We stopped in while we were at the Yorba Linda country festival. The place seemed like they were in total disarray. There was no ice in the ice machine so we had to go to the bar and ask for some ice in our glass and the bartender was not a very friendly woman to say the least. Why come to work if you're gonna be so negative towards your customers The soda machine was not working properly and would just give us Coke syrup. We asked the nasty bartender for some Coke and she said it was all on the same system. When our food came out, they called us up and just had our food sitting there and went on to take more orders. Not providing napkins or anything else just here you are see you later alligator. Well I stood there until I could get somebody's attention and asked for everything we wanted, especially napkins. What kind of service is this? Why open if you can't properly provide your customers with at least napkins and salt and ketchup and anything else you might need instead of hiding it so nobody can even get it. Kind of strange. We went to the upstairs bar to get our drinks. At least the bartender up there was a really good person and provided us with good drinks. The food was just mediocre. Nothing special. I was kind of let down with my visit this time. The inside was clean, but there was a few tables that still needed to be cleaned off and I'm not sure they had enough people there to keep up. Clyde's Hot Chicken in Yorba Linda is one of my favorite spots for a chicken sandwich. The food is always on point--crispy, flavorful, and super satisfying. But seriously, the waffle fries deserve their own shoutout. They are so crispy and perfectly seasoned. I could honestly just eat a whole basket of those and be happy. There's usually a bit of a wait since everything's made fresh, but it's worth it every time. You can also order online ahead of time for those complaining about the wait times. You can tell they care about quality. The staff is always super friendly too, which makes the experience even better. I'm a fan of their bun sandwiches and love how they also have a breakfast option with an egg on buttered toast, as well as wraps. They also offer standalone wings, tenders and nuggets. I love how you can customize your spice level for any type of chicken! Personally, the original is plenty spicy for me, but I might dare to try a higher spice level in the future. The sides are equally awesome. My entire family (three generations!) loved the potato salad, coleslaw, mac n cheese, waffle fries and crinkle fries. As a fry connoisseur, I love having both options available, as it's sometimes fun to mix and match! To cool down our visit, we topped off our meals with their refreshing milkshakes and also couldn't pass up the chance to indulge in their waffles. I came in to try out the bar Associated with Clyde's hot chicken. The bar was upstairs on the rooftop patio. I ordered criss cut fries and ranch dressing downstairs and went up to the bar for a drink. The cashier told me that my order would be brought up when it was ready. Full disclosure, she also told me that I could order food from the bar and have it brought up. In hindsight that probably would have been the better option. I ordered a drink from the bartender and sat down on the rooftop patio. The cashier from Clyde's came up a few minutes later to talk with the bartender and realized that my fries hadn't been delivered. To her credit she remembered me and my order. She brought them up immediately afterwards but the fries were Luke warm at best by that time. They weren't terrible and I definitely ate them. I believe they would have been much better if they were hot and fresh from the fryer. I'll go back and try again. In Short, this place is fantastic and I don't why anyone would rate it less than 5 stars. With a few more details, I have been there a few times now and it's always been a fantastic experience. The downstairs is nice and has a bar and the patio upstairs is fantastic especially that both levels have massive screens to watch sporting events AND alcoholic beverages. Very clean place. Close to the movie theater and Yorba Linda town center so you can grub here then watch a movie right next door. Service has been great. Staff is very friendly. Reasonably priced for a nice atmosphere. The food has been delicious on every occasion. Chicken strips very juicy and chunky unlike some other chicken places. Original is not that spicy but has a fantastic flavor so if you want more heat make sure to order something hotter than the original. Also, the fries are fantastic. Try them cooked well done. My online order was prepared perfectly. I'm only giving a four star review for this experience because the staff was in the back room the entire time when I came in to pick up my order. I had to take my bag from the customer pick up and help myself to a cup to pour my drink and just as I was finishing pouring, someone came out from the back and said that they had my drink in the refrigerator already poured, and they apologized for not being out front. Ordered fries and asked for ketchup, but they ran out. How does a restaurant built around chicken sandwiches and fries run out of ketchup? And they didn't even bother to walk across the street to a grocery store to get some temporary ketchup. Anyhow, I asked for ranch since they were out of ketchup. They wanted to charge another ridiculous $1. The staff? A bunch of teens who clearly don't want to be there. The owner spent good money making this place look nice but failed miserably at hiring people who actually care about the food or the customers. This place is done for. This was our first time here, and ordered grilled nuggets, and a sandwich. We saw the millionaire option after we ordered and decided to give it a try since usually hot chicken isn't that hot. We signed the waiver and it did not disappoint. Honestly, it was so good and is over 2 million scoville which we can definitely tell this morning. The atmosphere is very cool and it would be a nice spot to watch a game or hang out. It's a cool social environment and the employees were very nice. However, for the price, the food is just not as great as it could be. Feeding just the two of us was pretty pricey, in my opinion, and it took forever to get our food. I would definitely stick to my other favorite chicken tender place over Clyde's. Probably wouldn't spend money there again. The positives were the ambiance, a great old fashioned cocktail, my waffle, and the fries. There is much room for improvement with regards to the food. When the food was delivered to our table, there was no distinction between the two sandwiches, so we had to figure out which was which. