Very happy with my overall experience with this team. Here is how the move went. They sent out an estimator who walked the property and checked everything out. We wanted a full pack and move for our 3b2ba condo so they recommended that someone come out to view it in order to get the most accurate cost. 2 days later we received a proposal of a not to exceed amount and decided to move forward. The move was spread out over 2 days due to having to pack everything and with our new house only a few miles away, they were able to break it up into 2 trips. The Move: Day 1 - 4 guys showed up right on time ready to rock and roll. We toured the house, they put down none slip runners and went to work. They ended up boxing everything in our old place, packing half of our stuff in the truck and unloading the truck at our new place. That night we unpacked everything and they took back the boxes the next day. They ended at around 4pm. It is important to note the packing boxes were free with the pack and move service. This includes all the packing paper! This saved us a bunch of money when comparing quotes. Day 2 - 3 man crew, which we did to save money, came and finished up all the loose ends. They were in and out pretty quick and ended at 330. Signed all the documents, paid the bill ( the agreed upon amount) and tipped the guys as they were awesome. Once the crazyiness of the move was over, here are a few things that I noticed. 99% of the place was packed. They left 2 cabinets (under the sink and in a bathroom) behind. They pack everything that is out, and not always by itself. We found a few items that had been stuff inside of furniture randomly and then other small glass items wrapped it tons of paper, some almost got thrown out, so just be very careful when unpacking. Lastly, they quoted our move and we're great sports about it. They didn't ask for more money, they complete the job and kept professional the entire time. I knew we got a good deal, as I got quotes from 4 other companies so I was sure to get all the guys lunch and tipped them both days. If you have a move and can effectively communicate when you want, 100% recommend using these movers. read more

I am in the Marines and dealt with countless moves, Mike and his team are some of the best packers and movers I've ever experienced. They were on time, professional, and organized. I had to pay for this particular move and Mike and Edgar really helped me save some money. Edgar worked with me for a fair cost. More importantly for me, Mike packed my house hold goods like a perfectly played game of Tetris. He was able to fit my items on one less vault than estimated. My parents used this company and their business practices are really strange. They make you sign a contract for a quote between $3000-$5000 to move your belongings. When they finished they obviously charged the $5000. Not sure why they give quotes. Here's some help on the way to charge people. Calculate distance to drive and things to move. It's pretty simple. At the moment my parents are filing a complaint regarding the business practice they currently operate. Also they give you the final price after delivering the belongings to the designated location. So if you don't pay them, they hold all your belongings hostage and don't unload them. Not sure if that is common practice in the specific industry but I've never heard of anything such as this. Strongly suggest exploring all options before choosing them. read more

We did a major remodel this year and I had Coast Valley pack up my kitchen and family room, living room and bathroom. They did an excellent job and stored everything for 3 months or so until we were ready to have them bring everything back. Again they did an excellent job unpacking everything. This company moved our belongings into our new home four years ago and our experience was very positive. We are now having some decorating done in our home consisting of new carpeting & wood flooring and needed some furniture moved to accommodate the flooring installers. Some pieces were extremely heavy. No problem for Mike & Andrew! DO NOT USE THEM!!! I have used this company twice now. This second time was THE WORST! First off let me start out by saying the day of the move they were suppose to be at my house at 9:00am, one of the guys called me at 9:45am to tell me that they were at my house and asked me where was I. Well, I was at home so clearly they were not at the right place. He confirmed my address with me and it was correct but they were somewhere else. That should have been my first hint. Next, they show up, 2 guys, one guy that seems like he can actually do the job and the other was the smallest guy I have ever seen at a moving company. I could without a doubt lift more than him. "They" get to work, and I put they in quotations because the little guy did nothing but stand around filling out papers and looking at the job he was suppose to be doing. What on earth is that?! The one guy did most of the work himself. We do not have very much stuff. We had sold most of our furniture prior to the move and I had packed everything myself. I have a toddler and FOUR hours into only loading the truck I had to leave to put her down for a nap. I was so uncomfortable leaving them with my stuff but had no choice. They ended up taking 8 hours to load my things and take them to their storage facility. I worried about our stuff the whole time it was in storage. As soon as we got our keys to our new place I arranged for them to drop our things off. I requested to not have the mover that was completely useless. They sent one of the same guys, the guy doing all the work and a new guy to our new house to unload our stuff. It took them 2 hours to unload. EXCUSE ME??? 8 hours to load and 2 to unload, ummmm NO. That is crazy! Especially since they are paid hourly!!! Now to add salt to the wound. When they went to disconnect our refrigerator they broke a knob that connected the ice maker and when I went to check on the house the next day to make sure we got everything I walked into a HUGE puddle of water!! WOW! I had my plumber come, repair the damage. Called the company only to have them deny responsibility and only reimburse one-fifth of the cost of damage. DO NOT USE THEM!!! You can definitely find better! I promise! read more

