Birthday dinner was great, the food tasted too good to be true! The service was pretty good too aside from the fact that we had to wait over 5 mins even though we had reserved a table, but it's ok things happen. The vibe is classy and convivial with the lights being a bit dim. The decor is beautiful and different from most. I'd definitely return(:

My husband and I decided to come here for a late Father's Day dinner, cause we enjoy sneaking away by ourselves! We were seated and greeted very nicely. The waiter recommended the ceviche the special for the day. It had ahi and shrimp with lots of other ingredients , and it was placed on top of a corn tortilla. Was enough for 2 to share. I ordered the lobster enchiladas and they were so good. My husband ordered Steak Picado, was served with fresh home made tortillas. We like to share our entree s so we get to sample both. This resturant was amazing, and even better happy hour drinks are 7 dollars! A must try!!

From the moment we arrived, our evening at Coa de Jima was defined by top-tier hospitality and a vibrant, professional atmosphere. We were greeted by Olivia, whose warm and constant smile set a wonderful tone for the night. Our primary server, Daniel, was truly outstanding--attentive, frequently checking in to ensure we were well-cared for, and radiating a positive energy that elevated the entire experience. We also appreciated the friendly service from Nolan, who made us feel right at home. Artful Cocktails We began our journey with the cocktail program, which is as creative as it is delicious! Winnie the Pooh: This drink was a standout. Featuring Código "Coa Edition" Blanco, Génépy, and chamomile, it was beautifully presented with a honey stick. The wildflower honey added a perfect touch of sweetness. Peach Basil Smash: A refreshing blend of Old Forester Bourbon, elderflower, and ginger beer. We absolutely loved this choice--it was balanced, bright, and incredibly easy to enjoy. Smokey The Pear: While technically well-crafted with Mezcal and a dramatic smoke bubble, the heavy smoky profile was a bit intense for our personal palates, though it certainly made for a great presentation. Culinary Highlights The food was nothing short of spectacular, starting with the Duck Carnitas Quesadilla. The duck confit was tender and rich, perfectly complemented by their signature cheese blend and a flavorful pasilla sauce. We finished every single bite! For the main course, we shared La Tablita (For Two), an impressive spread that featured: Maine Lobster Tail & Grilled Prawns: The lobster was incredible, especially when paired with the amazing butter sauce. 8oz Coulotte & Grilled Chicken: The steak was cooked exactly to our specifications, and the chicken remained remarkably juicy and flavorful. The Sides: Everything from the creamy black beans and ancho rice to the "melt in your mouth" tortillas and fresh guacamole came together wonderfully. Coa de Jima successfully pairs an upscale, moody aesthetic with deeply authentic Latin flavors. Between the stellar service from Daniel and the team and the high-quality ingredients, it was a memorable night out. We cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone seeking a premier dining experience in downtown Boise.

We met friends at Coa de Jima for brunch and from the moment we walked in, it felt like falling in love in low light- the dark, edgy interior with its dramatic twists and bold flair sets a sultry tone. I ordered the birria tacos- rich, juicy, and unapologetically indulgent. My friends happily surrendered to the bottomless mimosas, which kept the table sparkling. The portions were generous, and every plate arrived vibrant, fresh, and layered with flavor. Even with the restaurant buzzing and packed, our server was attentive and graceful, making the entire experience feel effortless and electric.

Awesome experience, visiting from out of town and walked by this place and went in for happy hour. Sat at the bar. Bar staff was great, tentative and nice! Their street tacos were amazing! Everything tasted so flavorful and delicious and their drinks did not disappoint!

First of all the ambience is amazing. What a dark and mysterious restaurant with spectacular decor... Very moody and sexy. The restaurant was busy and we didn't have reservations but we were able to get two spots at the bar. The bar staff was friendly and engaging.. and they eventually helped us get a table for dinner. My friend and I shared coconut shrimp appetizer then she had the fish tacos and I had scallops. Love the incredibly crunchy shrimp especially the sweet and spicy sauce that they poured over the top of it ....only Mildly spicy. Which I thought was perfect. The fish tacos were generous in portion and crunch level. Which I had never had in a taco before but I enjoyed immensely. My scallop dish was rich and filled with peppers and corn and cream and was truly decadent.

Coa de Jima is a fantastic spot with amazing flavors. The escquite/corn is absolutely yummy!! (it's a must-order)Their ceviche is fresh, bright, and balanced, with just the right amount of citrus and spice. And the queso? Creamy, rich, and especially paired with their chips. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, and the flavors really shine. Definitely a place worth coming back to.