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked, but the flavors were bland and just tasted like pepper. I asked for medium spice for all of our orders, but there was a huge inconsistency among the heat level in our meals. My chicken was so spicy that my sinuses swelled. This is coming from someone who reaches for the habanero salsa first. I tasted my son's sandwich, and it wasn't nearly as hot. Not one of us finished our food, which rarely happens in our family. I definitely had diner's remorse because the food wasn't cheap. The combos cost around $15. My cocktail, which was very good, was just over $17. There was a sign that said "happy hour" on the bar top, but I must have missed it. We dined in about 5:30pm. Had to give Clyde's Hot Chicken a try! Reading about this new restaurant that's been open for just 3 weeks it seemed to have the elements of a winning spot. Spicy food - check Fried Chicken - check Upstairs patio - check Bar - check You order first and then find a seat. I ordered the original because hey I gotta see what started it all. I got the "hot as cluck" spice level because I love the spice. The chicken sandwich came to my table and I was excited. I took my first bite and was pleasantly surprised that the chicken wasn't overly battered. The chicken was crispy. The hot sauce had that slight tang and I could taste the hot sauce. It definitely didn't register on the spice thermometer for me but I like things super spicy. The slaw that they top the sandwich with gave a nice fresh and cooling balance to the sandwich. The big slice of pickle was very fitting too. I opted to not get it as a combo because I was saving myself to order from the 1930 Bar. The Bar has beers on tap, wine and cocktails. It also has food that's not on the regular menu. As I was finishing my Original sandwich, Chase came by to ensure that I enjoyed my meal. Asking if everything was excellent. Chase was hustling taking care of all of the customers. He even came back to ask fill my cup of water. I declined, but was impressed to see a server at a quick serve restaurant ask to refill water. I had to go upstairs to check out the upstairs roof patio. As I approached the door, I thought the rooftop was closed. I opened the door and was impressed by how nicely the tables were set up. There was only one table of customers enjoying glasses of wine. I was even more happy to see a second bar, upstairs. As I was recording the rooftop patio, I ran into Ray. A very nice guy. This is Ray's 7th restaurant and wanted to know how I enjoyed my visit. I told him I had a great meal and wanted to see the rooftop and was happy to see the layout and the bar. Welcome to the neighborhood Clyde's Hot Chicken. We've been waiting for you! Clyde's is an excellent new addition to Yorba Linda downtown. Situated adjacent to Terra, Clyde's offers a cool downstairs bar with a faster food chicken restaurant. And it looks like in the coming days/months, they will open up Bar 1930 which will be their rooftop area that will offer exclusive menu offerings. I literally can't wait! We came in last week to check out what all the hype is. We ordered four chicken strips as a combo which included 2 sauces and our choice of side plus drink. They didn't ask us for our preference on sauce and it came with Clyde's special sauce. The choices for heat level are naked (prepared with seasoning salt and no heat), original (cayenne based spice with a sweet flavorful finish), hot as cluck (cayenne and habenero spice with 3 out of 5 fires) and 1930 which is their spiciest option with habenero and ghost peppers spice). Here's my full analysis of our order: **4 chicken strip combo: The naked chicken strips were large, flavorful and chock full of chicken. I was actually really impressed! Also, we LOVED the Clyde's sauce. **Crinkle fries: What a great choice for a side. They are just the right amount of crinkley and salty, while still being not greasy. Yum, I would get these again. **Waffles: These were really delicious and paired perfectly with the chicken. SUGGESTION TO CLYDE: Offer real maple syrup for an upcharge. These waffles are so good, they deserve more than the synthetic Smuckers. **Draft beers: We loved that we could order a cool draft beer from the bar. Note that if you want a draft beer, you have to go to the bar. Don't get confused as they sell bottled beer at the counter. We'll be back and things I want to try include the Skinny Chick (grilled chicken sandwich), the Hot Cauli (cauliflower disguised as fried chicken), the slushy which is lemonade and coca cola as well as the milkshakes (like all the milkshakes). Also, I should mention that everyone in here was SO NICE. Someone even gave my little guy a Clyde's crown which he proudly wore out of the restaurant. I was initially excited because the restaurant itself had amazing aesthetics and looked buddy. As the age old saying goes... looks can be deceiving. The food was ready fairly fast and the workers at the counter were also friendly, so points there. Again, aesthetically the food looked amazing. However, thats the extent of the amazingness. The waffles were kinda eggo-ish with a little packet of cheapo honey. The tenders were moist but flavorless. The heat was nice but in the absence of flavor, its just underwhelming. We had another fun night on the rooftop of Clyde's with tasty food and great service! Joey was a pleasure and everyone was so friendly! The employees welcomed and made a great effort to say goodbye as well! Customer service was on spot! They also have some cool craft cocktails at the upstairs bar and of course beer on tap! Gosh that espresso martini looked amazing!! The roof top really has great appeal as it is a nice spot to be as the sun goes down! They told me they have live music on Wednesdays! Fun! I personally like to order my chicken grilled versus fried and it tastes yummy! Our friends had a salad with strawberries which was great for summer along with the a flat bread pizza with. I was able to take my time to comb through the menu. I ordered the chicken and waffles (spice level: hot as cluck) and my boyfriend got the hot cauli sandwich (original spice level). My waffles were delicious and chicken was indeed flavorful and hot - perhaps a bit too hot, I think next time I would take the original spice level. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his cauliflower sandwich said it was full of flavor and crispy. He loved the waffle fries but personally I thought they were a bit bland& not salty enough. The music choice was country and they have a rooftop bar that doesn't open until 5 PM.
