very frustrating service, they tell you one price and after you agree and then they start the procedure 1/4 ways they ask you more money. They like to empty you dental insurance money . Later you have no choice but to pay out of your pocket, and this crock dentist ( Ray Lander) will smile and talk softly saying "thank you" ( meaning I just screwed you in rear) Quality of work is totally unethical and unacceptable. I had a very good experience with the staff and facilities. However, I had to have 2 crowns replaced, and the product used to keep the temporary crowns in place, each time lasted less than 24 hours. After the 3rd time I told them that I believed that the product had either gone bad, or was a flawed batch. The 4th day, I just used superglue to keep the front crown in and left the back one out. 3 weeks after the permanent crowns were in place, the back one cracked in half and fell out. They were very kind and replaced it at no cost. But again I had the hassle of the temporary crowns falling out and again the 2nd time, I just left it out. The second time, I also had a lot of pain and it was almost 3 months (now 5 months from the initial replacement) before the tooth stopped being painful to hot or cold items! If it had just been one or two times, I may have chalked it up to a mistake... but multiple times is a policy. read more

I had the same experience as many others are posting. I was told that they would check with my insurance and then call me to schedule. They told me that they did not want to surprise me and wanted to verify exactly what would be covered so I would know the price upfront. So they call me and tell me that it will be a $40 co-pay to which i accept. I come in for the appointment and pay the $40. They get me in the chair, and suddenly they need to talk to insurance and it turns out the procedure isn't covered at all. That will be another $860! VERY SHADY! They lie to get you in, and then once you are back there in the chair they suddenly need more money! My family and I will be going to a new dentist immediately. read more

My appointment was at 3, right when they return from lunch. I arrived at 2:45, and the waiting room was empty. By 3:15 five people arrived after me, and four were brought back. Once brought back in I wait for another 20 minutes in the dentist chair. I could hear the dentist in the next room talking with another patient, it definitely sounded like they knew this person from his personal life. He also sounded quite proud of his other job at the VA. Anyways, I sat up getting ready to go and he saw me, and I explained when my appointment was and that I needed to leave by 4. He had the dental assistants start the x-rays, which I was informed I needed as they were happening. They tell me to come back another day, and that the total cost after the two days will be about $300.00. In all fairness, the front desk staff made that the most pleasant surprise-you-owe-us-$300 I've ever coughed up. read more

I honestly would not recommend this place... I SPECIFICALLY scheduled my appointment on a day I knew I was free but then when I arrived, I was told my appointment was yesterday & that they called me "twenty times". I never got a single phone call. Also, when I told them if they could clean my bottom teeth because I have problems with them due to wearing braces. So, Dr. Lander SARCASTICALLY told me to go on YouTube to watch videos on how to clean them instead of him teaching me since he is the DENTIST! Nice environment and no high pressure sales. However, I must say, DO NOT count on them to verify that a procedure is covered; check for yourself. I ended up shelling out an additional $340 (they so "kindly" split the remaining balance) for a procedure that is usually fully covered every 5 years by my insurer. I've never had a dentist not verify or fail to disclose there will be an out of pocket cost prior to performing a procedure. I liked the service and staff but I have out of pocket trust issues with them, so not so sure I will be going back. Going to explore my options elsewhere. read more

Just went in for a quick "emergency" check up, because my regular Dr. was out of town and I had a mild toothache. This is probably going to be my new regular dentist. The staff and Dr. Lander were nothing short of true professionals. Pretty awesome technology as well. Better get in while they are still accepting new clients guys, cause word is going to get out, and as much as we all hate going to the dentist this is one I wouldn't mind going back to twice a year. read more

Very unprofessional! BEWARE. I have been a patient here for a few years. In the beginning it was great. I absolutely loved Rhonda, the front desk lady that used to work here. She left a couple years ago along with a few other nice employees(I wonder why). They have since been replaced by a rude, lazy and incompetent staff. My last straw came this year when my son needed some dental work. I spoke to Kelly who said according to my insurance I would have to pay $300 for my son's work. When I finally got around to making an appointment she then said it would be $700+ because I had absolutely no benefits left with my insurance. I called my insurance who told me I had $300 left. After going back and forth with Kelly (who was extremely rude the whole time), we finally just gave in to paying the $700 because my son really needed the work. Then the dentist says if we do end up having benefits left he will reimburse us with a check... What the heck? Very assuring... Well two months have passed and turns out they do owe us $300, but guess what, I haven't heard from them until today when we got a call from them saying my son needed more work done. According to them my son still has $900 in benefits... What is wrong with these people??? I, nor anyone in my family or friends, will ever return to Clovis Family Dentistry. Very rude, unprofessional and can't keep their stories straight. read more

