The layout is great- an oversized island buzzing with hot and iced drink orders, cozy seating as you walk in and even more space on the far side with a perfect view of their pastry display. We kicked off my daughter's 7:30 birthday breakfast here and it couldn't have been better. She picked the shakshuka that had perfectly runny poached eggs- it was hearty and satisfying. My scrambled egg+fontina grilled cheese hit the spot too. But the real magic was their insanely rich Valrhona hot chocolate that reminded me of my favorite cup from a spot in White Plains, NY. I mean....it was pure bliss. So were the decadent chocolate mousse cup my daughter has raved about the few times she's come here. Coming here was hands-down an unforgettable start to the day. Nice to have a Tatte in Arlington, and it's a pretty good size too. Stopped by for a quick lunch and got a slice of ham and cheese quiche with a salad. The quiche was rich, custardy and denser than I expected, and the small salad helped balance the richness (wish it was a bit bigger), but I was full by the end. Counter and food running service was quick and I had no problem grabbing a table. Got the pineapple passionfruit matcha bombe for a dessert - while I liked the fruity filling I didn't care much for how dominant the white chocolate flavor was, so that was a miss for me, especially given it was a couple bucks less than my lunch. A tatte in Arlington! So happy about this. I love tatte and although, before this location, the nearest one was under 20 mins away, if i didn't go, it was because of the commute or because of the parking situation. This location is practically walking distance and they have plenty of parking in the back. I actually discovered this tatte on accident when i was getting some pizza one night and noticed that a tatte opened in Arlington and i knew i had to try it. This location is spacious and has many tables. I loved seeing different groups of people, from people working, to students, to people just casually enjoying some food together. You can do it all at Tatte. Before a flight, i stopped to have a quick breakfast and because it was a little rushed, we weren't able to order anything off the menu and ended up getting pastries and some drinks. It was pretty full but we were able to snag a table and wait for the drinks. The food, even after being heated up, was still pretty cold but tasted good. The upside down orange cake was phenomenal. It was my favorite by far, along with the pistachio croissant. I ordered an iced matcha latte with almond milk and it was delicious. Honestly, i do think the staff could be nicer and more welcoming. But overall, the food and drinks were good and i'm excited to give this tatte another visit, maybe try some menu items and desserts. read more

We went to the new Tatte in Arlington and it was great because we could easily find a seat and relax compared to the busier locations: Boston, Cambridge or Charlestown locations. Unfortunately, the two times I've been there, an item I wanted off the menu was sold out. Luckily, there are plenty more items to try if something is sold out. What we ordered: - Lamb Shakshuka: I would highly recommend this! It was one of the best shashuka's I've had. It was very filling and I thought that I would've preferred a more crispy rough bread like a ciabatta but the challah was perfect. - Breakfast Sandwich: solid sandwich, great house-made sourdough bread. Would be nice if they offered another condiment other than basic hot sauce - Croissant Breakfast Sandwich: solid sandwich with a sweeter flavor profile - Sweet French Toast: The jam, strawberries and almond all mix perfectly together. Tatte is such a gem! Monday was my first time at this new Arlington location, and it was very busy for a late morning. The interior was spacious and well lit, with plenty of patrons working on their laptops. I was so excited to try everything, I ordered two beverages - the Sparkling Matcha Lemonade and the Iced Pistachio Latte. For food, I got the Lamb Meat Ball Shakshuka and my sister chose the Halloumi Sunny-Side Breakfast Sandwich. And we also got the Cherry Pistachio Tart to share! We got our tart right away and snagged a table to sit at, and the rest of the food/drinks were brought out to us. Both the Sparkling Matcha Lemonade and the Iced Pistachio Latte were fantastic. The lemonade was refreshing, with a strong matcha flavor. The latte also had a very strong pistachio flavor, but I wish I had gotten it with an extra shot of espresso. All the food was incredible as well - we were obsessed with the Cherry Pistachio Tart and I'm craving another one as I write this. The Lamb Meat Ball Shakshuka was massive and came with delicious challah bread. I shockingly couldn't finish it all, but it was very filling. Ambiance 3/5 This place was pretty big. There was plenty of seating with booths, chairs, and bar seating as well. We have Tatte in Arlington! I am super happy that Tatte has opened in Arlington. It's nice to have a space in Arlington where folks can gather and have reliably good food. When Tatte was in Harvard Square, I always ordered the same thing because I knew I wasn't going to get there very often, now I've been working my way through various menu items. We definitely spent a lot in those early weeks. Standouts are the Shashuka (great value, I usually get 2-3 meals out of one order), the farro dinner (it was a fall special) and a surprising favorite of mine is their egg in a hole. It's in a Jerusalem bagel (which is more like a soft, delicious pretzel shaped bagel coated in sesame seeds), and the eggs are soft cooked (or made to your specifications) inside. The cucumber relish on top and the cilantro make it a meal. You can order it with ham to up the protein content and in this case (pictured), I added bacon because...bacon. Try all the shashuka meals - they are all a bit different but the one with the lamb meatballs is my favorite! Love the special ones - gives me a reason to come back and try a new one. Bring a friend, it feeds the soul and conversation. We've tried many of the brunch items. Other standouts include the labneh with roasted pear and granola, the refrigerator section chicken salad, the greek pancakes (but you have to be ready for something that is a bit different), and the mezze breakfast where you get a lot of dips along with a Jerusalem bagel. Some downsides is that my 12 year old isn't a superfan (likely b/c we went 15x in the first month), but I've turned her on to the breakfast sandwich with challah and we're all good. The customer service is excellent and even when they make mistakes, they will correct them quickly. They really did a nice job training an all new staff in a new location. I don't go at busy times so I don't have the struggles that others have noted going at peak times on weekends. Weekday evenings are the best for dinner, and on weekends, that weird pocket of time mid-day between 2-5 is a nice sweet spot. read more

