I wish I could give negative stars. The fish was just this side of burned and dripped grease. The menu says it comes with fries and coleslaw and when you order you're offered a side. If you choose one, though, you don't get the fries --although the coleslaw is still included. Snotty food servers will treat you like dirt, though, if you challenge that so be warned. We thought we would try this place after not coming for a couple years. We came in a Friday about 4:45pm. It wasn't very busy. We asked the waitress if there were any happy hour specials and she said, no I don't think so. Ok, so we just ordered a couple beers. Then she came back and took our order. She didn't know what kind of fish the fish and chips were. We ordered food and proceeded to wait over an hour for our cold food. We watched all these tables around us with different servers come, get their food, drinks, eat and leave before we even got our food. She just would disappear. Our food was definitely sitting there in the kitchen for a really long time before it was served to us. You could tell they attempted to microwave my tacos, the cheese was melted, the shells hard and chewy and lettuce wilted. My husband's fish was lukewarm. The waitress wasn't rude or anything, so I still gave her a better tip than she deserved but she seemed to lack knowledge and experience. The manager was going around asking customers how everything was. I was just honest and said it was ok, but cold because I think we were forgot about. She came and handed me a $10 gift card for future use. I would have rather had one of our meals comped, not sure I'd go back. We aren't the type of people to complain at restaurants and wasn't planning on saying anything but wanted to be honest when the food was cold and really not acceptable. I'm sure when the manager saw the time the food was ordered on the ticket she knew we were right in saying something. We are 60 yrs old and have been going to Coaches for 20+ years. Went for food & drinks on 11/27/25 and Sat at the outside bar for 1.5 hrs while eating and having a few drinks. Was then told we had to move shortly cuz it would be standing room only due to a band. We said no problem, I would just like to speak to mgt at that time about their policy of moving our seats and what our choices of seating would then be. The on duty mgr came over and the first thing I said was can we have a conversation about your policy cuz it was very busy and I knew he would try to move along quickly about this or any concern on a Saturday night. Now prior to this we had one drink and one shot a piece and ordered food and sat at the corner end of the bar behind the corner post. Well the mgr came and I asked him where are they moving our chairs too? He said to the outer wall area. I said ok. But why do we have to move when our bar stools aren't in any aisle way, or wheel chair access way cuz we are in at the corner behind a post? He said he didn't have time to talk and walked away. We then sat for a few minutes while watching 2 younger girls sitting on bar stools at the other end of the outside bar and were not being coerced to give up their stools. Well about an hour later another event staff person representing the "Buck pole event" came over and said we have to give up our stools at the outside bar but we can still stand in the same spots and drink and hang if we want. I questioned the common sense of this bit did give up my stool to be taken away and was told me and my wife could still stand there and hang around and drink. So we did! Then all of a sudden about 10 minutes the bartender Justin said we have to pay our bill and leave! What??? Apparently he says I was arguing with 2 different people, when all I had and requested was a conversation about their policy with a mgr. First of all Justin couldn't even here my conversation with the 2 different mgt type guys and if it was bad they would've said to us to leave right then and there? We weren't sure what was going on at that point so I asked Justin if we could again speak to a mgr but no one came. After about 20 minutes we order from a different bartender who brought us a new round of drinks. Then after that she said we can't have any more orders cus Justin says so. We were confused at this point. When Justin came back to our end of the bar I asked if we could talk for a quick minute about the issue of your event representative said we are fine yet you said we are not? He listened for a quick minute and continued about his business or bartending. The next thing we know in about 5 minutes is that the event representative said we have to leave and are being kicked out!! I asked him what for and he had no answer other than repeating over over we have to leave. Now the only thing I can think of as to why we have to leave is because I questioned their policy of seating after we have already been seated. Keep in mind that even though we didn't agree and we did give up our seating and continued enjoying the atmosphere without issue and had pleasant conversations with people around us. But here's the kicker!!!. After being told to give up our bar stools, which we did, 1.5 hours later the 2 younger girls at the same bar were still allowed sit in their stools while we were being told to leave!! So while kids under 10 were standing at the outside bar with their guardian after 9 pm in Michigan, and after younger more attractive girls could sit at the bar, we were told to leave without a conversation with a manager about the seating policy. Which again, no problem with giving up the seat and we're told we could stand. We were ultimately told to leave cuz we questioned the policy and asked to talk about it. Again we weren't immediately told to leave, this was only after being told we could stand and we did for 45 minutes that all of a sudden we had to leave. Not from drinking of being disrespectful to other patrons m, but because we politely asked about policy that didn't make sense. I believe because Coaches Pub and Grill has now ballooned to more success over the last couple years that service doesn't matter. They will fill your spot with someone else. Save your money if you want nice food with nice service or a live band atmosphere someone else. They also let their friends sneak through the "locked door" to avoid cover chargers. When we pointed out that people