I brought a bunch of clothes here a few weeks ago in really great condition from brands ranging from Express, Anthropologie, Free Prople, to Rock and Republic. The sales girl text me within literally 25 minutes and told me that the buy was finished and they could not accept any of my items and recommended I bring them to Plato's closet because they were "too young" for their store. I don't know what teenager would wear a brand new suit jacket from Anthropologie. Or work dresses that I wore when I was pregnant that are now too big. There is no way Plato's closet would have taken those clothes though so I brought them to Uptown Cheapskate who bought the majority of them. The rest I sold on Poshmark. I definitely won't be back because it was a waste of time and their process does not seem to make any sense. read more

Oh these fun, kind ladies (Morgan & her Team) that work at the Westerville, Clothes Mentor! They greeted me so sweetly when I entered the store, like they were friends. "Good afternoon! What did you bring for us today?" That was so sweet and welcoming to me. I left my items with them (clothing, shoes & purses). They text me to come back when they were finished. They gave me an absolutely amazing price for the things that they took. It was worth the 1 1/2 hour trip to Westerville! I will be coming back, definitely! read more

I have been a fan of Clothes Mentor ever since I first heard of them (and the other GrowBiz companies). While I have been known to shop at Goodwill and other thrift stores, I know that for a little more money I'm guaranteed to get something that won't fall apart when I wear it. We have several Clothes Mentor shops in Central Ohio and I believe I've shopped at all of them. They are all great - it's just a matter of location and convenience. I often buy shoes - and I've been known to hit all the stores when I can't find what I'm looking for. This time, I was looking for open toed booties - something to wear now that winter is over and the temps are rising. Sure enough - I found 2 pairs of what I was looking for - one brown and one black. They are different but the same concept. I had almost bought a new pair at the Kroger Marketplace which carries clothes and shoes in addition to groceries. One new pair of brown booties cost more than both of these pairs combined. And know one will know that I bought them second hand as Clothes Mentor has pretty good standards on what it will accept for resale. The hours are good, parking is easy, two of the locations are very near to me and where I often travel. They have a rewards program, but I don't really spend enough for it to be incentive to shop there. I think once I got a reward. However, they do have good sales - sometimes pop up announcements of 20% off days and sometimes announced well in advance. They also have good sales at Christmas - the 12 days of sales with a different item reduced each day (i.e. sweaters, dresses and so on). Oh, one more thing - they have excellent selections of expensive purses. I've bought 2 Coach purses and 1 Coach wallet - at fantastic prices compared to new. I absolutely love to look at the name brand items they take in - purses, shoes, shades and other select items. As long as they are open, I will continue to gladly shop here! They make it affordable to have lots of clothes, dress fashionably and wear name brands. read more

Took 3 days for them to process my items. They accepted 4 items (one being a nice coat I had never worn), and offered me $16 total for them, with no itemized receipt. Their sister store, Plato's, offers itemized receipts. They rejected most of my stuff for random reasons. It didn't seem to make sense because I am pretty judicious with what I sell versus what I donate. What I think the case is, is that they simply have too much inventory that isn't moving and too many buys (as evidenced by a 3-4 day turnaround for processing). Someone's shirt was in my bin of items for purchase. They also had people's bins out on the sales floor. How are you guaranteeing my stuff isn't being grabbed by customers? WTH? I didn't bother to go buy the blouse I saw when I dropped off. I used to love these stores and now they are just so sad and rundown. No wonder people are moving to utilize sites like Poshmark. read more

I've been shopping here for YEARS and have had all great experiences. From the selection to the organization of items, the staff to the prices, Clothes Mentor Westerville is my go-to store when my closet is feeling tired. I've found all my favorite jeans here, and as we all know, shopping for jeans is a feat in itself. This weekend I found 2 sweaters, 2 jackets, a t-shirt and a purse. Pretty awesome place. Resale is always a mixed bag, but I hit the jackpot today on pretty much anything I got. I found a brand new Coach purse for $70, as well as a hardly used MK bag for $80. Clothes are sized from XS all the way to 2-3XL, which is refreshing to find, especially as a thick chick myself. Will def be back. read more

