The one star is for the view. Seriously I have no idea WHY anyone gives this place anything other. It's kinda dirty. Half the motel (let's be real here) is under renovations. Which I HOPE improves this place. It's run down. It smells. The rooms are from sometime in the 1970's. The hot has been broken for years from what the staff said. And the pool was out of commish due to someone literally in it. I'm not joking. The patio is at least some what decent but half the tables are broken. Breakfast? Right. If you want fake eggs that are overcooked and stale and bacon that has been cooked to death. Preschool juices and a bagel. You're in luck. $200+ for a river view and a small bed. Oh. And their restaurant is also closed. Oh and two of the elevators don't work. Best to take the stairs. The pluses.... The bed is at least decent. Hot shower and good water pressure. Do not recommend! We booked a room with a view for over $240 a night . We were given a room over looking a parking lot .. no water view... dirty carpet that u just didnt want to step on. Black mold in bathroom around the fan switch plate. Spider webs and dirt thru out room, made me feel like it was a room that hadnt been used or cleaned in months. if u opened the bathroom door and someone was at sink or using coffee pot u would hit them with door. An awkward layout. Old mattress with springs, very hard and u will hurt in the morning from this mattress. Just the Basics at this hotel only the minimum... no luxury, think motel 8 but dirty. no liquid soaps, no body wash no hand soap. they do give u tiny bar of soap. For $240 a night thos hotel is absolutely not worth it! Do not stay here! u will regret wasting ur money after not being able to sleep due to bed and such a noisy place to stay at...we possibly might have been discriminated at by the first employee that greeted us at check in. The surrounding area IS VERY beautiful.. the employee at checking in definitely made us feel unwelcomed. The employee leaving was very kind to us!! The worst part of the stay was the toilet seat was hot glued on and when u sat on it if fell off and u went directly in the water/toilet!! We left early and headed home . The rooms were so outdated. The small bed. With the old style blankets. I could feel the springs in the bed. Everything was under construction. No jacuzzi or swimming pool. My room was right above the pool. I opened my window for fresh air. And the bad order from the pool was so terrible. I had to close it. The price did not reflect the experience. Super bummed out, booked the "captain suite" for a mini anniversary. Upon arriving to the hotel, Front desk clerk calls out our payment method out loud, asking questions. Reads the private notes I left for them out loud in front of my wife. Which was supposed to be a surprise. (Asked to leave some flowers etc, which wasn't done) That surprise gets ruined. The whole place smelled bad. Half of the place is closed or out service without any disclosures what so ever. The restaurant is closed, The hot tub outside is cemented in. When we get to the room, the jet tub doesn't work, (main reason for booking this place), the jet tub room is not the same as on the pictures. Old sticky note showing jets are out of order, mold in the shower, dirty balcony, etc. Super unhappy for $400 a night. iIt was the biggest disappointment for a trip by far. Was so bummed out with the service I didn't even bother saying anything, seems like no one knows what's going on. Waste of time and money. The hot tub has been out of commission for months. They state the pool is heated to 80 degrees but it's ice cold. I asked them to turn on the heater and returned the following day with high hopes only to be let down. The breakfast was terrible. The restaurant has been closed for months. We extended our stay for another day due to soreness from a baseball tournament only to find out our room keys did not work after 5pm on our original departure date and we had to go to the front desk 3 different times to fix this issue. I asked for some sort of accommodation for the inconvenience and she front desk told me she could give me $10 off our stay. They provide 2 towels total in the restroom and have a brochure posted asking you to reuse your towels to "save the whales." The cleaning lady opened our door at 8am with no warning in the middle of our stay. Won't be returning. read more

This place has an excellent location and was very reasonably priced on a recent visit. This could be due to amenities like the pool being closed due to covid, but breakfast was still available. This is located on the waterfront on a unique little island, there is a brewery and a restaurant nearby as well as a restaurant/bar within the hotel (unfortunately I visited on a day it wasn't open). There's plenty of parking nearby and we were able to get a riverfront view room for close to 100$. I really appreciate that they have bikes that can be checked out to ride on a trail nearby (helmets included). They also have opened up the pool area as a place to go out and sit and enjoy the view, even though you can't swim right now. The current breakfast set up is pretty awesome with everyone writing down their orders and then very helpful cooks/servers making it up to make sure everyone gets what they need in an orderly fashion. This is one of the best breakfast set ups I have seen in the free continental breakfasts of hotels I have stayed in during the covid era. I did read a few reviews about some people being around the area that made others feel unsafe. I would agree that I did see a few questionable people around, but I wouldn't let this reflect badly on the hotel and at no time did I feel unsafe. My vehicle also had no incidents. read more