I normally would say that I love this dentist and I highly recommend it, but after my last couple of appointments here, I'd say that I am quite disappointed. Dr. Lander seems to over diagnose his patients sometimes... with no apparent reasoning behind some of his explanations. Last time when I was there, I had gotten some minor fillings and they put DOUBLE the usual amount of numbing medicine in my mouth for fillings that took 2 minutes apiece. I could HARDLY open my mouth wide enough for them to put a tooth bed in, and without much effort, they took me to the front and told me they couldn't take me because I wasn't listening. I explained (to the best of my ability because I was still VERY numb) that they put WAY too much numbing medicine in my cheeks. I then went back to get my fillings done, as it would be hard to reschedule. Oh and he told me that it'd be best I'd leave if I wasn't gonna listen. I used to love this dentist, but now I am having second thoughts. Also they don't variety payments and don't except certain insurances. Take your money and you teeth to a dentist who cares and isn't hungry for money!!! read more

I gave them 3 stars only because of their technology. It was cool to have a TV in the room to watch, intra oral camera, electronic chart and a Cerec machine. The only bad thing is that they didn't give me prices for the work needing to be done up front. I checked out Clovis Crossings and they have the same technology on a grander scale but they give you choices of treatment for what your insurance will cover and most importantly the price up front before anything is started. The doctor seemed nice and he is open late. If I could give him 3 and a half I would. read more

I feel like this office is pretty unprofessional due to the fact that I called weeks in advance to make sure that my appointment was scheduled and my insurance was accepted with no problem and then when it comes to my appointment date I'm at work so I missed a call I called him back repeatedly and then I finally showed to my appointment to find out that it's been canceled because my insurance is not accepted now I understand that there's a provider directory but my goal was to call them and get everything verified directly and if you don't know what plan you accept that's ridiculous because I made sure in advance so I wasn't wasting my time and that's what they did so I wouldn't recommend just for that one reason got to do your due diligence as a business to make sure you're doing right for your members or patience read more

I do not appreciate seeing staff being berated by their supervisor even if it is subtle. I have witnessed this on more than one occasion. As far as care goes, the staff is very accommodating and friendly, they go out of their way to make you comfortable. I have been satisfied with most of the dental work I received there over the years but I am currently looking for another dentist based on more than a few unpleasant experiences as an observer of the troublesome supervisor and subordinate dynamic. read more

Super friendly and charismatic staff. Office very clean and professional. Had some issues but they had no problem fitting me in right away to fix things. Highly recommend for your dentistry needs. Then come the billing issues. They tell you insurance covers a certain portion and what your portion is. You pay it. Days,weeks,or months later they come to you and tell you the payment you just made was an "estimate". Dentistry by speculation. My wife,myself,and my daughter will not be coming here for our dental work anymore. It's unfortunate because I thought Dr. Lander and his wife were genuine people but this blaming unnecessary money on insurance feels shady and you end up having to be put in a confrontation with them over it. Too bad. Also I had to come back 4 times for a procedure that should've been done once. Several occasions I had to remind Dr. Lander what we were doing as he is constantly darting in and out of different patient rooms and forgets what he's supposed to be doing on you. If the charisma and friendliness was genuine this is a sad goodbye. Seems 50/50 to lull you in to a false sense of security before they pull the you owe us more money game. As far as I'm concerned I paid what was quoted and that should've been the end of the conversation. Again. Not going back to this dental office and I would advice anyone who goes there to keep your receipts and discuss the financing thoroughly. read more