TL;DR: CVM was fast, efficient, careful and charged us as promised. CVM was absolutely the BEST part of our otherwise painful move. Our movers were Swift Jimmy and Big John. They were FANTASTIC. Not only were they fast, careful and efficient - they made the process fun. They even moved my 800LB safe without a hitch. Our move had many hurdles unrelated to the movers, including a 5 day storage period we were not expecting. Not only was the staff at CVM helpful and sympathetic to our situation, the owner Ken offered us a discount as a courtesy - and we didn't even have to ask. Our total cost was exactly what I had expected and was well below the not-to-exceed amount. Other things I appreciated: 1) The owner Ken visited our home on moving day and checked in on the crew and our project, 2) They recommended a 3 man crew for moving out and a 2 man crew for moving in. This was perfect, since the 3rd man was needed so 1 mover could organize the truck while the other 2 moved items. Reducing to a 2 man crew on move-in day saved us money and we still were able to finish within the minimum time. 3) The truck was large and well maintained. 4) They stored our things on THEIR private lot, not on a public street (other movers quoted street parking of our things!). 5) Their team answered the phone EVERY time I called and didn't give us any grief each time we postponed our move-in date - which we did *5* times. We also recommended CVM to friends a week later for an out of state move and they also had a great experience. Awful. I've moved 8 times in my life and these movers were the worst. They didn't secure the boxes in the truck, half the boxes were broken in transit. They were slow, they estimated the move would take 4 hours, it ended up taking 8 hours. Worst movers ever. read more

If you like being over charged and threatened these are your guys! I was quoted 5 hours charged for 11 hours. This was a small condo bedroom, one couch, bedroom set and office furniture and 17 boxes. They sat in the truck bringing in a load every 30 minutes. They do this because after 8 hours they charge overtime. I would go out to the truck and they would be sitting on boxes chatting. When I question the lead guy he stated "Hey lady this is hard work" and was threatening so I paid the ridiculous fees. I thought the office would help they laughed and never call me back! I used them for a move from San Clemente to Dana Point. The movers broke an expensive piece of furniture (looks like they dropped it). The movers never informed me of the damage, so I didn't see it until I was unpacking. I sent them pictures of the crack across the back of the cabinet and they offered me $150 for the item - when I had receipts showing the purchase of it at $2,500 18 months ago. I understand that accidents happen, but to not stand behind your company and take responsibility for a mistake - I cannot recommend this company and would never use them for a move. read more

We used CVM & S for a recent move from San Juan Capistrano to Boise ID. They agreed to pack the house up while we were driving and would ship the furniture and goods to arrive shortly after we did. Almost a month later, and they still have our household stored in their facility in Southern California. I give the lowest possible rating to this company. They baited me by quoting a reasonable price on the phone to move an ordinary piano, but doubled the price when I wasn't there (my realtor was supervising). I paid $400 to have these people move a baby grand 15 feet (for carpeting). They are demanding another $400 to move it back. They will double the crew and charge you $100 per person per hour, with an hour minimum. I have reported them to the California Department of Consumer Affairs. My advice is to avoid these bait and switch artists like the plague. read more

I did not have a good experience with these guys. The office manager and her staff are very good, responsive and customer oriented. But, I had a problem with my move, and it is pretty obvious the sales manager (Edgar) either was in over his head or something, as he really screwed up my move. I had to get the owner (Ken) involved, as Edgar lost his temper and was arguing with me, and Ken took no responsibility for what happened, and never even apologized. It is pretty clear that Edgar does not really understand how to take customer requirements and to convert them to a contract, nor does he seem to understand what information the trucking company needs. If you hire them, make sure you thoroughly review your contract, and ask questions. read more
