I recently did a putter fitting at Club Champion in Reno with Nate Brady and it was a great experience. They use SAM PuttLab tech to measure almost every aspect of your putting stroke and provides an objective analysis to help you understand what length/style/loft/lie angle fits your stroke best. What I liked most is that there didn't seem to be any sales-side agenda steering me toward a brand/higher price point etc. Nate genuinely wanted me to end up with the best putter for me -even if it was the one that I brought in to the fitting and it needed a minor adjustment. What I ended up with is a great custom putter fit just for me. Yes, you may pay a little more at Club Champion because of the skilled fitting and customization options but it is well worth it. MISLEADING AND DECEPTIVE CORPORATE ADVERTISING!!! Buyer beware. Read the fine print before committing to anything. The club fitting is $400, not $100. You must make a purchase on the fitting day to get a reduced fitting fee. The local employees are professional fitters and do a great job fitting you for new clubs. They were courteous and apologetically started the conversation by stating the advertised fitting prices may appear deceptive to some people. That opening statement left me with much respect for the employees, and very little respect for Club Champion's corporate advertising practices. I booked a full bag fitting and after the brief conversation my fitter decided it was best if we stuck to 2-3 club types, so we went with driver and wedges as those were what I felt my biggest needs were. I mentioned a couple of brands I was fond of and looking to try (Cobra, Taylormade, and Mizuno). The fitting itself was very so-so, Matthew was not a great listener as I only tried Taylormade and Titleist product, not one Mizuno or cobra in the entire fitting. Ended up getting a driver shaft and two wedges (roughly $800). I had my driver shaft re-tipped (by a different *reputable* pro-shop) to fit a different driver head and after less than 6 months of play the shaft broke. I took this back to both business' both of which have told me they won't warranty the shaft because I didn't buy it at the pro-shop and it wasn't altered at the place of purchase so now, I am doing the run around with the manufacturer. Before the warranty issue Matthew would've maybe gotten three stars on this review, he may know a lot about golf, but his customer service is severely lacking. -Not a great listener or communicator. -He was more concerned with me writing him a review than his customers actual satisfaction, so here is your review -He waited until I left the store to call me and tell me they likely won't warranty the shaft, when he knew very well immediately after I told him what happened. -Does not appear very professional. Looks like he just woke up, every time I went to the business. -Never called for the follow up with how my clubs were. *Claimed he was going to call the day I came in to drop off the broken shaft* Spend your money with a business who actually care about their customer base. Excellent fitting with Master Fitter/Builder Matthew Schutts. I scheduled a fitting for wedges and putter and he was even able to make a little extra time to check out my irons. He was able to make minor adjustment to my own wedges and irons previously fit by PXG, I'm talking a degree here, a quarter of a degree there, and those minor adjustments help me to hit them in the sweet spot, add distance, and tightened up my dispersion. He really dialed in the loft and lie. He did not try to upsell me on new shafts, although I was ready to get new shafts if that is what I needed. He said the shafts I was previously fit in still matched my swing and we could still use them with my new wedges and irons since he would be building the clubs. He really took his time with my putter fitting, ensuring my new putter really felt right in addition to performing under all sorts of different conditions. I have been to others for fitting before and this was the absolute best experience. Not focused on sales, or changing my swing, just getting the absolute best clubs for the swing I currently have so I can enjoy golf even more this year. Plus they have all the equipment you could want, so you aren't limited to just the most common brands. I was able to explain to him what I was looking for in my irons and he was very accommodating and worked with me on finding the best set of clubs. 400$ dollars wasted. I told my appointment setter that I'm new to the sport and looking to get just irons with a 1500$ dollar budget. Still wanted a full bag for the specs and a road map for what to buy in the future. Had no measurements taken for shaft length or lie angle. After 5 hours of swinging and still not even being finished with the full fitting they promised would take 3 hours. I was presented with a 6,200$ full bag build and 3500$ of that being the irons. Their secondary choice for me was still 2,000$ dollars. After saying both options are out of my budget I was left with no choice but to pay $400 for the fitting and leave with nothing. I stopped in to discuss a club fitting with Matthew and was pleasantly surprised by how much this place has to offer. It's very spacious and nicely decorated inside with coffee and other drinks available for guests. Their club selection is extensive and I think would have something for everyone. As for the fitting itself, my experience throughout the process was extremely positive. We discussed some logistics like budget, etc. before we got down to work. Matthew is incredibly knowledgeable, and the technology available here is top notch. I couldn't be happier with my experience. Club Champion is the place to go if you're looking to take your game to the next level. I recently had a driver fitting with Matthew and was extremely impressed with his knowledge and understanding of swing data. I am an ex long driver, so it is difficult to find a driver suited to my swing speed. Within the first hour of the fitting, Matthew had me set up with a driver that was putting up very impressive numbers. It took just a couple of weeks to get my driver and yesterday was the first time on the course with it. My new driver is an absolute monster! I was hitting bombs down the middle with little effort. I even went driver/wedge into a couple par 5s. Well worth the money! I'll never buy stock clubs off the rack again. I will also add that the facility is very nice and clean.
