BEWARE -- DO NOT GO HERE!! Horrible customer service, questionable diagnosis, and a very disappointing experience from start to finish. We took our work van to Stress Free Auto Care after finding them on Yelp. They were close to home and, more importantly, veteran-owned. As a company that supports veteran nonprofits, we were excited to support another veteran-owned business--even though their pricing was higher than other shops we considered. Our van had been having issues starting and randomly shutting off. They quickly diagnosed it and sent us an estimate for around $1,200, which we approved. We were told it would be ready by the end of the day and picked it up the following morning. The very next day, the van broke down multiple times on the freeway, nearly causing accidents. This was extremely dangerous and terrifying. We immediately contacted the shop and were told to bring it back. We had to leave the van at a jobsite and figure out how to get it back to San Jose, which created even more stress and disruption to our business. We dropped it off in the morning and heard nothing all day. The next morning, we had to follow up ourselves, only to be told they were still running diagnostics. We were then told there was now another issue that would cost even more to repair. If the original diagnosis was incorrect, I expected the shop to take some responsibility and offer a reasonable solution. Instead, the resolution offered was a "free" diagnostic--which is essentially already credited toward service anyway. There was no real effort to make things right, no empathy for the situation, and no meaningful resolution. We were basically told we could come pick up the van. Business owner to business owner: this is not how you take care of customers. When a customer spends over $1,200 based on your diagnosis and their vehicle breaks down immediately afterward, leaving them with a dangerous, non-operational work vehicle, you should be doing everything possible to make it right. This entire experience has been incredibly STRESSFUL. STRESS FREE AUTO CARE?! Yeah, right. Take your business elsewhere. read more

My brother has been their customer for years so brought my new-to-me used vehicle for a diagnostic check. It's an 11 year old low mileage vehicle with a long crank delayed engine turnover. I told them i suspect either a starter, alternator or a fuel pump issue. Anyhow, they conducted a full inspection and not only root caused the issue but also discovered three other things which the Cdjr dealer did not find in their inspection. I scored a 50% off special on the diagnostic test which was the cherry on top. -1 star for the estimate because in my opinion its steep. Again this may be fair pricing but I do not have enough context or data to say that. I recently moved to the city and was looking for a new auto shop to take care of my car needs. I called in to make an appointment for an oil change and because it was my first visit, they offered a full car inspection. The oil change for my 2018 Corolla was $90. They topped off my windshield wiper and coolant for free. From the inspection, I needed to change my battery due to corrosion and a brake fluid replacement. Before confirming y next appointment, I received an estimate of $500-$600 when I confirmed my appointment. After my car was completed, my total was $720, even with a promotional discount of $50 for having a service over $250. I was so frustrated because of how much more my total was compared to my estimate. Estimates for standard things like a battery change or brake fluid change, in my experience, is usually close to accurate. After reviewing all of the products I received, I definitely overpaid by a lot... The staff was friendly when I was receiving help and a good thing is that they send you a link to a security camera so you can actually see your car being worked on actively. read more

"Stress Free" Auto Care? Unfortunately, this experience was anything but stress-free--and at times, genuinely frightening. I've owned and operated businesses for years, and I almost never write negative reviews. In fact, this is the first one I've ever written. I believe in giving businesses the benefit of the doubt because mistakes happen. What concerns me here is not simply that something went wrong, but the seriousness of what happened and how it was handled afterward. To be fair, the people we dealt with were very nice and courteous. I have no issue with how they treated us personally. But being nice, unfortunately, doesn't make up for a repair that didn't resolve the problem--especially when the consequences were this serious. I paid over $1,200 on 8/7 for repairs based on their diagnosis. The diagnosis was a misdiagnosis. The very same day I picked up the van, it broke down. We ultimately broke down more than 10 times, many of those incidents happening on the freeway while traveling around 60 mph. At one point, I had to use my truck as a guide vehicle to help protect the disabled van because we were stopped in active freeway traffic. I was genuinely terrified that another vehicle would not see us in time and could slam into us, potentially causing serious injury or even loss of life. As a business owner and simply as a person, that is an experience I never want to go through again. Eventually, we had to leave the van at a job site for the entire weekend because it would work for a short period and then fail again. The impact on our business was significant--delayed jobs, lost time, disruption to our customers, and a tremendous amount of stress. Now, after spending over $1,200 based on the original diagnosis, we are being told that a new diagnostic has identified additional problems requiring thousands of dollars more in repairs. What is especially concerning is that these issues were not identified in the original diagnosis. I completely understand that vehicles can have complicated problems and that sometimes additional issues are discovered. What I struggle with is paying for a professional diagnosis and repairs, having the vehicle fail immediately afterward, and then being asked to spend thousands more to address problems that apparently weren't identified the first time. When we asked for a reasonable resolution, we were told we would not be charged for the new diagnostic. While that sounds helpful, the diagnostic fee is normally applied toward service anyway, so it doesn't really address the underlying issue. It leaves us having already spent over $1,200, still without a properly operating vehicle, and potentially facing thousands more in costs. That is not what I would consider a reasonable resolution. I genuinely hope the company looks closely at what happened here. I'm not looking for anyone to be rude or defensive. I'm looking for accountability, compassion, and a fair resolution when a customer has experienced something this serious. For a company called Stress Free Auto Care, this experience has been anything but stress-free. I don't write bad reviews. But when a misdiagnosis is followed by a vehicle repeatedly shutting down on the freeway and putting people's safety at risk, I feel a responsibility to share my experience. StressFUL & disappointed. I've tried to look past this and held back from writing a review but it has bothered me a lot and is worth pointing out to others considering this place. My first visit was great - I came in with vibration issues on my Tesla M3 that occur mostly during freeway driving. There seemed to be a manager-type figure there who was helpful and suggested I balance my wheels first rather than paying for a diagnostic. I decided to balance my wheels & also pay for an alignment while I was there. I was told that the mechanic took my car for a drive to test/check that everything was good & assured that the vibration issue was fixed. Overall, not bad experience and at that point in time, this place was a 5/5 for me. Unfortunately, immediately that same day...when I drove on the freeway, the same issue persisted. My car was vibrating (and honestly, even worse than it did the first time). I immediately drove back to the shop the next day and spoke to someone at the front desk. The person I spoke to blamed my vibrating issue on my driving speed, stating that wheels can only be BALANCED to a specific "speed limit" in CA. He took it one step further to say that I can go ahead and go somewhere else and they'll give me the same answer. I got 0 resolution, 0 help, and quite honestly - something about his response seemed to not make sense to me. I don't recall there being a SPEED LIMIT when balancing wheels? Well, I decided to go ahead and try somewhere else considering how I got no help from Stress Free. I went to a different shop and was shown in person & via video how terribly balanced my wheels were. I've attached video proof of my wheels being completely out of balance (AFTER Stress Free). When I explained to the shop owner about the "speed limit" explained to me, he laughed and said that was BS. And lo & behold - when he balanced my wheels PROPERLY, I can drive faster than "speed limit" without any vibration. I can't believe I had to pay to balance my wheels TWICE simply because Stress Free did a terrible job & gave me a terrible excuse. If they can't even balance wheels correctly nor even TRY to help resolve an issue that THEY claimed they had already fixed...then they have lost my trust. read more

