Club Fit In Briarcliff; has to potential to come one of the best fitness clubs in the area but they need to hire a new Facilities manager. It took more than a year to repair the shower stall that had a missing shower head, knobs, holes in the walls and a broken drain in the Mens locker room. This is after informing the front desk over 5 times. It was only repaired after 13 months, thanks to a club manager who showed the pictures to the facilities manager. One of the 3 automatic paper towel dispensers in the men's locker room, is always broken when I attend 3 days a week. Bathroom Scale mat is peeling off and just needs to be glued back down. Parking lot needs to be swept to remove a lot of trash on the grounds and drainage issues repaired and sections of the parking lot needs to be sealed and re-striped. They need to order a few more new basketballs and tennis rackets and have them signed out for use, at the front desk; since they say members steal them. This would stop this from happening and insure good equipment. The facilities manager needs to have a check off list and check all the areas in the club, to repair them without having members report these issues many, many times to the front desk and nothing still gets repaired! They have a great selection of exercise equipment, and amenities like Jacuzzi, Sauna and Steam rooms, indoor swimming pool, basketball courts, running track, tennis courts and racquet ball courts.. Service is good, always plenty of towels and the locker rooms are kept clean by the great attendants. Front desk people is very friendly and guest relation staff are great. They just need better management of the facilities. Members should not have to point out items that are broken for a year to be repaired or replaced. read more

I've been a member for a while. My wife plays CF in Briarcliff and it makes sense for both of us to belong to the same club so I bear with it. They have cancelled three tennis clinics I signed up for and never notified me for various reason. Once it was full and they had just changed their system so I emailed the coach. Its full you'll have to leave he said. So I said oh I emailed you. When? Today. Oh I don't check my e-mail during the day. When do you check it i thought. Another time they cancelled for weather but no notification and it wasn't raining when I got there. Stopped hours before. It's understandable to cancel just call me or text....recently I was having trouble signing up so I called the front desk and they said they would take care of it. Then I see the coach walking out as I'm walking in. They say it's on 6 great. Not on six though. Another coach says it's in the bubble. But it's not in the bubble. It's cancelled. Fine, but why doesn't the club have a system? It's so annoying. Arrange and babysitter, get the time to head up there(I'm half hour away) get there all pshyched to play tennis and nothing. Courts are nice and so is the gym. Staff (non tennis) are all friendly. Front desk staff very cheerful stuff is always clean. Towels are plenty. Showers new enough. Just wish they would get a system for cancellations. read more

Two of my friends went there by invitation of a member that Made this seem like an exclusive country club only to find the location outdated and frankly boring. You want a nice gym go to lifetime or equinox. U want a great deal check out club fitness or 24 hr fitness. U want crazy circuit classes go to orange fitness. If u r self motivated check out beachbody fitness on demand. Anything is better than this sad place. For Ondemand yoga alo fitness is the way to go n only 100 per year. read more

Extremely outdated, coming from Planet Fitness thought I was getting an upgrade? The only thing they have over other clubs in are tennis courts, which was a nightmare trying to take advantage of. Management is awful they are under the impression they are still the gold standard they were back in the 90's which is no longer the case at all. I was a member for over 17 yrs. Recently the club changed its billing policies. When I tried to discuss it w/ them the GM, she stated it's our new policy. If you leave we understand. I was actually thinking considering to leave anyway b/c they are the most expensive gym in the area, their equipment is extremely old. It's been yrs since they purchased any new equipment, their lockers are typically not too clean, steam room is rarely cleaned, & staff is never seen in the gym maintaining it, So now instead of paying $135 a month, I now pay under $400 per yr w/ a gym that has brand new equipment, cleaner, better environment & very friendly staff. Although the price is a pretty penny to join, it has all the ammenties you could want in a gym. Basketball court, a few tennis courts, a lot of racquetball courts, great equipment. Its never really that busy except for peak hours. The staff is always friendly and they offer so many classes and services. You will never be judged here! I can't speak for the women's locker room but the mens has a sauna and steam room with towels at your pleasure. They have a cafe that you can get just about anything you want. I am a daily member and couldn't imagine going to any other gym on a regular basis. read more

Club Fit JV is a nice club, don't get me wrong. It's just that once you've been to the Briarcliff branch, you feel like a second class citizen. JV tends to cater more to the "everyday Joe". Contractors just off work who come to pump iron, soccer moms who come to work out but look like normal women, not dolled-up workout wear models. The tennis program is active, but not as active as Briarcliff. On the other hand, it's easier to get a court here. Their tennis teaching staff is smaller than at Briarcliff, but the pros here are quite good (head pro Hal is the best). Facilites are good but definitely a notch below Briarcliff. They recently redid a pool and a major complaint is that they did not design a zero entry section like at Briarcliff. If you have very small kids, this is quite important. It's a nice place, and if Briarcliff didn't exist, it would get 4 stars. My same complaint about price exists here too, since the rates are only a few bucks different for the two clubs. For an additional fee, you can get dual club privileges, which I opted for. read more

Dan S. sounds like a pompous jerk. Club Fit JV is a great gym. They offer a ton of classes for various levels of fitness. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Instructors are super attentive. The clientele is a mix of gym rats and everyday people. This is not one of those intimidating meathead gyms. What. A. Gym. Beautifulllllllll ! Wow do i love working out here. It's so big, so many machines and just so much! I never have to wait for a machine like most gyms, the machines are always working, space on space to do whatever you want. They have private areas to workout for the less public workout people Bball courts, tennis, racketball, track rooms. There are machines I have never even seen! The pool is WARM so its perfect for swimming, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, THERES A DRYER IN THE LOCKER ROOM. Recommend! read more