If I could give this place (0) stars I would! The most unpleasant dental experience I have ever had. I had an appointment at 3:00pm I arrived 20 minutes early because as we all know there is paperwork that needs to be filled out if its your first visit, so needless to say I was prepared for nothing because the office was closed for lunch and would return at 3:00pm?! Like, what company does this? Yes every one is entitled to a lunch but as a business stagger the lunches to accommodate your patients. When they eventually opened I was told to wait because they still had not contacted my insurance? (You'd think that this is something they would have had completed prior to my visit) Anyways I filled out paperwork, she still couldn't find my insurance so asked for my insurance card. I waited for 30-40 minutes before I was taken back. There were other people seen before I was and mind you I had an "appointment", when the doctor eventually got to me he REFUSED to address the issue I had come in there for, he stated that I needed to have the issue addressed on my next visit as "he" was busy and had other patients waiting!!? So they just decided to only clean my teeth which felt extremely chalky after they so called "Polished" my teeth. They didn't even rinse my mouth!! I had to ask for water so I could rinse myself, and she said there are cups over in the corner and there is the faucet sink!? I have never had a dentistry preform such mediocre work talk about doing the bare minimum. I felt as if my teeth were 10 times filthier then what they were before I went in. You will be doing yourself a disservice by going to this dentistry so I advise you to not even waste your time and if you are going on a lunch break you can forget about returning to work because the service takes so long!! read more

I went to this office on my mom's suggestion for a small chip on one of my front teeth, hoping they would just patch the chipped corner like I'd had done a few years ago at another dentist. once the doctor came in he told me that the reason that the tooth chipped is that I had something wrong with my bite (which is not how I first chipped the tooth) and said if I didn't get braces (that he would supply) that with just patching the chip the filling would come off again. His second option, and the one he seemed to really want me to do, was to file down the whole tooth and put on a crown! The chip is not that big and not a real problem and he was trying to say a crown was the best option! Whether I decided to get the crown or the braces/then filling it was going to cost me at least a couple thousand dollars. I decided to leave without deciding on work and get a second opinion. The next dentist I went to didn't say there was anything wrong with my bite. While this dentist did say that just filling the chip wasn't likely to last long, he recommended just a veneer (hell of a lot easier and cheaper of an option than a crown). I felt like Dr. Lander was just trying to make as much money off me as he could over something that was way simpler than he was making it out to be. read more

My children and I use to go to Family Dentistry. Unfortunately I felt it necessary to find a new dentist, even if not local. I was very disappointed with Dr. Lander's attitude and remarks. I took my son in for a whitening treatment, they did not tell him to prepare in anyway. After the treatment my sons teeth looked spotty, he was embarrassed to smile and wanted to leave. I asked Dr. Lander if the results are always like that and if that was to be expected. Dr. Lander said "Well what do you expect, if you want them whiter then give me more money." I was shocked. We were in front of his wife and his employees. So as not to embarrass him I pulled him aside away from everyone and let him know I did not appreciate how he spoke to me. And that there was no need to be rude when I asked a simple question. I let him know I was concerned for my sons teeth and had never had a whitening treatment before. He literally waived my comments away and left the room. His wife immediately came in and apologized for him. She tried her best to explain the process and kept apologizing for her husbands behavior. I let her know I appreciated her help but that it was not the first time Dr. Lander had been rude to me or dismissive and that my children and I would not be returning. My mother, sister and I wanted to try a new dentist since our old one kept finding things wrong with my mother's teeth. When we first went here they were nice and friendly. They seemed to doing exactly what we were there for. They said our teeth needed deep cleaning, which we figured since it had been while since we last went to a dentist. They were pushing the 6 months smile on us since my sister was thing of getting braces due to a biting problem, but thought nothing of it. After that I kept getting emails and texts from them. The next time we came in they said our teeth were good, but should sealants on our teeth to protect them among other things we obviously didn't need. They were just looking for money. We set up the next appointment at 8am. 6 months later 2 days before the appointment they say our appointment is at 10am. By this time we already scheduled something else at 11am. There is no way we can do both. When called the, about it they said they changed there hours and only Friday's is at 8am, but don't have an appointment for another month. Why did I only find out 2 days before my appointment that they not only changed their hours, but also changed my appointment time without contacting me? What happened to the emails and texts they were sending? Talk about rude and inconsiderate. I ended up getting an appoingtment at 3pm and they weren't even back yet from lunch. We had to wait about 1 hour to get anything done. Then they wouldn't let us leave without an appointment which in time I will cancel. They obviously changed their hours because they are not getting the customers like they were hoping. Also they have only one dental hygienist (the rest are maybe dental assistants so they can't do much) and every time I've been there she has been rude and always seems cranky. My mother and sister and I will never be going back and do not recommend this place to anyone. read more
