The employees of Coast Dental - Stone Mountain made it the nicest and most helpful dentist's office I have ever been to. I had an impacted wisdom tooth that I had been ignoring for far too long, and when the pain finally got too much I called the Coast Dental - Morrow office to see if I could get in that day. They couldn't get me in, but referred me to the Stone Mountain office which had openings the next day and had the rotating oral surgeon in residence. When I got to the Stone Mountain office, I was really nervous about the price, as I didn't have health insurance. Not only did the dental assistant quote me prices, but she explained what each procedure was and why it was necessary. Then, she had me do the necessary xray first to be sure I needed the oral surgeon to take out the tooth rather than a dentist, because the oral surgeon costs more. Lastly, I can't say enough positive things about the oral surgeon, Dr. Harrison. She explained exactly what was going to happen to me, and then patiently explained it again when my mother came in asking questions. She explained before the surgery how I was to take care of it, and then retpeated it and wrote it down after she finished too. Throughout the surgery she verbally walked me through the steps she was taking, asking me how I was doing several times, and at one point stopped the procedure to give me more anesthesia when I looked to be in too much pain. I can't speak for the other Coast Dental locations, but the Stone Mountain location is doing everything right. read more

This practice is DISHONEST! I went there recently based on a coupon I got from their website that offered a deep cleaning for $540. I confirmed that they would honor the coupon, but when I got there for my treatment, the additional fees made the price double to $1,088. It's a scam. They use coupons to lure you in, then tell you that you need additional work. I was told I needed over $2000 for cavities that the 2 previous dentists I saw days prior for evaluation, didn't even detect. Then I wrote a long review on their website and it miraculously disappears. Get a 2nd, 3rd, opinion. They' remove recent bad reviews so as not to deter you. They only want your money and they always recommend a deep cleaning. read more

