We've passed by this place numerous times always intending on coming for dinner, well, we finally made it there tonight. I only wish we would have come here a long time ago, but we now have a favorite place. We are so happy that it was bought by people who truly care about the history of this place and the customers, as they have kept it in its original form and haven't changed the menu. It is rare to find people willing to buy a place likes this in order to keep it going. I hope they continue on as it is now and don't change a thing. The ambiance was quiet, and I would describe the decor as elegant Dutton Ranch style The staff were all friendly and the food was amazing! I had the prime rib (finally, a chef that knows what "rare" means and it was absolutley delicious. My husband had the Ribeye steak and it too was impressive and one of the best he's ever had. The sauted mushrooms were terrific and you "HAVE" to have the salad with their homemade Rouqefert dreassing. I haven't seen Rouqefert dressing in years and it is absolutely the best (of course this is the only place we've found that offers it). The drinks were good and especially the Prickly Pear Lemon Drop....so yummy! Even though the food was great, what truly made it a "dining experience" like we've only received a few other times (and we eat out a lot), was Jessica, our waitress. She was so nice and really on top of her game. She was not only attendtive but really paid attention to the smallest of details, e.g., when I dropped my napkin, she was right there with a new one. She is what all wait staff should be, and I think she could a school and train others. We have only had an "EXCELLENT" server a few times in our lives (and we're old), but she is one of the best we have ever had. I have lived in Boise for 30+ years and have never been to The Stagecoach. It's been here for ages, it honestly could be considered a historical sight. A classic that has lasted in our beautiful city for decades. I have wanted to try this joint out for a while. But, every time I had called to ask them a question, I'm was always turned off on how rude they are over the phone. The lady whom I spoke to twice, two separate occasions clearly needs to find another job that makes her happy. After much persuading, my husband convinced me to come here for dinner. The persuading was from me not wanting to come because of the response I got over the phone from the rude employee. It was getting late and we needed to head somewhere for our date night. So, I sucked it up and we headed to the Stagecoach for dinner. We were sat at a table by the host. It was a cool little corner. There were two more tables stacked side by side by us. We all shared a common bench. It's dark, romantic, crowded and hot with an old country vibe to it. It's a lot to absorb but I'm here for it. We were greeted by our server and got a soda started for my husband. For starters we got some shrimp cocktail. I was tempted to order some of their famous bar prawns but the shrimp cocktail won that battle. For dinner I got the ribeye and my husband got the bacon wrapped filet. Erica dropped off some fresh sourdough rolls. These bad boys were warm and fragrant. The golden wrapped pats of butter looked so pretty next to these warm rolls. I knew I was going to head into bread heaven. The outside is crispy, the inside was soft and chewy. These rolls were perfection, especially with a nice pat of butter in it. As much as I tried not to eat the last roll, it was too hard to control myself. Salad was dropped off for my husband. Shrimp cocktail came after. I always appreciate the presentation of an old school bulky glass cup for my shrimp cocktail. It just makes it that much more fun to eat. Ughhhh, the shrimp was so fresh. The cocktail sauce that came with it was made in house. I can tell by the way my sinuses cleared up with the amount of horseradish used to make it. It burned so good! Nothing turns me on more than beautiful grill marks on my ribeye. My ribeye looked beefy! The chef did a masterful job grilling it! I got two sides of veggies as my side. I was quite pleased to get two portions of mushrooms and asparagus. My plate looked fabulous! My husband's filet was beautifully grilled as well. Along side his filet was a cheese filled hearty potato. Yooooooo, my ribeye was grilled to perfection. Even though it was well done, it was so tender and juicy. It wasn't overly seasoned. I manhandled that ribeye. The asparagus had a great bite to it but wasn't undercooked. The mushrooms had a beautiful char on them but were overly salted. I ate them with my asparagus to cut some of the saltiness. They couldn't be eaten by themselves without having to drink water after. Dinner was fabulous tonight. I enjoyed a majority of it and I look forward to finishing it tomorrow. Erica, our server was so kind, attentive and careful. I told her about my restrictions and she was more than happy to make sure I was good. Jose was the chef who cooked my ribeye. He's a very young chef and he has his grill game on point. If he's cooking like this at his young age, I can't imagine what his cooking will be like in the future! Erica and Jose were the saving graces of my date night tonight. I honestly didn't want to come. But Erica and Jose made my experience that much more fantastic! They both came in clutch and I appreciate them so much for it. This totally could have been a 5 star visit, easily. I'm sad that it isn't cause of one person. If you want to dine here, just come in. Don't bother calling. We were very disappointed in lunch today. The staff was good, the dining room and bar were well maintained and comfortable. We engaged other diners in conversation and found that they were long time customers with a number of them expressing their loyalty for decades. The fish and chips was not a good choice. The fish coating needed salt since it was so bland. It is thick, not light and smooth like a tempura coating. The potato things that came with the fish were some unidentified stuff. Both were left mostly uneaten. Both of us tried the dish and remain unimpressed. The Rueben bread was so browned, it was impossible to ascertain if it was marbled rye. It didn't taste like it. The meat was tough. How is a kitchen serving tough corned beef? What quality corned beef would be tough after being boiled? The onion rings had the same thick coating as the fish. Bland. For the elevated prices charged for these meals, we expected superior food, but got inferior instead. Better examples of both dishes are available at Gils K9 bar at a lower price. Former employees of the Stagecoach own and work there. The result is a much better menu for sandwiches and fish dishes. We might have investigated the steaks on the Stagecoach menu at some future but with this fail it won't happen. Apparently, the long term success of the place will depend on the current clientele who were born before 1945 who likes this food. We are out. read more