I did maintenance there three weeks ago, after I paid and drove home, stress free called and told me while rotating tires they broke a tire cap. They said they will order it for me and call me the next week. I waited for a week but they never called. I called them and was told they did not order it but will order and made appointment for me to go today to fix it. I went this morning and they said they don't know if anyone ordered it. They cannot find it in store. They cannot order it for me now because there is a chance maybe someone ordered it. They ask me to leave and go home wait. I called in the afternoon they said it is too complicate to figure out. They said maybe tomorrow someone will order it for me. I guess I need to pray that someone in the store has a common sense that no matter how big chaos there store is in, I paid over a thousand dollars for my maintenance and I did not do anything wrong and I have been super patient. I am a customer, they owe me the cap and should either fix it for me or pay me so I can have it fixed somewhere else, instead of trying to get away from it by delaying it or lying to me. They show you with pictures, so you can actually see what they are talking about. I was completely out of antifreeze, somehow my car wasn't overheating. They topped me off and suggested that I should get a flush sometime soon. They weren't pushy and didn't try to get me back to get the services done there, just genuinely cared about me, and my satisfaction. Called in last minute for a nail in my tire and making the appointment was quick and easy. The person on the phone told me the repair was $60 with the ability to price match. The person that checked me in, Bella, told me what will be done to the car and told me that the repair was $40 anIt was about an hour wait. Unfortunately for me, the nail hit the side wall and was unrepairable. The manager, Tae, told me my options on what can be done to the tire but most importantly, told me since no service was done, my visit was free of charge. After I made my decision, he finished the paperwork, emailed it to me, and I was on my way. I've been to Stress Free on Stevens Creek before and had a better experience with staff there. But this one was ok. I appreciate the live stream of the shop. The company provides an Uber/Lyft credit which I didn't need this time, but it's a nice option to have. I took my Mazda 3 in for a service, brake fluid flush, and an alignment cause I figured those things would be cheaper than the dealership; they weren't. An oil change first of all was $125, brake flush $300, alignment $180. Their upselling is also pretty excessive. They quoted an additional $600+ for a battery, cabin filter, and engine filter replacement which felt criminal. You can do all those at home for a less than half the price and 20 minutes max. I also just replaced my cabin filter 5 months ago. I checked the livestream a few hours after dropping off and noticed my car wasn't there anymore, and figured they'd call me soon since I declined the extra service. Almost 2 hours went by and I hadn't heard anything, so I sent a text and suddenly it was ready for pickup. Last, I don't know if it's because I'm a girl but I felt a little dismissed at the front desk. In addition to the service, I was curious about the cost to drain and refill my wiper fluid. The wiper fluid light has been on for a month, and I knew it was from filling it with Rain-X (it's hydrophobic and makes the sensor think the reservoir is empty). I was told that Rain-X is not the problem and that my car is notorious for faulty sensors and I probably needed a new one. I'm clearly not a mechanic but I know the light came on immediately after filling the reservoir with Rain-X, and multiple forums online say that the product causes this exact issue. I just said nevermind because I knew it would've been expensive and didn't want to worry about the quality of work. Definitely better than getting your car worked on by Jiffy Lube or something but, for the price, I'd rather just have peace of mind with Mazda performing routine service. read more
