Got a discount for three hours, three guys show up and one of them is a teenager. There was one guy that was working really hard and the teenager did their best for being a teenager, but there was another guy that was just on his phone and kind of wasting time which was really annoying. My boyfriend decided to help them because we had a lot of stuff, it took way over the three hours, if my boyfriend had not helped them, it would've taken way longer. Missing a bunch of items, they didn't even fully unwrapped some of the furniture and left some of their moving blankets here. Tried to call and ask about the missing stuff never got a call back. My stuff is broken. My boyfriend tipped them a lot without my knowledge, and I wish he wouldn't have, but he was trying to be nice in the moment, but on further inspection, they didn't deserve it Definitely not going to use the surface again and definitely not going to recommend it to anyone, it wasn't cheap and they did a bad job. read more

Family owned business that I used when I was single several times and now twice since I've been married. They are responsible, punctual, honest, careful and quick. I have referred them to many of my friends, colleges and clients. They will come and give you an estimate and will (for a little more) even pack you up. They NEVER broke a thing. They move large furniture with ease and even hoisted a large Z gallery couch up and over a 2nd story balcony. Yes I was stressed but it worked out seamlessly. Clearly not their first rodeo. We used Zuni movers 3 years ago and they did a good job. We decided to use them again this year for our move. First, they confirmed the date & time in the email. A week before the move, I received a text from them saying they made a mistake in scheduling & can no longer move us on the agreed date & need to reschedule. We had a deadline & must move on the agreed date. I think they got a bigger job for that day so they didn't care about us & our schedule. This is no way to treat their customers, no matter how small our job is. (I had agreed to pay for their minimum 3 hrs. When we needed only 2 hrs). Luckily, I was able to find another company (Dana Point Moving Company) at the last minute who did a fabulous job. Beware of Zuni not upholding their end of the agreement! I was extremely stressed for weeks by trying to find a place in San Diego to move to from Oceanside. The place in Oside is completely upgraded , as in, appliances , lighting , electrical, washer , dryer, and 1200+ sqft of roomy living. I didn't want to vacate the condo, but I could no longer tolerate my lousy location of Oside. South San Diego location is the bomb! all kinds of places to ride the bike and walk for miles n miles n miles! Not in Oside. grrrr! Zuni Movers was recommended by my realtor. I had a wonderful experience with my realtor and trusted her recommendation. My experience with Zuni was not good from the start. This was a two part move. 90% of our contents were going into two storage units and the other 10% were going to an apartment at a later time for our temporary housing. The two stars given are for the guys who actually wrapped and packed my stuff. They did a decent job aside from crushing two big lampshades. I, myself, had packed our entire home. I am a very organized individual and even impressed the movers. Zuni movers were responsible for packing and wrapping big items like mirrors, lamps, big frames and any furniture that needed to be protected for storage. And this is how it went: on Saturday 6/22/24 a crew of 3 were supposed to show up at 8:30 AM to move the 90% of our contents to a storage facility in Irvine. At 11:03 AM I call the owner, Mayra, to ask her what is going on since nobody had showed up. She did not pick up the phone. I waited very impatiently until 12:54 PM and now decided to text Mayra if her crew was even going to show up at this point.... her response was "They will be there in 10 minutes" via text. They showed up about 30 minutes later with only TWO men, not the crew of three as I was told in my contract. I can not understand how someone operates their business with this VERY POOR communication. (FIVE hours late and no communication.) She eventually calls me frantically when the guys finally show up with all her excuses and even shows up herself speaking a mile a minute stressed and erratic behavior. I made it clear to her this is unacceptable business acumen. I told her that I am not paying the hourly rate quoted since only two men showed up and this is going to take a very long time which I am NOT happy about. She apologized for being 5 hours late with a bunch of lame excuses and said she would give us a discount for the apartment portion of our move that was five days later, which she did after I had to remind her of this. Upon opening the truck I noticed that the truck was not empty. The truck had somebody else's contents in the very front of the truck and that really worried me because I didn't want any of my contents being confused with anybody else's. I was already stressed with the 5 hour late start and now I have an additional concern. I was alone during this very big move to the storage units and did my best to micromanage the move. The clock was ticking, it was getting dark and I started moving my contents on the carts that were provided by my storage facility. I did not sign up for this! It was back breaking. The crew kept telling me "be careful, don't hurt yourself". They were as kind as can be, but I had no choice because we would have been in that parking lot until midnight had I not have helped. Needless to