We had High expectations. Unfortunately, several things are very disappointing to us. MAJOR construction going on. Jack hammer and machines going ALL day. This is not the place to have a relaxing vacation. The Crows Nest, which is supposed to be amazing is Closed! The "All you can eat buffet " is a continental breakfast at best. I'm assuming it used to be in the Crows Nest. And we did not expect the pool to be closed! It was 80* yesterday. So, having high expectations of a lovely getaway, I am sadly very disappointed. While my colleagues were stuck in their chain hotel with non-opening windows that looked out over sweltering seas of concrete and miserable malls full of junk from China, I snoozed and won! Why? Well you see, I didn't make my reservation soon enough with the colleagues, and therefore had to make my own reservation at another hotel. I didn't realize what good fortune that was until I was sitting beside the outdoor pool that looks out over the river, listening to a recap of the hits of the eighties via my fellow hotel guests' boombox, and sipping a glass of my own white wine from the local grocery outlet (in a plastic cup in order to follow the pool deck rules). High class...I know! Yes, the rooms were the usual cheap hotel ugly and slightly musty smelling, but fine and clean. It is locally owned which I like and our room had a view of the Columbia River and the pelicans flying along it. Yay! The windows opened to let in REAL air at night. Whew! The breakfast was as bad as all the chain hotels' free breakfasts with the weird waffle spinner, but this one had some sort of Jetsons-like conveyor belt automatic pancake making machine and that definitely impressed the family. My husband travels for work. He is out for 2 weeks at a time. I came with this time. We were excited when we booked bc we figured it would be long over due break for mom AND dad. Nowhere on the website did it mention renovations. NOWHERE So, I am stuck here with NOTHING to do. No pool no Restruant NOTHING. THE BED IS SO HARD both hubby and I are in pain. We were both up almost every hour bc *bed is tiny *EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Most rooms he gets are extra roomy, seating and a functional room. This is like a dungeon. The fridge is ok, the TV is thee biggest Either one of us has seen in any hotel room ever. Unfortunately every time you shut the stupid thing off you have to basically reprogram it. It has 3 different guide areas that are on a small sheet on the desk. It's confusing and we ended up just keeping it one one station. It would make sense to have a smaller tv that fit the tiny room and invested in the comfort. Now let's talk chargers. This room has 2 usb charging areas and it's a power strip screwed to the wall by the desk. Zero by the beds. My husband had computers radios and phones that need charging. It was absolutely ridiculous when every other room we get is covered with them. We were VERY disappointed. We were planning on while he was IN hermiston to be here. It's at least a year worth of work. Today we leave and find somewhere up to date and comfortable OMFG! Add this, zero locks on the doors leading to and from the staircase. You don't need a key to get on the floor. I have had a stranger attack me and This Should never happen not with the security that is available. We are leaving as soon as my husband gets off. Not sure how this hotel is getting more than 3 stars, it is close to 2 for me. Pros- Waterfront location. Onsite restaurant. Free breakfast. Across street from a couple nice restaurants. Loaner bikes for a ride on the nearby trail along the Columbia. Cons- worn out to the point that we almost left. Had it not been as late at night when we checked in, we would have left. Carpet is bunching and rippling. Arm chair is tattered. Popcorn ceiling was dirty looking. Bed was stiff and transferred movement easily. All furniture was chipped and worn. Add to the worn furniture, fixtures, and flooring, it was a tiny room. Email we received at booking (short notice) stated they had prime rib in the restaurant, no prime rib- server said they haven't served it since before Covid. It was also on their website. We arrived by boat and were able to dock right in front of the pool. We enjoyed that pool and hot tub for a bit, then had dinner at the crows nest. They served tasty drinks and delicious seafood. Service was fantastic as well. The hotel room was a little strange, when we walked in there was an oversized stuffed lion laying across the bed which startled me. Heavy mouse infestation. I got no sleep after the rustling and moved rooms after watching one run across the dresser. All of this starting at 3:30 am. They had us move rooms to literal opposite end of building we had a long day with a funeral and a trip to Dr before heading back and trying to sleep.... 4am here a crackle, turn light on and yep another mouse. No offers to rectify the situation matter of fact the older lady at the desk blamed me for them doing nothing. Don't eat breakfast there I know for a fact mice are on 1 and 3rd floor, impossible to think they aren't on the other 2 floors. Restaurant for lunch and dinner and the pool are closed. Pretty sure that's due to rodents as well. Washer and dryer for guests were unplugged. I know from reviews at other sites the mice have been around awhile. We have been home 2 days, not a single call from manager or owner. I have stayed there in the past and enjoyed it, but this is disgusting and the local health board will be notified. read more

