I really didn't want to leave a negative review, but after some reflection, I feel other first-timers and newcomers should know about my experience. I initially took a free intro class here and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. Pilates always seemed intimidating, but I found that, while it's a tough workout, it's not as scary as I thought. The sense of camaraderie in class and the challenge of improving my strength was fun! After the intro class, I continued to attend Level 1 classes to get more comfortable with the routine and the machine. My third class was with Laura, and unfortunately, it was a turning point for me. I'm aware that I'm not the fittest person in the room--strength training is new for me, and I've never shied away from acknowledging that. I run half marathons but wanted to try Pilates for overall strength, so I stick to Level 1 classes for now. During that class with Laura, she stood at my machine the entire time, correcting me in front of everyone for nearly every move. While I appreciate correction, especially for hands-on learning, it felt overwhelming and discouraging to be corrected constantly in such a public way. At the end of class, she told me I needed to focus on getting fitter and that I'd "get there" eventually. I tried to brush it off, but it definitely made me hesitant to return. A few weeks later, I joined a friend at another location--much further away--and had a completely different experience. The class was still challenging, but I felt supported and was able to keep up much better. I've even seen physical improvements, like toning in my arms and legs, which is exciting! After a 1.5-month break, I returned to the original location, only to find myself in another class with Laura. I'd forgotten why I typically avoid her classes, but this time, I was determined to show up as my strongest self. I felt confident, especially with my progress. Despite my efforts, Laura again singled me out multiple times for corrections, even when I felt I was keeping pace with the class. During a particularly tough sequence, I couldn't do many reps but pushed myself to do as much as I could. Laura came over, told me I was doing fine, and reassured me not to worry about keeping up with the others. I felt relieved. But when she turned to the other new student, she spent much more time correcting her, and then, in front of the entire class, said, "Sorry, everyone, we have some newbies here, and it's taking a while." At the end of class, Laura complimented the other new student, telling her she just needed to "listen and she'll get the hang of it." When she got to me, she said, "You'll get there, you need to get fitter." In that moment, I felt mortified. I had thought I was keeping up, doing my best, and challenging myself just like everyone else. A few of the other students even stopped me in the parking lot to tell me I did great and weren't sure why Laura said that. That's when I realized it wasn't just in my head. While I'm trying not to let her comments discourage me, I've decided I'll be attending classes elsewhere in the future. It's important to me to feel encouraged and supported in my fitness journey, not singled out in a way that leaves me feeling worse about my efforts. read more

Nicole's classes have been the best in the city that I've been to so far (I've tried many studios and instructors with classpass). You won't "sweat" so much but they leave me feeling so sore the next day in a good way, working muscles I didn't even know were there!! She's also great about correcting your form which I really appreciate as someone getting back into it after a long break. read more

I'm not sure why I continue to give Club Pilates a chance but visiting this location was the final straw. I visited this location while in town for a close family funeral to blow off some steam and get my mind off things. When I arrived, the instructor was not welcoming at all and gave an impression of "what is this black girl doing here?" Shortly after class started, mind you there were only THREE people in class, the instructor walks up to my reformer and grabs my phone and tells me no phones allowed. I explained to her that I needed my phone by me (on silent) in case my family needed me. I even go into detail of why they may call me. She continues to walk away with my phone (aka my personal property) and says she can put it at the front desk on ringer. I immediately left class after this embarrassing interaction. When did we stop caring for humans?? How could I continue to stay in class where the instructor had no professionalism (grabbing my phone) or empathy? I spoke to the manager later in the day where the lack of empathy continued. This seems to be a consistent theme around all Club Pilates studios (I have visited 4 studios across 2 states). If you're looking for a pilates studio where the instructors are welcoming to ALL, professional and empathetic, stay away. read more

Good clean studio. Friendly staff (Alex). Instructors are great- Mary gives clear instructions and motivates you. Good cross section of clients re ages & fitness ability. Prices are reasonable for reformer Pilates. No issues when I cancelled my membership but I couldn't find a studio equal to it for the price so I rejoined. read more

