Loved the training booklet (with pictures!) they provided to us which depicted the commands we used in class as well as helpful tips and information. Trainer - Justus was friendly, organized, knowledgeable and did a great job presenting the information each week. He was super patient and didn't just cover the curriculum, but always spent time each week addressing questions and challenges we (as new puppy owners) experienced while providing solutions. Format - Informal, positive, and puppy friendly (no harsh methods, only positive methods of working with the pups). Loved the group format. Our five month old Bernedoodle got a lot out of the class. So much so she graduated and we signed her up for the intermediate class. read more

DANGEROUS LACK OF TRAINING -- SPECIAL NEEDS DOG PARENTS BEWARE I will never bring my dog back to this location, and I highly caution anyone with a special-needs or senior dog against using their grooming services. My senior greyhound suffers from SLO (Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy), an autoimmune condition affecting his nails and paws. He requires regular nail trims every 3 weeks. On Friday, I checked him in at the salon, and once the groomer looked him over, was told he would be ready in 45 minutes. Minutes later, I received a phone call from PetSmart stating they were rushing him to an emergency vet because his paw was bleeding. Because of his condition, minor bleeding is a known risk that is easily managed with styptic powder--which a professional grooming salon should have readily available-and bandaging. I told them I was right down the street and to wait, but corporate policy apparently bypassed communication, and they were already transporting him. When I arrived at the vet location to meet them, I found the groomer and my dog standing on the hot, 105-degree, La Quinta black asphalt. My greyhound--a breed with incredibly thin skin and zero tolerance for extreme heat--was standing on the scorching ground with a plastic trash bag wrapped around his foot, held in place by a tightly tied ribbon on his leg. This makeshift "bandage" was not only deeply unprofessional, but incredibly dangerous, risking burns to his pads and cutting off circulation to his leg. The lack of basic first-aid knowledge, the absolute panic over a predictable symptom, and the complete disregard for the outdoor elements in La Quinta summer heat is entirely unacceptable. There is a whole aisle in PetSmart with first aid products, so I'm still very confused about why a plastic bag was wrapped around his paw. And why would anyone who knows anything about dogs have a dog standing in full, middle-of-the-day, 105 degree sun on black asphalt? After using the styptic powder available at the vet, I took my dog home immediately and bandaged him properly myself. If you have a dog that requires actual care, knowledge, or specific handling, do not trust this corporate salon. Their panic overrides basic animal safety. I seriously wonder how much training their groomers receive. read more

This location is one of my favorites because the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They always go the extra mile to show all the phone discounts available in their app. I understand some people are in a hurry and have no patience, but it's great to see them helping their customers. While people complain that only one person is working the registers, I've noticed that when there is a line of two or more, they do call for additional registers to open. Remember, these folks don't control staffing, so try to give them a break. If anyone has worked retail, you'll understand. I've been taking my bulldog there for his bath and brush, and I must question the people who said they abuse pups. I've never witnessed anything like that, and my Frenchie is always excited to go and always bolts for the grooming department. He has bonded with Ryan B., who treats him very well. Of course, if I thought there was mistreatment happening, I certainly wouldn't keep going there. Today I was reminded why I don't feel comfortable supporting PetSmart. I went in looking to purchase a betta, but most of the fish looked sickly and lethargic, and many of their cups had visibly cloudy, dirty-looking water. I brought it up to the employee at checkout and asked who I could report it to. Instead of giving me that information, she told me the cups are cleaned every three days and that the water can look cloudy because the cups get scratched. I explained that the water was clearly dirty and the fish looked like they were struggling, but she simply said "yeah" and continued checking me out. I ended up going to a local fish store instead and paid a little more for a healthy fish. I'd rather support a business that genuinely cares about the animals in its care. read more

I am revising a previous two-star review from last year to a very enthusiastic five-star review after my experience today with Jessica, the most wonderful groomer. I brought the two shih tzus in for a last minute cut, and I was floored by Jessica's customer service, patience, and attention to detail. Emmett, my anxiety dog, will never walk for anyone else unless I am right next to him. When Jessica went to take him back, he did initially put on the breaks, and then Jessica encouraged him...which, to my complete surprise, worked!! He trotted right back with her! Jessica let me know it would be about 3-4 hours for them to be done, and it was like clockwork. When I picked them up, I could tell that they had been well cared for, and they also looked fantastic. Jessica helped me to completely changed my opinion of the La Quinta grooming salon. We'll definitely be back! read more

