Even though Edgerton and Glenn said they were not able to help my mother personally, Doctor Glenn promised to reach out to some fellow colleagues so together we could get the best care for my mother. I am currently waiting to hear something back and looking forward to my mother being able to take care of her dental issues. I hate to admit it because I have always been a "clean cut" kind of gal, but I fell into a deep depression three years ago. I started taking all sorts of antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, weight loss drugs - all on top of years of heavy coffee and sugary drinks. It wasn't until I fell into the deep hole of disposable vapes that doing things like eating popcorn suddenly became excruciatingly painful. Sometimes I would eat an almond and it would feel like there was lightning going all of the way down to the roots of my molars. I am pretty tough, but even after being numbed over multiple times, I could still feel it when dental work was being done. Throughout all of this, Dr. Bland remained patient and continued to check in with me. He could tell if I made a small movement that indicated my discomfort and would see if I needed a break or more numbing relief. Thankfully, I am no longer having any of the sensitivity since I stopped consuming large sums of coffee, sugar, and most especially since I stopped vaping. I love everyone who works with him. The fact that he has people who have been by his side for close to a decade or more really says something about who he is as a person. I have been moving around my whole life and have been to many others. He is genuinely the best I have visited. The office is immaculate, beautifully designed and simply top notch. Plus there is a spa on the second floor that gives great massages. I never thought I would think of a place like this as a little oasis, but I certainly do now.

Before I start, let me say that my treatment at Coastal Smiles Dentistry is absolutely the most…read morepositive and rewarding experience as a patient in my 45 years on this world. I had the worst looking teeth before hand. Now I have a beautiful smile. People in grocery stores compliment my teeth often. He exceeded not only my expectations, he surpassed my hopes. This is as close to dental perfection as it gets. 1. I have always been afraid of the Dentist's chair. Dr. Li absolutely destroyed my Dental-phobia with his amazingly calm, compassionate and kind demeanor. I'm not afraid anymore and I look forward to my visits because of the way I am treated. 2. I had a full set of titanium implants, because I just didn't take care of my teeth. But I never once was shamed for that. Instead, I was educated. He included me whenever possible. We devised a process (I say 'we' because Dr. Li works WITH patients. Making patients a part of the team gives us agency, and there is very authentic unity) and Dr. Li was very clear about what I could expect. For me, the process took longer, because I had an overbite. Many other Dentists might have just taken the quick way, but Dr. Li is so gifted, so talented and passionate about his profession that he invested a great deal of time to get my occlusion (that's the science of how the top and bottom teeth fit together) corrected. This choice prevented damage to my TMJ, and the process was custom-tailored to my needs. I was not really hopeful at first. That very quickly changed. Fifteen seconds into our first meeting, in fact. 3. I'm an Industrial Designer. Because of this, I can tell you that the Coastal Smiles instrumentation and technology is absolutely state of the art. This is important, because recent developments have made it possible to increase precision and make the patient's experience more comfortable. 4. Dr. Li is a wonderful dentist and a good human being. Titanium implants are a life-changing investment, and the dentist and his team made the best choices. The entire process was built around my best interests, to achieve the best outcome, and Dr. Li was very patient and kind in answering my questions. At one point, I was feeling like I was being annoying by asking about everything because I'm just an overthinking, sometimes easily made anxious person. But I told him honestly that I was fascinated by the art and science of dentistry and my questions were from a place of wanting to learn, a place of intellectual interest, and not because I doubted his clinical acumen or abilities. He immediately lit up with the kind of passion for his calling that every patient would hope to see. He is quite simply the finest dental surgeon I have ever encountered, and he answered all of my questions with kindness and interest. He never talked down to me. He earned my trust very early on, and his integrity and commitment are unimpeachable. 5. I got so much more out of this experience than I ever expected. Dr. Li and I developed a friendship based on mutual respect and, while he is clearly the professional here, we were and always will be in sort of surgeon-patient partnership. This is good, because it motivates patients to do our part in maintaining our health. I not only got a great dentist and beautiful new smile out of this, I made a new friend! 6. His staff are absolutely the best in the business. I was greeted with kindness and hugs, every time. We all know one another by name, and we have all become friends. That's a rare and beautiful thing. 7. Dr. Li made it a priority to monitor and manage any potential pain. Other than the injections of the anesthetic, there was no pain during any procedure. There are televisions mounted on the ceiling in case a patient could benefit from having something to take their mind off of the work being done, but I was fascinated by everything. Dr. Li's skill made me so interested in what he was doing. His skill and his technique are unsurpassed, and the materials are top-of-the-line. In short, he made certain to deliver the best care possible, and constantly checked to make sure I was appropriately anesthetized. 8. The team is very organized, kind, and capable. I would arrive at an appointment and over the course of two plus years, I NEVER HAD TO WAIT MORE THAN 5 MINUTES TO BE TAKEN BACK AND SEEN. 9. Dr. Li has a system set up for out-of-office-hours emergencies, and returns calls within minutes. You won't find a better, more committed dental surgeon anywhere than in Dr. Collin Li. They have two locations. One on Carolina Beach, and one in front of Best Buy. This is so convenient. It's also nice that his office is next door to Starbucks and a wonderful cookie and pie bakery!