All the bells and whistles of a fitness room, but a shockingly bad and boring Intermediate class. Sheree was unwelcoming and rude from the beginning. 60% of the class time we were using our feet to "jump" from the reformer's foot stand. No countdown, no encouragement, no variation (ie "if you want a challenge, try this..") While jumping, Instructor told us to get all our energy out and I felt like a child on a trampoline. I was bored. Ultimately, I feel like the instructor was unprepared and filled our time at the end of class with floor stretches (why not use the reformer to stretch????) Boost Pilates is way better! read more

Been gatekeeping this place since I love it and don't want others to find it. Love this studio! I've tried Pilates at other places and yoga, which I know is different, and this is is the one that I've stuck with. It's not a super intimidating workout with bodies of all shapes and ages taking the classes. It's super clean, and the staff takes measures to keep it that way. The manager Alex is awesome. She runs a tight ship, but she does it because she cares for both the clients and teachers and wants the best for everyone! read more

I really wanted to love this location. After taking some time off from doing Pilates I signed up for an unlimited plan at this location. The owner who signed me up, was very pleasant and great during the registration process. The staff, however upon my arrival was very rude and could be heard discussing clients in the front during class. Since I have an unlimited pass, there are times where I would do two classes, and that seem to be an issue for the staff and the comments that they made were truly unprofessional. However, because Pilates is something that I want to do, I ignored them. I was even called out by an instructor while stretching saying oh I bet the girl over there who was here for the early class... she's taking two omg! On Saturday when I arrived for my class, a man hit my vehicle in the parking lot. I did not want to be late for class, so the police was called and I went into the studio for class. While preparing for class I was informed that I could not have my phone in the studio and then it had to be left in the cubby. The person in the front was aware of what happened with my car and why I needed my phone. I left the studio and went inside in my car as to not disturb the other people who were there for class. Once I spoke with a manager I asked her when did his policy regarding cell phones become effective and why wasn't it disclosed and enforced previously. Her response was we are private studio and we have the right to enforce whatever policies we want. I informed her that I have seen several ladies on the reformer prior to class with their phones and even checking their phones during class. Her response was nasty and inconsistent. I asked to speak with the owner and to have a copy of this policy sent to me. She then stated "you're not speaking to the owner. Yeah no that's never gonna happen. I don't care if you talked to her initially." I then asked to cancel my membership and she said that I would have to pay all these fees and un hung up in my face. I have never experienced anything so unprofessional in my life. I am not allowed to transfer to a different studio only left to pay ridiculous fees to be disrespected and forced to comply with random and inconsistent policies depending on how the staff is feeling. I truly just want to transfer to another studio and without in a peaceful environment. This is absolutely ridiculous and unfair. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Completely unprofessional for the 15 minutes I was there, BEFORE getting kicked out in the middle of my workout for not wearing socks. I was on my reformer when Laura in front of the whole class shouted asking me if I had Pilates socks. I said no, keep in mind I've been to boost, trufusion, sweat + soul, and not once have I been forced to wear Pilates socks. She then said she contacted the manager over text and I have to either buy their socks or LEAVE. Absolutely uncomfortable and unacceptable. Don't waste your time or money coming here! read more

Pilates Rice Miliatary is a scam! they will charge you fees, send you out to collections within two weeks not contacting the member to see if they are going through a personal emergency or not. In my case I had emergency surgery and it was doing the pandemic- so I could not attend class for a month, I received no call from Sandra or Alex regarding my account! I received a call from a collection agency demanding payment for a $1080, only I owe at best $383, I was shocked! I contacted Alex and she said I did not owe that much but she would have to charge me late fees for two months on top of regular member fee of $199! I received a special for $159 for three months ! yet Alex insisted on charging me the full rate. This location is not good, they are not organized they are only interested in money - at least three times I receive alert saying classes was canceled because they did not have instructor! yet I NEVER was credited! to send someone during a pandemic and while sick to collections after only 3 weeks of non activity is ridiculous and I would not suggest anyone join this location- you will be in collections for one missed session! Nicole who I never heard of or spoke to about my account your response seems really good but the facts are not correct NO ONE reached out to me and when they did a text was sent from unknown number - just like ALEX emailed me stating she charged my card on 9/4 not 9/2 your facts are not correct ! She should have emailed me back then! Additionally humans have emergency where they are incapacitated! And can not call or respond ! And a gym membership was last thing on my mind after having to undergo surgery! However once ALEX was informed August 30 what had taken place she never once requested documentation never expressed empathy at all she was collecting money ! So please do not write a response as though your studio is so compassionate this matter could have been resolved on a better and peaceful way but the way your office handled is consistent with other reviews I see online ! I paid $200 although my fee was $159 ! I informed Alex I would call her back ! In one week ! To sit $200 in which was wrong amount but I was tired and not wanting to engage in this situation any longer - she charged my card $284 with late fees she claimed accumulated during the month of August mind you I never set foot in your studio at all in August ! Alex admitted she had over charged for the month of August and stated she will refund $40 . It took me two weeks to get ahold of Alex I went to showroom and called constantly !!!! When a call from collector came my way! Your staff is unprofessional and I stand by my words ! Good luck as bad business makes a closed business! read more