I brought my Aussie doodle in to get CLEANED UP because I had decided to shave her myself to save some money. I had gotten all the matts out minus the ones behind her ears (mind you they were very minor). I brought her in and made sure to ask them to leave all the hair on her head, and only cut what NEEDED to be cut. Just a clean up. I got my dog back, and she looked like she had been completely shaved again. She came back chopped, she was shaved down to her skin in the front (she didn't have any matts there so there is no reason for that) she has a cut behind her ears with some dried up blood, they cut her on her neck (which again didn't have any matts, and barley needed to be touched by a razor. I am extremely disappointed, and feel awful for the pain my dog felt in the process of this appointment. I had given specific instruction when booking the appointment, and told my groomer when I got there the same instructions. None of it was followed. I was also charged for a $30 de-matting fee (my dog had MAYBE 5 matts in total and they were not crazy). In total the appointment ended up costing $130 and my dog came out cut up, shaved to the skin, un -even, and nothing of what I asked for. It was honestly the worst grooming appointment I have ever seen. The video I attached is what my dog looked like before I brought her into PetSmart grooming. She was mostly shaved, minus her back legs and head. The rest of the photos were taken after I got her back. So disappointing and honestly sad. read more

We have been taking our mini goldendoodle, Kermit D'oodbreaux, to PetSmart for grooming services for over a year now. Jaimee D is our regular groomer. Jaimee D has developed a wonderful relationship with Kermit and he looks forward to his visits with her. He has an extra curly coat and Jaimee D works out all of his matted corners without skinning him to the nubs. He gets a fresh cozy teddy bear cut each time, which grows out beautifully. This allows us to go extra long between cuts if we want to enjoy his full coated look for a month or so! We love that PetSmart and Jaimee D. are there for our grooming needs and that our little boy is happy going in and full of spunk coming home. Affordable prices and quality grooming products used!!! In response to reviews that state prices are out of control: We book online and the price is ALWAYS as stated. No surprises! It never takes longer than estimated. I have been taking my dog Lola to Petsmart Grooming for a few years now. We usually book with Jamiee. I can't say enough good things about Jamiee. She is very friendly and caring to her furry clients. My dog can be a bit nervous during grooming sessions, but not with Jamiee she is incredibly kind and patient throughout the appointment. Petsmart sucks! Their advertized sales are a joke. Good luck getting the advertized price or their "reward points". I just bought $64 of Purina one wet cat food yesterday. Supposedly you would earn $10 in Rewards for a $50 purchase + 2x points on cat merchandise. I received neither. The pro plan was on sale but I still spent over $50. So I decided to go back and buy 4 more boxes for a total of $70 pre tax and not use any points. That way I was way in the clear. The price on this stores website is $17.48, it was $18.49 at the register. So I asked what was up? So this is what the millennial at the La Quinta store told me. "You don't get points on sale items and the on line advertized price is different than the in store price. If you want that price, you have to buy it online and come back and pick it up here at the store in 2 hours". I made like Elvis and left the building. I didn't and couldn't get through to my vet so I was out of luck. I was terribly disappointed with the person who acted as if she was in charge, Heidi. Sebastian who bathed my girls, as well as Jaimee, who checked us in were very nice. It took way too long for the first simple baths of the day. They are groomed regularly and get out in two hours, including haircuts. This was almost four. in addition my dogs are not welcome back according to Heidi because I was honest, and although there have been 18 months since the last episode I mentioned that Esmerelda has epilepsy. Heidi tried to tell me she knows animals, mine, better than I do. WRONG. GET A NEW BROOM I would not go back even if it was free and prompt. it was neither. I recently took my 2 doggies to get their grooming done. Their regular groomer wasn't there, so I had to use two others. The first time I took my older doggie (16), I let his groomer Nicole know not to shave him too closely. I showed her the 5 small wart like bumps on his body. I told her I wanted the height of hair to be higher than the bumps so he can't lick or be hurt. Nicole wrote down the size blade in his chart. His groomer was Heidi, she is the groomer manager, so I thought for sure she would listen and cut his hair as asked. When she called for me to pick him up, I asked if she cut his hair as Nicole did. She said she cut it a little shorter than I wanted. I asked her why she cut his hair differently than I asked, she said she thought it would be better. Very arrogant Why I am so upset is not only did she not cut his hair properly, but she is one of those people that doesn't apologize. I also noticed how tense the other groomers were around her, not the normal friendly personality's. If I am going to spend over $70 to get my doggie groomed, I expect my doggie gets the haircut I wanted. read more