This is my third time to this location and won't be the last. There's plenty of space to eat, catch up with friends or work remote. I've seen people doing all there, though it can get a little noisy at times. I sat outside after I ordered my salmon avocado tartine. It came out fast and was delicious. Plenty of salmon and avocado that all looked and tasted fresh. I definitely would recommend this location, it's right in downtown Arlington and easy to get to by Minuteman Bike Trail. read more

I wondered if you give a pat on the back to some of your staff for treating customers like $hit! And trust me, I don't wanna stop coming to you because you're the only neighborhood cafe that actually serves my chocolate with oat milk the way I like it -EXTRA hot! You've also re-made a messed up order [almond instead of oatmilk]. This past Tuesday was the exception. The cash register/front staff couldn't care less that I was there. A young, prolly teen man with a curly bob cut in a white tee. He looked at me for at least three minutes, continued cleaning the menus, walked around, and preoccupied himself with anything but taking my order. I made the mistake of standing by the pastries because that's what I wanted...and that's where I've ordered from all the times I've come in. Quite frankly, I've always imagined we order pastries from the pastry stand because I've always found a staff there, separate from the cash register staff. So, I didn't wanna bother the counter guy. Finally, he asked [snooty]if I wanted to order anything, noticing the line was getting longer [confirming to me that he knew I wanted to order, even when he chose to ignore me]. I explained that I thought I had to wait for the pastries ...His response was like, "you should have known better"...no apologies, no care. I said, if you found me on my job, I'll surely reach out you and give you customer service and customer satisfaction. It's called "Customer Service!" Having lunch with wife at the new Arlington Tatte. They are still working out the kinks, but service and food are much better now. Layout and ambiance is very good - less crowded layout as others have mentioned. Can get a bit noisy depending on customers. This is so hard! Two years ago I would have given the Beacon Street location 4 or 5 stars - I frequently stopped in before my job at BU for a morning coffee and cheese boureka. Tatte was one of my happy places. I was thrilled when the new Arlington location opened not far from where I live. I've become a regular customer. I still love the atmosphere, but it's no longer consistently a happy place for me. I now see the same cracks at all the Tattes I frequent (I've been to many in the area). I want to love Tatte, but the inconsistency of customer service and quality of product is disheartening, to say the least. I try to avoid their busy times because the crush of frustrated customers in the long lines triggers my anxiety. I frequently see 3 or 4 staff people behind the counter with only one (or none!) of them paying any attention to the customers. I now see that I am not alone in feeling ignored by the people behind the counter. What is up? What are those two or three other staff people doing? Why aren't the customers in line their priority? Some of the staff are friendly and attentive, but many are dismissive and downright rude. I've started to tip accordingly - which is a bummer because I know they pool all their tips. As for the product - the coffee is fairly consistently good (although not as much so as at other Tatte locations) but the food is VERY inconsistent. I've gotten the wrong dish twice and sometimes the baked goods are overcooked and/or dried out. I still love the cheese bourekas but they are often sold out by noon. I used to like the chocolate and ham and cheese croissants but in Arlington the chocolate croissants (pain au chocolat to confuse people) are often dry and the ham and cheese seem to have a big smear of mustard in the middle which is overpowering. I no longer order the croissants. I stick with coffee and occasionally a boureka or brownie. I've stopped ordering meals at Tatte after taking a friend to lunch there and being disappointed with both the dishes (halloumi salad was too salty and heavily dressed, the salmon tartine had too much dill sauce). I give 5 stars for SOME of the staff and ambience. I give 4 stars for coffee and some baked goods. I give 3 stars for cleanliness (when they are busy the bussing stations are a mess). I give 2 stars for other dishes, I give 1 star for consistency, reliability, cleanliness, overall customer service. I don't know if that averages to 2 or not, but Tatte's lack of attention to these reviews is why I'm downgrading. If leadership showed some concern for their negative reviews, I would definitely give them a 4! read more