say, I was very disappointed how this was going, but grateful for these two men who worked so hard and hustled to get this job done so late in the day. It was getting dark by the time we finished the move and after paying the guys I asked them to check the truck one more time to make sure all of my belongings were off the truck and not to be confused by the other client's things in the front of the truck. They checked and came back with a couple of our yard chairs and apologized to me. I wish I had my glasses with me at the time because fast forward to April of 2025 while setting up our yard we are missing approximately $700 worth of patio items: umbrella, planters, outdoor rug etc. I texted Mayra about this and her reply was as messy as her business acumen. She tried blaming the trailer company that did the transfer of my belongings from the storage unit to our trailer, of course. I can assure you there was nothing left behind in the storage units since my entire family (all 7 of us) were present for the move out. Not to mention, the storage room manager approved our move- out upon leaving that day. Mayra's reply to me isn't surprising at all since she works in a very irresponsible and sloppy way. Her texts are not even legible. She takes days to reply. I am not sure if she is dictating into her phone or has a child replying back, but I have had to read her texts and try to interpret what she is saying as if I am communicating with someone speaking a different language. My most recent text to her was that I would like to file a claim for my losses. She has not replied nor has she read my text since she has a "send read receipts" tab on her settings. If I had to do this all over again, I would not have used Zuni movers because of the very poor communication and lack of accountability. The two stars are for the crew that worked very hard and did a very decent job protecting my furniture. You were contacted in Oct, of 2024 the week my trailer was delivered. We only needed one truck so the other one just sat there. I gave a 2k deposit. After they loaded the truck I was charged a little more than 1400. I figured that was it. Then when they unloaded the truck they handed me a bill for another 1900. Maybe she doesn't know how to do math but that is 5400. Absolutely nowhere near the 3500-3800 I was quoted. I hired Zuni Movers to move both my home and business simultaneously within a two-day time frame. There were two trucks and 5 workers, including the move manager Stephanie, who ensured that everything ran smoothly and on time. Communications between each other and with me were efficient and detailed, and as a result nothing was damaged, including the home/new location. Not only were they moving personal items and furniture, we had sensitive equipment that required highly professional handling and a separate truck. Zuni owns their trucks, which gives them flexibility in the number of trucks and timing between pickup and delivery. This was critical for us, as it accommodated time-sensitive preparation of the new space. As a bonus, they will dispose of any unwanted items or materials free of charge. This is a big deal, if like me you have used up your bulk removal allotment with waste management or cannot manage large items. Zuni re-uses boxes and provides temporary crates for local transport, which reduces cost and waste. They will also donate any furnishings or items that are of good quality. Honestly ...., we were a pain in the ass to deal with because our new home kept being delayed, but Mary has the patience of a saint! How she didn't just block my number the amount of times I have to call and change our plans repeatedly. They moved heaven and earth to help us and I'm eternally grateful. Even down to things like, removing a flat headstone honoring my late grandparents who are buried 5000 miles away from me, and taking all my GIANT plant pots to my neighbors for safe keeping during the move. No job was too big, no job too small. I even offered them free reign over taking water and candy from my fridge during the day, but each time they still asked for permission. I was so impressed by their integrity. I've read a few reviews, most of which I cannot even understand as they were so far from what happened to me. Always communicate with the movers, they are humans who are here to help, have an open dialog as the day goes, regarding speed, needs and expectations. My 22-year-old daughter hired Zuni movers services on March 19. They were paid by her father and I hired my housekeeper to assist my daughter with the move for 3 days (March 18-20). On March 25, my housekeeper tells me how Zuni movers broke my daughter's coffee table. I spoke with my daughter and asked her about the broken table. Kaylee said, yes. I told her she needs to let Mayra, the owner of Zuni movers, know because they should replace her table. I told her to take a picture of the table. The next day she said she couldn't find the table and found out that her fiancé included it with the rest of the items he took to the dump. So I sent Mayra a text on March 27, the text is attached, Mayra never responded. I bring it up to Kaylee and asked if she contacted Mayra and she says "no mom i've been busy organizing the house." My housekeeper Angelica brings it up to me a couple days later and I said "why don't you go ahead and send Mayra a text I'm walking out the door." Angelica sends Mayra a text and once again no response. Five days go by and I call the office before more time goes by. Mayra's secretary, Mary, answers the phone. I said hi Mary this is Irma. I'm calling regarding