I don't recommend this business. I suspect that many of the positive reviews may not be genuine. I suggest using Renty instead -- their rates are lower, and their cars are in excellent condition. The car I rented here was in poor condition. The owner increased the monthly payment from $600 to $650, then agreed on $625, which I found unprofessional. My deposit was also withheld, even though I was told there would be no additional charges. Given the amount I paid over time, I could have purchased a similar vehicle. I've rented cars at other places and have never had a company keep my deposit before. Overall, my experience felt unfair and untrustworthy. The owner' came across as extremely greedy. read more

It was nice that they still had a few cars available whenever the other economy rental location was sold out. The owners and staff are a family and take good care of their customers. I tested out several vehicles. Some were fine, others had some small problems (one horn didn't work, and one had doors that had difficulty staying open) but if you are patient, you will find something that works for your needs. Had the same experience as the previous customer. Left messages but they never called back. When I was finally able to speak to someone named Jimmy, he goes on to argue with me that what is advertised on their website is not what they offer. The Website clearly states that the rental price of their cars include insurance and this turns out not to be the case. If you're purchasing the insurance the price is almost double what is quoted on the site. Big difference! And classic case of false advertisement. Here is an excerpt taken directly from their website: "The rental rates for our cars are listed below, and, unlike most San Diego rental agencies, they already include the price of insurance." I rented a car here and purchased insurance. My rental car was damaged while it was parked. The owner Aamir made me pay his insurance deductible and told me he would repay me once the insurance covered it. It has been over a year. He will not return my phone calls he will not answer my letters. His cars are barely operable. If you are looking for a cheap car rental I would recommend dirt cheap car rental and not this place. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS SCAMMER!! I reserved a car in July to go visit a friend in Palmdale for his birthday and boy was I in for a run. First off, let's start with the reservation process. I call the location and ask to place a reservation and the guy was nice and said sure, asked me for what day and time. Didn't ask for my name, or my number or any type of information (that threw me off). So I arrive at the location, mind you it took me forever to find it because although it's on a Main Street it's definitely hidden. So I get to the place which is sketch from the get go because the door is on the side and doesn't even look like an entrance to a business. So I get to the place and begin the process. He gets the paper work and the keys blah blah...charges my card and it wasn't until after he charged my card that he thought it was necessary to tell me that it's only a 100 miles per day and every mile after that will cost me .25 cents, now had I been staying local that would of been fine BUT HE KNEW where I was heading to!! Which is 170 miles away a total of 340 miles round trip (that's not including the driving I'd be doing once I got there) so at that point I'm a bit ticked off but I was willing to pay the extra .25cents PER mile to see my friend for his birthday. (I believe he reduced that price to .15 cents for my rental) So the paper work is finished up and he shows me the way to the vehicle which he explained to me was a KIA (cool). We walk outside and I see his assistant (other worker there) taking pictures of an OLD ASS BUCKET of a vehicle which, in my head Im thinking...no this can't be the car (oh mind you there's was a $350 deposit) so I'm wondering like...did I just pay $50 for this bucket?! Anyways, I get over how old the car is and I told myself it was okay, and that its just a car to get me from point A to point B. I get in the car and try to press the window button to roll the window down but NO...I had to actually ROLL the window down with my hand, it wasn't automatic. (That's just to explain how old the vehicle was) I get in the car and start driving... ...this is where it turned BAD. I'm driving and I notice the brake light is on! As I'm driving home, for the first couple blocks the car was running fine and the brakes were working okay. I drive down another block and as I'm approaching a red light the car WOULDN'T STOP!! I freaked out. I call him right away tell him what was going on and in a VERY CASUAL tone he goes "the break isn't working? oh okay well come back" and I'm like how the hell do you want me to drive back to your shop when the brakes aren't working?! Luckily I wasn't very far but...as I'm driving back to the rental location I tried my best to drive extremely slow with the hazard lights on but that didn't help much. I approach another red light and I nearly crashed into the car in front of me but I turned and drove over the embankment that divides the two streets. I get to his shop and he showed NO REMORSE! Didn't say sorry, didn't seem surprised. I told him I needed a full refund and so he gave that to me and the deposit back BUT it took about a week and a half to go back into my account. All in all this is absolutely the worst experience I've ever had renting a car. