UPDATE: August 2022 We stayed here four nights and enjoyed the continental breakfast each day. 7 am - 9 am eggs, sausage, yogurt, toast, English muffins, blueberry muffins, fruit cups, cream cheese, and danish. Fruit juice available during those hours. Coffee is available in the lobby; it tastes better than the diy coffee the the room. Rajesh and Lauren at the front desk are awesome. Our son totally loved the pool. I noticed other reviewers had issues with his clean the rooms were. Our room was clean. The towels were not sparkly white, but the bed sheets were. We will stay here next time we are in town! - - - - August 2021. We have stayed here two more times since my last review, and have felt more at home each time. The woman at the front desk was wonderful. She shared info on the best Indian food in town, she did an amazing job keeping the breakfast area well stocked with raisin bread and pastries. . For the first time we got an upstairs room which overlooked the marsh (room #19). It has two comply beds, more pillows than anyone could ever want. I make the mistake of plugging the coffee pod machine in after I loaded the water; it started spouting water within three seconds.

Just one night here as I was scheduled late into Boston and didn't want to drive more than an hour or so before turning in for the night. The Coachman is a motel-style property with entrances to the rooms both facing the parking lot and an interior corridor. The room was freezing cold when I got in (it's 35 degrees outside!) but it warmed up very quickly with the heater in the wall and was comfortable all night. I had low hopes when I pulled in but they were well exceeded once I was inside. The room was clean and comfortable. I say that a lot in my hotel room reviews, but no, really. this room is clean. It has everything I needed from a comfortable work desk with a work chair, a sufficient number of outlets for my electronics, a wifi network that worked quite well and it was quiet all night. I thought the slow close toilet seat lid was a nice plus to prevent slamming. I would totally stay here again. [Review 10007 overall, 1590 of 2018.]

The Coachman Inn is a 3 diamond AAA approved hotel located smack dab in the middle of an outlet shopping extravaganza. Having bought a Groupon for a two-night stay, I found myself trekking up here for a much needed weekend getaway. Located just minutes from Portsmouth, NH (luckily they were having a Restaurant Week promotion this past weekend) as well as neighboring towns of York and Ogunquit, this hotel makes it easy to jump around from destination to destination. This location boasts a number of amenities... quick and easy check in- and out-, large guest rooms, free high speed internet, a continental breakfast, heated outdoor pool, family rooms with multiple beds and bathrooms, as well as pet friendly rooms. An activities room offers board games, a high definition television, etc. You can tell that the hotel itself has undergone a number of renovations as the registration/breakfast area appears well-done and brightly lit. The rooms on the other hand, while clean and spacious, could use a bit of updating. I can totally appreciate the old New England feel the flowered wall paper/curtains and dark wood framed furniture exudes... its the ridiculously low ceiling panels that I constantly hit out of place with any sort of early morning/late night stretching, the curtains that don't close all the way and allow unwanted light in with each sunrise, and the dim nature of the bedside lamps. On the flip side, there are a number of positive features with these rooms. Mine in particular had a mini fridge/freezer, microwave, flat screen television with HBO, individual room temperature control, hair dryers, and the like. In addition, my room had double door access... one leading directly to the parking lot with the other opening to the inner hallway with access to the continental breakfast area as well as ice/vending machines. The continental breakfast is simple and includes an assortment of breads and breakfast pastries with a nearby toaster, yogurt, cereals, fruits, and hot/cold beverages like milk, coffee, etc. In fact, these hot beverages are available and accessible 24 hrs/day. Breakfast is open from 6 to 11 am... which is a lot later than most places I have visited. I did not feel as though I had to rise early just to get my breakfast in... made for a much more relaxed morning. The staff here are quite friendly. All encounters were pleasant and efficiently handled. Even a request for a stamp to send a complimentary postcard was handled with as much importance as any other guest issue.

One of only two hotels in Kittery that allow pets. YAY! The staff was super nice and accommodating. Not only does this place allow pets, but they have PLENTY of outside space to walk and play with your dog. Beyond that, the location couldn't be better. Its right across from the Adidas, Coach, Old Navy, PacSun, Rockport, etc. building of outlets, and is located right in the middle of the rest of them. There's also a Dunkin Donuts next door... SCORE. The coolest thing I thought was that you have two doors on your room, one that goes to the outside and one that goes to the inside of the hotel, very cool. So if you want to go get breakfast, you just use your hotel door and be on your way, there's no walking around the building. But if you want to walk outside, there you are. As for the room, not too shabby. I had a queen bed and it was a pretty small room, but I was happy with it. For a pet-designated room, I would have expected some kind of weird scent, but there was nothing. My pooch could definitely smell other dogs, but my human nose didn't notice a thing. Everything was very clean too. If you don't have pets, don't worry, they have designated rooms for pet owners. The only thing is that it's a little outdated, the wall paper is all flowers and the doors are wood and could be replaced, but there was nothing physically wrong with any of it. Just a matter of style I guess! I honestly have no complaints whatsoever. I even got a winter special rate of 2 nights for $99, which you just can't beat. $10 extra per night for the pooch, but most other places charge you $20, so no complaints there. All around good place to stay if you're coming to Kittery to go shopping. I didn't see any other hotels, so this has to be the best location too.
