Based on that conversation, I had a clear understanding of what services would be completed and what the cost would be. but when picking up the vehicle, I discovered that some of the services I specifically requested were not performed. To make things worse the bill didn't match what I was told beforehand. I was charged differently than what i expected, and I did not receive a satisfactory explanation for the discrepancy. What frustrates me most is the lack of clear communication. Based on reviews and being a 86 owner, I'd think that this shop would be the best shop to go to. Coming with questions, the concern of a transmission swap was turned down by the owner based on being too busy and only working on "track and manual cars." Not doubting the shop's experience but definitely do not show no care or concern to what could've been a great customer ready to pay for a service. Best shop in the Bay Area for FRS/BRZ/86! Was looking for a shop that specializes in the 86 platform for expertise and quality of work. Came in to get all the fluids changed due to reaching certain miles. As I arrived at the shop, I was immediately greeted by Ezekiel. Very friendly and easy to talk to. We went over what service I requested to have done and he worked on the car right away. Thanks to his full inspection, he brought to my attention some other things that need to be addressed(i.e. brakes, suspension, etc), especially things I may have overlooked when doing some maintenance myself. He showed me when the car was up on the lift and explained what is concerning and any recommendations he may have. He is definitely someone you can trust to make sure your car is in tip top shape, especially since he has owned one himself! Before heading to the waiting area, he let me know the estimated wait time, which was very reasonable, depending on what you're getting done. He offers drinks in his mini fridge and plenty of seats to go around. There's also a great taqueria in walking distance in case your appointment takes a while. When he was all finished, he went over the list of things he has done to the car. He goes over in great detail of what has been done and his explanation is easily understandable. CM Autohaus is many impressive things, but important to me: head mechanic Ezekiel is the premiere 86 specialist in Bay Area. He works on nearly every tracked 86, my GR86 included. Installed my oil cooler, and soon will be installing a BBK and suspension. Ezekiel will do all my maintenance and the more complex mods. I do enjoy wrenching on the more straightforward stuff myself. I do not recommend dealerships touching your car. Ezekiel on the other hand is super knowledgeable, and trustworthy, but what I love the most is how he always takes extra time to teach me something interesting or useful. He also makes himself available to advise on my future mods. Very helpful perspective. I cannot recommend CM Autohaus enough. 10/10 Last point: everyone gets a complementary multi-point inspection regardless what you bring your car in for, and nearly always something turns up, and no it's not to charge me for more problems. Long overdue review. I took my BRZ with a check engine light issue that caused traction control off, and Ezekiel replaced my spark plugs and did all that he could to troubleshoot. CM Autohaus came highly recommended both online and in person, and after meeting Ezekiel and having him work on my 2014 Scion FR-S now I understand why. I took my car in for the notorious noisy/failing TOB issue on these cars. This is a relatively involved 4+ hour procedure which involves taking apart the transmission and also replacing the clutch and flywheel. I wanted to make sure my car was in good hands with someone who has done the job successfully. I'm happy to report that the work was done perfectly and there's zero strange issues or noises afterwards. Ezekiel even took the extra time to adjust the clutch pedal's bite/engagement point to make sure I was happy with it. Aside from the work itself, everything else about the experience was also top notch. It sounds cliche, but it truly felt like my car was being treated as if it was Ezekiel's personal car. Ezekiel is an outstanding and extremely meticulous mechanic! He is the definition of a one-man army. He is a very knowledgeable individual and his prior experience as a Subaru Tech gave him the tools to rebuild my block and make it an enjoyable car again. I had visited his shop for a leak down and compression test after buying my car from a mechanic that had "rebuilt" the block. He discovered that the car has low compression in all cylinders and recommend that I do a rebuild. I asked him if he would do the rebuild for me but he politely declined since I was looking to install an IAG Stage 2 block for my Subaru. Although Ezekiel is a Subaru Specialist, he was only comfortable with doing OEM work. In addition to that, his customer focus is not Subarus. After a long time of convincing and researching on his end and my end, he finally agreed with doing my custom project. Throughout the rebuild, he found the previous shop that did the "rebuild" cut corners on a lot of things and basically lacked the basic Subaru knowledge a specialty shop should have. After Ezekiel's hard work and abundance of Subaru knowledge, my car is now back to OEM spec with additional aftermarket goodies, making it a sweet daily driver.
