I think this is a very nice place to stay in Morro Bay. I got in late. The phone number was in big font on the door. I called. My key was in a lockbox. The person on the phone was very pleasant. The room was a nice surprise. One king bed in a big clean room. And it's pet friendly. Thank you! It's not 5 star for the hoity toity but it was perfect for me. Location can't be beat. Not sure why this Motel has such a low rating, I just had a great experience. I just stayed one night in room 204 on 2/22/25, I checked in with my wife and her service dog, the office manager welcomed us with a smile in a very upbeat professional manner. We had a little glitch with our room key, but he fixed it 30 seconds no problem. The king room was very spacious and comfortable with a full pull-out couch if needed, and a little table and chairs to enjoy some takeout food which we did. I am not a fan of carpet, but it was clean, and the fridge and microwave came in very handy for some cold drinks and snacks. We booked through booking.com and the office manager actually called us around 2pm to let us know the room was ready to check in. The location is great and right down the road from all kinds of restaurants, music venue and even a farmers market every Saturday. We take little staycation trips to Morrow Bay all the time and we will definitely return to the Costal Breeze. No pool or jacuzzi, but for the price it's just right. read more

Pillows are super lumpy and hard to sleep on, The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors and everyone parking in the parking lot. The screen door was broken and busted. The smell of the room was like smoky. The base of the bed is cheap hollow metal so every time you get off or on you hear it denting. The shower is really small like 3.5 ft x 3.5 ft. I would not recommend I wish I stayed at a Marriot instead. read more

Unfortunately I was so disappointed with the new owners, first,, they charged me for my service dog, federal law/ADA title Il and title lll states they violated my rights. Second,, the room next to us played loud music (I'm not opposed to ZZ Top and steel guitar) unless it keeps me awake ALL night! I called the owners at 10:30 pm and he said he would handle it , and he didn't,,it continued until 6:30 am picture shows the decimal of noise . I have stayed at the hotel in the past(different owners back then and never had an issue) Hopefully they read this and give me my money back for the first night of no sleep and the service dog charge they are legally not supposed to charge. read more

The room is clean, the people at the front desk were very kind, the location is great, and it's no frills.. simple.. so if you're into that like I am, this place is perfect for you! It's a great place to sleep for a weekender trip. The price is also very reasonable and a good value for what you get! It's not too obnoxiously modern and has a subtle charm to it. A good disclaimer is that they don't allow pets, so for anyone looking to bring their pups, you should probably look elsewhere. The upside of this is that, as a person who has some temperamental allergies, I didn't feel like the air had any sort of dog dander or even dirt or sand! I rate this place five stars because I like to be fair with my reviews and this place has a lot of the bare essentials perfectly done! For all you travelers, keep scrolling and look for another place to stay in Morro Bay. My son and I are 805 locals and booked a room for one night while his house was being worked on. In a town where everyone knows each other, I can't believe a local business would treat guests as badly as they did. From the get go, the middle aged gentleman was very rude and condescending to my son when we checked in. We let it go, and went to our room, unpacked and headed out for dinner and then his house to close up for the night. When we arrived at our room around 11 pm, we could hear loud music playing and a lady arguing on the phone next door. We heard our shared room door knob rattle a few times, as if she was checking to see if she could come into our room. We called the front desk to ask if they could tell her to turn down the music; we heard her room phone ring and after a few seconds she starts yelling at us through the shared door: "I don't give a f***!...I'll meet you in the parking lot!" - What?!? Are you serious? LOL We called the front desk TWICE after to ask if we could change rooms but the lady who was working refused and said nothing was going to happen, but if it continued she would call the police. Well the noise continued and we tried to sleep, we decided it wasn't worth it to stay because we knew we wouldn't get a good night's sleep. We packed up and headed to the front office to ask for a refund. The front desk lady refused and said she wouldn't do that. She said the lady was harmless and nothing would happen. I told her, "Umm, well I'm not staying to find out." and my son stated, "This is the worst motel in Morro Bay!" After that, a young girl somewhere in the back starts cussing us out with F-bombs and tells us to get out and don't come back. Oh believe me, we won't and anybody reading this review won't either! Wow! this is such a beautiful place right on the Southeast corner of Beach Street and Main Street. The staff is very friendly gives you a warm welcome and makes you feel right at home and there's always a smile on their faces! Thank you! The hotel was recently painted looks clean and refreshing great curbside. And the rooms are very roomy lots of space some updating is in the process. And the price is just right in fact the longer you stay the lower the prices. I love the fact that it is walking distance to The Rock which if you know the town of Morro Bay everything is closed but this is even better hahaha I've stayed in my family beach home and we are up a little further but this is really nice when you need it when your family beach home is overtaken by other members haha read more

