I pay for my ranch Wi-fi service every single month close to $100 a month and I have never had a month go by without horrible service. The service could go down for days at a time If you want a credit you have to call Well that means I'd be calling a couple times a month. So after dealing with this for months I am done I switched to Starlink and I am so happy. Dial up is faster. The biggest disaster of an internet company in the western usa for price per speed. Not even useable for basic home use during a 24 hr period. Half of my internet speed is gone at 5pm consistently and when you leave for a vacay and come back, forget it. It's reduced to a fifth of what we are paying for and you spend hours on the phone with them to only have a few weeks of medium results. No it's not the router. It's your wifi service co reselling your WiFi. Upgraded my service months ago to have slower service than previous plan. After hearing the support staff today when tech support thought they put me on hold: I highly recommend that other users review their rights and the basic laws of ca consumer protection. California offers several protections for internet consumers through laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the state's net neutrality law. The CCPA grants California residents the right to know what personal information companies collect, how it's used, and with whom it's shared. Consumers also have the right to request deletion of their data and to opt out of data sales. I have been a customer of Ranch WIFI for at least 15 years. It has been a steady and consistent provider. I recently had a service interruption that was very perplexing. Ranch WiFi has the best customer support I've experienced from any WiFi company. We had ranch WiFi for about a year and a half and never had any issues aside from our internet crashing on Super Bowl Sunday. I remember thinking there is no way this is going to get resolved before the game is over; however, I called customer support and I immediately was connected to a staff member who was able to fix the problem remotely in minutes. We recently canceled our service due to the price, and the price alone. When I called to cancel, the staff was so friendly and understanding. I really wish we could have kept ranch wifi. If we ever have any internet issues in the future, we will be going back to ranch wifi. read more

This is 1 star service. No doubt about it. I give them 2 stars because it's the only option for me, and their folks on the ground SEEM to TRY to care... I've been a customer now for several years, and I've heard every excuse in the book from these guys. I would say that in the last 3 years, I've had at most 1 month of quality service without any issues, yet they VERY RARELY ever actually admit to anything. When you write to them with a problem, they always make you feel like you're the only one having the problem... uh huh... I came to yelp curious tonight to verify that I'm not crazy. I'm not the only one who is having constant problems. It's good to know I'm not alone. I have a 15mbps plan, and every night my speed slows down to being almost unusable. I can't even stream music, let alone video. During the day, the connection is great! But as soon as people get home and start trying to stream, the connection goes to crap. I've attached a screenshot of my speedtest tonight, which is roughly average. I just did a speedtest to San Jose, and got 135ms ping time, and 2mbps down and up. San Jose should be a 15ms ping time, not 135! 2mbps is actually pretty decent, lately it's been less than 1mbps in the evening. read more

And if you don't meet the criteria, they pull existing equipment or try to upsell some ridiculous relay setup for thousands of dollars. Our "high speed internet" through AT&T Was marginal at best. But when it rained we had 0 internet. It has SUCKED FOR TOO LONG. To make a long story short...we live in a canyon. We live out in the country in Arroyo Grande. We were using another local company and found that their speeds just couldn't handle Netflix running, while both kids were on their tablets. We were constantly having to tell the kids to "go play outside".... which isn't a bad thing. I also noticed we were getting horrible connections in certain areas of the house like our bedroom. Since we got Ranch WiFi I haven't noticed any issues with Netflix. My work emails send super fast.... literally everything works faster with Ranch WiFi. read more

My husband and I love Ranch wi-fi. The internet might go out a couple of times during the year, due to the vineyard we get our signal from mIght have a rat chewing through a cable, or a plug might get unplugged. I call the ranch manager and or Ranch wi-fi and it gets taken care of just as quickly as they can get to it. The only other thing I can say about Ranch wi-fi is they seem to be short handed and might consider hiring an extra person. I'm not one to write a lot of reviews, however, I felt it warranted on this ocasion. When I look at a business for internet service, speed is not the only thing I look for. I recently had an issue with my internet service with ranch Wi-Fi and it was handled promptly and to my satisfaction. This was not the first-time I have called needing some sort of remedy with my internet service or equipment, we have a lot of wind at different times of the year that can cause issue. I'm my dealings with ranch Wi-Fi I have never been put off to voice mail, or put on hold for more than a minute, nor have I done away unsatisfied. When it comes to service and keeping their customers happy their technicians and manager make a grand effort to solve the problem and don't stop until it has been resolved. When we bought a ranch and moved out into the rural beauty of the Central California Coast, I hadn't thought about how we would access the Internet. We subscribed to a satellite television service, but couldn't get internet service at a useable speed. Happily, Ranch WiFi soon arrived, and we now enjoy consistent strong service. We have given up on our satellite television service, preferring the speed and quality of the internet access we get through Ranch WiFi. I have had Ranch WiFi in the past and I have to admit it did have it's problems. I have moved to a new location that is in the mountains east of Atascadero. They are the only ones that could do the job correctly. I tried Viasat and they didn't tell me that no matter what you pay you only get 480p(my tube TV from the 60s might be able to work). Needless to say I have learned my lesson. Ranch WiFi will do everything they can to bring you the best service they can. read more

