Very disappointed with this dentist's office due to constant miscommunication and lack of transparency. The biggest issue was with insurance -- they do not clearly communicate whether procedures are covered or not. Instead, they say they'll "let you know," and then inform you last minute that you owe a large amount of money. This feels extremely unprofessional and honestly misleading. Patients should be told upfront what is covered by insurance and what isn't, not after the appointment or right before payment is due. It puts people in an uncomfortable position and feels borderline scammy. I expected clear communication and honesty, especially when it comes to finances. I am so pleased with my services here at Dr. Donans office. I've waited to write this review to make sure I gave it a fair rating after multiple appointments. I just completed my fourth here and will now no longer look for another dentist as long as I'm in the valley. Dr. Donan is approachable, he listens to you, he's careful, and he does great work! What I am most impressed about is that he heard when I told him how I wanted my certain teeth to look because of how it was shaped. He tells me "I have a gift for you" and without charge filed my canines down to look natural and uniform with my other teeth! No other dentist has done that for me. I am super grateful. Also, their front desk (Maria) is very precise and knowledgeable about insurances and goes into layman terms so you know exactly what they cover and/if you have an out of pocket charge. New patient here and I have to say I am very pleased. The customer service is fabulous all the ladies are super sweet. Angie was my hygienist who did a wonderful job cleaning my teeth. Dr Donan and His wife Dr Sylvia whom I have had the pleasure of working on my teeth. I had some cavities re done from 20 years ago. They listen to your concerns as for someone like me who hates dental work, they make sure you're comfortable the entire time. I went to Yelp looking for a new dentist and this place had great reviews so I decided to give them a chance. I have double dental insurance so I wasn't worried and scheduled my first appointment. They took some x rays and "checked my teeth" and told me I needed about 6 new filings . Not too long I got a bill in the mail for 96$ . The bill was lengthy in detail , charge for this and that and then the "new patient " charge which caught my eye . I had a bad feeling after that reading other people's similar experiences with these two dentists so I canceled other appointments and never went back. The current dentist I have is amazing! They didn't charges me for x rays , or the new patient charge. . They also told me this dentist pretty much scammed me and couldn't believe those outrageous prices .Turns out, My teeth did not need any work done. . read more

I went to this dentist after seeing a lot of good reviews. This was by far the worst dental experience I have ever had. It took 30 minutes for them to take X-rays. They must have taken over two dozen. The dentist told me I had 9 cavities. Before they even cleaned my teeth they came in to schedule me for multiple appointment to treat the cavities with payment plan options. When they finally cleaned my teeth it took two dental hygienist, which I've never experienced And they were finished in about 5 minutes. Never ever again read more

I've always loved the dentist until I came here. The physician is really uncommunicative. The girl who took me X-rays was allowed to do so unsupervised even though she didn't know what she was doing. My mouth hurt for 2 days after AND THEY WERE JUST SCANS. Additionally, they made it seem like I needed 2 old fillings replaced and needed some other fillings (presumably for cavities), but they replaced all my old fillings and it was much more than I expected. I have liked every other dentist I've been to, but I have only had bad experiences here (including the X-rays) but didn't want to wait a year for insurance to cover another set. Let me cut to the chase for those who won't read the rest - I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Donan. He did an amazing job. Mic drop. While visiting Yosemite I experienced pain in my tooth. I tried to ignore it since my dentist is in New York City. By day three I realized I wouldn't make it. The pain was getting worse, so I hit the internet and found a few dentists in Fresno. I chose Dr. Donan based on the amazing reviews. While I do not usually believe the reviews, this dentist had over a thousand good reviews. First good thing - They got me an appointment immediately. Next, after an exam, Dr. Donan (who is a gentle, thoughtful, talented dentist) advised me that I had an abscess in a tooth that had already had a root canal and while he could re-do the root canal and cap, his advice was to pull the tooth and prep it for an implant. I agreed and had the tooth pulled and the bone graft done. Bam! No more pain. I started a course of antibiotics and Tylenol. Two days later, I woke at 5am and my face was completely swollen and red. I texted a photo to Dr. Donan and he actually called me immediately and told me to go to the hospital. It was nothing to do with his work- I was having a severe allergic reaction to the Antibiotic which had never before happened. He gave me directions to the hospital and followed-up to make sure I was ok. I was amazed that this very busy man whom I just met was so caring. That is just who he is. Back in New York, I saw a dental surgeon to discuss the implant procedure and was told "wow - your dentist did an incredible job." So, thank you Dr. Donan and staff for a job well done with great care. As I said in the beginning, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Donan. read more