I had to book a room last minute elsewhere for the same price for 1 night. I had to split up my family because apparently they're strict when it comes to number of guests in Morro Bay. They were not sympathetic to my situation, at all, and assumed I was trying to sneak more people in to my room than I said was staying there. I was staying there by myself and booked a room at a different hotel for 2 other family members. They didn't believe me and canceled my reservation. Stayed two nights. Very musty had to have the windows open and the air on the whole time we were in the room the minute we walked in. Because of that heard people drunk walking and talking past our room loud at 12-1am in the morning. But besides that was quiet. Outdated and not very clean. I repeat and this I haven't seen as much in the reviews and would have canceled had I seen this... outdated and not very clean. Way overpriced paying on Airbnb as opposed to just going to their website. On a sidenote, the location was great and there were animals there and not one of them Made noise. the dogs were all very quiet never heard of bark and well behaved. The staff wasn't in the lobby, but they were very quick to respond or come back in and answer questions. Honestly, because of the smell, I won't be staying here again. ZERO STARS... My family and I were visiting Pismo over the weekend and we decided to stop at Morro Bay for the day, before heading home. For some reason every time we go to Morro Bay my son now five always gets sick from the drive so we give him Dramamine to help from getting nauseous while on the road but in this case it didn't work. My son started feeling sick as soon as we entered Morro Bay so I asked my husband to pull over and he did but too many cars kept driving by making it difficult for us to get my son out of the car safely since he was sitting on that side of the car. So I asked my husband to pull into the Coastal breeze parking lot. Got my son out and started walking to the sidewalk so he could get some air and be near a bush or something in case he needed to throw up. But half way there he threw up in the parking lot. We all had a light breakfast that morning and my son basically threw up water and as I am leaning over my son helping him I hear a lady screaming at me that he can't do that here, this isn't public parking and who is going to clean it up? None of which had crossed my mind, I'm so focused on my son. She kept on and on literally. Went and brought her husband out since my son was still getting a hold of himself and we weren't leaving. As soon as my son was done we were walking to the car and the lady came up to my face yelling that I'm cleaning it up which I offered to throw water on top to wash away basically nothing. I told her you can't expect a five year old to hold it in. And I explained we tried to go to the bushes and us parking there for safety. She didn't care. Her husband and my husband seemed to be talking to each other a bit more amicably. She on the other hand was pure evil. She too is a mother her daughter came out to see what was going on. It's hard to believe being a mother herself she's never been in a similar situation. At this point my son was in the car. I took my full water bottle and threw all the water on my sons throw up while the lady was still yelling things in another language. Her husband telling her to calm down and go inside. Eventually she did and we drove off. It's sad my sons had to witness all this. Horrible people to guests and non-guests. Not friendly by any means. read more

Zero stars. Stay away. I booked online and should have checked the reviews first. When I arrived, I was friendly as I always am . I asked the young woman how her day was going and was curtly told to fill out a card with my name and address. As I was filling it out she told me they required a $100 cash deposit. I told her I don't carry cash and joked that most people I know just use cards or their phone now. She cut me off and rudely told me "actually a lot of people carry cash ma'am if you don't want to stay here we can cancel your reservation" I told her I would have brought cash but it was not listed anywhere when I booked that that would be a requirement and tried asking if they had an atm or if they could put it on my card . Looking back, a cash deposit seems highly suspicious anyways. I had them cancel because she was being extremely rude and her father (?) started saying rude things about me to his wife (?) in their native tongue. Never assume people are monolingual ! It's honestly a blessing I was steered away from this place now that I see the reviews. I found a cheaper, cleaner hotel down the street and got a lot of credit card points so it all worked out in the end. read more

