Oh my goodness, this British gastropub is the real deal! I quickly checked the Yelp reviews, and…read moremade an evening reservation, not checking what the parking situation was like. Well, my bad - their website includes multiple accessible places to park in and around the village. That said, we got it, and decided to belly up to the bar for a better look at the offerings and the place in general. Matt O was our server. I started with a delicious Scottish Ale, and my companion had a glass of wine. Prices are reasonable. My companion ordered and raved about the Shepherd's Pie. I had Bangers & Mash - sausage (3 pieces) with imported horseradish mustard, mashed potatoes, gravy, delicious baked beans. It went perfectly with my pint! It was a warm afternoon so the glass garage doors were opened wide and folks were eating and drinking outside in the beer garden too. The vibe was loud, lively and very positive. Music was old school British Invasion '60s style. Good times seemed to be had by everyone. We finished with a locally produced Chocolate Rum Cake - it was rum forward and smooth, dark chocolatey! Highly recommended.

The atmosphere was charming, the décor was exactly what we were hoping for, and the menu felt genuinely true to British cuisine rather than a themed interpretation. Unfortunately, our visit took place on a colder day, and the large garage-style door connecting to the outdoor seating area was left open. As a result, the entire restaurant felt quite cold throughout our meal. Since we were dining with our infant son, this made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience and was our biggest disappointment of the evening. In fact, it was cold enough that we kept our coats on throughout dinner, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the atmosphere the restaurant had worked so hard to create. We also ordered the fish and chips. The quality of the fish was very good, and it was clearly prepared with care. However, the portion size left something to be desired. The meal included only one medium-sized piece of fish, which felt small for a dinner entrée, especially considering the price point. While the food itself was enjoyable, we were hoping for a more substantial serving. Despite these issues, The Last Queen delivered on atmosphere, authenticity, and food quality. I would be willing to give it another try, particularly during warmer weather, as I believe the temperature and comfort level had a significant impact on our overall experience.

Close your eyes and think of a "saloon" and bring it into today…read more You probably envision something out of the Wild West but with all the modern conveniences. You see horses next to a basic wooden building. Dirty floors. Nothing fancy. You see a big porch with places to drink cheap beer. You see a bunch of little tables inside with places to sit down. You might see a dance floor. You probably see a bunch of relics from the country or the west, including cattle skulls on the wall, wooden barrels, saddles, horseshoes, and cowboy hats. You see a lot of references to the Wild West along with Cowboys and Cowgirls. You might see a speckling of some other Americana, like an American Flag - What you are seeing is the Line Shack. My wife and I visited this place for my cousin's wedding reception. When she told me it was at "a saloon" where she met who is now her husband. What I imagined was pretty much spot on with what I experienced. A true country bar with every stereotype wrapped up in one location. Along with my wife, my cousin, and about a hundred other people we had a great time. There was no line dancing, but I was waiting for it. Perhaps another night =) The bartenders and servers were all very nice and very attentive. I can't speak for the prices as the cost was coming out of my uncle's pocket, but I imagine is isn't too expensive. I also get the feeling there isn't a huge selection of bars in the area. Go to the Line Shack and have a good time.