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Do not rent from this rent center. I've heard good things about this place, it's close to where I live, and their website convinced me to give them a chance. So Monday last week I tried to contact them via their website, no response. I tried again wednesday, still no response. Started to wonder if they even existed, so I stopped by Friday, and was told they had no available cars at the time, but I should call Monday morning, and he'd know more. I called Monday - 9 times! - nobody picked up until in the afternoon, where I was asked to call Tuesday morning. I called Tuesday morning - 6 times! - nobody ever picked up! Same thing happen when I came to return the car. There is a person called Jimmy who handle our Car insurance and rental but does not have any knowledge of it. This is the perfect rental company for long term car rentals. The prices are the cheapest I could find in the southern California area. I had been renting with these guys for almost 6 months and my experience was really good. I used 2 different cars during that period and both were in really great condition throughout. No mechanical failures or any problems even though both cars were quite old. The owner Amir keeps them in very good condition. My only complaint is that it's really hard to get hold of him as he's not always in his office. The guys he used at the front desk aren't much help when you need info (I don't think he pays them that much so they couldn't care less). Julian is outstanding. I've rented 3 times this month and have had very easy transactions. Found myself without a vehicle suddenly and was happy to realize that they were within walking distance of my location. Some of the cars have some visible/cosmetic 'scars' but it's a rental car so that's expected some times, however the vehicles have run ok and I haven't had any issues. Rented from this company for 2.5 years and life was great... until very recently when for whatever reason, they did a 180 and turned evil on me. whatever changed the management/owner did so in a very bad way. tried to hold me hostage by demanding rediculous increases in payments (2x more) and fees for completely false circumstances. Hands down the worst car rental establishment I've ever attempted to do business with. I reserved a van from them and put a deposit of over $400 one and a half weeks prior to when I needed the rental. Then the day I showed up to pick up the van, they told me they wouldn't rent the van to me. I asked for an explanation and the guy said his manager didn't want to rent out the van because the "numbers weren't right." He also stated that he didn't have any authority because he was only a porter and a car washer and that there is no management on duty on the weekend. Wow. What a joke! Then they took a month to credit back my account after I had to dispute it with my credit card company. Then once they did credit back my account they called my friend (that was gonna be just a co-driver) that had nothing to do with the billing and left him a voice mail and not me! They also emailed him a copy of the receipt of the charge back..Again to the wrong person! I should have realized when I showed up to this place it was in the middle of a ghetto and it looked like a shady place. That's what I get for trying to save a few bucks! Lesson learned. read more

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE OTHER MAJOR CAR RENTAL COMPANIES ... for making doing business with them such a pain in the "S" -- that I had to shop around and discover Sensible Car Rental, where I rented, with no hassle, for LESS THAN HALF of what the others were charging! I saved well over $100! The car was a good-looking, dependable, intermediate-size Kia, for $129.99 flat (tax included) for the week, with 700 free miles. For properly licensed and insured drivers, it's fast and simple -- I was out the door, with the keys to my rental, in about 15 minutes. You don't need a credit card and all sorts of stuff that the others require. At Sensible, there's a deposit, of course, but if you want to use your debit (ATM) card, that's fine. When comparing rates in San Diego, it's important not to fall for the "plus tax" scam. Like, if at the airport, a company quotes, "$248 plus tax"; Well, surprise! The airport "tax" is over $70. So that rental would actually cost you $318.87 for the week!! What a racket! With Sensible, they're not at the airport, so you don't pay that exorbitant "tax". You'll have to pick up the car near 70th & I-8; but to my way of thinking, that's OK -- that's what Ubers are for, and I'd rather pay a little to a hard-working Uber driver, than a lot to some asinine overfed fat cat at the other major rental companies who are a pain in the "S" to deal with, anyway (did someone say "Enterprise"?) As to those other rental companies that charge you through the ying-yang to rent their pieces of manure, and act like they're doing you a big favor by taking a lot of your money for it (if you qualify), I'd invite them to take their overpriced cars, put all of their paperwork and renter requirement hassles and add-ons in the glove boxes, line them all up down the block, and then bend over and have someone drive them all up their fat, hairy, "S"s. For me, the solution is fast and easy: when I'm in San Diego, I'll just rent from Sensible, where they give great customer-oriented service, and really want your business.
