Club Pilates Renton was a truly welcoming, clean & calm space. The front desk was very sweet and knowledgeable. Helpful as well! The instructor for the intro class was direct and knowledgable. She explained how to use the equipment well and how isometrics helps work specific muscle groups done the right way. I appreciate the low impact 50 minute instructor led group classes that has leaned out my body and made me stronger. This is reformer pilates with at least half the class laying down...which straightened my spine 1/4" taller. I appreciate being able to show up tired after work and mindfully following along because I trust the instructors challenging us at our current level without over doing anything. Never boring! I've been coming to this studio since they've opened. The studio is always clean and everyone is super friendly. All the instructors I've had at this studio are amazing. Although I gotta say, Elizabeth is my favorite instructor. She's super patient and provides progressions and helps address any concerns students have about their bodies. I always get a great workout from Elizabeth's classes without feeling like it was a chore. I genuinely look forward to working out after a long day at work. Elizabeth, if you're reading this I hope you know how much we genuinely love attending your classes and appreciate all of your humor... definitely helps take our minds off of the bridges and planks haha read more

I have been going to Club Pilates Renton for 2 months now and love it. Like many middle-age women I am out of shape, moderately overweight, and starting to feel a twinge in my knees when I climb stairs. I knew I needed to get in shape, but didn't want the exertion or joint stress of cardio. I did weight training years ago and enjoyed it but knew I needed more than just strength. So, I decided to give Club Pilates a try. I'm really glad I did. Mostly I have taken the Flow I classes. The classes are mostly done sitting or lying on a reformer, or on a box on the reformer. There is usually a few mat or springboard exercises as well. All the padding and working mostly in the horizontal plane means exercising on the reformer is just more comfortable than exercising on a mat or training with weights. It's very easy on the joints and no pressure points. I absolutely love working out on a reformer. There are about a dozen different instructors, so there is a lot of variety to choose from. They also have classes nearly every hour all day M-F, and until 2 or 3pm on Saturdays. That is a huge plus for me. At other gyms I have joined or considered, classes are often only available in the morning and evening, with nothing offered afternoon and sparse offerings in the later morning/midday. I hate mornings, and always feel like I need a brain break in the afternoon, so having class options during the day is very important to me. A note on scheduling - some classes fill up a week or two ahead and you may have to sign up on a wait list, but you can cancel without paying as long as it's 12+ hours before so a few people will usually drop out. So far, I've gotten into every class I've waitlisted for. I have found the classes to be pretty consistent between instructors in terms of the difficulty. At least for individual moves. Some classes are more difficult because of more reps or faster pacing. The differences seem to be mostly in style and focus. Here is a rundown on some of the instructors; Kay - focuses on controlled movements and good form. A lot of slow burn exercises that don't require big movements but really target a certain muscle group. She uses the Pilates ball a lot and also does side-laying exercises every class. Those are some of my favorite moves, and most the other instructors only sprinkle them in occasionally. One of my favorites. Stacie - more energetic with a steady stream of movement and smooth transitions. She gives very clear instructions so it's easy to follow. She also focuses more on compound exercises. I was very sore and tired after my first class with Stacie, and didn't take her class again for a couple weeks. It was just too much for my 2nd ever reformer class. Now that I'm getting some strength and stamina built up, I am enjoying her classes. Elisa - more variety than most. I'm getting to the point where I recognize most of the reformer exercises in a typical class, but hers often include things that are new and different and I love that her classes are never boring. Elizabeth - classes remind me a lot of weight training, so much so that I feel like I could achieve the same thing better with dumbbells. I did a class with her where we did a whole series of upper body resistance exercises using the reformer straps while standing next to the reformer (rows, bicep curls, etc.). Pulling sideways and up when the resistance is horizontal felt really awkward and hurt my elbows and wrists. It feels more natural and ergonomic to do those types of exercises with weights, or at least sitting on the reformer and pulling straight, which I've done in other classes. I took two classes with her and didn't enjoy either so I decided to stick with other instructors for flow. But everyone likes different things. Heidi - she was out for the month of September so I only just recently took my first class with her, but I really enjoyed it. Her cuing is very clear and concise and she had us do a good mix of targeted and compound movements. Her vibe is warm, friendly, and encouraging. A quick rundown of some of the other classes: Cardio I: A mix of jumping exercises and the regular flow exercises. The jumping exercises use a special board that's kind like a horizontal trampoline, letting you jump while laying on the reformer. Because it's horizontal jumping on a forgiving surface it's easy on the knees and ankles, and boobs aren't flopping around like crazy. I'm a naturally busty woman (G cup), so jumping jacks and the like are painful for me. Jumpboards are definitely my friend. Center and Balance I: This class is very different depending on who teaches it. Stacie teaches it exactly as the description says - lots of flowing movements, with a focus on dynamic stretching. Elizabeth does a mix of foam rolling and stretching, about equal parts static and dynamic stretching. Elisa teaches it like a regular flow I class. Anissa at the front desk acted like I was somehow being rude by asking a question that she had sent in a text to me .She sent it right before I was doing a class and I have 3 young children at home so can't always read a text right away. It was a simple question "how can I test into level 2?" A 3 sentence answer was apparently inconvenient for her. Her response (with a not nice tone) was it's in the text I sent you. Plus the 3 sentences of what I need to do. I don't know why she needed to add the rudeness. I'm going to switch to LA fitness where it's 130$ a month for the whole gym plus unlimited reformer classes. This place is a hundred dollars more a month. Do you think you'd want to treat the people who pay that kind of money nicely? read more

A year ago I started a journey to lose 90 pounds--gained during COVID. While losing weight, I looked for an exercise I could do without giving up in the first week. Did an intro class at Club Pilates and never looked back. It wasn't really easy at first, but the instructors encouraged me to work my own pace. And I saw women and men of all sizes working out, which made me believe I could do this. It's as much a mind set, and breathing as the exercise itself. Nine months and 90 pounds later, I am still doing it. I have made it part of my lifestyle. I highly encourage anyone looking to better themselves and their health to sign up. A month ago I attended a free 30 min class. I was worried about the usual things before going in: would I like the facility? Would I like the people? Would I like the activity? Could I even DO the activity? Would I feel uncomfortable in a room full of young, fit and skinny bodies as a 50-something, out-of-shape, larger body? It was amazing! This truly was a beginner class where they explained many of the items and terminology. There were people of all shapes, sizes, ages, abilities, and colors. I have never felt more comfortable going somewhere as a beginner. I decided to sign up for a membership and will be completing my 10th class today. I'm surprised that I can feel a difference already. When I started, Elizabeth had to give me some modifications to be able to do some of the exercises with my "bad" knee. After 10 sessions, my knee is stronger. I have even been able to walk up a flight of stairs without holding the rail. I couldn't have done that a month ago!
