    Chicken biscuit.

Cute place. Pastries and desserts are good but definitely pricey for what you get. Got the breakfast chicken sandwich-not worth it. It's about $9+ wasn't expecting a chicken patty. The muffins were good the smith island cake is okay a bit dry.

What a wonderful shop! I've been inside before to buy a quick cookie or take a small snack, but this time we had a lovely lunch here about half an hour before closing. We spoke to the friendly owner I believe behind the counter and she was happy to make recommendations or answer our questions about the sandwiches and lunch entrees they offer. Everything looked good and we were absolutely starving - they have a large range of delicious items to include Shrimp and Grits, soups, sandwiches, and other items. I chose the everything turkey sandwich which was HUGE and loaded with cheese and meat. Very good and very filling. The everything croissant was fresh and tasty. My husband chose the pastrami sandwich which was equally huge and generous portions of meat. Sides were homemade pasta salad and potato salad, both delicious. There is a small shop inside where you can browse wares and some household items and food items are for sale. There are a number of small patio tables and a few larger tables for 3-5 with umbrellas all outside. We got a chocolate chunk cookie and a soda and I had an iced chai tea. SO good. The owner said her husband was from India so the chai was legit and she was right. I have actually had chai in India and this tasted just like it! The cookie was fresh and moist and loaded with chunks of chocolate. Just like my husband loves them. Note: The kitchen closes 10 minutes before 3 - they close at 3. To halt any last-minute orders while they're cleaning up for the day. We will absolutely be back - this is a gem. Great, friendly and welcoming service, wonderful food, and a large lunch/brunch menu.

Found this little bakery on our roadtrip up the eastern shore. Cute little cafe. Food was delicious and cold brew was perfect. The employee that helped us was very nice and welcoming. Only issue was the cafe does not have a public restroom which oddly several other businesses on Main Street did not have public restrooms either. Also there is no inside seating so be prepared to eat outside or togo.

First time exploring Cape Charles and I was craving something sweet! I stumbled upon Coastal Baking on a whim and was absolutely delighted. I ended up getting crumb cake, Reese's cookie,a cupcake and a latte to share with my family! The coffee was a raspberry white chocolate and was absolutely delicious! The unexpected star of the show was the crumb cake! This cake was huge and very moist! There was an unexpected raspberry flavor in the layers that tied the whole dessert together. This was without a doubt the best crumb cake I've ever had!!

Cute little store, no restroom. They have coffee and local desserts. This is right in Cape Charles. If you blink you'll miss it. The service was ok, it seemed like younger highschool or college kids was working as the staff. Not too overly excited about their jobs. But not rude. I like all the options of Baltimore and New Orleans goodies. I bought an Old Bay kitchen towel. If you're in the area for a few days, cute spot to stop by.

We ordered the cinnamon roll, Smith Island cake (chocolate and coconut), a strawberry cream cheese roll, and a chicken biscuit sandwich. The chocolate Smith Island cake was very good. Great flavor and chocolate taste. The service was ready and handled the line that was out the door quickly. The inside was nice and clean and inviting. Worth trying when in Cape Charles.

If you want sweets and coffee, this is the bakery to visit. We stopped in and ordered up a variety of cookies--my favorite was the toffee cookie. We also got coffee, including lattes. The staff was friendly and they had some lovely tables to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. The inside was cute as well, and they had a small store to purchase gourmet items. While we were there, we saw family after family come in to purchase all kinds of goodies, so clearly it's a hit with kids.

This bakery is right by the beach in Cape Charles. I've only been once (so far) but their bakery items are SO good! I got 4 different things when I went and each item was delicious, I'd order all of them again. The guy working that day was very nice and helpful. This is a place I'll absolutely return to as often as I can!

Not a lot was open in this town, but this bakery seemed a core business. One could walk inside and look at the wares before buying and eating either on tables outside or elsewhere in town. I sampled a Smith Island cake; a strange thing to get in Virginia instead of Maryland, but nonetheless relatively a local item. It was about what you would expect from the look of it, the icing combining with the cake in every bite. The white chocolate raspberry scone that I tried was actually a more interesting flavor combination and made for an excellent breakfast. They had lunch as well and a fairly exciting selection of regional potato chip flavors, but my needs has been filled. It wasn't a huge selection, and the cake was a bit pricey, but I was glad I found this place open.

Stopped here for lunch on a long car ride and I think it's a great pick! Lots of meat on the sandwiches, if you're into that, and great fresh bread. However, I wish that the slices of bread were large enough for my meat and toppings. Top piece was very small and made it unwieldy to manage. Don't have a picture, but the everything Turkey and cranberry chicken salad looked amazing. If I went back, I would probably also get something from their vast bakery selection. Unfortunately there is no bathroom available for the customers.

I loved Coastal Baking so much, that had I had more time on my family wedding trip, I would have come here every single day. This place is a coastal bakehouse dream. Not only do they serve coffee and pastries, but delicious lunch and sandwich options that rival most of the other lunch spots in town. Lunch is a hard thing to find in this tiny town, and while you might not necessarily think to visit Coastal Baking, it should truly be at the top of your list. I wish we would've known that sooner! From the coffee menu, I recommend ordering the cold brew with a shot of vanilla. This cold brew was so delicious. It wasn't overly bitter and pungent with a sour taste. It was understated but still tasty. Paired with a croissant, it was just a perfect duo for a sunny afternoon. Zip over on your golf cart and grab something! The atmosphere outside and inside is pure joy. My favorite businesses are the ones that put thought into their ambiance to really curate an experience. The vibe is welcoming, beautiful and photo worthy. In the back of the cafe, there's a small market of local goods to peruse. You can also eat out on their lovely patio, which is perfection on a sunny day. I can't say enough great things about this fabulous local spot.

One word - amazing! I loved everything about this place and can't wait to go back. I got an almond croissant and coconut smith cake and both were phenomenal. My husband got biscuits and gravy and blueberry muffin and said they both were to die for. Everything there looked so tasty and I wish I could've eaten everything but alas I will have to return to try more!

This was comfort in a bowl! The robust flavor of Guinness melded perfectly with the caramelized onions, and the bubbling gruyère on the toasted bread points just took it over the top. It was savory, rich, and perfect for the chilly day. My friend went for the She Crab Soup, and couldn't stop raving about it. Creamy and absolutely packed with local crab meat. The puffed oyster crackers and a sprinkle of Old Bay were the ultimate finishing touch. I managed to sneak a bite, and it was heavenly! We also asked the bartender for a fun cocktail, and they whipped up a bright, lemony drink that was as refreshing as it was beautiful. It was perfectly balanced and not too sweet, served with a citrus twist. Service was great. Friendly, attentive without hovering, and happy to make recommendations. I was also a fan of the thinly sliced French fries. I got a lemon square to eat after my sandwich, and it was also so good that I grabbed a slice of rainbow cake to go.
