The best car rental experience in 69 years!!! Could not have been better. Amir is super accommodating and will do whatever is necessary to make your car rental experience PERFECT! The car was not brand new - but I knew that going in. I just wanted solid local transportation and I got exactly that. In fact, the Hyundai Elantra drove SO much better than the last two Tesla Model X loaners that I got from the dealership. It was a blast to drive, and very clean. Amir volunteered to pick me up at the Tesla dealership to start the rental and he dropped me back off there at its conclusion, after my car repair was done. Communication with Amir was simple via text messaging. He always responded immediately. I will always rent from Amir and CMW Car rental when my Tesla needs work at the dealership, and every time I need an in-town rental for visiting family and friends. My short-term, month to month rental for 7 months was a very positive experience. I contracted with Amir a special rate for a minimum 6 month rental period. Throughout the negotiations and rental period, all communication was above board and credible. Customer service was as good as you could expect. Amir actually went above and beyond to drive to downtown and open the locked car in which I had left the keys inside. Sure the cars are not late model cars, they they are all reliable safe vehicles. After two months with one car, there began developing an electrical issue. Amir swapped cars immediately. Then, when a larger vehicle became available, he offered that to me. Excellent service! Great value! I highly recommend CMW car rentals. I was tired of the long lines, crappy service and high prices of the name brand rentals at SD Airport. I took a chance on a one month rental with Amir. He had an Uber pick me up and take me to his company. There was no line and I got to look at a couple of cars. The car was much older than a regular rental (Amir had informed me in advance) but it was clean and drove great - and I paid, like seriously, less than half the price. Covid struck - and my dd and I stayed for 16 months. Amir extended the rental at the same rate and provided excellent service with oil changes or anything else that was needed. BEWARE! The owner Amir only buys cheap salvage cars and high mileage cars beginning at 250k, pays a guy to fix the minimum on them and does the detailing himself. During the time I rented from him I was told that many of his customers had been in accidents. When I got in an accident due to driving one of his salvage cars with over 198k, I understood why. I didn't know while I rented it that it had been in an accident and was salvage. I only found out when I decided to buy it in order to reduce my monthly expense. read more

I have a 1972 buick I needed to get a lift done so I had to get a rental car because it takes a few days to get it done. However not only did amir give me a rental but he found someone to do my lift for a good price to good to pass on. Then the guys that did the job ended up taking 3 1/2 weeks because of (part problems and ordering parts) little frustrating I may add but no fault of Amir. Not only did Amir let me use a rental car the whole time but he gave me a discount just because it took them so long and he said he wouldn't let me pay more even when I tryed!! I like to support local businesses and when i visit san diego i rent from this hidden gem of a spot. They dont have newest cars but they are reliable and the service is great. Best part is i dont have to call anytime i need something or have a question i can just text which makes it real convenient. Especially since they answer after hours too. $32 flat daily rental. There is also a $22 option, but it wasn't available that day and I'm pretty sure it's a shitty car. No extra fees or taxes. However, they charge you if you go over their 100 mile limit. They didn't tell us. The car was a Hyundai Sonata and not too bad. The check engine light did turn on and were worried about liability if anything were to happen. I discovered CMW because I live in the neighborhood. I recently needed a rental car b/c my car was in an accident and I didn't have rental coverage. I was looking for the cheapest option and something convenient. This place was great. Simple, easy, no fuss. They charge a flat $22 per day fee (which includes all taxes, everything). You need to put down a $300 refundable deposit. They don't try to sell you insurance and require that you have your own. The cars were a little older, but clean and ran well. They let you pick from whatever is there. They even let me keep it an extra day by just calling in. No biggie! The only complaints I would have is that the car was pretty much on empty (but they let me bring it back that way), and I did smell a hit of smoke, but I'm pretty sensitive to that. All in all, for the price and how easy it was to rent, I would recommend this when you want to save a little dough and not deal with the harassing Enterprise guy trying to push you into insurance. read more

Amazing deal! We came out to San Diego for two months, JAN-MAR 2012 and rented a car from CMW for the entire period. The car was in great shape, a Ford 500 that was a few years old but in perfect mechanical condition, a few parking lot dings was the extent of the aesthetic damage. Cherie at CMW is professional and very sweet. If you need an extended rental, get it from Cherie at CMW. You'll save hundreds of dollars. Rented Hyundai from this company. One headlight was out. Center rear brake light was out. Key often did not turn to start car. Driver seat belt frequently would not lock. Most importantly the right front brake locked twice, causing the car to refuse to turn. This nearly caused an accident both times it happened. The breaks were terrible. I think I felt safer in my own car, which had a fuel leak. read more
