I get everything from here and have been shopping here for years! It's organized and always find great treasures as well as the basics.

Their prices are hilariously overpriced at least when it comes to electronics and collectibles. They're charging antique store prices, for a place where you're supposed to find killer deals. They used to be reasonable when the other thrift shop across the street was in business. They want $9 for a single older packaged hot wheel that you can get $5 on eBay. And they want almost $100 for the oldest Xbox 360 known to man. Only reason a 2 star and not 1 is that they have the most variety of items of the thrift stores on Main Street imo. read more

This store is a joke. I tried paying with rolls of loose change and the cashier was getting frustrated with me at the start. Saying they don't take that in cause they don't know what's inside. Okay so I opened it to count it. She called the manager. How I am at fault here? The manager was willing to count but I said forget it. I don't see what is the problem. It is money. She proceeds to tell me, we aren't coin star. What happen to the change shortage back in 2020? Whatever, I stopped going there for a good while cause the prices are high. Really cool store had a lot of cool pieces. Somethings are a bit pricey. But all around a fun spot, and things to go through The reason I rate it so low is I found a bracelet in the case, and they put it on hold for me for when I would check out but when I went to check out she said the tag isn't on it so now I can't get it. For one , the woman that I got was being pretty confrontational from the start we were asking her questions about some of our items and she just seem bothered, I told her I was feeling sensitive towards how she was being and aksed if she could meet us with kindness as we were with her, I stayed kind because I believe in kindness for kindness. I asked why she can't just take it to go get priced and she said it takes a day or so to process it again, (Which most stores would take it to the back and just re-price it to ultimately make the sale) I was with my friend who is 65 years old and who had bought a lot of things and was buying the bracelet for me. We asked why if we were willing to pay for it that we couldn't just get it. We explained we are over an hour away and it wouldn't be easy to come back. We were trying to genuinely understand the policy and so because she wasn't being helpful asked to speak to the manager in a kind way. As he came she tried making it seem like we were haggling and trying to bribe her but we weren't just were trying to understand the situation. The manager was nice but explained she was like this, apologized, explained the policy and I didn't get to buy the bracelet, which was a bummer but more so the way the cashier really sat with me and after I left I thought about how I wish I had just asked her " how can we have more compassion for each other" because we all go through things and that's ok, I felt it wasn't she was mad at us just her experience, it was busy, and who knows what she had going on but I hope maybe she can see this and learn to be mindful of the energy we put at others and have more compassion and patience. The prices are too high. They want more than retail sometimes. If something is not priced they will not send it to you they will not make up a price OK you have to come during the week Monday through Friday even if you don't live around here. This place is a joke!!! I grew up in Ventura and used to I love thrifting up here. Unfortunately coalition has become terrible, part of Ventura's new bougie vibe. Found a cool piece of a Teddy ruxpin set, they wouldn't sell it because it was part of a "set". I live in LA driving 2 and 1/2 hours of driving to pick up a $3 item is not worth it. The guy in the back told me how much he would price it, he told me I HAD to come back tomorrow. He wouldn't even let me buy the whole set because he had "already" priced the two other items in it individually. I even left and came back and you put it BACK on the self for sale WTF I get the policy for repricing, but you guys gave me literally no options so 1 star. read more

Used to be my go-to thrift store in Ventura, but now finding prices a lot higher than before. LP records in mostly poor condition are now $3.50 each. More collectible ones are pulled and kept behind the counter with much higher prices than you will find online or at local record stores. read more

Couple months ago I bought a couple coloring books from the Goodwill up the street from this store and when I go in there which I had the coloring books tucked underneath my arm I found another couple coloring books here and when I went to pay for them the lady was telling me to put the other books that I had bought from the Goodwill on the counter I explained to her that I didn't buy them there that I bought them at the Goodwill she didn't believe me so she called management and I told him to check the cameras because they would have seen that I walked in with them but they didn't want to do that because of course they're going to be wrong and she didn't want to feel stupid I guess so fast forward a couple months later my boyfriend and I just got kicked out for that issue and we didn't even steal anything so no stars and like I said their prices are just outrageous anyways this is thrift store shouldn't be that much for anything what do you think you are Neiman Marcus or Barney's in New York ? read more

This used to be my favorite thrift store! They have a large sale floor with tons of space. But in recent time this has become the most outrageous, ludicrous, and our right ridiculous "thrift store" one can go to today. Upon my last visit I they had a couple items locked up on the right wall. One was an older Supreme Tee, the condition wasn't stellar it had been loved and worn. Along with that they had a couple old Grateful Dead Tees. Now obviously these items are worth a little bit of money but they were TAXING on these items. They wanted $130 for the Supreme Tee and $160 each on the Dead jawns. On top of that, while shopping through the regular racks they have some out of pocket prices on some basic ass tees. Now I get that this thrift is trying to make some money, we all are. But pricing vintage tees ABOVE what they sell for is outrageous. This thrift needs to get better prices and staff. read more