the move on Berkshire Drive in San Juan Capistrano a couple weeks ago. Your employees broke my daughters coffee table. Mary asks "do you have a picture" and I said "no , all I have is a picture of what the table looks like on the Internet. Kaylee noticed the men broke it when they had a scared look on their face." I said to Mary "they were probably scared of what their boss is going to do to them when she finds out." We both laughed and Mary says to send her an email of the picture and I'll talk to Mayra. End of conversation. Later that day, I get a call from my daughter saying that Mayra called her dad and says I am harassing Mary, her secretary. WTH? TOTAL LIE!! The conversation ends with my daughter and I arguing, geez thanks Mayra.. I call the office to speak with Mary, no answer, I called back no answer and I leave a message for Mary. Of course, I will not hear back from them. But I get an email about a minute after I left a voice message saying the contract says they do not replace particle board furniture and that they will deal with Rick. Today Kaylee told me that Mayra said she will send a check for $50. The moment there was a problem the professionalism went out the window. My voice was unheard. This is the first time we have an issue after hiring them five times. First of all they were hired to move furniture, they were not hired to break anything. We used Zuni recently and they were recommended by our realtor. We did not have a good experience with them at all. We paid in advance, scheduled the slot at 8:30am to come do our move. They seemed so unorganized and probably overbooked themselves. They kept pushing our time every few hours and finally showed up 8 hours later. This seemed very unprofessional and the woman on the phone kept lying to us. The movers themself we're fine, it's just frustrating that my uncle had taken the day off work to handle this move, he's a single dad with two children trying to juggle it all. 1.) Every aspect of this move was poorly coordinated and executed with little to no communication. Mayra told us we'd pack on Wednesday and move on Thursday. Instead, her guys showed up with a small truck and announced they are doing the move in two half days. We had to scramble to get into the new house so the men could have access. Moreover they hadn't been briefed in ANY fashion. They had to call me for the gate code when I'd already given it to Mary. They asked me where our boxes were even though I'd clearly told Mayra I wanted a FULL pack with Zuni supplying used boxes for a discount. Her guys didn't know they were supposed to pack us! 2.) Once packing was underway, I noticed that they were not labeling the boxes. I asked them numerous times to do so. They still did not. It took us days to find various important items since the boxes were not labeled. There's about 10 boxes just labeled "Closet." 3.) The designated foreman, Henry, took zero leadership. Didn't communicate with me at all or with the team. I was forced to stop my work and serve as Mayra's foreman since the team was so uncoordinated. They'd pack haphazardly part of this room, part of the next. Dumped things in boxes without wrapping them. Put things in the wrong rooms once here--guest bed in master bed, office boxes in garage, etc. Had frozen items from the freezer melting in an unlabeled box. Have I mentioned they didn't label? It was an utter debacle. Was it their first move? 4.) I called the Zuni office numerous times to talk to Mayra about my concerns. The coordinator, Mary, said she'd call me to discuss; she did not, nor were my concerns addressed in any fashion. 5.) I'd told Mayra that we wanted a full service pack and move and that we didn't want to have to do anything--this was a huge work week for both of us. Instead, I was forced to manage Mayra's team for two days straight and my boyfriend and I packed eight car loads in total and moved them ourselves as we were so concerned by the team's slow progress and lack of care with our items. My back is still sore! 6.) Once we started unpacking (btw, I sent a good ¾ of the previously used boxes back with Mayra's team where they can be used again, so I was shocked to see such a high supplies fee on the invoice!), we found numerous broken or damaged items. When I started to tell Mayra this on a subsequent call, she interrupted me several times to say that it wasn't possible because she were there (she stopped by briefly for 5 minutes on one of the days and that was it). 7.) A bookshelf was left at the old house even though I TWICE asked the men to move it. We had to go back over and move it ourselves. 8.) We sustained multiple documented damages due to poor packing, handling and moving, plus badly stained carpets at old house (they didn't put down any plastic and the hallway carpet is ruined!), bad ink stains on kitchen counters in old house, etc. 9.) Mayra not only charged us MORE than the NOT TO EXCEED estimate, but refused to honor the $500 discount she promised us for letting her guys pack us in used boxes and for us hand carrying our own valuables and letting her team just tape drawers shut and not do a thorough pack. 10.) Moreover, I told her team when they left that I did not approve the charges as I had already found damages and wasn't even nearly unpacked, and because there were so many issues with the move, and because I hadn't had an opportunity to walk through the old house yet. Henry stated that you would call me to discuss the charge before putting it through. Mayra did not. 11.) When I called Mayra the next day, she refused to listen to me over the phone. Business owner to business owner, when a customer calls you and says there were problems and damages, you ask what they were and you LISTEN instead of talking over the customer continually, losing your temper, and contradicting her/him at every turn. Hugely unprofessional. 