I have been a long time customer of the Westerville Clothes Mentor, both as a shopper and seller. It's a FABULOUS place to shop. The jewelry alone is worth the trip. Good prices on Brighton, Alex and Ani, etc. Really interesting mix of jewelry. HOWEVER. The prices are outrageous on the handbags. I saw serious wear on some Rebecca Minkoff and they were still selling much higher than they would online in that condition. Selling there is pointless. Putting in all the effort to pack up your stuff nicely bears no fruit. Today I took in a new with tags Michael Kors leather handbag, plus some good quality jewelry. They offered me FORTY DOLLARS for the bag and five pairs of earrings. The bag alone cost over $220! I can only imagine how they gauge people on their high end Louis Vuitton. It's better to try your luck with Poshmark, Ebay and other online resale. Heck it's better to use Facebook Marketplace! I love shopping their jewelry, and I think the staff is very sweet and kind, but I can't in good conscience shop there anymore. read more

I dropped off two baskets of clothes to sell and was quoted a 24-48 hour turnaround time before my items would be ready for pick up. I called after 48 hours had passed and was told that they would require ANOTHER 2 days to look through the items. Super disorganized and disappointing. read more

Went in on a break at work to sell a very gently used $398 Michael Kors backpack with tags and original duster bag. Was told I would be texted within the hour. Two hours later, I had to ask if they were done, only to find out it had been waiting for me and I was never contacted. I was offered $27 for in store credit and 22 for cash. I was shocked. I took it because I found a bag there I wanted, but was incredibly angry. I feel like I could have taken it to a pawn shop and at least gotten $50. Don't know why they think it's okay to buy bags for 27 bucks and then sell them for hundreds of dollars. Would not recommend. read more

Wow, I can't believe what they offered me for my clothes. I almost laughed bc I thought it was a joke. They claim to offer 1/3 of the price they sell their clothes for. They're lying. I took in three huge bags of plus size clothing (which they said they were in desperate need of). Here are some examples of what they offered me: $3 for Torrid Blazers, $2 for Lane Bryant jeans, $2 for Old Navy tops. So that would mean they would be selling Torrid Blazers (in perfect condition) for $9, LB jeans for $6, and Old Navy tops for $6. No way. Nothing in that store was that cheap. Most of their Blazers are priced $15-$25. I'm not even going to get into the jeans and tops. I sold the Blazers online for $35 each and took the rest to Goodwill. I'd rather GIVE my clothes away than to take this ridiculous company's offers. What a joke. read more

Do yourself a favor and DON'T. I never seem to learn my lesson, every time I drag in boxes of brand new clothing to sell to them, tags and all. I'm always so hopeful that *something* will be recognized as what it's worth from Anthropologie, JJill, Ann Taylor, etc. But, nope. They "pass" on brand name clothing- with the tags still on- and hen offer you an absurd amount for the oldest clothes in your closet. Don't waste your time sorting clothes and taking them here. Donate them to someone who will appreciate them. I've even handed them out for free in the parking lot. I've put off these consignment places for a while now. My issues have always been lack of stock for my sizes, and also lack of good quality pieces without stains, or holes in them. I've seriously been to thrift stores that had two shirts on the rack for my size and that's it. I'm not even that massive either... just in the plus size range, because I love my pizza, okay? Clothes Mentor really surprised me! Most of the clothes I looked at were in really great condition, and the prices were still ridiculously cheap, though not thrift store cheap by any means. You won't be finding shirts for $1 here, but you will find really great quality shirts for half of what you would pay in a retail setting. What really was a mind changer of this place was the fact I was able to purchase almost brand new jeans with tags still on them for around $14. Now, most plus size boutiques and stores will charge larger women around $40-70 for brand new jeans, so you can bet I was praising the Gods to find a nice pair for $14 and others were even marked 50% off of that. They have changing rooms, so try on to your hearts content, and the majority of the staff were very kind and helpful. Besides clothes, this store carries, name brand handbags, Designer Shoes, costume jewelry, belts, workout clothes, Coats, etc. Sorry guys, it's pretty much women only, but FINALLY I can rejoice and shrug off the mall stores, and find a treasure from someone's unwanted junk at a lower price. I took in two bags of clothing and they accepted them but said they normally only take clothes when in containers, not bags. I put them in bags because I didn't have any boxes or containers, and this was not made known to me when I called initially. She said she would take them, anyway, but then I got a phone several days later that NONE of my clothes were acceptable because they had to be washed/cleaned/repaired. 75% of these items were brand new and had never been worn - the rest had been cleaned before I brought them in and were probably only worn once. They wanted me to come and pick up ALL of the items (mind you, I live a half an hour away), because none of them could be sold. If they weren't going to sell them, they shouldn't have taken them in the first place. I told them to go ahead and donate all of them. The interactions I had with all of the people I talked to were unprofessional and impolite. Save your time and energy folks- DO NOT go to this place, period. read more