This was honestly one of all time favorite thrift stores in Ventura but their prices have absolutely gotten insane. I remember buying a really cool "Freddy VS Jason" shirt a couple years back for under $6. If I would've seen that shirt NOW, it would've cost up to $80! It sucks seeing so many clothes with that price tag, if it has a graphic on the shirt.. forget it because it's definitely not going to be worth the price they're selling it for. Honestly, a lot of the clothes they sell aren't worth the high price tag. This isn't a thrift store by any means anymore. This place had so much! There's three rooms of stuff. Big selection that keeps getting replenished right before your eyes. I felt like I should start going through the racks all over again because I would see staff restocking where I had just been. Whoever is pricing makes some curious decisions but I'd hate to let them in on how cheaply they've priced some expensive stuff while overpricing run of the mill items. I found a jacket that I fell in love with and what happens I get to the counter and no tag! The counter lady who was sweet by the way refuses to sell it to me without a tag siting store policy. Terrible customer service. My wife wanted to purchase a bag of toys for her classroom and somehow the price tag fell off as we walked through the store. When we arrived at the counter the cashier said we could not purchase the bag because the price tag was missing. She said we'd have to wait a week and come back and hope the bag was still available. I said I'd retrace our steps through the store and find the fallen price tag. I found the tag and brought it to the front of the store only to find that in the meantime my wife had spoken to the manager and he said he would not allow her to purchase the bag either even after I showed him the missing tag. I could not believe the stupidity of this manager and the other cashier. What a miserable mindset for a store supposedly raising funds for charity. This place is basically unshoppable now unless you are a rich hipster. Anything worth having, especially clothing, is listed well above new retail price. Many many tshirts that are $40/$50 dollars. Jackets $60/$80+. Etc etc. Even random stuff if it has any sort of graphic $18-$24 dollars. And this is not stuff that is in new condition, it is all heavily used. The "cool" factor is the only thing that is artificially raising the cost of items here and this is just another place that used to be great but has been ruined by rich thrifters willing to pay absurd prices. I am incredibly disappointed with my shopping experiences at Coalition Thrift. I go about once a month and always leave disappointed with how overpriced it is. I have decided I won't be back until they decide to price their items fairly. Today I popped in and found they were selling a tiny souvenir dish from Finland for $15.00 and a ceramic teapot was $50.00! It's a messy, dusty community thrift shop with boutique and department store pricing. I have noticed that anything that is fairly newer and on the uglier side is closer to thrift shop prices but if it's a vintage item and has a cool look to it, it will be incredibly overpriced. The joy of thrift shopping is the hunt for affordable used items that have been thrown away but are ready for a second life, you won't experience this joy at Coalition Thrift. read more

I love thrift stores, my husband not so much and this would be a prime example of why. The store was so huge and buzzing with people I had to check it out. Husband and son holding their noses in tow. Ugh...ok hurry through, fingers crossed for something fabulous. Ok....didn't happen. While the have endless rows of clothes, they are yucky, dirty, musty and poor quality. The decor and electronics, kids stuff, kitchen wares, books, all in bad shape. Bargains Bargains Bargains....there's ton of them in this store. On a recent trip to Ventura, we wandered around downtown and hopped from store to store. This one had a decent selection of goods. There was a section where they were selling old vinyl records...that was a lot of fun to dig through those to see if I could find anything interesting. My friend's kid is going to UCSB next year and we found a section of bikes that were very cheap. I called him to tell him about it so he could pick up a cheap one to ride around campus and Isla Vista. Of course there were a ton of knick knacks all over the store. She said she would get back to me and never did. Was very rude about it. I don't tend to shop here because the clothes that I like tend to cost about the same price as new with tags at Marshall's or Ross, but my friend keeps finding interesting shoes here for me. I've found several good pairs of boots for under $6. Lines can be long and the store doesn't feel clean. If you are doing a tour of Ventura thrifts, you have to check out Coalition. Yeah it's too crowded, prices are sometimes too high, and the checkout lines can be long and slow like war rations are being handed out. But I still find something to buy almost every time I come in, whether it's a record, a weird cassette tape, or one of the many old books. My daughter has found good clothes here, but that is hit and miss. So a 3.5 overall but upped to 4 because you need to try it at least once. I found great stuff in the shoe racks for me. New athletic shoes and looked brand new. All was great except for the tech stuff. I wanted a bluetooth keyboard which I could pair with my phone or tablet. I got one. There was one sticker with the price on it. Kinda expensive seeing as when I tried it the keyboard keys did not work! That was a pretty expensive piece of garbage. I was instantly afraid I couldn't return it seeing as it wasn't something they checked. My thoughts were right, I wasn't allowed to return it. Seems when I inspected it a little more someone spilled something on it and it was not going to work anymore. Someone cleaned it pretty good but then it was sold for 8.99 here. Regardless I am deeply disappointed the store sold something like this. If it hadn't been me it would be someone else to waste their money. My mom needed something like it to learn how to type on a keyboard. I don't believe anybody wants to throw money away. I don't. Please beware that they might not check what they're selling you. Other thrift stores might check what they're selling, or you might check with them. I'm still holding on to it for the last 2 months. I don't feel good giving it away or donating it.