Club Pilates has a lot to offer. They have classes with different levels of difficulty and they also have a variety of classes to keep things interesting. Their instructors are very professional, engaging and encouraging. I enjoyed the free trial and I became a member ($89 per month) . I only took one class before I found out I was pregnant and several issues came up and I couldn't exercise any more. I asked to freeze my account ($15 per month) for a month and then ended up cancelling my membership. I was charged another $89 for their 30 day cancellation policy. They did wave the cancellation fee of $100 but the manager didn't think the second charge was unfair. While I understand the terms of the contact, I do believe that they could be more considerate of my situation, this is a health and fitness club after all and the customers' wellbeing should be a higher priority for them. I just know that I paid $200 for the one class I took! and now that I'm ready to workout again I prefer to find a place that care more about their customers. read more

Joining Club Pilates Rice Military was the best thing I have done for myself in a long time. When I started a year ago, my strength level was low, I had joint pain and I was always tired. Now I am stronger and have more endurance. The owners and staff have always been super friendly and supportive when I have had questions about the exercises and how to prevent injury. I love the group classes and that each class is different. I never get bored! read more

To the previous "reviewers" noting that Joseph Pilates never intended to create a sweat shop with loud music. For those who like that sort of workout, I would go to a Zumba class. There are in fact more active options in the mix, so please feel free to ask specifics. The workouts are effective without extreme movements and loud sound effects. Great if you're looking for more of a rehab versus a workout. Music is VERY quiet so be prepared to listen to the person next to you breathing. The classes are very relaxing and you will not break a sweat so you can go right to work.... (take that as a positive or negative depending on what you're looking for). You will leave class feeling relaxed. If you're somebody who's looking for a Pilates class that'll get you an awesome sweat, workout and pump up / fun time - probably not the place for you. Great for older people. Personally, I continue to come in hoping for classes to finally amp up. So far two of the instructors will give you a great workout but the quiet music is still off putting. Would love for them to crank it up and have us get in a sweat! All of the staff is very friendly. Occasionally a temp instructor will come in and those are classes I try to avoid because it turns more into yoga and breathing - once again making you leave class still needing a workout for the day - aka relaxing classes and not feeling like you're burning anything off. Studio is very clean and calm. People in classes are also very friendly and accepting which is nice. Overall nice studio, great staff, but not your typical exciting reformer class, this is more of a calm rehab Pilates. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. There are so many great Pilates places in Houston do not waste your money here. Not only do the classes not accommodate women who work they also do not change up the schedule. So if you can only make a later in the evening class be prepared to take the same class over and over. I understand there are rules in place for a reason but I have seen many people come in after the 5 min rule. I am normally always on time or early, but there was a wreck so I was a min over the allowed time. The Pilates instructor told me it was fine but the front desk girl who was participating in the class made me leave. As I said before I have seen MANY people come in after the 5 min rule, but since I cancelled my membership they have been very rude. Talk about women empowerment ? I am a single mom and do my best to balance work, take care of my son and stay in shape and I just thought the rudeness of this place is uncalled for. Very disappointing for a business to treat people the way they do. There are other examples of this location being un professional, but I do not have enough room to write it all. read more
