My sister and I didn't have to wait long at all. Every one behind the booth was working hard to make sure we were all taken care of quickly and with courtesy. It seemed like a family affair and I love seeing more entrepreneurial Filipino families sharing their take on Filipino food. The flavor of the wings and sisig were delicious; I inhaled them really. My only thing was I wish there was a little more sisig and a little less onions in the tacos. But, I have a hearty appetite, so this might just be me. Otherwise, I really like what they're doing and will be back for more wings and sisig. They are definitely worth checking out. Look forward to seeing what they come up with next!

I visited for a Mindful Mornings event on a rainy November morning. Nearby metered street parking was easy to grab. For this event the space was set up for a presentation. A large projector screen was displayed in the front of the room. Small tables were set up on the side featuring some caffeine and sweets from local businesses who partnered for this event. There was ample seating around the room. The signs on the wall could be quickly changed to accommodate a menu or just an inspirational quote or message to fit the theme of the space. In the back of the room there was a full professional kitchen ready for some of the area's culinary talent to make magic happen. From their website "Created and sponsored by Grow. ENJOY: is a 501(c)(3), with a mission to raise funds for local, culturally-focused charities through unique creative experiences." I am so excited that this space exists and I will be actively keeping an eye out for unique local experiences in this space.

Voodoo Pies is a pop-up shop with a unique concept crossing Creole cuisine with meat pies, and I…read moremust say I'm a fan. On their menu you can get a meat pie filled with gumbo, split andouille sausage, roast beef with onion and collards, roasted squash or catfish. With a meatpie you can get a side of creole potatoes or red beans and rice. I must say that these pies do sellout quickly when they do a pop up, when I went to O'Connors brewery to try them out they were sold out of several options. I wanted a sausage pie with potatos, but I had to settle for a catfish pie with red beans and rice. The pie was nice and flakey and filled with meat which I appreciated, by no means were they skimpy the mean. It tasted delicious paired with their chipotle aïoli. I will say that the red beans and rice were a tad underseasoned for my taste. Another suggestion for improvement would be to develop a way to keep the pies heated, but not have them dry out as the day moves on, which I understand may be a challenge. Overall I am quite smitten with the concept of Voodoo Pies and I can't wait to catch them again at another pop-up to try what I wanted, and to see how they develop in the future. I encourage to find out where they will be next and try a Voodoo Pie for yourself.

Before entering I noticed a Sign on the door warning about the delay due to short staffing in the kitchen. I appreciated the transparency and with no timing restrictions decided to proceed. The menu has a good variety of food and beverage options. They even have mocktails and can make any mimosa (flavor) non-alcoholic. For breakfast I opted for coffee (free refills), and the Chicken and Waffles, specifically the Life's a Peach option. Coffee was good, not too strong, not too weak! The meal was also good, think peach cobbler, with chicken. The waffle was thick and soft. The chicken was lightly seasoned and crispy. The peaches were on top of the chicken, but I think on top of the waffles would have been a better call (so I reconfigured things myself). Half way through eating I noticed the candied pecans were missing so I asked my waitress because I was interested in trying them with the dish. She noted that they didn't have them and haven't been able to get any for over a week. While I would have ordered the dish anyway, it would have been nice to be told upfront. Another downside of the meal was the third chicken tender was all batter, I didn't see a bit of meat in there. Check out the picture and let me know if you see it. Anyway, while the hostess - first interaction with the business - wasn't very warm, I found everyone else I interacted with to be very hospitable. There was so much served it took me three meals to finish the whole plate. Unfortunately, the garlic naan was underwhelming. When we received the order, it was hard to chew and the garlic taste wasn't strong. Usually, naan is soft when served, but not this time. Despite the naan disappointment, both of us walked away full.
