If you have EBT, WIC etc. you get in for $5/person so definitely would do that if you have it! I love how big it is, and that is has different buildings for different activities. They also have a nice outdoor picnic area that has benches to have lunch/snacks. Plenty of space for kids to run around (outside) and explore. If its your first time just know youll be there for a couple of hours. The only con I would say is they dont allow strollers inside the buildings (theres a parking area for them in the front if needed). So if you have a baby make sure to bring a baby carrier. I understand why they have that policy, but it just makes it a little hard for parents with small babies. P.S. make sure you say hi to their tortoises outside!

I was told that the owner, JP, has extensive knowledge about everything koi ponds and is a wonderful resource for advising on the installation and required equipment. I wasn't sure that koi would live in this hot desert environment but apparently they do just fine! Zen had a great selection of koi fish in multiple sizes and all the accoutrements to go with them. If I go through with the project I will definitely hit JP up!

Arrived around 10am (a little too late for a hot summer day in my opinion) and after buying our tickets, we took a look at the giant map and knew where we wanted to go...the giraffes of course! The property itself was gorgeous, super clean and we went during the week which likely cut down on the amount of folks there. Totally great. We met Kelly the giraffe and got to feed her. Such a fun experience! All of the staff here were kind, patient, and simply wonderful! I Loved how there was a blend of employees and gracious volunteers here who were all clearly passionate about the park. After we were all done, we headed to the cafe and grabbed a quick beer and pretzel. Perfect little snack! Great and fun times at The Living Desert! It was great taking a few hours to see the animals and even getting to feed one!

I have visited this zoo before and remembered it as a place where animals had more natural environments and where visitors could learn about wildlife and conservation. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different experience. During our visit, we saw a pigeon with what appeared to be a broken wing, as well as a dead bird inside one of the exhibits. A group of us immediately flagged down a staff member to report what we had seen. Rather than showing concern, she seemed visibly annoyed that we had interrupted them while they were driving a golf cart. After I explained the situation, she rolled her eyes, said she would "let someone know," and drove away. For an organization that places such a strong emphasis on animal conservation and welfare, the lack of urgency and compassion we encountered from staff was incredibly disappointing. I sincerely hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, but it left us with a very negative impression.

We thought they had a great selection of sea life to view. They had several different types of Jelly fish & several different species of Sea horses. I absolutely loved seeing the Sea Kelp Dragons, they are so cool to see. The bathrooms were clean, the gift shop was nice, and all of the staff we interacted with were friendly. Now, there's just too many inside and everyone is rushing to be the first one to view the sea life animals. Overall the kiddos and I enjoyed it, and there is an area to touch the star fish, etc which is highly popular and a washing station. He was going to charge me $82.00 for a diamond gobby, 4 turbo snails and 30 crickets. I like wow on you fish tank $19.99 for the diamond gobby, $4.99 each for turbo sales and crickets are $2.00 for a dozen. Should be 46 bucks plus taxs and they have 10% off all the fish. He said we just got the fish in and we didnt have time to change prices. I like so you just making prices up and over charge customers? I see why you guys are losing business. He said he is done here and took everything back and kinda kick us out. Ever since Jordan left this please has gone down hill. I been going there since they first open I brought iguanas, ball python and shit loads of fish. This how they treat the thre customers???
