This place is incredible. And Kim the owner was gracious enough to give us a complete overview of the history of the diner. Food was awesome

Cruisers Diner - The fried pickle slices. They were not good. The ranch and other sauce was quite good.

Service: I think today they had about one server on each side of the diner, so it was a little slow, but there were a lot of people there Food: food is always good. I heard their breakfast is usually amazing. I decided to try their open face turkey and I got the half portion which was a small sliver of turkey not even worth mentioning. But it was good. Their mashed potatoes are the bomb for diner potatoes love them.! Price: $$ affordable Cleanliness: 8/10

For appetizers, we had jalapeño poppers, chili cheese fries, and tater tots. All were very good. For lunch, we had a turkey bacon club melt, a bacon cheeseburger, meatloaf, and something else that I can't remember. All of it came out hot from the kitchen, and was very good. For dessert we had apple pie à la mode, and excellent coconut cream pie. We don't recommend the apple pie, but we absolutely recommend the coconut cream pie. Cruisers Diner is about an hour drive from my house, and just a little over an hour from my sister's house, so it's our favorite place to meet. It is very clean, and affordable, with true diner food. Its location just off of Route 32 makes it very accessible from east and west. Route 62 gives easy access from north and south, too..

Maddy's fit the bill for a break away from work lunch while on the road. Right out of the 50's, this gleaming location greets you with chrome, red bar stools, the requisite "Kiss My Grits" tin sign on the wall, and 50's music piping from the speakers. The special that day: double cheeseburger. $6. In today's economy?? Only $6?? All the menu items were priced nicely, easy on the wallet. While I was tempted to try a burger, I wanted to see how a diner classic would pan out, so ordered the country fried steak. Placed my order, and before I could manage to take in all the deco on the walls the food arrived from the line station right behind the counter. They serve you a steak knife, but you don't need it, the steak is fork ready, as it should be. They give you two sides option, so I went with green beans and taters, of the french variant. Both were spot on, and I left full and satisfied. I think the total bill came in under $10 or right around there. Good food, filling, and super light on the budget - what more can you ask for? If you find yourself in Waverly, OH, and you would like to fill your belly without worrying about a side hustle to pay the tab, head to Maddy's.

Lunch at Woody's Diner: A Buckeye Superfan's Dream…read more If heaven has a diner, it needs to be like Woody's--otherwise, I don't want to go. As a lifelong Ohio State fan, walking into this place felt less like lunch and more like stepping straight into Buckeye Heaven. Every inch of the diner is drenched in scarlet and gray pride--autographed photos, jerseys worn by real players, helmets, and memorabilia that makes you want to stand up and belt out "Carmen Ohio." I knew before even cracking the menu: I was home. Our server, Grace, was all smiles and Buckeye spirit. She gave us the rundown--Woody's has been serving up Buckeye-influenced eats for about 15 years. And it shows. The burgers aren't just burgers here--they're tributes, each named after coaches, players, or football legends. Picking one felt like draft day. Grace recommended the Dustin Burger, named after former Buckeye great Dustin Fox. Now, I'll admit--when I heard "peanut butter on a burger," my first reaction was the same as when Michigan wins a game: complete disbelief. But I trusted Grace. And let me tell you... this was no trick play. This half-pound beauty came stacked with peanut butter, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. It sounds strange, but somehow the combo worked like a perfectly executed Flea Flicker. The bun was grilled, the burger cooked to a juicy medium rare, and by the second bite I needed a stack of napkins big enough to block a defensive line. My wife went with the Tailgate Burger--a powerhouse with house-made BBQ sauce, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, Miracle Whip, and onion straws. Cooked to medium well, it was sweet, tangy, and messy enough to require its own offensive coordinator. She said it was delicious--though maybe a little too "sloppy touchdown celebration" for her liking. And get this--burgers are just the start. The menu is huge, with pizzas, sandwiches, and even big entrees like grilled steak and pork chops. But honestly, when the burgers are this good, I don't know if I could ever call another play. So here's my verdict: Woody's Diner = Buckeye pride + killer burgers + friendly staff = one unforgettable lunch. If you're a Buckeye fan, or just a burger fan, or hey, even if you're that rare soul who just likes food with personality--high tail it to Woody's. Trust me, it's worth it. Until next time, I'm Brian -- and remember to Take the Trip! (And yes, I may have sung the Ohio State fight song all the way home. My wife can confirm.)
