Great Northern location on Friday Jan 15th,2021. I noticed a 70 percent off sign in the window, so I decided to stop in and brought a friend with me since we are both shoeaholics. One of the OWNERS made the rudest and shocking comments after I asked a simple question. Which was... What are these dots on the bottom of the shoes? Are these on sale? Her response was "The Goodwill has colored dots on their merchandise so you know whats on sale, PERHAPS you got the two confused." How dare she respond with such a ignorant, presumptuous and snotty remark . So if I sell and buy something from this store I must be a Goodwill shopper??? in her small narrow mind. (She) one of the owners, should have answered the question as she started and state its for inventory purposes only. Yet she inserted her foot in her mouth and exposed her privilege with such an inappropriate response. Needless to say I will never sell or buy from any of the Clothes Mentor Stores since all three are owned by the same individuals. (Her) apology was not accepted, and I feel badly for the good employees that work there that have to endure her snobbish behavior. Designer Consignor in Lakewood has a far better rating and you are treated with RESPECT. If this is how this owner views consumers that shop there shame on her. I found for resale store their prices are very high. I tried to sell a few items and none were taken. The condescending woman up front said two items smelled heavily of smoke . I do not smoke no one in my house or family smokes. Ah the mystery smell of smoke! Regardless everything was washed and cleaned prior to taking it in. I did see a pair of shoes that I like but they were marked at $28 for a pair of used shoes. I'm going to have to take a pass on that place. read more

they have a descent variety of clothes, but you might want to think twice about trying to sell something. they are very very picky....i have tried twice to sell a laundry basket full of clothes, some of them new with tags on it, and they declined almost all of them. the clothes were in good shape and most of them were from macy's or dillards, but they said they were going to pass on them. read more

I have so many negative things to say about this place, I'm not even sure where to begin. I'll start by talking about the employee with the bob haircut and annoying voice (yes, that's rude of me to say- but trust me she has said and done far worse things to me as well as other customers- you'd think she'd at least try to be discrete when making fun of people shOpping in the store). She is SO incredibly rude every time I've been in there. She has treated me like garbage just blew into the store. And the icing on the cake was when I saw her down the road at Goodwill the other day. She was on top of me not at all following any social boundaries in a normal world, let alone a pandemic world. She was quickly going through racks, I'm pretty confident looking for stuff to resell at a much higher price at the store. Oh and the store? Hard pass on this place. Prices are overpriced for brands, the rude bob hair lady....yeah I won't be back. I will say, aside from this one particular employee, the others have been very nice. Went to Plato's closet this morning to sell some clothes but had some brands that Plato's does not normally sell so they referred me to Clothes Mentor. I had no idea they had a sister store that was located around the corner from them. I took my clothes over there (majority of my items were from Loft) got a decent offer for them and will definitely go back again and possibly sell some of my Coach bags. I've been coming here for quite some time now, both bringing clothes in for sale and purchasing. I know the drill. This most recent time I came in, the lady at the counter looked at me (with three full shopping bags of stuff) and asked if I had a return. I said no, and was confused why she would think someone would return three shopping bags full of stuff. She asked if this was my first time there, and I said no. She then said "oh, we just ask that your things be nicely folded in a basket or tote." Mind you, she hadn't yet looked in my bags and my things were nicely folded. I've never had an issue with bringing my stuff in shopping bags (I know they don't accept trash bags). The way she phrased it was very rude, particularly since I bring some pretty good stuff in. Then when she was was explaining why they didn't take my rejected items, she said I need to "clean my clothes". I have 2 cats, so a couple pairs of pants had some cat hair, but anyone with pets knows you can take something straight from the dryer out of the house and it'll still have cat hair on it. Plato's Closet took the same pants 10 minutes later so they couldn't have been too bad ‍ Overall, it's a decent place to find some good stuff, especially if there's a sale. If you sell something, don't expect much money, though it's still more than if you just dropped it in a donation box (they once offered me $6 for two pearl necklaces). But don't expect much in the way of customer service. There's a decent chance you'll end up interacting with someone who acts like you're not worth their time. read more

Great selection and great prices. Friendly staff, I had a joyful experience and purchased a pair of earrings and jeans (brand new with tags still attached $56 purchased at $16) last week. The store didn't stink like some consignment shops, their dressing rooms did not feel crammed, there wasn't headache inducing music playing, the parking lot was right outside the shopping center and the store was extremely easy to find. Every ten dollars spent gets you a stamp and once your get ten stamps you receive a 20% off discount. Can't disagree with sales off already cheaply priced brand named clothing. read more