Stumbled on this little gem on a road trip from LA to Bamff. Beautiful location, surrounded by water. The hotel has a 70's vibe, in a good way! Clean rooms, awesome shower and a restaurant with an unbelievable view! Watched the sun go down while sipping Pinot Gris poured by Hannah, a most welcoming bartender who served us immediately even though it was almost closing time and didn't make us feel rushed at all! She was so sweet, told us to take our time so we ordered the steamed clam appetize and had a second glass of wine. People like Hannah can make or break the day of a weary traveler. I was Kennewick this past week around Thanksgiving and needed a place to crash for the night . I decided after some looking around the Clover Island would be a good choice for the night . The room was comfortable and had a nice view of the river and was close to everything. I also thought it was nice that there was a restaurant on the 4th floor in case I didn't want to go out . There is also a really lighthouse nearby that was cool to stop and walk around . There are alot of good food options nearby and a Dutch Bro's. Coffee . The only problem I had was that my room after tax was $100 and change but when I looked at my bank statement online I had been charged $125 so I'm hoping that when I call them they will refund the difference. I guess we'll see . Overall I would recommend this place and the only reason I gave them the 3 star is because they overcharged me . Aside from that it was a good place to stay . read more

My son, who is a traveling wildlands firefighter, was racially profiles this morning while staying at this hotel. He and his team, are on assignment in the area and they're there for a few days. Anyway, around 7:30 am he's standing by the lake FT his girlfriend showing her the water and FOUR, FOUR white men . approached him. One identified himself as the "owner", approached him and started to question him as if he was intruding. What room are you in, where are you from and why are you here. Totally unacceptable! I called and spoke to a Cindy who was just as ignorant, saying I don't think it was racist because one guy was Mexican and the other has black friends! The first time I was here I had my Scottish terrier with me. They put me on the ground floor in a room that smelled and had numerous pee stains. There were also spider webs in the corners in bathroom near the floor. This is totally non acceptable. My second visit I was put on 3rd floor. What a difference it made. Very clean room. First off, the best thing about the inn is the young lady who's the breakfast manager, she's been there for two years now. She works extremely hard and fast, and with a lot of Aloha. Great way to start the day. The hotel is dated and in need of a renovation, but it's clean enough and the staff are friendly. The Crows Nest bar is good, friendly staff, but go down the street for more upscale food. Good place to stay if you're partying in the banquet rooms. After spending weeks working our hearts out helping Mum, we decided to take the scenic route home. That route led us into Kennewick and the Clover Island Inn. It's not an easy place to find - hidden away on the end of an "island" next to the Columbia River with only one road in and out. The Inn offers 152 rooms, many of which face the water and give romantic views of the river and one of most lovely Cable Bridges I've seen. At night the lights on the bridge are spectacular. A gaze down river offers a brilliant sunset over Rattlesnake Mountain. For those of you that don't know the history of Rattlesnake Mountain, it's worth looking up. Aside from boasting itself as the tallest treeless mountain in the world (which is contested), Rattlesnake Mountain was home to the Nike Ajax missile base and Hanford nuclear site. But don't let that ruin your sunset fantasy. It's still lovely from a distance. The rooms are tasteful and what's expected of a waterfront hotel. Although a touch smallish, they don't feel cramped. They have queen size beds, mini fridge, microwave, free WiFi, flat screen TV and a large washroom. The heaters work well and a large window gives great views of the river and bridge. Open the slider and listen while you sleep to the sound of the water splashing on the shore. *sigh* If you mention the Internet special (by phone), all this romance can be yours for a mere $67 per night (off season). The hotel is guaranteed to be dynamic in the summer! The Columbia River with its clean water and wide breadth are a boater's dream come true. The Clover Island Inn has a dock for those boaters which invites them in for a meal or beverages. And they have just the place for both: The Crow's Nest. The Crow's Nest restaurant is located on the 4th floor (top) of the inn and has sweeping views of the water, bridge and sunset. The bartender, Sandi, is a HUGE ball of energy with a great sense of humor. Open Monday through Saturday (11-10) the restaurant has a small but varied menu of seafood, steaks and sandwiches. They even offer Hubby's favorite Monte Cristo. The bar has a daily Happy Hour with $3 beer and awesome selection of wine. We managed to come on a day where they had a hundred bottles of Syrah open from a tasting party and were selling them cheap during HR. Needless to say, I tried many and was thankful for the room being close to the restaurant for when I had to stagger there later in the evening. Shift change came and Jean (the manager) tagged out Sandi so she could run out for a night of rest (aka partying). Jean was a wealth of information. She gave us details about the history of the river, Rattlesnake Mountain and a host of other tidbits. As always, Hubby and I were hungry and had to sample the goodies on the menu. First up was the crab dip. It had large chunks of crab and just the right amount of bubbly good sauce. A definite must-have if you come here! Next came the house salad