I have had ranchwifi for a few years now and their service is not reliable to say the least. We have constant issues as they do not have the capacity to serve their customers. There are always excuses that a piece of equipment failed, and ALWAYS try to point the finger back at my equipment, and their first request us reboot the router. If I had another solution I would dump this company. I have requested to speak with the owner several times and of course I never get a call. The last time I was told he was in Tahiti for thanksgiving so he could not talk to me. What he can not send a simple email or respond upon his return. Bottom line is that this is a fly by night organization who does not know how to provided a reliable service. If the owner of this company can not call a customer back, clearly he does not care about his customers who are sending him to Tahiti. read more

I am 40 miles from the nearest city. I only have satellite or cell phone hot spot internet to choose from. Satellite internet was slow and data limited. I found Ranch Wifi and decided to try them out due to their unlimited data. I have had Ranch Wifi for about 2 years now. The installation price was expensive, but they let me make payments over a year. The speeds have been what I'm paying for and even higher. I have had my internet go down 3 times over the last 2 years. Twice was due to bad storms knocking the equipment out on my pole. The third time was due to an equipment failure. All three times it took them from 2-4 days to come out and replace or repair the problem. They never charge me for the repairs. I am able to reliably run many internet devices off my Ranch Wifi service including movie and audio streaming and remote security camera streaming. I am happy with their service overall and do recommend them to my friends. read more

I have been extremely happy with this service. I live way out in the boonies. They installed a new tower in our valley, and connected just about everyone with a view of the tower. The speed is enough to stream on my FireTV while streaming on my laptop, and playing a game on the phone. Price is reasonable when compared to HughesNet or Wildblue, which throttle your speed to unusable rates once you pass the cap. It is a small company, so support is not always immediately available. But when you do get a hold of them, they are much better than other companies. If you are on satellite, switch now. read more

The setup fee is awfully high!!! The dish is small, and the cable that runs from the dish to the house is about 10 to 15 feet. It takes the technician about 15 - 20 min to set it up, so I don't understand why they charge $300. The connection is pretty good. We've had the service now for about a year and haven't really had any problems. Just the occasional refresh is needed. I would give the connection/internet service 4 or 5 stars. read more

Absolutely the worst, most technically incompetent and support-challenged ISP we've ever encountered, and that's saying something. I've used dozens of ISPs in my professional and personal life, from 1990s dial-up and ISDN to 2014-era fiber optic... this company not only has no idea how to provide customer service, they have no idea how to provide Internet access! There's a saying in our home: "If it's the weekend, Ranch Wifi must be down!" We're trapped with no other options where we live and that makes it doubly exasperating because, at $150.00 a month (we have to pay extra for the static IP (whaa?) and 'up to '20 Mbps' (hah), it is robbery, plain and simple. The owner should be ashamed of himself and go into a business that's far less important to people's lives and work. Maybe a donut shop. At least the (slow, intermittent) wifi would be free! I write this from my phone and will upload it to Yelp via my cellular data because *drumroll*... Internet access is non-existent yet again- who knows for how long- the lazy, uninformed 'Tech Support' gnomes in Phoenix, AZ (no more local support, for what little THAT was worth) shouldn't be allowed near a High School AV room let alone a Tech Support phone line. Last month, service was down for THREE DAYS out of 30 and intermittent/slow the other 27. Ranch Wifi still has a handful of GREAT (local) employees from back in the day, when uptime was a given and once, when service went down at 10pm on Christmas Eve, I emailed one of the local techs and he personally drove to their tower and had it fixed in less than an hour. We miss those days. It must suck to work hard and have to run interference for a clueless Tech Bro with a terrible business ethic. But not as much as being his hostage, er... 'customer'. All the people I've come in contact with at Ranch are great. The customer service and response times have been 5 stars. Unfortunately the technology hasn't worked out for us here on the East side of Paso Robles. My two neighbors use Ranch and at least one of them says its great. It hasn't been great for me though. It's inconsistent especially during peak demand in the afternoons and definitely at night time. The folks at Ranch wifi have done their best by checking the install and tweaking on their end to try and help. It's just not as reliable as DSL running at half the speed and almost 1/2 the price of Ranch's 10 mb service. read more

I switched to Ranch Wifi over a year and a half ago. They were awesome... at first. However, especially in the last 6 weeks, outages have been frequent and longer. I pay for premium speeds and get poor performance for long periods of time with regularly complete outages. The techs on the phone are great but can't really resolve the problems - "unplug radio - unplug router - accelerate call to techs that work 8-to-5". This is becoming a very frustrating experience. I've repeatedly tried to be supportive on the tech phone line but in the end, it takes way too long to fix problems and way too many problems. Not a good value. read more
