I went here for lunch with a group from work. We were the only people there! This place is pretty new so maybe it hasn't caught on yet. We ordered the kimchi dumplings, summer rolls and crispy tuna for apps. All of them were really great. For my main I ordered the salmon poke bowl. The mayo type sauce they mix the salmon into could definitely be improved and the amount of salmon left me wanting.. but overall it was ok. I came tonight to CO for the first time. In my head, I was ready to compare to Shiki or Sushi at the Park (my fav). The place is clean and has some cool artwork on the walls. I sat at the bar. The guy was nice, though I wish he stated his name so I could acknowledge him here. The rest of the staff seemed a little boring. No one really smiling- but again, my bartender was super nice and answered my questions. The manager moved his computer from next to me- could have at least said hi, but didn't acknowledge I was even there. I was a little frustrated (without saying so) because the online menu is not the same as what they have for happy hour. That's an easy fix. My food was fresh and I will be back because it was flavorful- but these are really easy wins. If people were kind and with a sense of urgency I'd give 5/5. The food was so delicious the first time we went (during off-hours, so maybe that explains it) and we were so excited to return. My husband and I went for a date night, partly in celebration of my new job. However, this time, we sat down and waited for someone to come by, say hello, take drink orders, anything. We watched as other tables that were filled after ours were immediately seen to. We tried to make ourselves look "ready" and tried to catch the eyes of any wait staff. Finally, after about 20 minutes, we were able to catch the attention of a server--one who wasn't even assigned to our section, but ended up taking over our table, so we made sure to express our appreciation of her. But then it wasn't just poor service--it was also the kitchen. We managed to order a "happy hour" deal just before the cutoff, since we'd waited so long, but when they brought out the pork belly buns, it was missing...the pork belly. When we pointed it out (again, with all respect), our server brought out a replacement, but the pork belly was really tough. Our main dishes were both very good, as were the cocktails. But overall it was still a stressful and disappointing experience. Even after they'd goofed twice, no manager came by to check in or offer an apology, we weren't comped for the appetizer (after having to get a replacement, which then didn't come until after the meal had been served), and no gesture was made whatsoever to assure us that we were valued as customers. We still gave our new server a very good tip, but we just felt like the whole thing wasn't worth the money. I hope that this is just demonstrative of some early stumbles as a new restaurant, and that they soon figure it out. But as a former server, I can't imagine not making your customers your top priority--and I don't understand why it was our table in particularly that was treated extra poorly. read more

Service was not so good at this restaurant--first server used a pen and paper and couldn't pronounce anything, including common beverages--the other/real? server used a device but didn't check on us more than once. Took about an hour to get our food (just one item per person), when the restaurant was about 2/3 full. Food was decent but not outstanding or anything compared to much friendlier local restaurants. Will not come back. Also the music is just constant throbbing bass notes. Must be torture for the staff. They should invent a negative scoring system for restaurants like this, which offer terrible service and bad food. My son took us to this so-called Asian fusion restaurant for my wife's birthday, and it was the worst experience. The waiter stayed at the end of the table, shouting and asking for my order rather than walking around and quietly and patiently getting the order. He comes back and brings the alcoholic drinks, but instead of going to each person who ordered the drinks, he passes them from the top of the table to young children to pass them forward. We ordered some crispy edamame spring rolls, and the manager/owner brought them with rotten garnishing lettuce and some other vegetables. It was disgusting, but who could we complain to when the manager/owner saw what he was serving? The green papaya salad had everything except papaya. My dish was supposed to be hibachi shrimp. It was an ugly presentation, as a new assistant cook had done it. It tasted like the main ingredient was salt. The shrimp were tiny and over-down soaked in salt. Co had great food and decent ambience. unfortunately the restaurant was severely understaffed. I asked all 3 staff people I encountered if they would change the channel from hs football to the WNBA. They all said they would and never did in the 2 hours we spent there. Additionally, the bathrooms did not have toilet paper or paper towels. Everything is good, but not great. It's a menu and cooking that doesn't have any soul. It's like they went around and put together a greatest hits album of different Asian cuisines. In one sense it's cool that they have so many options, but nothing we got was the best of its kind. There are better sushi places. There are better thai places. I stopped at the CO sushi spot for lunch, approximately 2 months ago. I ordered the hibachi deluxe steak and mushroom for takeout. When I got home and ate it, it was flavorful and the steak was tender. Fast forward, so I decided to take my mom there for dinner this past weekend, based on my initial experience. The first red flag, was that we had to ask the waitress to wipe off the table after being seated. There wasn't that many people in there on a Saturday early evening, but I wasn't worried, because I knew the food was going to be good. My mom and I ordered infused sake, she got the lemongrass lyche and I got the pineapple. Hers was actually good, but my sake tasted like pineapple water. We then ordered the California roll as an appetizer, and are entrees. I stuck with the hibachi deluxe with steak and mushroom, and my mom got and she got the deluxe com churn without the egg. I thought the appetizer would come first and then the entree, but they brought out the entree first, followed by the appetizer. The waiter also brought out soy sauce, a ginger sauce with a house made hibachi sauce, and he didn't