A part of the Barbacoa restaurant group, Coa De Jima is certainly a great spot for a night out. The decor and overall feel of the restaurant and bar is 10 out of 10 knockout. From the built-in tree decor, they have lining the bar to the intimate booths that you sit at the attention to detail is out of this world and the Mexican touches make it feel authentic, yet sort of campy in a good way. The cocktails as per usual, we're incredible. The Winnie the Pooh was such a good drink. A little honeycomb stir on top of it is an amazing detail. We also tried the hibiscus sour and the old-fashioned, which were both good. The traditional Molcajete is a surf and turf type entrée that they Lambay at the table, which is always so fun. And the steak Picado was cooked to perfection. This bar gets busy so the cocktails can come out a little bit slower than some other places, but you can expect that on a packed night. I also wish they served tacos during their dinner service that is an item that they only serve during the happy hour from 4 PM to 6 PM. I just can't give five stars when they don't serve tacos all night at a Mexican themed bar. Since this is part of the group that is behind Barbacoa, you can expect to see some pretty high menu prices entrées ranging from $45-$65 but the appetizers are a really good price, and the drinks I would say our averaging $13-$16. Definitely a more upscale place perfect for a date night bachelorette party a birthday celebration graduation! Definitely check it out. I will be going here again and I really enjoy their cocktails which I know I already said, but truly, you've gotta try them.

Awesome decor and vibe. Service is top-notch. Guacamole and chips app was good. Corn app, not so much. Pass. Lobster tails were delicious. Steaks were also good. Rice is flavored very uniquely, but good. Enchiladas were full of chicken and flavorful. Portions are good sized.

This is the mini version of barbacoa in a way. It's not too big of a place but the decor is beautiful you definitely get a nice vibe from this place the bathroom door tricks everyone. The drinks are absolutely amazing I really enjoyed every drink I had. The mesquite was actually really good. I had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection so juicy not dry and the rice was good the sweet potato was absolutely good. Our server was just perfect. He was attentive, nice patient and overall we enjoyed the experience

I walked in, not sure what to get. The bartender asked me what flavors I like. She went away and made me this epic cocktail. She told me all the things she added, and it was clear, these bartenders are the real deal. They know their stuff. I drank my delightful cocktail way too fast. But it was so damn good. The vibe is fun. They bartenders interact with everyone and do all kinds of cool things with cool ingredients and tell you about it all. Perfect spot for a loungey date night, or a meet up with a friend. There is no food. But plenty of spots on 8th in walking distance. This is probably one of the best cocktail bars I've ever been to. ... and I've been to a lot. :)

A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The service was superb!

I've been to several speakeasies around the USA and Gatsby should be the standard of what a…read morespeakeasy should be. No really! Imagine yourself walking through the 8th St promenade in downtown Boise. It's hustling and bustling with people and restaurants that are packed. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see an alley. It's kinda dark, maybe a little unsettling at first. You see a steel door with a small panel at the top of the door. No door handles but a green lit old stagecoach light, a small wooden sign hanging g just beyond the door with a key on it. Hmmm, strange. In faded sharpie letters it says Knock knock on the metal door, so you knock twice. The panel on the door slides open and they ask for the password. Whoa!!!! Luckily you called ahead to make reservations so they whispered it to you. You give the password and door opens to a tiny little library with a couple of shelves full of books. The hosts welcomes you and you stare at the bookshelf knowing it isn't just a bookshelf but a door. You try pulling on different books guessing which is the right one but after a minute the hostess shows you and you enter a beautiful brick walled 1920s decorated room with seats and dim lights and no windows whatsoever. The artwork is prohibition-era themed. Heck, there's even a stack of wooden barrels that supposedly hold spirits. That is exactly the speakeasy experience you are looking for. We were seated in the boiler room, a private area which had beautiful wooden lockers with glass doors all lit up and full of booze. Books line the wall and there is an old fireplace covered with candles that have melted wax all over the mantle. In the corner is a poker table. Really the perfect vibe for a speakeasy. Glance at the menu and notice their tang of cheaper to very rare and unique spirits, some costing hundreds of dollars for a shot. Whisky, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, bourbon, you name it. But also check out their cocktails. They can even make mocktails if you don't want alcohol. Not only are the drinks unique but so is their presentation. The glades used I've never seen. Some drinks have a printed pattern on them, others come with dry ice that quickly evaporates or a cool smoked filled bubble. The whole experience was just amazing. This is a do not miss opportunity if you like drinks and cool, unique experiences. They even have another room in the back called the Garrison Room which looks like a mineshaft. I just love the thought put into this place. And when you are done, you exit through a nondescript door and exits to a patio area of another restaurant and back out to the promenade. Just a wow experience! So glad I did it.