When asking if they had lemonade, I was handed a bottled lemonade by the cashier who seemed to care less and not take the time to share the list of homemade lemonades that I missed! The pastries are very good. They must make them elsewhere and bring to this location? The breakfast plate was just ok. Recommendation is to grab a nice beverage made there along with a pastry. When the best thing you can say about a restaurant is that the space is beautiful, probably not a good sign. This is the second Tatte I've been to in as many weeks. The desserts are beautiful, but not tasty. Their meringue had no flavor and was way too sweet. And no hint of passion fruit - or anything else I could discern. Their pound cake has a LOT of drizzle on it. I love sweets, but don't want them to rely on sugar for appeal. The few I've tried were, frankly, past their prime. Staff apparently is asked to measure the placement of their dessert placement with a ruler. Really? It's not a state dinner at Buckingham Palace. I stood in line with 5 other parties recently and the gal's head was buried in the case with a ruler while 9 ppl waited on line. No acknowledgement. Just kept measuring and moving. I've tried a sandwich - chicken salad. Good, but not great. I liked the bread - nicely toasted and it didn't cut your mouth. I understand they're owned by Panera, which I think has better food, but lacks atmosphere. Now if only someone could pull those 2 elements together, they might have something. Until then, unless you need a sit down with a cup of something hot, I'd find a good local bakery. read more

There is a saying that the quality of a restaurant (all aspects: food, service, ambiance) is inversely proportional to the number of locations opened. Tatte is no different and the Arlington branch is the epitome of this theory. Years ago, I remember going to Tatte in Kendall and was very impressed by the quality of the food and the pleasant work staff. My family and I have been dozens of times to various locations. On our most recent visit to the Arlington store, we arrived on a Thursday into a chaotic atmosphere. Despite many open tables and many fewer customers than I have seen at other locations at lunch time, the staff was in a frenzy. During our order, the woman at the register left twice, mid-order, to assist another customer and check in with the manager. Our lengthy order for three people was wrong and needed to be started over as a result. The food is good but not what it was 7-10 years ago and I agree with others that, as far as baked goods, pastries and coffee, there are at least 5 better choices on Mass Ave in Arlington alone. My shakshuka was over cooked, the egg yolks not even slightly runny. My wife attempted to substitute the egg on top of her dish with a side of labneh instead. Simple request, no egg, scoop of yogurt on the side. Impossible, they said. No substitute, no egg, and no credit for there being no egg. The manager told us that they do not allow for exceptions. It is clear that Tatte has become a chain, no different than Panera (although Panera would have likely given the scoop of yogurt). Management is numbers and profit driven and both customer service & quality of food will suffer as a result. Finally, personal gripe of mine, Stumptown coffee just doesn't cut it for a $7 latte. Please provide a better Italian coffee for the espresso based drinks. read more