12.) I wrote Mayra a letter outlining the issues above, since she refused to discuss it professionally via phone. I asked her to do the right thing and honor her promised discount and take care of the damages. She refused. I told her I'd have to dispute the amount with our credit card company if we weren't able to come to a resolution. She wrote back that she was "finished." 13.) After we'd given Mayra numerous chances to do the right thing and come to a peaceful resolution, we followed through on disputing the partial amount with our credit card company, Mayra then called my boyfriend and left a bizarrely libelous and harassing long, rambling and incoherent voicemail blaming me, stating that "This is a really, really, really bad what she did, and I can't believe you left her get away with this." She then went on to state that I was angry at life and taking things out on her guys. Ending with, "This is really, really bad, and bad karma for you guys." Just had the most amazing experience with this team! Far from under staffed, very efficient and the crew was incredibly sweet the whole way through. I've never had a moving crew be so respectful with my belongings! They're experts at padding. They showed up right on the dot and made every moment of packing/unpacking count. Today, July 23, 2023, my husband, John, and I are celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. Together, we were very happily married to two beautiful souls for nearly a century, but sadly lost them the same year, in 2019. Miraculously, we met online through a grief group--even though we lived over 400 miles apart. Our relationship was a lot like the movie, "You've Got Mail," corresponding everyday through email and FaceTime. We are writing this review on this special day, because we are very happy and so very blessed in large part because of Zuni Movers. The owner, Myra, and her assistant, Mary, personally "walked" through Jack's 2,300 square foot home with us and then sent Karla (an amazingly talented, intelligent, and compassionate young woman) to meet with us. Zuni gave us a very fair price, which included packing, labor, and all packing materials. We were amazed by Karla who oversaw the moving team and by the great care they all took in protecting our furniture and keepsakes as if they were their own. We were especially concerned about the 7' grandmother clock Jack's father had made; we even purchased extra insurance. However, we could have saved that money. Everything, including that precious clock, arrived without a single scratch. We had absolutely no damage to anything--everything arrived in perfect condition! The team packed everything so well, loaded the truck like a jigsaw puzzle (taking advantage of every square inch), that nothing moved around during the 400-mile journey. After arriving in northern Nevada, they unloaded the truck and even helped unpack many of the boxes. Karla helped set up our kitchen and put away many of our dishes. Originally, I was not going to post a review, however I would NEVER want someone to go through the ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE this company/movers cost me. Mary was great aside to not feeling like she was genuinely going to do anything about my complaints, nor did she follow-up so I have decided to post. I had a good feeling initially about the company having been referred by someone and how personable Mary was. Cliff Notes Version: 1) Called when they were late 20 times between the time they were supposed to arrive and someone actually answering/getting back to me. Thank GOD Mary happened to check the vm and contacted me that they were going to be late, but not too late. 2) MOVING CREW HAD MY # THE WHOLE TIME AND DID NOT HAVE THE COURTESY TO LET ME KNOW THEY WERE RUNNING LATE WHICH ACTUALLY WAS 2 HOURS LATE!!! 3) I still tipped them well (even though I should not have) as they took no accountability or offered an explanation why they did not at least text me to both inform me and provide me an ETA. 4) I do not have a lot of stuff, moved almost ALL of it to the curb for them, they still ran over by 1 hour for extra charge, they in no way hustled, 1 pretended he didn't know English so he didn't have to deal with me, the list goes on and on. I haven't moved in 8 years, have horrible anxiety and PTSD and all they caused me was an anxiety attack and dent in the wallet. Do yourself a favor and hard pass. read more

Beware if you hire. Tips for success when working with them if you do: 1. Only hire 3 people - they work no faster and many times just sat around. 2. Manage strictly - they will not work if you don't tell them, you have to manage them because they want to be slow to get more money. 