Worst grooming service in the valley. Do not subject your pet to these people. The attitude of the groomers is anything but pet friendly. They double booked my express appointment and expected me to leave my 14 year old dog in a cage with them for 4-6 hours. No animal should be subjected to being caged for that long. Attitude was "oh well, either leave him or reschedule". Express service requires that I rearrange my schedule so I'm available to pick the dog up right away or what's the point, rescheduling 30 minutes before the appointment with a take it or leave it attitude tells me how they treat customers, imagine how they treat the pet. read more

I dare to write this comment because I would not like any animal to go through what my dog went through at this establishment again. About a month ago, I took my one-year-old dog to this PetSmart to be bathed and trimmed, with the confidence that because it is a well-known place my dog would be fine. Unfortunately my go2 groomer was not available so that's why I brought her here. I simply brought my puppy in for a trim and bath, my dog was doing very, very well, in fact, I have videos of her playing with my other dog that same day. I took her in and it took more than 3 hours for the grooming department to finish the job. At first, we called to ask if she was ready, and they were not able to give me a solid answer. After 6 hours I called but this time no answer and no response from grooming. Finally, after 8 hours we went to pick her up and instead of cutting her hair they practically shaved my poor baby and her skin was very hurt and red. When she walked, she cried a lot and bit her tail. We also noticed that she walked sideways, very crooked and if we wanted to carry her she would cry. She was very uncomfortable. I then complained to the grooming department and management to see if I could get some answers...at least an explanation of what had happened. They basically told us, and I quote, "your dog was already like that when you brought her in." My puppy was in so much pain I had to take her in as an emergency to a local vet, where I was informed she had a damaged tendon. They did an examination and was told she had a torn tendon, however, my puppy was still in a lot of pain. Once, I got my results, I went back to PetSmart and spoke to the two so-called "store managers" Maria and Veronica to try and figure out what they had done to my puppy. Well, they were not able to give me any answers or solutions. They said they would check the cameras to see if maybe she got dropped or mishandled. Apparently, according to them, nothing happened and was told my dog was already injured when I brought her in. BOLOGNY!!!! They completely denied what I believe to be the mishandling of my puppy and or even abuse. They did not seem too worried about the condition of my dog after I waited 8 hours to get her back from grooming. The days passed and my dog did not improve, if not quite the opposite, every day she cried and was unable to walk and poop. Not knowing what else to do and in our despair we decided to take her to Tijuana for a second opinion. Just by touching her, the vet immediately told us that the dog was fractured, they did X-rays, and finally they gave us the diagnosis and found out our dog has 3 fractures in the pelvis, it indicated that she could not move and was in a lot of pain. We were basically told our dog had been dropped. The vet in Mexico advised us our puppy must rest for 1 month without any kind of movement, otherwise she wouldn't heal properly and would require surgery. Only to go to the bathroom and everything in bed practically. We were told that if her fractured pelvis doesn't heal, in 1 month they will have to do surgery. We returned to PetSmart to give them the news the Tijuana doctor gave us, at least so they could reimburse us for our bill at their store and all the medical bills and they basically said "no." They refused to be held accountable and denied all responsibility and refused to give me my money back. They continued to use the same excuse as before and kept saying that my dog was already injured when I brought her in for grooming. Such a huge chain, who doesn't even know how to properly cater to animals SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS!!! These people hurt my puppy, and now I have to hope my dog doesn't need surgery. I consider it totally illogical that a place where they are dedicated to "caring" for animals, does not have at least the understanding that any animal should be treated with PATIENCE, RESPECT and EXTREME CARE. Animals may not speak, but they hurt just like people. After seeing what my dog has had to go through, I hope nobody else has to go through this at a place where you leave your total trust in the groomer's hands. The staff in charge of this establishment lack ethic, responsibility and conduct of at least having informed us if something happened during that time, or the acceptance that something happened with my dog and a SOLUTION!!! My dog has not recovered and is still in a lot of pain and unable to walk straight. We have no idea if anyone else has had an experience like this at this place, but I hope that with this concern you choose to take your pet to a groomer you trust and knows what they are doing. DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED ANIMAL TO THIS PETSMART!!! WORST SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE EVER!!! NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! This place should not be in business. read more

