I was paying $180 with spectrum a few years ago to get what I'm now getting for $60. That is a 300% decrease in how much Internet and online service costs right now. I'm not sure exactly how spectrum is continuing to stay in business because their business model was one of constantly jacking up their prices. I am currently paying $60 and that price hasn't gone up for four years not even a dollar. I remember standing in front of the cashier at spectrum telling her that I wanted to discontinue my service and before I did that, I asked you if there was anyway they could reduce the cost of what I was being charged. She laughed.. What kind of week of this time I had better service better download speed and my costs and decreased by 300% wow. I know I would like to curse, but it's inappropriate in this setting.

I was a customer for 25 years of uninterrupted service when my Autopay got disconnected by accident. By the time I figured it out, they had disconnected us. I called to restart, but because I hadn't been away from their service for 31 days, they refuse to give me the rate anyone else pays when they restart services. Instead of $89.99, which is already a rip off for 100mbps service, they said it would be $129.99 per month and I would not be eligible for any promotions unless I wait 31 days. Then I would be considered a "new customer". So let me get this right. A customer who paid on time for 25 years is forced to pay the highest rate possible, while only new customers get a deal. This is what happens when monopoly corporations take over a market. Since there are no other options in SLO, we are stuck with the worst service and business practices ever. This is not how normal businesses do business, but because they have bought their way into a market, with no competition, they can be as dishonest as they want to be. Just wait. The day is coming where there will be internet service at a good price everywhere. When that happens, we will remember the charter name and never again buy from them. Ever.

Their new location is fancy and comes at the same time that they raised prices with out a good reason! They did tell me that their is a 10 day grace period on paying their bills which has not made my elderly clients feel any better at their lack of ha bing a drop box or setting up their billing cycle (mail it earlier) to accommodate those that wish to pay by mail! Finally I got to someone who could help, she explained that the operator I spoke with on the 8th turn off my Direct TV but did not close the account. This operator said it would take a couple days and would close on the 15th. Funny how that ended exactly on the closing date of the billing cycle. I was referred by a friend to Surfnet. A company I had never called because I didn't know they existed. Sure enough they could get clear line of sight to their towers and now I have an amazing internet service and it was $179 for the install and equipment I needed. And $79 a month for service. I can stream and all that with no worries. Thank you Surfnet. Installation looks clean and neat and the guys were polite and friendly. No more big satellite dish that cost way to much and really just sucked. My kids can game. We can stream movies. And we don't have to monitor every thing we do because we have unlimited data.

The worst customer service I have ever dealt with, and the second worst (after Hughes net) internet service provider for areas outside of cable service (spectrum). If you want reliable fast internet service for rural and semi-rural areas, try starlink or ranch wifi instead. Surfnet is horrible! And dishonest! After years of poor service and frequent service interruptions, I made the switch to starlink as soon as it was available. I've been trying to get an accurate final bill from Surfnet for over three months, with no luck. They just keep trying to bill me for $529 literally every two days (at 12:01 am) when all I owe is $140. I am not getting a correct final bill or even a call back or email despite dozens of attempts. It's beyond the pale. Run, don't walk away from them. It's only a matter of time before they fold and go bankrupt.

The internet and cell service compared to the Spectrum service I previously had isn't much different and getting the run around has been extremely frustrating. if you are looking to switch to AT&T I wouldn't expect a dramatic difference between them and other cellular providers. I would caution against going to this specific store for the fact that after 12+ months I haven't been able to get reliable information from them on my rebate that they promised during their sales pitch.

I took the new "little guy" and the tower of the old computer back to Cal Tech. Mason efficiently moved my data to the "little guy", and did so at a reasonable price. I have since then dealt with Ethan, Matt, and Brent, the owner, who answered the phone on a Saturday! All of them have been considerate and clear in their explanations. (These have since been discontinued because apparently they were a Bad Idea and failed with alarming regularity.) I did not know that prior to my visit to Caltec. They ran a bunch of tests, diagnosed the drive as the problem, removed the drive, tried to recover data, and were unable to do so. They pointed me at DriveSavers, made a few very helpful recommendations, and refused my efforts to compensate them "because they were unable to fix my problem."

The owner returned my call for a repair within two hours on a Sunday afternoon, scheduled the repair the next day.
