Old school brewery, location, and taproom - the way I like it... One of the older breweries in Savannah, Coastal is located in an industrial area, like much of all the older breweries started off as and at. A no frills taproom, they not only offer what you can find in stores, below their "blue line" you can try some of their stuff you can't get anywhere else. Service here was exceptional, friendly, and chatty - just the way I like it, and most everyone was welcoming of the lone stranger who just moseyed on in, without a care in the world. I really can't say enough about this place, the patrons, and the folks who work behind the bar. After you fight the parking and the crowds of the in-town and downtown breweries, come here for a wholly different and refreshing experience. You won't be disappointed. read more

Sadly I only got one picture...only because I was having too much fun! We went on a slow day but our bartender was so much fun!!! He was explaining how they make the beer and everything that goes into the process. It was so cool how to took his time to explain that to us. It made the beer cooler to drink knowing how it was made. I also got a souvenir glass which is fun to add to my collection. The only thing I didn't like is it's not downtown so you can't really walk anywhere else. You will have to drive to this location. read more

Well this place was every kind of spectacular!Went to support an event being held there that a friend was involved with.The place is huge,comfortable and inviting.The staff and patrons were incredible,warm,friendly and genuine. since I don't drink,I can't first hand comment on the product other than to say they have an impressive list of options .They did have a home made root beer that tasted like those root beer barrels,you know...the little hard candies you grew up with?The price point was Faust and they allowed patrons to sample the beers and everyone who did so found something they liked. We stopped in on a Thursday night so I guess it was an off time as we were literally the only ones there but the bartender was super cool and willing to tell us all about their beer selections (of which they had many). It's an older industrial style building and the beers were ok. They had some single cans available to go which I like so I bought some to take home. Prices were really cheap here for a flight so I was pleased with that. Definitely not one of my favorite breweries but still fun. read more

This might be the best brewery in the area. It is off the beaten path as most breweries are in many places around the country. The building is huge which gives us ample space to social distance that is if there are not too many patrons inside. There is an outdoor area with benches but beware of the mosquitoes. I got torn up. I had the Inshore IPA which was quite a nice IPA, smooth and tasty. But the best beer in my opinion is the Dawn Patrol Mole Imperial Stout. Rich coffee goodness and a full mouth feel you'll find yourself quite impressed with this beer. I hope to visit again next time I'm in the area. read more

Stopped by Coastal on a visit to Savannah, I arrived in the afternoon on a Friday and there were not that many people there. I went to the bar, the bartender was very polite, offering me suggestions based upon what I like (stouts and porters) I sampled two beers and settled on the peppermint porter. Unusual? Yes. The best porter I ever had? No. Interesting but still good? Definitely. The brewery is not within walking distance of the widely popular historic district like many of the others. However after visiting a few others, I would say that I liked Coastal the Best. They also have a Mario Kart 64 tournament?! If I was local I would definitely be there for that. I am no stranger to microbreweries and I would definitely visit Coastal again. Also Coastal has the BEST logo I have seen at a brewery, I highly recommend getting a pint glass there. read more

While I was a bit more partial to Two Tides beers on our trip, my wife thought Coastal Empire was the best, especially the cucumber kolsch which was extremely refreshing and I imagine must be hugely popular in Savannah in the summers. There was a very laid back vibe in the tap room that we enjoyed. Good service but no pressure. Can't wait to come back again. read more

A little off the beaten path, but a great brewery none the less. After finding this brewery we were able to stop in and try a couple very unique beers. The had a few interesting ones a had to sample like a dill pickle sour (complete with Pickle Rick tap handle), key lime sour, and my favorite, their brown ale. The also had a bunch of bourbon barrels around the taproom aging some more of that brown ale that I would have loved to try and I bet will be delicious once its ready to go. We sat with a local couple who were very versed in the Savannah beer scene and personally knew the head brewmaster, which we got to meet and talk with. He is definitely pushing the envelope on new combinations of flavors and what can be done with different beer styles. The space itself didn't have a ton of seating and was really interestingly laid out as it looks like there used to be office space attached that is now used for random odds and ends. It was definitely worth the trek to find and another great Savannah brewery. read more

This is one of my favorite breweries in Savannah. It is off the beaten path, so it is not overrun with tourists. They have a large selection of beer, of which my favorite is definitely the keller's milk stout. It is a relaxed atmosphere with lots if different games, including Mario kart! They host a lot of great events too, from comedy nights to different food competitions. Definitely worth going to grab a few beers! read more

This is a good craft brewery right in Savannah that I highly recommend. We went on Georgia beer day so they had a good turnout and food as well. The beers rotate seasonally. When we were there many of the beers were citrusy and hoppy. My favorite beer of theirs is the Savannah Brown ale which they did not offer when we were there. They had a few R & D beers which were good as well. Their beers are nothing too extraordinary, but definitely worth a try. I'm a big advocate of supporting local businesses especially craft breweries in the Savannah area so I recommend this place for anyone into craft beer. read more

My wife and I tracked down the brewery and upon arriving were a little taken back by the appearance. I wasn't sure if it was the right place. We decided to be brave and hope that it resulted in good beer and not murder. Lucky for us we got beer. Inside there is a great atmosphere and several beers that we enjoyed. Even in Chicago, some places cary Coastal Empire. After having a few cans from my local liquor store, I was very excited to check them out while visiting Savannah. The location is industrial, as most breweries are these days and there was plenty of parking. We arrived shortly after they opened and sat at the bar. We opted for a flight and picked out a few interesting beers to try. Service here was quick but definitely not friendly. We both felt like we shouldn't be there and like we were annoying the server behind the bar and then what appeared to be the manager or brewer who was sitting at the other end of the bar talking to someone. We were rarely checked up on even though their was only one other guest. They were preparing for an event that was taking place later that day. They had plenty of options to go and the beers were good, just wish we hadn't felt unwelcome during our visit. read more

Checked this place out yesterday, and every beer I had was really impressive. Definitely the best in Savannah for beer quality, even a little above Two Tides as these guys have more variety. I really dug the hangar tasting room vibe, and the people working here were super friendly. My favorite beers were their Triple Smoked IPA and Pumpkin Milk Stout. At $11 for a flight I feel like it was maybe a buck or 2 too expensive, but I know I was getting a great quality product. Will be back! read more

Absolutely love this place! I moved to Savannah recently and went to check out this place out with the boyfriend. Right when I walked in I felt at home. Very laid back atmosphere. They have some games and you can bring your own food (they also let me know they have food trucks come in plus local bands.) Dogs are super welcome (as well as kids which I thought was convenient.) They were pouring their six main beers plus about ten limited edition brews that you can only get there. I asked to try three samples and they were cool about it and even helped me pick out something I would like as I'm not usually a big beer drinker. The guys working were very nice and seemed like they were educated on all the beers they have. Try out the Tybee Blonde and the coffee flavored one! Will be back. read more

Out of the way but a good beer is always worth it. I was not disappointed. The ipa was dry hpped and so fresh. Blown away by the hint of caramel and citrus hops. For us hop heads this is a must! read more