Jason seated us exactly to the minute he said he would. As a matter of fact with the numbers he was throwing out, the six parties in front of us as well. Parking was no problem. We've been here a few times. ALWAYS great customer service, ambiance and dishes! This past Valentines weekend, day after on Saturday, we were able to sit near the bar area due to how busy it was. We had the prime rib with lobster and a sirloin steak. The loaded potatoes were great too. Steaks cooked perfectly to order. One rare and other medium rare. The waiter was great. Excellent customer service with humor. During our conversation we suggested the dessert store in Star. He later said he's bringing the wife there after she reviewed in line. Had a great experience at the stagecoach Inn! Not only does it have a very fun western vibe, but it also does feel very cozy with the leather boots and decorations. We got to sit in this little horseshoe booth that gives you a great view of the overall restaurant for people watching while also being cozy. We both got the prime rib sandwich, which was delicious, especially with the juice. Both the fries and the tater tots were delicious. It seemed like everybody in the restaurant was having a great time and the service of all of the servers was great. It's not a spot that you usually think about while driving by on Chinden. But it definitely makes me consider stopping by again with how great the food and experience was. read more

Unique nostalgic restaurant with mom-n-pop vibes. Dining experience was focused on great customer service and good simple food. My salad was one of the best house salads I've had and loved the homemade dressing. Steak was so fresh and didn't need to be fluffed with any sauces. The prawns could have had a little more flavor but were okay. Would recommend Stagecoach Inn as you don't get to eat simple good food often anymore with a decent price tag. read more

Did not get a review written when we were there a couple of months ago. Sadly we live to far away now to go here as often as we would like. Our server was amazing food was off the charts and one of my favorite observations was when one of the cooks walked out of there kitchen he had a beard but was wearing a face net. Made me very happy where it's seems beards are the in thing now I see too many kitchen workers not wearing anything to cover there faces. We will definitely go back and eat there again. We've been going to Stagecoach for years but I saw poor reviews trending so I needed to revisit and get the facts. The series of recent 1-star reviews were nothing to do with the quality of the food or service. It was about parking. Huh? Stagecoach was cracked down on parking and will "boot" your car if you aren't a patron. We arrived Saturday at 4:45pm and there was already an hour wait. I asked if we could stay parked in the lot while we bided our time at Split Rail. Two employees confirmed that since we were checked in, we can remain in the lot. They were right. We got a call/text when our table was ready and I was hungry to enjoy my fav--"broasted" chicken. Love! Husband also had his usual, prime rib and shrimp. I didn't like my wine so our fab server swapped it for me without delay. And no dinner is complete at Stagecoach without the special chocolate cream pie with baked coconut on top. Yesss... read more