I use to come here as often as I could when I lived in the area. They have authentic designer purses for dirt cheap prices for what they're worth. They seem to have nice items for other commercial designers as well, but nothing that I was too interested in . I've purchased an Louis Vuitton neverfull GM for ~$300, LV ursula for $750 and other brands as well. They also had a lot of Prada, coach and other brands. This is the place for some of the best luxury designer finds by far. read more

Having been recommended this place multiple times by friends in the past and working at an upscale department store myself, I finally got around to visiting this morning on a day off to check it out for myself. While I did end up purchasing several items, I wouldn't necessarily give it the glowing reviews my friends have in every area. Clothing - five stars. Especially in special sizes, which many retailers lack, there is a wide variety. The racks were sized and color coded properly, which to me is a huge plus as I hate shopping thrift stores and want them to be neat when I do. A little hard to tell what was where (for example I didn't realize short skirts were in a different area than long ones until I stumbled on them) but excellent variety. Shoes - not as much selection in average shoe sizes. Lots of very small sizes and very large, not much for my average 8.5 range. Handbags - I was unimpressed. While there was a large selection of designer bags and they were in excellent shape, I am an expert eBay buyer and seller (in fact went in looking for potential resells) and every handbag was priced at least $10-$20, usually more like $50, higher than you could get the same or similar bag on eBay. Same with the designer boxed shoes. However, the employees were courteous and friendly, store was clean and opened on time, was well-organized and definitely worth the trip for clothing. I have had two negative experiences at the Clothes Mentor in Westerville, OH. A few months ago, I stood in line to purchase one item. There was a lady in front of me who had many items, and naturally, the woman at the cash register took time to ring everything up. I was not so much bothered by the amount of time I had to wait because of another customer's items, but I was bothered that I had to wait when I saw that there was at least one other woman working behind the counter who was evaluating items to sell. She looked at me a couple times, and although I do not know for sure, I think it was pretty obvious that I only had one item to check out, and the process would be pretty quick. She did not come over to ring my item out. The woman at the cash register and her were talking casually, not seeming to care that I only had one item and was behind someone with a lot of items. Then, as I finally got up to the cash register, another customer came to the woman who was about to ring me out to ask if someone could open up the dressing room for her. The lady at the cash register said, "hang on, I need to put on my shoes." I looked down and saw that her bare feet were on the carpet, and not only did I have to wait even longer (past fifteen minutes) to have a door unlocked for someone else, but I had to wait for her to put on HER SHOES. Finally, the other associate behind the counter who was evaluating items to sell offered to ring out my item, and I was on my way. Also, a couple weeks ago, my husband went to pick up an online order for me. They seemed to be puzzled by his question, and it took them a while to find it in the back room. I'm all about supporting local businesses and resale stores, but the unprofessionalism at Clothes Mentor (at least in Westerville) is unreal, and the shopping experience is so frustrating that I feel desperate for a deal, and I'd rather not go because the associates are clique-ish, and don't really seem to care about common courtesy for their customers. The Clothes Mentor website also does not have an option to give feedback; customers can fill out a survey, but they can't submit written feedback to explain specifics of their experiences. I may check out other locations, but unless I'm in the mood to not care about poor customer service, I most likely will not be back at the Westerville location. read more

