    Meal box
    Nikita S.

I've been a fan of clover for quite a while now, but haven't gotten around to writing a review until the Covid era. This review is mostly focused on their meal kits, which are really something special. We've gotten both the starter box, and the post meat box, which have come with three entrées, some snacks, some desserts, and always a small little extra gift that we were expecting. They are really explicit instructions about storage and cooking that are easy to read and understand. The food has been lasting us more one or two more servings than expected, too, and it definitely feels like we have gotten our money's worth. We've used both pickup and the delivery service and both were really smooth. We'll be back!

I've been taking out a few boxes or "starter kits" from Clover due to the ongoing COVID restrictions and so on... I would love to try a more casual dine-in at some point, or their own prepared foods, but to make the drive to their "HUB" location it seemed worthwhile to get a whole box. The starter box, I think priced at $100, was a little steep, but at the time they were offering $40 off, and at this price it was a great deal. It came with three different entrees, a few breakfasts and some snacks / desserts. I also was able to try out their Fall Box, which although smaller has some great seasonal options. The food is vegetarian, and everything is clearly labeled as Dairy, Wheat, etc... All options are both delicious and very healthy. I love their food as it changes up my regular diet and keeps me full and happy at the same time.

    eggplant and egg platter

scrumptious and light. the best tasting eggplant i've ever had, and such silky hummus! the vegetables (purple cabbage, shredded lettuce with pumpkin seeds, shredded carrots) paired so well with the rest of the platter.

My sister brought me here for dinner, straight from the airport and I cannot think of a better way to kick-start my Boston area food tour. She told me about a brussels sprouts sandwich and I was intrigued. Unfortunately, it was a seasonal item and I had visited in May. We ended up ordering the chickpea fritter platter, Clover's take on falafel. We also got the BBQ seitan platter. When the girl behind the counter told us about their house made pita, we asked for two orders. One order = one pita. I ordered a Guatemala coffee. It was a strong pour over and I appreciate any time a restaurant provides fresh coffee options. The seitan was flavorful with good texture. It came with potato salad, pickles and slaw. The chickpea fritters were seasoned well and had a perfect crunch. The sides that came with the plates used fresh ingredients. The pickled red cabbage added a tangy brightness and the hummus was creamy and smooth. Street parking was easy to find on our Thursday evening visit and the girls behind the counter were friendly and helpful.

    Kumquat lemonade

I got the chickpea fritter platter which is basically a falafel plate. It came with beet salad, bean salad, carrot salad, red cabbage, tomato & cucumber mix, hummus, and tahini sauce. Although it didn't come with any rice, the dish was very filling. It feels very healthy and fresh. I loved all the sides because it had some acidity. The only disappointment was the size and quantity of the chickpea fritters. They are tiny and only give five which didn't feel like enough. I also got the kumquat lemonade which wasn't really sweet. I actually liked it more because it wasn't so sweet. If you love healthy food and vegetable, you should definitely try this place out.

Chickpea fritter with matching side of Concord grape soda

Back in Cambridge for a weekend trip and Clover HUB was our first stop. We used to frequent Clover before it became so prevalent, and nothing's changed - maybe even gotten a bit better! 1230 on a Thursday and there was a line for orders (and food), and the "meatballs" were in high demand. Staff was helpful, but rather frantic, and they gave our food to someone else. All in all, a good experience. We ordered the chickpea fritter sammy (aka falafel), eggplant plate, and the homemade concord grape soda. what a refreshing blast to our past were the flavors and quality of ingredients. oh how we've missed you! service could be fine tuned and bit more efficient. food is superb, always fresh & tasty. prices are very fair. next time we're in the area, we will be back!!

Different homemade soda syrups- vanilla, pineapple, ginger & spearmint.

Overall I love the atmosphere and the service. Clover is next door to my job so it's a hop over whenever I need a quick bite. The space is large and industrial reminding me of coffee shops in San Francisco's Soma district. I absolutely love their homemade soda's- especially the spearmint and vanilla. I've only tried the chickpea fritter, fries and BBQ seitan food items. While I love the fritter and fries, I couldn't finish the seitan because it reminded me of spam, due to its wet and compact canned cat food-like comsistency which turned me off. Although the BBQ flavor was ok, I just had no desire to finish it and only ate the fries. Other notes: Metered street parking Plenty of seating. Inviting bright and sunny interior. Provided roll of paper and crayons for the artistic types. Very friendly and helpful staff. No online menu to view, but they have a really cool blog.

    The incredible mouthwatering Sharan sandwich.
    Thanh L.

Clover keeps it fresh. Fresh ingredients, fresh menu items. I can always expect seasonal, bold, fun new sandwiches with them! If they can keep adding new amazing flavors like the one in their latest, the Sharan, I will come back over and over until I die. The Sharan is an Indochinese sandwich that doesn't hold back on heat, is super flavorful and has a great spice profile with depth. Packed with cauliflower, delicious lime slaw, fried rice noodles and pepper spread - goodness I'm already thinking of when to get it again!! I hope they keep it permanently. Another fave sandwich that I hope rotates back in is the parsnip! So good. Staples like the chickpea fritter aren't a bad way to go but it's fun trying new fare. Mezze platter is good if you're going light on carbs although mixing and matching your fave sides might be a better choice once you know what you like. They switch up the soda flavors often and offer interesting flavors you typically don't find elsewhere - mango and pineapple are great! Sample if you're not sure. Coffee in the morning is solid and their popover sandwiches rock! And the simple popover itself is a delicious puffy treat. Service at this location is great and the staff give it a community feel.

