My friend has mentioned Urban Plates over the years but I never got a chance to try it out until last weekend. For her birthday, she wanted to enjoy a lunch at Urban Plates, which was a delicious meal and first experience for me. I feared parking would be horrendous given that we were meeting on a Saturday, but parking on this side of the restaurant was not bad at all. However, I did not know where the door was, and parked closer to the light on Imperial when I should have parked in the back where the front door of the restaurant was. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted immediately and were asked if we had any questions. Since it was my first visit ever, I did need a few minutes to look over the menu. It was my fault to order an extra side salad without looking at the cost, but one learns from their mistakes. Funny thing is, I normally do not even order extra sides (outside of what the entrees include). Lest, I digress. For it being so early in the morning, there were plenty of seating in the dining room, which was nice since it was not overly crowded and it was a bit too warm to be sitting outside. The employee cleaning the dining room was so kind and gave us a Cowgirl Cookie on the house! For a first time visitor, there are utensils near the register. There are napkins, condiments, and to-go boxes all around the dining room (one near the register/restrooms and the other in the smaller dining room. There weren't enough knives (1 left) but since my friend did not need one, we were okay. For drinking water, there is a water dispenser near the register/condiments/restroom, or one can ask the cashier/server for a cup of water. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal, but my plate was full of oil, probably olive oil, due to my sides. I do not mind, but if you are being health conscious, be sure to choose the other sides, not the Balsamic Brussels Sprouts and the Carrots & Beets. I was eye-ing other entrees on the menu, but that will be for next time! read more

The quality was great, however, broccolini was undercooked. I think I'm caught up with the cost and the quantity. For all I think that this is just a bougie Panera bread. 5/5 for service. The cashiers were welcoming and helpful. Francisco, who was very tentative with our cleanup and very funny to chat with. You can tell someone to enjoy his life/their job just by the interactions you have with them 5/5 ambience. The reason I love Urban Plate is simple: healthy food! It is a place where you can eat a delicious meal even when you are on a diet, and the food is high quality without being too expensive. When they used to have a pass, I went there all the time. I do not go as often now, but every time I visit, I have a great meal. I love UP, even though it had been ages since I'd eaten here. Today I ordered some food to go. I usually order everything online, but decided to actually order at the restaurant this time. Ordering was quick and easy at the counter, and I waited about 5 min for my order. Inside it's very spacious, and there is plenty of seating in the patio area as well. Parking is easy to find, if you drive around to the front of the restaurant there is plenty of it. I ordered the grass fed beef steak, with the beet and goat cheese salad, and brussel sprouts. SERVICE (5/5): This is an order at the register and seat yourself place. You'll get a number and they'll bring out your food in record time (since I believe everything is pre-made)! i need to give it another shot, since this was my first visit. I have been to the Invoice UP a bunch, but not in a while, and they have redesigned the menu a tad. I had the osso bucco, something that used to be seasonal, but now might be a permanent addition. I have had it before, and it tasted good, but the gravy was way too fatty and thin. The shank itself seemed a little small, but that might have been luck of the draw. Like some of its peers in the area, Urban Plates is a fast-casual restaurant offering fresh, made-from-scratch food at reasonable prices. I sometimes view fast-casual joints with restraint, as they can overpromise and be gimmicky. Let's see how this one fared. First impressions -- industrial décor, modern and clean -- like a high-end cafeteria, with counter or kiosk ordering, where you mix and match your proteins, sides, or salads and get assembly-line convenience. The indoor seating is deceptively large, with communal tables, and there's an outdoor patio as well. We ordered two mains for date night: the Beef & Mushroom Braise, and the Grilled Grass Fed Steak with Brussels Sprouts, Truffle Aioli, and Beet Salad with Goat Cheese. The beef braise was quite comforting -- buttery beef chunks, earthy mushrooms, and a gravy-like sauce accented by wine, garlic, and herbs. It reminded us of beef bourguignon. The grilled steak was well-balanced -- rich, savory, earthy, with sweetness and crispiness from the vegetables, while the tangy finish from the goat cheese cut through the fattiness. I ordered Harissa Cauliflower as a veggie side dish. I really enjoy the menu and portions at Urban Plates as opposed to some competitors. The portions and food options go beyond sandwiches, salads and soup. Many people enjoy the side dishes so much that they order 3 or 4 side dishes as a main meal. The lemonade is not overly sweet as well, and tastes like real lemon juice. I feel like the offerings are organic and healthier options. We enjoyed our meals without guilt. My wife and I absolutely loved the food. They have such a great selection on their menu from salads, bowls and burgers, and very healthy options which are much appreciated. I had the beet salad and added blackened salmon on it which was a perfect combo, and tasted amazing. My wife had the avocado cheeseburger and she described it as gourmet and not an average cheeseburger you would get anywhere. Very delicious especially with the avocado which was well presented on the burger. The final piece was the very tasty cowgirl cookie, which was a great little treat for the end of the meal.