This hotel room is HOT. Unless you are someone accustomed to sleeping on the equator, or inside of your sauna, you will not be comfortable sleeping here between May-October. We checked into this room in the middle of the night after a wedding, and when we stepped inside, we immediately started to perspire. It was HOT. So hot, I took my thermometer out of my bag (I'm a chef) and it measured 80 degrees! I found a thermostat on the wall, and immediately tried to adjust it, but quickly realized that nothing was happening. I looked around the room, and found no vents - there was no air conditioner in the room anywhere, (and not even the advertised refrigerator, for that matter). The best you could do is to open the windows in the front, and the tiny bathroom window in the back, and hope for one of those "Ocean Breezes" advertised in the hotel name. (We did this, there was no breeze, and if there had been, it would certainly have been a dumpster breeze, rather than an Ocean Breeze, since we're quite a few blocks from the Ocean). I went to the front desk to speak with the owner of the hotel, about 30 minutes after checking in to let her know we were checking out, and that the room was far too hot. I inquired about a refund, to which she replied, "No. We don't advertise cold rooms." I called Orbitz booking services (they were the folks I booked through), and she gave them the same reply. She also told them that she would rather lose future companies than refund our money for the time we didn't spend there. The Agent also shared with me that this hotelier told him she had held the room all night for us, so she wasn't able to rent it to anyone else, implying that she had a full hotel, but she also had the "Vacancy" sign on out front, so she was either being dishonest with the public, or with Orbitz. If you're trying to stay here while the weather is warm, good luck. It's absolutely not worth it, and I would not recommend it to anyone I have ever met. (For the record, the room was so hot we chose to check out of our hotel room immediately and drive the 4 hours home in the middle of the night, making our bedtime 6am. It was truly unbearable.) read more

I apologized for calling at 10:30pm but the trip being so last minute I needed to find a room immediately, YET was not given the chance to say anything more than the night I wanted to get a room for. He abruptly cut me off of talking and said "no rooms available, none" and was hung up on. Tried not to get upset but I needed a room so just called again and tried using a deeper voice so I sounded like a man. (I wish this thought of sexism wouldn't even have to be mentioned, but sadly it does). The second call I made I was at least able to get more information about the status of vacancies, and once I asked to book a room, apparently there were available rooms but wasn't worth their time, and I was once again hung up on. Looked on trivago, booking.com, and TripAdvisor - the hotel has rooms available but I don't want to waste my time or money on a business that is so disrespectful. The staff is very rude and provide misleading information to tourist all the time. Room smells bad, seems like someone has taken drugs and throw up on the bed. I live upstairs but I hear someone break in the downstairs rooms and make loud noise. Police came in around 30min seems someone got hurt. They left around after 2 hours. I can hear they chatted with the manager outside my room downstairs. I chatted with the hotel manager next morning what was going on. He told me just regular security check. Overall a decent experience. The bedroom for two double beds was actually larger than expected. The room was clean and there was no "hotel stink" in the room. The shower was lacking. I saw pink mold and it took a minute to figure out how to get the shower to not spout scalding water alternated with freezing water (adjust the lever on the shower head). The refrigerator makes some clicking sounds throughout the night, almost like it is turning off and on, but it's on. You can tell they're trying, so for the price they're worth a consideration. read more