know what meal came with the sauces. The California roll was mediocre at best, and my dish; hibachi deluxe with steak and mushrooms was absolutely horrible. The steak was so tough, that it actually hurt my teeth. I was stunned, because when I ordered the same thing awhile back for lunch, the steak was absolutely tender. My mom said her food was ok, but she didn't eat much. I told the waiter that the meat was over cooked and tough, and I couldn't understand why it was so different then from the first time I ordered it. She said they had a new chef, the other one had been fired, and this chef was in the learning phase. She said she would have them cook me some more steak. When she came back with the steak, aI thought they would redo the entire meal, as the rice was cold by this point, but all I got was the steak and mushrooms. I can say with certainty that I won't be going back, and hiring an inexperienced cook, cause he definitely is not a chef, is bad business. Co is a "mall" restaurant, that is in the "streets of southpoint." It is very spacious and with nice and modern decor. Service is friendly. It has a clubby vibe with the music with strong bass, but not overpowering. Food is definitely not very authentic, considering it has Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, etc... but still pretty good. My hubby and I had been wanting to visit Co in Durham after trying the Raleigh restaurant many months ago and enjoying it. However, the reviews were not sounding great, and we were cautious. We decided to try happy hour on a Tuesday (1/2 off sushi). There was no need for worry. We had a fabulous meal. Everything was delicious. Our server, Anya, was phenomenal!!! She knows the menu well and gave us yummy recommendations and explained everything we wondered about... there were a few ingredients we weren't familiar with. The meal ended up being pretty inexpensive even though we ordered almost the entire happy hour menu plus 2 specialty sushi rolls and 2 desserts. So, if you want a deal, it's definitely the time to go. But the food was tasty enough that we would happily pay full price at a different time. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Here's what we ordered and thought specifically... wish I had taken pics but I was too busy eating. Mango Summer Roll - fresh, tasty... had a super yummy peanut sauce that made the dish. Otherwise very light in flavor but refreshing. Garlic Sesame Tuna Taco- good, fresh.... Loved the garlic aioli... you can ask for more if there's not enough on it... definitely makes the dish! Pork Belly Bun- we got 2 - one toasted and one untoasted. We liked the untoasted better... more traditional and so fluffy... but the toasted was a nice change for us... never had it before, so we enjoyed trying it. It was good, just not as good as the soft one that melts in your mouth. Crispy Tuna Nigiri- My favorite dish of the night!!! We almost didn't get it and then Anya described it. Decided we had to try. I could eat 5 of them!!! So unique and flavorful. This is a must try dish!!! The rice sticks to your teeth in the best way! I know it sounds crazy. Trust me!!! Salmon Carpaccio - My second favorite! The sauce is dynamite... citrus, refreshing. I started dipping other things in it. Seriously, I could drink that sauce. Pork and Crab Spring Roll - the flavors are very Vietnamese with a fish sauce dipping sauce. I really liked it... light, crispy, great flavor. Yellow Curry Chicken - Spicy and warm, tender chicken... full of flavor!!! I would order this again and again... but you must like spice. It has a delightful kick. Tuna Tataki- My least favorite dish but still good. Very fresh with a small salad. It's pretty mild. I would ask for more sauce/dressing... or better yet... get that salmon carpaccio sauce!! Next level. Kung Fu Crunch Roll - Super fresh and interesting. Tons going on but in a good way. Sunset Crab - This is a fried roll... super decadent but I loved it. Crispy Cheesecake Wontons - Fried dough with filling, chocolate and cream sauce... duh... what's not to like. Beautiful presentation. Done very well! Yuzu Cheesecake - Bright, citrus, decadent and refreshing at the same time. Very delicious. Unique flavor... worth saving room for. We also ordered 1 cocktail and 2 sakes - Dark N Peach.... The food here was awesome. My wife and I both got Bahn Mi's, the lemongrass tofu and Korean short rib. The flavors are incredible and the bread was a lot better than many other versions I've had. It was a bit softer and thinner that made the flavors of the other ingredients show much better. The location is awesome in the Streets part of Southpoint and decor is pretty nice. They have outdoor seating options, bar seating, booth style high tops and larger tables for families and bigger groups. We went on Presidents Day and it seems like they weren't staffed for the unexpected rush of customers. Cesar was a one man show in the front room. He was the Host, Waiter, and runner. And I mean he was running for 90 minutes straight while being incredibly efficient. I hope no other customers shorted him on his tips because it honestly was the fastest I've ever seen anyone work non-stop in the service industry. Service was not great the food took over an hour to get to the table. I would understand if it was busy but a majority of the restaurant was empty. Also, if you pay by card the machine they use has tipping options of only 20,25, and 30%. I'd be inclined to tip if the services was actually worth it but it was not. I ordered a cucumber mojito and an extra shot. The extra shot was for my partner, as they drink shots instead of cocktails. The bartender came over and said, so who ordered the drink, I replied I did. He's like yea I can't give you more then three ounces(which is understandable ) and if you ordering a shot for them I need to see them drinking it. All while he pulled a seat up and sat down and said all this while flailing his arms around, then commence to tellling me , yea it's the law I need to do what I have to do.. are you going to sit there the whole time watching us take the drink and shot??? the interaction was unnecessary and uncomfortable. I asked to speak to the manager, and you know what I was told the bartender said, we refused to show our I.d. That's why he "did" that. My server confirmed I wasn't confrontational and indeed showed my id upon request (my partner and I am in our late 30's). Will I be back, yes, but if he's at the bar I would never order drinks.