wow, I wish I had seen this 2 star review before getting involved with this place. they are the worst. I went in for an emergency crown replacement which they handled fine. But in the process, they decided I need a scaling. I've had a scaling before. They are useless. And expensive. So I try to sign up for a cleaning. No deal. Its scaling or nothing. Then, thanks to administrative error, my dental insurance got canceled. The $300 they quoted me ballooned to almost $700. And I had to call twice before that appointment to get that number. I went in for my annual cleaning, once I got my x-ray and the hygienist examined my teeth, I was told I needed a deep cleaning that could be done with two appointments (left/right sides) totaling almost 700$. No cleaning was done that day, I have to schedule again, basically I co-paid for X-rays. My insurance doesn't cover much for dental and I'm on a fixed disability income. I made my first appointment in July. My appointment was cancelled twice. Finally, when I received my appointment confirmation for Aug 30, I received texts suggesting that I return a text confirming it. I didn't because of being out of town and having work done at my house. I forgot because of being so busy. I called the office and spoke to a gentleman who told me that I was all good -- when I mentioned the nature of my call. "you're confirmed," he said. The next day, I received a text from Coast saying that my appointment was cancelled because I did not return a confirmation text. What? But I spoke to a live person and confirmed before the deadline. I have been a loyal customer/ patient for over 3 years and will say this WAS an exceptional office that provided exceptional service until NOW. The front office has absolutely no good customer service anymore and it's truly a nightmare now trying to set up any appointments. The young lady they have working there now has no knowledge of what she is doing at all. I made an appointment months in advance as I always did prior and the front office calls me to say that they now only have 1 dentist at this location to do all cleanings and the one dentist has to leave early on the day of my appointment. I advised due to my job & travel time I make most of my appointments in the afternoon between 12- 3pm. She kept attempting to reschedule me for 9am appts?? I asked for the manager and NEVER have I ever had to ask for a manager but I did unfortunately and she was just as rude if not worse. I had to put her on speakerphone so I could look at my phone and tell her what days I would be off for the next two months and she tells me that I am yelling and sets me on hold comes back to the line and says I'm yelling again??? I felt as if I had been on the phone with two toddlers that were prank calling me and laughing about it in my face. The sad part is this used to be a really good office and now it's straight TRASH. I called another location and they advised they have already heard about the unprofessional associates at this location and connected me with a corporate manager over that location who was also fully aware of the high turnover in this office. My advice is if you want to be treated like a respectable human being with decent service and have a RELIABLE DENTIST that truly cares about patients DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE ... RUN and do not walk to any other location. They are not knowledgeable about the billing and will have to reach out to the one young man that's been there for over 1 yr to answer questions about billing because they are clueless. It's pathetic the way they talk to the patients and please KNOW even if you confirm your appt you still will have to confirm your appointment the day before because the ONE dentist they have may leave early. It's the most DEPLORABLE SERVICE I have ever experienced at any doctor's office and makes no sense for employees to be so extremely insensitive to the elderly or any patients. I had a new bridge done in April, it did not fit right and the dentist shaved it down. Currently, I have a $2000+ left bridge that is rough, higher and jagged on the side by my jaw, scrapes my tongue and causes me to eat on the right side. The dentist that fitted my bridge has left the practice. Another dentist checked the bridge and said he would talk to his bosses regarding a new bridge. I have not heard from him either. Additionally, they said I needed a deep cleaning but there was no hygienist available until September. Once we resolve the ill fitting bridge, I am done, no cleaning or anything. This is an update because I want this in writing. I went in person and filled out a medical release form. I was told I should get something in 24 hours, I got a call saying they are missing some of my records ‍, I haven't heard from them since. It's been over 2 weeks. It's wild that they are even missing my records, but can I please get what you have?! I really need to know who I can report them to, I'm so disappointed with ever having used them. I think the staff is polite. But I have had nothing but issues with my treatment plan by the Orthodontist. I've gone to other dentists and periodontists and they are all confused at my treatment considering how long I've been treated here. One told me that I should leave, but I had already paid in full for my braces so I've been trying to work with the doctor, but I'm getting more and more frustrated. I am in the process of trying to go to another ortho, spend even MORE money and now I'm having issues with even getting the paperwork to do transfer. I wouldn't recommend them for orthodontist work as an adult. I can't speak on how well they do for children or adolescents. Also, when they respond to call them. It doesn't help. It takes FOREVER to get someone on the phone, and when you do, they don't really resolve your problem. First off I would like to say I am extremely shocked at the low ratings on here for this office. My visit personally was nothing but exceptional service and great care with a lot of information. I haven't seen a dentist since the pandemic started so I had a lot of anxiety about my appointment today. Everything about my was Pleasant. I was warmly greeted by the lady and the front desk. All my insurance information was provided when my appointment was made so I only had to sign a few consents online and I was quickly called to the back. The tech that did my x-rays was patient and informative. She recognized that I was very irritated due to me being soaking wet from the rain and assured me that my visit would be thorough yet prompt so that I could get home to get dry. Once my x-rays were completed I was walked to a clean, bright well lit exam room where I was greeted by the doctors assistant Shamika ( please forgive me if I spelled it wrong) . She introduced herself then made small talk with me to ease the anxiety of the visit seconds later the doctor walked in , Dr. Moody. She introduced herself to me before axing me what brought me in today. This was a plus for me because I have seen doctors who walk in and start working on you or talk to the assistant without speaking to me . I explain to her my concerns and she began her exam. Hands-down I truly enjoyed my visit . Customer service at his office is exceptional.. I went to work until all my coworkers about my experience. I needed a tooth removed and when I made my appointment I made that very clear my appointment was made for 11:30 I got to the office a little before 11:00 I wasn't called in until about 11:40 which is annoying since I made an appointment I had xrays done which I had a co pay for JUST TO NOT BE TREATED ! THE ORAL SURGEON WASNT IN & THE DOCTOR THAT WAS IN TOOK ONE LOOK AT MY TOOTH AND LET ME KNOW SHE COULDNT TAKE IT OUT . THIS VISIT WAS A WASTE OF TIME . Front desk staff are friendly and seem to be efficient. Nicole the Hygenist is also professional and very cordial. HOWEVER, Dr. Moody - the actual dentist - has proven to be short tempered, thin skinned and unprofessional. She's an older doctor and I chose to over look that because I respect seasoned citizens of all walks of life, and certainly those who are still practicing professionally. HOWEVER, you don't get to practice your temperamental and inpatient behavior on me and my mouth. I wouldn't allow or trust her to even fill a tiny cavity on me anymore. She told me that I needed to find a new dentist because I was being rude by stating that I shouldn't have had to drive all the way to the office to make an appointment. Coast Dental - General Dentistry Near Me - Stone Mountain, Georgia