Well I have to disagree with the other reviews. I came here to write a good review and was surprised to read the other reviews. Here's what I think: Found this place clean and in good shape. None of those annoying shower grout issues or switch covers missing like other motels. Perhaps the place has been renovated? Two things I found impressive: A. The windows are very sound-insulating. I was here off-season in the middle of an enormous rainstorm. Yet I wondered if it was still going on and I opened the door to find it was raging outside. I can't talk about sound insulation from floors or walls because there were few other guests, however. The motel is in a quiet spot so probably not a critical issue but a heck of a lot better than most motels. B. The room is heated by a radiant heater in the ceiling, apparently, which means none of that annoying fan noise that keeps waking me up in other motels. I set the thermostat too high at first and had to open the window to cool the place down to a lower temperature. Must really work. I was impressed. I have been to Morro Bay before and stayed in motels down the street. I chose this one because it looked tidy and because it was on Beach St which is right up the street from the quayside restaurants to the far right (I am found of the American Fish Place). Now on other hand, I have no idea why the people at the front desk are in the hospitality industry, since they are just plain hostile! I did just that because the whole site looked so shady and i didn't want to take a risk with my money. When we got there, the woman at the front desk went off on me for doing that, and she even told me that if the next time I did that, she will not hold my reservation. You could easily think that there was a line of people waiting for a room, when this place was pretty much empty! Besides, if they don't hold a room without credit, why is that option even available? The only reason why my husband and I put up with her rudeness was because it was very late and we didn't know if we would be able to find another place, even outside of Morro Bay. Regarding the room, there was rust and mold everywhere, not to mention yellow towels and a bed so hard that we both woke up with a terrible back pain and neck! Before leaving, we told the husband about the website situation and how rude the other person at the front desk was to us. We never raised our voices but he quickly lost it. He told us that we just misunderstood her tone and that we were at fault for misreading the whole situation. However, when he saw that we were not buying his excuses, he simply replied that if we didn't like it, we should go somewhere else. We used to love this place, but since the new administration started, we were in shock to see of how the customer service has severely declined. If you want to go for cheap rates and bad service, this is the place to go! I had booked my room here about a week and a half ahead of time for the 6-8th of September 2020, I had gotten my room for about 109 a night and I had booked it for two nights bringing my total to 217 and some change. So the first thing he tells me is that I got a great deal because of a mistake on booking.com because the room was supposed to $259 per night, but I got it less than that for 2 nights. Long story short, we were stereotyped from the start. I have visible arm tattoos and I'm half Mexican and so is my cousin who also has tattoos, we're from Visalia we have good jobs, and we just came up to hang out and meet up with some family, my uncle is specific. And the manager who looks like Apu from The Simpsons, kept bothering us within 15 min of us unpacking my truck walking by our room 109 just looking fir a reason to make us leave, even threatened to call the cops because the music was loud and we didn't have Covid masks on, and I said look up to the 2nd tear, family is 5 were watching with no masks either, in fact no one in any room had a mask, and to top it off, he wasn't wearing a mask either . We had a Bluetooth speaker on low at 330pm and he said he didn't want problems with music later that night, which I'm guessing after 9 in Morro Bay, so we were having some beer when he came by and started the commotion saying that we were making noise and being disrespectful and he got a lot of complaints, and none of that was true. He wanted us to leave, which we did I don't like to make unnecessary waves, because he wanted to rent that room out for more than what I actually paid for on bookings. So I had to drive another two and a half hours back home after he did what he did. He did give me a refund, but I have to call bookings.com and had to sit there another 15 minutes on the phone with them to make sure that I got my money back. This is a horrible place he's Indian so I don't know why he would sit there and stereotype and my cousin, but I will never ever recommend that place to anybody, and it does not have air conditioning, the water pressure sucks, the trash cans already had trash in them from somebody else. I get out the shower and walk around the room and my feet are black ! Within 5 minutes my bottom of my feet are black as if I walked a mile outside bare foot. Disgusting. We booked a room with 2 double beds and she was suggesting we had more people In our room than we did! Demanding that we pay extra if we did have more people. Which we didn't. Never again! 1. Bad customer service--my husband and I needed to cut our trip short by a day. We explained the situation, but they refused to give us even a partial refund for the last day. There was no attempt to compromise, and their tone was very rude. 2. Price is not right--grossly overcharged. I'd expect a swanky suite with excellent customer service for what they charged. This wasn't even a holiday weekend. 3. Uncomfortable--The room doesn't have an AC or fan. We had to keep windows cracked open at night, which hardly feels safe, but is better than suffocating and drowning in your own sweat! And I'm not a super picky person towels & linens wise, but these felt like sandpaper! 4. Insultingly cheap--There is a sign on the thermostat that tells the customer to turn the heat down to 62 degrees at night, claiming it is for the guests comfort. The fridge was set at the highest temperature as well. All in all, this experience makes me wonder how this Inn is making money, because I doubt there are ever repeat customers. Silver lining: makes us even more appreciative for great places like Pleasant Inn, also conveniently located in Morro Bay. read more

We were called names by the front office woman, Mona. We were loading our car at 11:10am and our room phone rang. She asked if we were staying another night (there was only ONE other guest room being used and they had already left). We said no and that we were packing the car now. She then told my husband that she was going to charge us 20.00 per half hour past 11:00! When my husband said we were packing the car, she said he was a "bad man"! He said she was NOT to charge his credit card another cent, she told him to "shut your face bad nan" and "I hate you" Unbelievably rude to my husband. He has traveled all over the world on business and has never been spoken to like this. We will NEVER return. read more

Had a hot glued thermostat but no vents in the room so.... towels had long black pieces of hair on them and we're all blondes and brunettes. The walls are paper thin and we could hear our neighbor coughing and moaning for a while in the early morning. There is no air conditioner or fan anywhere in the room, the paint is peeling in spots, the comforter was rough, the bed was uncomfortable, the shower was rusty and I think the shower-head is from the 70's or 80's. The towels are microscopic and the shower was rusty and stained. The fridge barely worked. Everything was outdated and uncomfortable.