Barely even got out of the parking lot before I got the text that they were done looking at the clothing. Most of the things in the bag were still folded and I am assuming they didn't even bother looking at half of the items. They told me everything was too worn, which was false... half of the items had the tags taken off but never even worn. They also said they weren't the brands they purchase... but it was all brands they listed on their website (loft, merona, jcrew). Horribly cranky cashiers. Will NEVER go back. I took a large basket of clothes there to sell and got 25.00 back which is fine, 25 I didn't have before. I was however irritated at the reasoning they gave me for not buying the other items off me. First the girl told me that they only buy items within a two year period. I pointed out an off the one shoulder dress that had never been worn and she said she felt that it would never be worn and that is why she didn't pick it...um its 2 month old and those dresses are certainly in style... ?? The really funny thing is the items she did buy off of me where 3-4 years old so it didn't make much sense. I thought they were pretty shady about the buying especially when there are quite a few items on the racks that definitely came out of grandmas closet. I would give it a zero if that was available! First of all I got attitude when I came in. I was struggling to get in the door and one of the employees just ignored me. Once I got in they gave me snooty look like ....you dont belong in here. I was dressed in whbm clothing. They took my basket of very nice clean stuff I grew out of with the tags still on (whbm mostly ) I I went to the back of the store to look things over and I can hear the two women who were working whispering and talking about people in the store. They took 5 Items or so and told me they were doing me a ("favor). The store was full of faded ....Stretched out crap! I think its for the 80 and over crowd. I do not reccomend shopping here, I was in the store yesterday and the elderly female cashier had the worst customer service I've ever received. She acted like I was an annoyance by asking her to see two coach purses, one of which I bought. When I asked to see the pink one her reply was "oh I was going to put that away". Really? U don't want to sell it to the customer ,isn't that what its there for? Which I wound up buying. Then I asked to see the gold coach purse on the top shelf , she looked completely confused and said sarcastically " ohhh you mean the gold AND SILVER purse". Really? There's only one gold coach purse , is it necessary to add that?? She had an awful attitude and I felt unappreciated as a paying customer. Either she has a miserable life or she hates her job. I took 5 pair of jeans in excellent condition in to be sold and they were rejected because they were "more than 2yrs old" but when the lady was talking to me she was saying i obviously take great care of my clothes because they are in great condition. Well they are in such great condition because they are less a year old. I have lost 25lbs and have gone down sizes twice but if they would call Macy's right now they would know that those jeans are being sold in their store right now because i bought a smaller size just the other day. The people buying the clothes i guess just need to be better educated on store brands...i wasnt about to make a scene in the store it was really busy with lots of people around but i doubt i will ever bring any of my clothes in there to be sold again. read more

When I first started going there I was able to find some nice selections, now I find the prices aren't much better than paying retail. They seem to accept plenty of Target clothing, but if you wait you can find it on sale AT Target. My beef is that they usually would buy several things I brought in. Now they are soo picky. They made me feel like I was bringing in inferior items that didn't meet THEIR standards. I mean it's resale ! Probably the worst customer service of any clothes mentor I've ever been in. My sister and I went to the strongsville clothes mentor and was recommended by them to bring items to sell in north olmstead. When we got there a friendly lady said they were still selling for an hour and to go ahead and bring our four boxes of stuff in. When we got to the counter though the lady that was to look through our stuff scowled and lectured us about showing up too late with stuff to sell- though we still had an hour before they stopped buying/selling. Then while looking though my sisters first tub she sighed the entire time slamming our items on the counter. She then took a few items from that tub and scanned but didn't look through the rest of her two other tubs. Then she came to my only tub and picked two items off the top and decided to "pass" on ALL without looking through the rest, one of her coworkers then proceeded to look at my stuff saying "why aren't you taking this- this is nice stuff" she then replyed - I don't want to look- I live one hour away from This clothes mentor and she didn't even look. If she looked and passed that would of been ok- but She didn't look. She said I had only teen items in the bucket -only all of my items were the loft, Jessica Simpson, Coldwater creek, worthington and old navy all even number on the sizes not a single teen item. (I rechecked when I got home) But the worst part was my sister being pregnant could not lift her boxes and I proceeded to carry them out to car my sister explaining She was pregnant - the lady then had the audacity to say with a mean glare- if you don't want to carry them Maybe you should of brought more help-(we didn't need any help really I carried them all in and planned on carrying them all out and they didn't close for another hour and a half) then turned to her coworkers and said "will you carry her tubs out this "girl" doesn't want to carry them out but she wants to keep her stuff can you believe her" Then continued onto my sister about not wanting to carry her own stuff out. She totally attacked my sister about being lazy when She is five month pregnant! Normally at strongsville or even the few times I been to the one near Akron they always offer sweetly to help you carry your items out to the curb if you have a lot even not pregnant -but this lady was rude not only the entire time making us feel like bad "girls" that showed up late and were an inconvience but wasted our time not wanting to look through what we brought and then on top of that just being plain rude. I would have to say it was probably the worst I've ever been treated at any retail store ever. We will not be back. What i can tell you about Clothes Mentor is this. They sell fake items. Went to the North Olmsted location, checked out prices on their USED Coach handbags. Total rip off! They were any where from $65 - $125 for a USED one. You can go out to Aurora Farms and buy a new Coach purse for less than what they sell it for at this place. I then went to look at the shoes. Found a pair of red leather low flat PRADA Loafers for $60. At first I thought, "NO WAY!!!!" then I started to look for the embossed serial # and the PRADA "triangle" Symbol. These (supposed) PRADA shoes had neither. Now, I know shoes. I mean I KNOW my shoes. So, I showed this to the store associates, explained to them how to determine authenticity along with some sites they can run creed #'s on designer items to determine if the items they are taking are real or replicas. The staff were seemingly open to my input but my feeling is they will put the shoes back on the shelf. I then asked how they determined their pricing for used hand bags. They informed me they base prices off of similar items sold on eBay. Really? My advice ladies? Save your money and go out to Aurora Farms to buy your designer digs. It is certain will spend less money on a brand new coach bag than a used one and at least you know what you buy at Aurora farms is authentic. read more

Worst consignment store ever!!! Took large amount of nearly used and hardly ever worn shoes that were very expensive to this store. I choose to leave the store and doing other errands as I knew it would take the employees a good amount of time to process the items. I wasn't out of that store 5 minutes and I get a text that your items have been processed! Really??? There was no way those two condescending "workers" could have gone thru those items that quickly!! They looked at a few things and decided we aren't taking all this stuff!! There rule about clothes being 2 years or newer is BS!!! I saw things hanging in that place that are definitely older than 2 years. This is my fourth and final time that I will go to this store. They give you absolutely nothing for good quality clothes and meanwhile they are making a huge profit!! There little 2 year policy is just a cover for them to not take 60% of what people bring in!!
