This is one of those "you get what you pay for" experiences for me. I booked a special for a 40 minute foot massage and 40 minute body massage. I just had a baby in December and was really in need of some pampering and relaxation. The foot massage was alright, but the body massage has left me with such a sore lower back that I can barely move. Not ideal when having to care for a newborn and a 3 year old at home. When I was there, the woman barely spoke to me and as a first time visitor I wasn't sure what to do. I would consider returning just for a foot massage and trying a different therapist, but I'll never go for the body massage. read more

I've been going to Cloud 9 for 15+ years. Not only are the receptionists friendly, helpful & professional, each of them works there for years! This is very telling that it's a great place to be! The therapists vary in skills though I've never had one less than this 5 rating. Note the differences & choose your favorite. Great little foot spa in Half Moon Bay! Like others have stated, don't let the outside scare you. When my friends and I first parked our cars, we were a little big skeptical, judging from the surroundings. This place is so unassuming yet once you enter and are led through the main room, I was 100% surprised to see how tranquil and relaxing the atmosphere was. They served us tea with chrysanthemum flowers and goji berries (yum!) and the staff is great!! Mine (shoot I forgot her name) was strong and hit all of my pressure points, without being painful and over the top. How perfect is that? The 'foot massage' actually includes a full body and it was amazingly priced! I almost fell asleep because it was so relaxing and much needed. Plus, all of this under $50! I have visited Cloud 9 over the years about four times pre-pandemic and I like it enough to drive over an hour to come back. All my visits were great--clean facilities, pleasant staff, great prices. This time Alice gave one of the best deep-tissue I massages I have had anywhere! Many people get lost giving a 2-hour massage, just pressing here and there or repeating sequences. Alice made good use of all the time with what seemed to be a well thought-out sequence repeated on both sides of my body. I'd like to give between 3 and 4 stars. They were very friendly, and my masseur Barry often checked in to see if the pressure was just right. When you walk in, they ask if you'd like to pay first or after your services. Remember to BRING CASH FOR THE TIP, though! After paying, they asked me which areas I wanted Barry to concentrate on. Since I signed up for the 40/40 service - 40 minutes on my feet/legs, 40 minutes on my body - I asked that Barry concentrate on my shoulders, back and hips. I mean, if he's going to work on my legs and feet for 40 minutes, I might as well have him concentrate on the upper body for the second half of my appointment. I was brought in on time - you walk into a room where there are about 8 "beds" (they looked like large ottomans), separated by sheer curtains. Barry brought over a tub of hot water (which really, it was HOT, but I could handle it) and had me put my feet in it. Then I lay down, and he placed a towel over my eyes and over my body (though I was still wearing all of my clothes). He proceeded to massage my shoulders and arms, then my legs. I had to tell him to lighten up on the pressure - he did, but not for long. I decided to let him apply firm pressure since I wanted knots and tension worked out. After massaging my legs and feet, he proceeded to get a hot (yes, HOT) towel and he kinda just "dropped it" on me - some people might be shocked by him not warning them, "here comes a HOT towel." He used it to wipe off all the massage oils. For the 40 minute body massage, he brought me into another area where there were curtains covering "individual massage areas" - basically, it was a large room partitioned by curtains (not sheer). So it was semi-private. Barry's massage again was a little rough, and I asked him twice to lighten up. Again, he'd lighten up, but not for long. I really couldn't relax. And the hot towels? Be prepared! At the end, I met up with my girlfriends, who had treatments at the same time as me. I do want to give them another chance - it sounds like my friend had a great massage with Cindy. Went for a massage today with a friend. OH. MY. GOD. It was THE BEST massage I ever had. I used to drive to. Calistoga once a month for Bernie and of course the mud bath. I've been to many different places even in different countries. Matzatlan I'm Mexico a close second. Back to Cloud 9, it's very clean, very quiet, they give you your privacy. A young man named. Barry was excellent, he was attentive to pressure and did exactly as I asked. Before you go in they give you a chart to mark the diagram to indicate problems etc... I felt like a wet noodle when we were done. Seriously, I didn't think it would be smart to drive so we walked next door to Joe's and had some coffee and a muffin. The Cloud 9 website recommended somewhere to tip in cash at least $10. The prices are very reasonable and he worked so hard I gave him $40. My friend did the same for hers. I made an appt for my husband and I will definitely be going back to my new favorite massuer. (The funny part is I wasn't thrilled about going but my friend insisted and said it was great. I had gone when they first opened and it was....meh, but more frustrating because of a language barrier) not anymore. Very pleasant. read more

Wow! Super clean. Very professional. Even during this time. The outdoor massage was so nice I even wished it was raining! The bed was warm. You could tell it was freshly washed. The area was very private and comfortable. There was no way people could see you. I had Andy who did my massage. He is very strong. Next time I will ask him to do more of a light massage, but if you want that deep tissue, he is your man. Massage was $55 for an hour. Definitely get in your hot tub when you get home to finish off the experience. This place is wonderful and convenient and I definitely will be back!! read more

Excellent massage by John. He was conscientious and focused on my problem areas. The spa is simple, so I please don't expect the Ritz. But as far as ongoing massage therapy that won't break the bank, this is great. They require you to leave shoes at the entrance, which is great, but I would have appreciated disposable slippers or other accommodations so I wouldn't have to walk barefoot through the facility.