I started going to the Clothes Mentor in Upper Arlington. I liked it for the first couple months a couple years ago. Every time I have tried to take clothes in, they say my clothes are older than the 2 years "rule" and when they have accepted like maybe a total of 5 things in all the times I've tried to sell to them, they only give me like $10 for all of it. THEN, every time since, I know for a fact the merchandise hanging up for sale is wayyyyyy older than 2 years. Sometimes it's more outdated than Goodwill clothing. I am done!!! I will not step foot in another one of these places again. I am also DONE with Once Upon A Child....they feed you the same crap there too and of course it's owned by the same company!!! read more

Service, selection not worth the trip. You'll find a better selection, especially for high-end brands, at smaller, local stores. And, don't even think about reselling your items at this business. If your items get you more than $75, a prepaid debit card is issued--not cash. The "convenient" card is a complete hassle. I was even charged $1.00 to speak with a customer service rep about the card. I've never been fully impressed with Clothes Mentor because I think they underpay re-sellers, but this was the last straw. I will sacrifice convenience for fair and easy when it comes to reselling items in the future. read more

I haven't been to the other locations, but this site has consistently nice and functional options. I say functional as I'm usually in the market for "work clothes" or a great jeans deal and I've found plenty of both. But, if you are looking for something a little different and/or snazzy I've seen plenty of that there too. All and all, for the value I think this is a great option!! read more

I took in 5 bags of clothes and shoes into the Westerville location and can only say, a learning experience and disappointed. I was reading the reviews below and my exact thoughts as well! I was also told you receive 1/3 of the price; however, after doing the math, there is no way I received 1/3 of the price. Out of 5 bags they took 14 items; 1 of which was a 2-piece suit, new with tags and beautiful! I received an avg. of $5 per item - there is no doubt in my mind they will sell the suit for much more, as well as a pair of new heels that had never been worn and other designer items. I was told the same thing others were told; they did not take items older than 2 years - some items may have been a little worn? At least 1 pair of shoes that were passed on were brand new, purchased a few months ago AND in style?!??! Interesting fact though - I browsed a little and found 2-3 items hanging on rack with stains and brands from Walmart that were not in style? I offer a bit of advice to the store owners/managers; the employees are extremely nice; however, I think they could use more education on professional attire purchases. I found the store offers very little professional attire, which I may add, most of my items are for the working woman, i.e., shoes that were passed on, which were a beautiful beige leather sling back pump. If you are a teenager/younger adult, you will love this store. If you are a working professional, I believe you will be disappointed. read more

I dropped of (Gahanna location) Coach purses and 3 pair of brand new Coach sandals/tennis shoes and brand new pair of Nike tennis shoes they actually passed on all of my items stating "condition and style"...excuse me ! I was totally offended ..first off I seen a pair of dingy..dirty coach tennis shoes on the shelf asking for 35.00 and I had a pair in my basket brand NEW and I was told NO. This isn't my first time selling /shopping at this location after today... I'll stick with Westerville or Henderson. If your items isn't outdated or dingy they will pass! The customer service reps needs to be educated on what to buy.! read more

I certainly don't have a problem with the staff or what they were selling, but be warned. They really only want very expensive new stuff (1-2 years) Heck, I think people must be shoplifting the stuff and taking it there to sell if they can't unload elsewhere or return it to the original store. They offer so little and hardly take anything unless it is a designer item that you hung in the back of your closet, never wore and forgot to return. To add insult to injury after hardly taking any of my very nice (also unstained, drycleaned, pressed and in style) clothing, they paid me with a debit card which cannot be used unless activated---AND the amount available for use on the debit card was reduced because there was a fee to activate the debit card and set the PIN number --both of which are required to get your money from the debit card or use it for a purchase! Ugh! NO. THANK. YOU. CM can go buy and my nice clothes at the Goodwill Store after I have gotten my receipt to write the items off of my taxes for much less inconvenience, insult, and more benefit ! read more