Been here a couple times and loved it. Just to have HORRIFIC food poisoning for 2 days. Have not been able to eat without being in the bathroom. Watched our server take unused silverware from one table and drop it off to the next as if it has not been at a dirty table. Never going back. DISGUSTING. They also have the most ABHORRENT atmosphere. Sorry are we in the 1800 but meet Temu? Didn't think it was possible to have a garage sale atmosphere but here we are. Also clean your bathrooms. Easy to look over the first time. But after 3 times? YUCK. Obvious they don't care. Reading other reviews. They definitely care more about making money off their parking lot instead of food. Cheap. They served the best steaks and shrimp that I've ever had. The butterfly shrimp were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The steaks were fantastic and the prime rib can't be beat. I had a crab cocktail and I'll go back just for that. The service was impeccable those girls really know what people want and how they like it and serve it just that way. You feel that you're in an old Steakhouse. You can see the cooks cooking your meal you can eat either the or the bar. Nice and cozy with that warm comfortable feel. The Stagecoach is my favorite bar in Boise. I have never left thirsty, hungry or disappointed. The bartenders are usually busy, but will keep your drinks filled. I heard about The Stagecoach Inn from a guest on the Joe Rogan podcast. The guest (MB) had glowing reviews of this place. I've driven by it on numerous occasions and never thought to stop by. Frankly, the building looks every bit of its 60+ years of existence. But don't let the looks fool you. This restaurant has tons of character and I regret judging this book by its delicious cover. There is ample parking in front and around the back. We were promptly seated by the host even though the restaurant was packed. My wife's meal, the Shrimpkin (broasted chicken and shrimp), came with two hot sourdough rolls and a salad. I couldn't help myself and snagged a roll. YUM! I had the Prime Rib dip, onion rings, and two pieces of their gigantic shrimp on the side. Trust me, you want at least two pieces of shrimp. They come with cocktail and tartar sauce. My first time in was yesterday and I must say that while it's spendy, i really enjoyed my experience here. I had a nice long lunch break and Stage Coach is only about 10 min away from my current workplace. I've been hearing about them on the radio lately and it sounds like a place that's been around a long time and has a big following with the locals so decided to check it out. I really love the upscale western esthetic of the restaurant. It was pretty busy but they managed to seat me quick. Looking over the menu, they have several options that caught my eye... some that definitely weren't in my lunch time price range but I'd still love to come back and try at some point. The lamb for instance, sounds to die for! I went simpler and healthier and got the low cal plate which is your choice of a hamburger patty or chicken with cottage cheese and your choice of tomato slices or fruit. All of that sounded great.. I chose to do the hamburger patty this time and told the waitress I want the cottage cheese, tomato slices and a side of the fruit as well.. also a side of veggies to really get my snack on. Everything looked appetizing, tasted fresh and great ! The veggies definitely had some kind of oil or butter on them that I wasn't expecting and probably would have skipped if I'd known that's how they serve them but I still ate almost all of them. All I had left at the end was a small piece or two of the cauliflower but everything else was ate. My waitress was a sweetheart! I believe her name was Nicole, and she took great care of me , bringing me lemon for my water and hot tea, which I decided to get cause I was feeling cold. This was a very nice option for my lunch and I'll definitely come back. Next time I'll likely do the same thing but chicken instead of the hamburger. I'm really glad they have this as a lighter option as I am currently having issues with liver damage and need to eat healthier to reverse the damage to my liver which isn't always easy to do but this helped me stay on track with that and was also very filling! read more

I remember really liking this place, but something changed...Probably me, since this is an institution. Ambiance is definitely that old-style steak house. Dark. Leather. Wood. Should be no surprise here. My issue is that the tables are really close together, resulting in a pretty loud environment. Steaks were ok, but we went there for prime rib. Were there fairly early, around 6pm, and were told that all the prime rib was cooked at least to medium. Ok, points for telling us, but still, how does that occur at a steak house. Note, steaks were better than say Texas Roadhouse, but not nearly as good as I remember. Drinks were good. Service good. Overall experience good. It tells you it's about the food and the experience, not modernizing to attract fickle trend chasers. The menu is straight out of an Americana playbook. Want a side of prawns? Sure! Dutch apple pie a la mode? Yep. My go to is the prime rib French dip for lunch. Simple and juicy with a side of horseradish. For dinner, I get the beef tips. I even adore the side salads served in wooden bowls. Last time I was in I tried the banana cream pie. Haven't had a better version in a long while. If you're looking for classic American fare this is the place. The price point ain't cheap and you'll be fighting for a table around the holidays, but service is good and straightforward. We have been going to the Stagecoach for 30+ years. The food is always consistently delicious, prime rib is out of this world. We always request Bruna because she's the best! We dined there last night, arrived around 7:15 and requested Bruna and was told it would be a two hour wait for her. There wasn't a long wait in the lobby at all.