We were told by staff that we would have to wait until 11:30 since their system wouldn't allow them to generate the paperwork for the appointment until that time. Usually like one person walking around and one person on the cash register and then a couple of employees (3) standing around talking.. almost like the employees won't do much unless asked to do so. The sad part is that they have some good groomers, They are very expensive but those of us who love our pets are happy to pay. But I have to wait up to an hour to check in for grooming when I have an appointment. You cannot call the store for an appointment because as the salon supervisor explains, Pet Smart is too cheap to give us enough help". I have taken my dog there about 7 times and every time I walked away upset. When you talk to the store Manager all you get is excuses, when you call corporate you discover all they want to do is get to the next caller. They are using covid to get you to put up with terrible service and unhappy store Associates. Sorry I want to trade where I can feel wanted and when I leave look forward to returning. If this is how you want to be treated continue to go there it will leave me more open appointment times for the groomer I find that wants our business. read more

We had our Shih Tzu, Lola, groomed yesterday and she looks so cute! Jannell was her groomer and she did a great job! The cut is adorable and we know she was thorough because she found some burrs between our pup's toes, so we're very thankful for that. Lyle the manager was Top Notch with his customer service. I appreciate him going out of his way to help me with trying to find the right muzzle and barking apparatus for my dads GSP. He was super knowledgeable and took his time to explain everything. This has been so far one of the best experiences at Petsmart. The only negative , while I was there a dog had urinated on the floor a long path and while I was checking out , had slipped and fell in the store. It was not good. I went to offer help, and noticed she had on slippers but looked at the long patch of dog pee. The employee had put a sign that said wet floor, but didn't do anything to clean up the urine. That was not good. The good news is, the customer seemed to be ok, no broken hip but the bad news is they need to do a better job at cleaning up after the dogs and the owners need to be held responsible to clean up after their pets. But over all, the experience I had was a good one, minus the urine issue. read more

I have been taking my last five dogs since they were puppies to Petsmart grooming. I never had any problems until I came to California. I have always picked up my dogs within a reasonable amount of time when I get notification that they are ready and I see they've started a new system where you can pay your bill online and they tell you your dog is ready. However, I received a phone call saying that my dog would be ready in 20 minutes. I said I would be a little over an hour because I was working on something and I'm not close to the shop. She said it's fine no problem take your time. I did not take advantage of the situation. I was in no way late, when I came in my dog was quiet was not barking. And then the guy says to me oh we need to talk. You need to start doing speed grooming. It's in the notes because he doesn't like the crate. I said I don't want to do speed grooming it cost $15 more which is not in my budget and they already charge $60 Just for the basic haircut and bath that would be a $75 bill and I guess they expect me to wait there until my dog is ready which obviously I have things I have to do and what is the point in making the grooming appointment, if I need to sit there and wait for my dog? I've never had any complaints about my dog until I went to La Quinta groomers for Petsmart. I've been to the Palm Desert Petsmart on Monterey never had a problem so it must be the associates that are causing the problem with my dog. It's not my dog, causing the problem and I'm going to call them tomorrow because there's no way I'm spending $75 to sit there and wait for my dog to get groomed why they speed through it and charge me more money, everything about this Desert area is a rip off it's almost impossible to find good people here that do what they say. Don't try to rip you off and don't try to make an extra buck. They have kids working at that place and they obviously don't know what they're doing. They were definitely the problem and stressed my dog out because I've never had a problem anywhere else and the other Petsmart grooming it was not my dog and I don't appreciate them insinuating so. read more

Fernando at the groomers was phenomenal with my Lucie! I highly recommend him to care for your puppers. After having had terrible experiences with the groomers at the Palm Springs location, Fernando restored my faith in Petsmart. He listened to me when I expressed my concerns with my past experiences at the other location and the terrible service I received, I explained that my Lucie was a sweet loving dog and needed a patient dog loving groomer. He reassured me that he would be patient with her, that he loved dogs and owned 3 of his own. Then he very gently took her and gave me a thumbs up when I was outside the window looking in- that gave me so much piece of mind. To many, a dog may just be a dog, but to me my Lucie is a sweet soul, and Fernando treated her as such. I was so happy when he called me and told me Lucie was ready and that she would warm up after a few more visits. I gave him my word that Lucie will only be coming to him from now on! I also made sure to tip him, since after all, it was more than just a service he provided, he went above and beyond for my Lucie and I. Thank you Fernando for loving on my Lucie! read more