with bacon and blue cheese crumbles. The lettuce was crisp and fresh and the condiments well prepared. For the main dish Hubby ordered the evening special - salmon with fettucini alfredo and broccoli. The salmon was done to perfection, but the pasta was a bit on the raw side. My steamers (you know how I love steamers) were delicious. The white wine and butter sauce was perfectly garlicy and the little toastettes sopped up that tasty juice after all the little clams were gone. As if it couldn't get better, a free breakfast is included. Biscuits and gravy, french toast, waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereal, juice, coffee, muffins, bagels, fruit! Only served from 7-9 so get your little self out of bed to enjoy and then go back for more sleep. The total package of of the Clover Island Inn is such a bargain. Whenever we head to Idaho to see family we stop in Kennewick and stay at a hotel. This was the first time staying at the Clover Island Inn and we really enjoyed the view, and we got a great deal on an upgraded room. Staff was excellent and helping us be comfortable and feel safe. This is our new place when we drive through in the future! There was a bass tournament going on so it was fun to watch the bass boats early in the morning cruising down the river in the sun coming up. read more

We had such a great experience! The room was very clean though not immaculate (hence not 5 stars). We had reserved a mini-suite and all these were taken so they upgraded us to a full suite. It was so nice! Our balcony overlooking the river was stunning :) the staff were kind and helpful. The hot tub was great, and the view can not be beat! We had little complimentary items I haven't ever seen in a hotel, including lip balm and bath salts (this might be because we had the suite?!). The breakfast the next morning was delicious. It included pancakes and real sausage and bacon and scrambled eggs. Bowls of tougher and great fruit and toast, oatmeal, and muffins. Milk and juice and got chocolate and coffee. Had to go to bar on the same island and have the worst Mother's Day ever. Clover island had a power outage same as the bar we ate in but couldn't even call guests so they could make other plans. So you can take money and reservations but not have the class to make sure 100,s of Mother's Day was not ruined. Do better for your community. Call your patrons on such a spe day. read more

I notice fresh coats of paints and rooms and rugs are clean. However, the furnishings and fixtures are dated, the desk light switch was broken(remind me to notify desk) and there's a popcorn ceiling! Yes...dated. Although, the other amenities make up for it. In Room amenities had coffee maker, blow dryer, toiletries, microwave, refrigerator, iron, ironing board and HD flat screen television. First time staying here. I'm going to list pros and cons of our stay. Pros: Price. Easy check in. Ladies at front desk are very nice. Lots of parking available. Amazing view of the river from our room. Nice tv that we were able to hook our roku to. Cons: Popcorn ceilings. Rooms and hotel is very outdated. Our door to our room is not sealed properly so you can hear everything out in the hallway. We had to put a sheet in front of the door to block the light. Fridge wasn't working the first part of the night and finally started working. I'm not sure what was going on. We did inform the front desk. Overall, it was a good stay. We love staying at Clover Island Inn! The location is hard to beat. Riverside rooms are worth it, the view is just gorgeous. The hot tub was nice. While in the hot tub it would've been a lot more relaxing if there wasn't a noisy machine (air conditioner maybe) making a squealing noise. Otherwise, it was great. Comfy bed, clean linens, warm water, good shower pressure, nice staff. What more could you want? Oh, and it's nice and close to the riverfront trail for a beautiful morning jog. Booked the room via hotels.com, got here around 2pm, and was expecting that we would have to bum around town for a couple hours, since most places you cant check in till 4pm, thankfully they had a room done, and we were able to get checked in, and have a 2nd story room- with a beautiful view of the Columbia River! I had heard of the restaurant at the Clover Island, but had never gone. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. My friends wanted to treat me to dinner, and they chose this restaurant. So yeah, it's in a hotel. It's on Clover "Island". It's on the top floor of the restaurant. Well, the first thing which must be mentioned is the view. The restaurant has to have one of the best views of the Columbia. You have the river below, the Cable Bridge to the right, and beautiful Pasco across the water (ok, the last one was a joke). But yeah, if only for the view, coming here for a meal or drink is worth it. The dining area and bar are nice & adorned in dark wood. You definitely pick up the nautical style here. There are two tillers around as decoration, so if you feel you need to "take the helm", you have options. For starters, we went with a server-recommended Tuscan Crab Dip. I was a little wary of this choice, but dang, this was pretty darn good (and was definitely a highlight). As for a drinks I had a beer for the first round (they only had 4 beers on draft), and for the second round I had a Manhattan (it was alright, a bit sweet for me). I went with the Prime Rib for my main meal. I asked for Medium Rare (and when it was brought out it had a little plastic reddish flag which said "M. Rare"). The Prime Rib was decent (not the best I've had, but that's not fair since I've had all kinds of steak). Our server was an excellent host, and we had a nice evening here.