After having 6 month smile which really turned into 2 1/2 years of braces and nothing but problems with my teeth after I DO NOT RECOMMEND DR LEE . My filling came off from a chip in my front tooth and he said he couldn't see it and it didn't need fixed . Which is ridiculous bc YES you can see it and the young boy who is working with him said I didn't even have to show him what tooth because he could see it . On top of denying ( basically bc he probably didn't know what to do with it ) I got charged for a "exam" . That's interesting because I was there for 10 mins and there was zero examination done . More like a consultation. I guess I should just be happy that I paid for him not to mess my teeth up anymore than he already has !

I've visited this office three times now (twice for exams/cleanings and once for teeth whitening)…read moreand have had a positive experience each time. Here are some of the highlights: The Office: Housed in a new, modern building, the waiting room is bright and welcoming with plenty of places to sit, a Keurig and cookies! The exam rooms are similarly bright and comfortable. One of the nice things is that you don't have a lot of "stuff" looming over your face while you are in the chair; all of the apparatuses are on swinging arms that come up from the bottom, so I imagine if you are the nervous or claustrophobic type, this would be a huge plus. The only thing hanging in your sight line is a small flat screen TV (a nice distraction!). The Staff: From the front desk receptionists to the techs, everyone I have encountered has been friendly, professional and genuinely interested in patient care. On my last visit I watched as one of the techs helped an elderly man out of his chair in the waiting room and into an exam room and she was extremely kind and patient - no attitude, no hurrying him or talking down to him. My own tech, Natalie, was just as friendly and I appreciated her gentle touch (particularly when the dental floss came out!). Dr. Shumate: In a word - charming! He's upbeat, cheerful and has a great sense of humor. He took the time to explain my x-rays to me and asked me if I had any questions. I never felt rushed or like he was just going through the motions to get to the next patient. If I had to point out a "con," it would only be that on my first visit the staff tried to upsell me on a couple of procedures (like Invisalign, even though I have already had braces), but in reality it's a business they are running so I can't really object. Just be prepared to say a firm "no thanks" if you're planning to visit as a new patient and aren't interested in bells and whistles. I felt bad brushing them off so found myself sitting in an office watching a video about Invisalign. Be assertive! haha Overall, a great experience and a practice I'd recommend to a friend.

From reception, to the technician I interacted with, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also appreciated that I was seen close to the scheduled time and never felt rushed. Once the technician brought me back, I went through a quick X-ray and was led into the exam room. The room was clean, organized and comfortable. Again, within minutes, the dental hygienist arrived and started her routine. I'm very particular about following up with dental care and exams. I floss and brush frequently, and take pride in my teeth. Nevertheless, this dental hygienist took her time, and was extremely detailed in checking the health of my teeth, and even better, she was meticulous with a very detailed cleaning! I can say that in all my years, she is most definitely the best Dental Hygienist I've ever had! Great job! Next, I was welcomed to the practice by a super down to earth and friendly dentist: Dr. Panchal. We went over any concerns and and oral history, and, of course, he studied all of the X-rays taken. He proceed with the oral exam. Dr. Panchal patiently explained his findings and discussed his recommendation, treatment plan, and timeline. I'm pleased to say that my first visit was above average! From professionalism, welcoming and very clean environment, detailed staff, everything was perfect! Dr. Panchal has a great personality and I can see how he sets a wonderful standard which staff fallows. His wit, and lack of pretense were great, and even better: his knowledge, his ability to put the patient at ease, and his communication skills were wonderful! So, if like many, you're nervous about going to the dentist, I strongly recommend that you give office a chance. They are fantastic and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!!! Nice job, everybody!