3. itemized supplies - Ask for a detailed supply list because they will just go ahead and charge the max regardless of supplies used. 4. Get multiple bids other than this one. My experience Working with Zuni to move me from a upstairs 3 bedroom unit to a two story home. After talking with the reps at Zuni, I talked through the option of having 4 movers and reduction of moving time or 3 movers and increased time. That is the exchange, time vs people. I decided to go with 4 movers. The contract detailed that there is a 4 hour minimum with a 8 hour max before a higher rate started. My thoughts are that there is no incentive for the movers to work any faster than they have to and these movers were doing just that, waiting out the clock. During the move the 4 people lead by Luis Gilmer & Jason Melvin, (by the way, request other movers) did not seem to make the move any faster. They had 3 dollies with them to move boxes and items yet did not use any but instead choose to hand carry to take more time. In between the slow performance of the movers and lack of efficiency with their time, which many times I found that all 4 would be helping to move items that would only take two, it took way longer than it should have and cost me a tremendous about more in cost. The goal was to have 2 teams of 2. This was not the case, instead it was 1 team of 4. Inexperience and just lack of hustle took a job that was scoped for 4 hours to 7.5 hours and that was with me helping along the way. In addition, the team was disrespectful to me and my wife during the move and repeatedly seemed to be slurring us in Spanish as if I didn't know what they were saying. Once the work was completed, I was given the invoice that included a charge for supplies of $150. Nothing was detailed and I was forced to sign before they would stop the clock. This forced me to sign and upon signing I mentioned that I would be contacting the office in regards to the charges. After calling, I was told that the movers charged the $150 for 3 rolls of shrink wrap and a couple of rolls of tape. Looking online, I found that these items retail would cost around $50, much less than what was charged. When asking to only be charged a reasonable cost for the supplies used, they said that I had already signed and nothing could be done. I had to call multiple times to even get that far and still nothing to show for my efforts. In the end, beware of any mover but expressly Zuni. They waste time to get the most of the contract, over charge for supplies, and poor customer service if you have issues after the fact. Good luck to you in your move read more

There are not enough characters in this review for me to explain the atrocity of an experience this was for me and my family. This company has 71 reviews of which 50 are 3 stars or below. I wish I had sought Yelp reviews prior to the referral from a friend. This same friend never used this company, but heard decent things about them and we were in a pinch to move which they accommodated. I would give them a star for the accommodation, but that's about it. Oh, don't want to forget Mary who was very kind and amicable, but bless her heart for having to work for this witch. They damaged our property in excess of $5,000. She became combative, aggressive, defensive and offensive when I mentioned the damage to one of our items. Her foreman Henry and team cannot coherently communicate and they are dishonest and will milk the clock if you are not watching them. White glove experience; don't buy it. They have no regard for your items or your home. Did not honor payment terms and overall communication was a farce. BUYER BEWARE. This person will tell you whatever you want to hear in order to secure your business, don't fall for it. There is a reason moving companies get a bad wrap and it's people like Mayra that put a tarnish on a reputable profession. She had me "served" by one of her minions Ivanna who under the penalty of perjury stated that she physically served us. A flat out lie in which our video surveillance shows no one at our home nor would they be able to enter our property without trespassing due to our child locks on our gate. Luckily Mayra likes to talk and just this past week I discovered that I was being sued by her so I immediately did a name search to discover that she falsified legally serving us with a court order and now I was about to default on a court appearance without proper notice. So I gathered all of the evidence, photos, witness statement, receipts, text correspondence and packaged it up. I spoke with the courts several times to get a better understanding of my rights and what I could do to protect myself from this false accusation. I showed up in court and was prepared to rightfully represent myself. This lady knows her way around the courtroom and is one of those sue happy people. She had the audacity to play the poor single mother Latina card. She cried out for respect and honesty, but when there are 50 reviews of discontent I think the proof is in the pudding. I was not given adequate or fair time to prepare for this hearing and I was not able to countersue based on the nature of the timing, but guess what Mayra, be prepared because a countersuit is on it's way, not out of spite, but out of principle. In a very stressful time, Zuni Movers came through for me. I literally had days to find a new place, pack and move...albeit due to my own procrastination. The owner and her team were fantastic and were very accommodating. I asked them to shift gears on several occasions and they did so without a hitch. They arrived and packed up in no time, moved me to the new place, and then proceeded to move everything up 3 flights of stairs....OUCH!! Not a single item was damaged, very very impressive. Zuni movers are reliable, professional and reasonably priced. Mary was flexible with my timing and accommodated me with several changes. The main difference that made my move less stressful was Carla. From start to finish, she was calm, reliable and in control of the whole process. She led the team to pack our house up, move and unpack. she's very careful and adds a much needed feminine touch of poise, calmness, care and control to what is supposed to be a hectic stressful process.