Club fit is an aging business. Going the way of blockbuster. The customer service is so poor it always feels like a money grab. Very murky hold policies that always seem to turn into a full monthly payment. With so many alternatives (Peloton especially). This is their opportunity to retain clients. I swim almost daily A few staffers keep popping up and offer suggestions & tips regarding a workout schedule & program. Other clubs I've joined have gotten "old" quickly but Briarcliff hasnt. THIS PLACE IS THE WORST!! The reason they're profitable is because they scam people. I was a member for 6 months. I cannot even tell you the amount of times they have overcharged my credit card. Then after I cancelled my membership they had the nerve to charge my credit card $192 and when I called the manager she said they don't give refunds. First of all, how do you charge me $192 when my monthly bill was only $108??? I shouldn't have been charged in the first place yet you won't give me a refund? OK, I'll be reporting you to the Better Business Bureau, and will never recommend this place to anyone, ever. The place isn't even worth the hype anyway. The only reason they're still in business is because it's the largest sized gym in the area. You're better off going to NYSC. GOODBYE club fit. read more

I've been a member for the past 3 years. As far as a health club, they really are top notch. The personal trainers are fantastic, and hold many certifications. They really understand fitness and how the body works under "fitness pressure". Their qualifications are bar none. Take a look on line so you can see their qualifications along side of their bios - that's what I did. I was extremely intimidated when I first showed up for a workout, but I tried something called "The Circuit" and the trainers walked me through the workout machines. That's a great was to get initiated into the workout machines, but now, I use the women's only area, because I feel more comfortable. The group ex classes are pretty intense as well, with Zumba and body pump. Love when they bring a dj into the zumba classes. It really is like a big party and a great workout combined. Heard they are bringing the Barre Method in, so that should be another great workout. Massages are nice as well; wish they had someone to do facials though... Club Fit really caters to all age groups, and I like the fact that my kids enjoy themselves as well. My son gets himself lost in the fitness center and on the basketball courts whenever he can . The club is great about special activities and evening events as well. They have chillin 'n grillin events in the warmer months, and comedy nights and other evening events during the winter months. It's been almost three years and I love this place as much as I did then! Quality instruction and classes, knowledgeable private and group instructors, a variety of classes aimed to satisfy different age groups and great food. I don't think I have ever had any unpleasant interactions with any of the employees and maybe the only negative is listening to the noisy and messy swim team when they get ready for their practices and then return for their showers afterwards. They kind of take over. But it's all good! The positives certainly outweigh this negative for a 5 star rating!!!!! read more

Very disappointed in management for deciding that I was not entitled to a membership discount. I produced a letter to the membership personnel from the Head of EMS  stating my qualifications. As a 911 Dispatcher for 20 years, former police officer,  former Fire Commissioner, a current EMS first responder, CPR,  AED certified, A EMS driver when needed, radio communication specialist.  All of these are a vital service to our community.  Remember the fire here last week ,it was  the 911 dispatchers that sounded the alarm for the response.  Its  the 911 dispatchers who help the community  behind the scenes and are very dedicated to helping others in the worst of times.  We are the ones who help you preform CPR on your loved one, we instruct you in how to stop bleeding, we help you deliver your baby.  We  are there for you before the fire, police and ems arrive to calm and instruct you if needed.  Behind the scenes we are the heartbeat of Emergency services in your community.  In the minds of management only Police Officers, Fire Fighters, and EMT are entitled to any discount, but being a 911 dispatcher does not deserve the same equivalent. this is backwards thinking. read more

I was a member for nearly seven years and although they do offer a number of things within a membership the negative consistently trumps the positive. I found it difficult to deal with billing, besides being complete snobs it seems that each task would take them five extra steps just to get to the point. My family and I really did love this place at one point, the nursery and energy center was pretty good (except during kids camp) but over a period of time heart of the gym just became dull and unwelcoming. For the price they charge I could get dull and unwelcoming some place else. read more

PROS: Great instructors, many classes, lots of equipment, nice pools. CONS: (1) Many unsupervised and poorly behaved kids. They change in bathrooms and showers while people are waiting, they walk shoulder to shoulder and walk into anyone in their way, and they are loud and out of control. This is different than what I have experienced in other clubs. I don't mind kids, but these kids need to be more considerate of the rest of us. (2) Unpleasant management. If there is a problem at the club, a trainer or instructor and the MOD handle it well. When the General Manager or Fitness Director call to follow up, their negative and condescending way of speaking erases all of the good will that the trainer/instructor/MOD created. Problems usually get resolved, but their attitude and way of speaking is offensive. (3) Member Services can't be bothered. I had questions about my renewal notice which contained minimal information and which was wrong. The woman I met with was so unhelpful that I began to think about not renewing. I also asked her a question that she couldn't answer and she was going to get back to me. That was a week ago and I haven't heard from her yet. I've been thinking all week about not renewing. People complain about the cost, but I do five classes a week, so for me Club Fit is a bargain. At some point the great classes aren't worth the aggravation, though, and I am looking for a nicer club or studio rather than renewing my Club Fit membership. read more

First off let me say I love this gym! Never overcrowded, never come in feeling judged. Great trainers and very nice staff always willing to help or answer your questions! The reason I am giving this gym 4 stars is strictly on the monthly member price ! For some it may be a little pricey but all of the classes and amenities they offer make it so worth it ! If your looking for a place to just come once a week this is not the place for you!