    BBQ seitan sandwich

Came back to clover because my student keeps raving about vegan food. This time I tried the BBQ seitan sandwich ~$9 if I remember correctly. I wasn't a huge fan of their seitan (odd texture and overpowered by the sauce), but I'll come back and try something else!

Egg & eggplant platter, beet & carrot salad, farro salad, tahini, and hummus
    Jamie H.

my new favorite place to eat. i stopped in for lunch and already got a positive impression since the woman taking my order was super friendly and nice. she gave me a little background about clover and let me know that all the food was made here at the inman location. i decided on the egg & eggplant platter which is apparently a really popular choice. it came with a cucumber tomato salad plus 2 salads, one that was beet, carrots, and pumpkin seeds, and the other was with farro. it also had a large scoop of hummus topped with olive oil, and all of these sides were actually the best part better than the egg and eggplant. however the fried eggplant was awesome, it was slightly chewy on the outside and tender on the inside. i was still in the area so decided to go back for a quick dinner. i couldn't decide what i wanted so the other really friendly woman at the front (that makes 2 for 2) offered to let me try all the soups of the day. the tomato was thick and creamy, and i ended up adding a cup of this with my sandwich. the mulligatawny soup was actually the best one, with a slight indian flavor and lentils but i thought it would be too filling. the hearty vegetable stew was quite hearty with huge chunks of vegetables. i didn't want mayonnaise on my sandwich so was offered tahini on the side which is a nice substitute. both teas i got were delicious, the lemon hibiscus was flavorful and the mint refreshing. i also like that they offer a beer on tap plus multiple coffee options.

I'm here on average once a week. How can I resist? Everything is so healthy [-seeming]. With a meat-free menu and an emphasis on local produce, Clover kicks it up a notch with tasty sandwiches and platters that rarely disappoint. If you're looking for something nutritious and filling, but don't want to shlep down to Whole Foods for a prepared dish, try Clover instead. I'm a fan of the egg and eggplant sandwich or the brussel sprout sandwich. The brussel is seasonal, so for the love of your tummy, get some before it's gone! Fried brussel sprouts and dijon sour cream? Yes please and thank you. The french fries here are also yummy; always perfectly salted, and I love the crispy bites of rosemary sprinkled throughout. I've heard good things about the CSA and the breakfast menu, but have yet to try either. I'll admit, there's room for improvement in the customer service area, but you win some, you lose some.

    Brussels sprout sandwich.
    Christian P.

I like Clover's emphasis on local ingredients and their pristine, sterile appearance. Everything on the menu looked great but the Brussels sprouts sandwich sounded amazing: fried Brussels in a pita with pickled red cabbage, toasted hazelnuts, and a creamy aioli. The friend I was with said she had one yesterday. She liked it but she thought it was a tad dry, and recommend ordering with some extra sauce. I took her advice and asked if I could get mine with extra aioli, but my request was denied, even though I said I'd pay extra. The sandwich was very good -- I loved how the smoky, charred sprouts paired with the briny cabbage and the crunch of the hazelnuts -- but she was right: it was on the dry side. Still, pretty good for $6. The Inman Square location even had two draft lines with local (of course) nano brews. When I was there it was Somerville's Pretty Things and Framingham's Jack's Abby. I like Clover. I'm partial to All-Star Sandwich Bar down the street but if I saw the truck around town then I would definitely take advantage.

We are fortunate to work in Cambridge near a wide variety of restaurants. Nearby is Clover, a vegan restaurant. I'm not vegan, but every once in a while, it sounds like a good option - today was one of those days. The staff is happy to explain the menu to anyone not in-the-know about vegan options. The menu has some standards but also changes to a degree regularly. What we discovered today was that it was difficult to get a dish that wasn't fried or that had soy... The counter person was happy to suggest substitutions and we ended up with a pretty decent lunch. My falafel was overdone but, otherwise the food was fresh and tasty. Oh yeah - get the Ginger Soda! If you're looking for something different for lunch give Clover a try.

My personal test is simple: if a cafe's black coffee is good, then everything else usually is too--and Cafe Beatrice passed the test. Once you move into their lattes, you're in for a treat. The last one I had was a matcha brewed with apple cider and sweetened with a chai syrup. It was a soft, fall-time win. If you're here, I'd say go all out and order one of their specialty lattes. The baked goods are generally puff pastry or croissant-based, either filled or topped with fruit, jam, or sweetened cheese. My favorite was probably a raspberry pastry (though the photo I posted was on Yelp over a year ago, my first visit here). I haven't tried their food yet, but from what I've seen, it looks good. For some reason, this place also seems to bring in a lot of bicyclists. There's street parking available, and it's right by the Lechmere station.

Fruit Brioche: The fruit changes seasonally; I had blood orange. The sauce gushed out as soon as you cut into it, primarily showcasing the orange's aroma and sweetness. It wasn't sour, but also not too sweet, pairing perfectly with the brioche. Many breads are only available on weekends, so it's advisable to inquire in advance to avoid disappointment.

My favorite dish was the duck noodles. I liked the freshness of the basil in the pesto, and the tenderness and juiciness of the duck. The coconut eggplant was a close second favorite. The coconut flavor was delicious, and I liked the nuts on top for crunch. I also found the ginger cabbage salad to be yummy, but not as much as a standout as the other two dishes. Overall, I really enjoyed this spot for dinner. I liked how fresh everything was, and how the dishes felt very light and healthy.