Found this office in my network provider, read all the positive reviews and decided to make a appointment. I was looking for a non chain clinic that provides quality service. All the staff is professional and welcoming. I did not have to wait long during my appointment to be seen by the staff. The dentist was thorough in explaining all treatments needed. The dental hygienist was really sweet as well, light with the hands when deep cleaning my teeth. Glad I chose this place to complete all my treatments. Highly recommend if you've ben through some bad experiences with other clinics, and you're currently looking for a new primary Dentist. I went in for a root canal at Dr. Donan's office. My first visit was an exam and review of work I needed. The staff at Dr Donan's office were totally upfront with me about the work that needed to get done as well as a break down of my bill. I have dental insurance and in the past I'd had to learn the hard way about waiting for benefits to reset in order to maximize what I get out of my insurance. The staff made very clear with me about how much would be covered at what times and what bills I was responsible for before the procedure. This was very important for me to go forward with the root canal. Money doesn't grow on trees! They scheduled me in and got it done ASAP. These days its very difficult to get an appointment with our previous regular dentist and I very much appreciate their quickness. After getting the temporary put in I realized the temporary tooth was slightly too high after the numbing wore off. I contacted them and they got me in first thing the next morning. This place tells you they take your insurance but will surprise you with a ridiculous high bill. They have you write their review while you're in the office and make you feel uncomfortable. Just look at their google reviews, those accounts are new and most of them have only reviewed that place. It's such a scam. I wanted to leave a review from my first impression and I'll be updating it as more visits go by. I just recently switched to this dental office because I started to feel less like a patient and more like a number at my previous dentist office (a story for another time.) The waiting room here isn't impressive but it's okay. It's fairly small room with a receptionist window on one side and and padded chairs lined up along the walls on the other side. It kind of reminded me of a low income health clinic setting but I'm hoping their charges will reasonably affordable to make up for their lack of fancy waiting room amenities. I waited about 30 minutes to be seen and my x-ray/exam was fairly typical but I will say they use a dental camera to show you actual photos of areas of concern which is really helpful patient education. A couple of the things that put me off: 1. The financial coordinator area is awkward. It's a small little high top counter area right in front of the waiting door and it's unwelcoming. They should making that area more comfortable and semi-private because not all financial discussions are easy good news. 2. I actually stood there for about 15 minutes discussing my concerns about the cost and what my insurance did/didn't cover and I felt a bit exposed because people in the waiting room as well as patients in exams rooms hear out whole conversation. I ended up stopping my questions abruptly and called them back to discuss the rest of my concerns at a later time. *Update* I tried this place a couple more visits including a regular cleaning, a quote braces and a deep cleaning. After paying quite a big chunk of money here, I was not impressed with the tools, experience or customer service so I ended up leaving after less than a year. Maybe they are decent enough for some people but for as much as dental care and braces cost, I prefer to spend my money else where. (P.S. the quote for braces here was more than an actual orthodontist office. Shop around.) read more

When I went to my new dentist they said that it wasn't put on properly and now I can't get a new one due to insurance will not cover a new crown for 5 years!!! I've been there about 6-7 times throughout the years and never had an issue until most recently. Whenever dental work is required, I always inquire about my share of the cost and I was informed that my insurance had a budget of $1,000. I immediately scheduled the dental work; however, I was caught by surprise when they were finished and stated I had to pay a few hundred dollars. The only explanation they could provide was that the employee "made a mistake" however I wouldn't have scheduled the work knowing I had to pay so much or I would have done half the work now and half the work later to give me a chance to save up. The front staff was very unapologetic and were quick to take my credit card after promising to call my insurance to reduce my share of the costs.