The orthodontist who extracted my tooth was excellent so this is not about her skill and procedure. This is purely about Coast Dental Administrative/Financial Services/ Customer Service which is the worst system I have ever experienced. When I initially got the bill in the mail in January, I called the office several times, left messages with no responses and no way to send a follow up email. Finally, when I received another bill, I called the Main office and left a message and that was the third week of January. This is now the 5th of February and I am just getting a call back from the local office. I had a tooth extracted in September 2019 and I was told the costs would be $213.00. I received an additional bill for $157, totaling $370.00 which I am now told was the total costs of the procedure. The reason the total was $370 was because the insurance did not pay. Now first of all I had a dental discount plan not an insurance plan and that information was known upfront because of the $7.00 they charged me for the initial visit. So they did know it was a discount plan, however, they are claiming now, they did not have that information at the time of the procedure and only knew it when the insurance company came back saying I owed an additional $157 in addition to the $213.00. By the way my other dentist knew upfront I had a Senior Advantage Discount plan through Kaiser upfront because they checked before even quoting me any amounts for dental work. I know Coast Dental office staff had that information upfront and failed to inform me. As a Senior Citizen, I live on a limited budget. They have caused a financial impact on me because of their misrepresentation of the costs. If I had been told upfront the procedure was a total $370.00, I would not have used Coast Dental Services. The $213 fit within my budget so I chose Coast Dental. Had I known it was $370 total I would have used other Dental Services I had researched that fit in my budget. My only recourse is to pay $1.00 to $5.00 a month until this bill is paid, however, I now have a debt I cannot afford that occurred by their misrepresentation. My sister who has been trying for 1 year to resolve issues with Coast Dental, warned me about this Dental Service. Now I know what she was experiencing because I have experienced a similar hardship. They have lost a customer, patient and advocate for their services!!!! I hope if anyone is considering using any of the offices of Coast Dental Services, there is clarity about the costs upfront to avoid another hardship experience. Ase Amen read more

The staff at this location has always been very friendly and accommodating to me. They know me by name which is a nice touch. Today, I was welcomed when I entered the office by Deyuana. She knew I had an 11:30 appointment about a broken tooth. It didn't take long for Jasmine to call me back for my X-ray. Once she got the needed imagery, she took me back to the exam room. It just took a few minutes for Dr. Chang to come in and speak to me about my complicated medical history. She checked the broken tooth which had received a root canal previously. She said I would need to see the oral surgeon, Dr. Harrison, to have the root removed. Dr. Chang made the necessary referral and paperwork for my physician. Jasmine made my appointment for me before I left the exam room. She also gave me my paperwork before leading me up to Tammy to check out. Tammy has a gregarious personality like I do and is always a pleasure to banter with after my dental visits. The staff I interact with are always professional and polite. Coast dental Stone Mountain is the best. Everyone is friendly from the front desk staff to the hygienists to the dentist! I have been coming to this location over 5 years and I have never had any issue. Nicole is amazing and gives you all the tips you need after your cleaning to keep your smile pearly white. Dr. Moody although I read some reviews that call Her mean, I think she is an amazing dentist who knows her stuff and is straightforward. Unfortunately some people need a little babying when they are at the dentist and doctor and she's not that doctor. She is going to tell you want she's doing and what needs to be done. She going to do it and make sure your not in pain or in the least amount of pain possible and that's it, no babying. The positive vibe in the office definitely comes from Jaime, office manager. Well, this is very disappointing because I was in love with the staff here until I missed an appointment. The scheduler called at a time I was very ill and at work, which is why I missed, and as she was telling me about a missed appointment fee, I spoke over her to tell her "I'll pay it. No problem." She then went on to tell me about how she scheduled two appointment slots and I needed to pay for each of them. I received a call from a doctor and interrupted her to take it and came back to the line and instead of fighting, I accepted the fee. I explained to her that I had to go back to work. She replied "well, I know you need to go l, but I want you to understand what's happening." Then, she hung up on me, which means she kept me on the phone a few second longer so that she could be the one to end the call. Then, I called back when I had time which was 10 minutes later. I announced who I was and asked to speak with the same person. She put me on hold and then I was hung up on AGAIN. I called back and no answer. I posted a favorable review for this office in the past and spent a lot of money here. To run into this type of behavior is outrageous. And I still have no call back from my hang up and they knew exactly who I was. So it was no accident at all. read more

I have gone to Dr. Moody for many years, first at the Northlake location, and now at the Stone Mountain location. She is incredibly kind and does excellent work. She did my veneers, and I have gotten so many compliments on them! Dr. Moody has also done most of my crowns and root canals, and I have had no problems at all. One thing that I like is that she does her best not to run up a huge bill when you have a problem. For example, several times she said that many dentists would have recommended a crown, but that we could try a larger filling first and then do a crown if it failed. That worked almost every time and saved me a ton of money! The office staff are all SUPER nice and go above and beyond. For example, I recently needed a crown with a very quick turn around time because I was going out of the country. Robin obtained the crown from the out of state lab through heroic measures, and I appreciate it so much. At my first couple of visits at Coast Dental in 2004, I was surprised because the company has them do a treatment plan with costs that you sign before going ahead with the treatment. My first impression was that the company was all about money, but I came to see quickly that it is just so that there are no surprises, and you get the choice of whether to have a service rather than being tricked into it and then stuck with a huge bill at checkout. The front desk staff and manager are super helpful with calling your insurance to make sure you pay the minimum amount and with working with you to find a convenient appointment time. The staff always tries to squeeze you in the same day or the next day if you are having a dental emergency. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Moody and the entire staff at Coast Dental Stone Mountain. read more