were coming through the "locked" door we were told "oh, I'm not sure about that" even though that door was locked when we came in with a "use the main door". Trust me, if I took this much time to explain our experience it isn't worth your time to experience it yourself. Coaches Pub & Grill ain't the same place it was when it first opened about 20 yrs ago with Ed. From my understanding it has new ownership recently the last few years. These guys straight scammed me. I bought Shepards pie and that's like my favorite food of all time. And what I got was not shepards pie. I paid $16 for mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and shredded beef. When it's supposed to be ground beef cooked with veggies, seasoning, broth. Idk how they turned my favorite food into such a crappy meal. I took 1 bite and they still made me pay for it. My girl got the same thing and barely ate it either. Also took an hour for us to get the food, plus took them a half hour to give us salad, and 40 minutes to give us chips and dip. Hi Friend and Family, this is a warning post..... A group of my friends from work went to Coaches on Friday, we had the worst experience, my Friends car got hit in the parking lot. He went inside to talk to the owner he wasn't there so he told the Manager. She couldn't access the parking lot surveillance, she told him to stop back Monday. He went back to Coaches Monday and told the owner what had happened and asked to see the parking lot surveillance, the owner was so rude to my friend and wouldn't let him see the parking lot surveillance because he was afraid of losing one customer. I hadn't been here in YEARS, but I had fond memories. Came back over this last weekend and I was honestly really impressed. Our server (and others working) were incredibly nice and bubbly. I believe our servers name was Taylor and she even suggested a new drink for me to become obsessed with . We split pizza and apps and it was all really good; the fried pickles were awesome. I would consider this restaurant a hidden jem because it is a really good restaurant but by the reviews it looks like a bad place but really, it is an amazing restaurant. Our waitress, Michelle, was really nice and likes to talk to the people at the table. The owner of the restaurant, should promote her or give her a raise because she is a really nice person and she is good at her job. I have ate here for over ten years. Over the last year the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up. We placed a to go order and the fries were so dry and hard. We were missing ranch dressing. The worst part was the bread on my club grinder. Worse service in the world!!! I understand if a eatery is full and busy that service will, naturally, be a little lagging. However, tonight the main floor was less than half full, there appeared to be 5 wait staff working, and the service could not have been slower. My wife ordered a salad that took 38 minutes to come out of the kitchen. After my initial drink order (a beer) our waitress pulled a Houdini and disappeared. I went to the bar myself to order my next beer. When she discovered this, she said she was "sorry." Now, ask yourself, how did that help me? Did the fact she was "sorry" make me less thirsty. More tables opened during our wait. After 40 minutes was told could be another hour or more to wait. Management decided during our wait to hold those booths & tables for large game crowds. Game not even starting for another 2 hours. Not one group sat during our 40 minute wait. Waiting area was packed. We left. Several other parties left. Went to Texas Road House. Started out with some of the most tender cheese bread that I've ever had - hot, bubbly cheese cooked to perfection. The shrimp fajitas were excellent - some of the most flavorful I've come across! I must say that the recent change in menu has added some excellent choices. We wanted to stay close to home, and decided after seeing the new menu to give this place another try. The Perch taco's are very good. Very filling and great flavours. On a second visit I had the Barbacoa burrito that had a white poblano sauce on it that made the dish stand out from many burrito dishes I have experienced previously. The smoked gouda burger didn't hold up well on the buns they use, it was sloppy and messy. When dining is allowed again we plan on trying more of their new menu. Went to Coachs for the first time last night with friends for a bite to eat after Lansing Beerfest, what an awesome place. I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, it was delicious reminded me of Sunday dinners with my grandmother. My friends had spinach artichokes dip and pizza the were both delicious. The sevice was great, my glass was never empty and the waitresses were friendly. DO NOT GO!!! I'm a regular customer at Coach's only because My uncle and I feel we owe them SOMETHING when utilizing their free pool hours (11-4pm), and let's just put it this way, if it wasn't for the free pool, I WOULD NEVER COME BACK! When we attend we always spend $10-$20 and ALWAYS tip exceptionally (in hopes to get SOME service in return) The food is terrible and the service is worse! They only serve the bar and even then you have to get their attention for any type of service. The prices are outrageous and the facility is sub-par. Again, I ONLY go because of the free pool from 11-4pm. BUT just recently I was in there playing pool and getting lunch (again, NEVER satisfied) and in the middle of our game, a waitress comes up and locks all the pool tables saying our time is up - this is at 3:43pm (iPhone/Android time) EXACTLY. When we asked why so early they said "bar time." Which was very confusing because they had never done this before, also very upsetting because we weren't even close to done with our time! This is a place that lives and dies by pool players, pool leagues, and pool tournaments. A lot of great pool players from the area travel to this place for THE FREE POOL 11-4pm. So I was throughly disappointed and wanted to talk to the manager. When I called and asked the first time they hung up as if they knew I was just going to complain. The second time I talked to somebody (don't think it was a manager) to figure out why their "bar time" is 17 minutes off of cell phone time (or "normal time") and they said "...yeah to people who pay..."
