This was our third stop on our vineyard-hopping adventure. We saved the best for last. For $10, I sampled over a dozen wines with a lovely view of the vineyard. Our tour guide was knowledgable and entertaining. He explained the process in a detailed and methodical way that really added to the experience. The wines were varied; some I liked more than others. I left with two bottles and a free tasting glass.

This couple obviously words very hard and puts their heart and soul into this vineyard. We could see them working out there in the heat. And the gentleman who runs the tasting room is knowledgeable and entertaining--worth stopping just for that. We just didn't love the wines--and we are fans of many wines in the area. We will continue to return and hopefully the new vintages will improve.

    the location of the vineyard

My friend and I came here today for a wine tasting. The path to get to this place is very uninviting and the owner is very unpleasant. There are no really definitive indications that this is a winery other than the vineyard vines at the bottom of a hill and a mailbox. We were going to try this through groupon which has been refunded as we will not return. We followed the tiny arrows pointing down hill for winery and ending up heading back up to the front door. At this point the very unpleasant woman decides now will be the time to stop washing dishes to rudely tell us in her sarcastic tone they are not open today. Only Friday,Saturday and Sunday then promptly shut the door in our faces before we could even say that's not what your hours online clearly state. Hours state: open today (Wednesday) 12pm-5pm

Walk down here to find the winery and tasting room. Well worth it.

Beautiful vineyard, nice people; small operation. Not much to see in terms of the process in making the wine.

I cannot say enough good things about Westport Rivers Vineyard & Winery. From the moment you arrive…read moreon their stunning property, you understand why this place is truly special. The Russell family has been crafting wine here since 1982, and that generational passion shows in every single pour. This isn't some corporate operation -- it's a fifth-generation family of vintners tending 80 acres of vineyard on a 435-acre farm , and you feel that love and care the moment you step on the grounds. The wines themselves are world-class. Their champagne-style sparkling wines are rated in the top 100 in the world and have even been served at the White House -- twice. And yet somehow they remain approachable and unpretentious. Their flagship Brut RJR offers compelling aromas of apples and toast, with fine tiny bubbles, crisp citrus, and a lengthy, satisfying finish -- at a price point that makes you feel like you've discovered a secret. The Atlantic Northeast's cool maritime climate and the farm's rich soils layered with granite over glacial outwash give the wines a gorgeous balance of luscious fruit and bright acidity that you simply won't find anywhere else. There are no wines on the planet that pair better with local New England seafood. The outdoor patio with vineyard views is absolutely beautiful , and the Friday evening Sunset Concert series makes this one of the most charming date-night or weekend destinations on the South Coast. Their winemaking philosophy uses ancient, traditional methods including those of Champagne and Burgundy -- minimal processing, maximum patience. You taste the difference. If you haven't visited Westport Rivers yet, you're missing one of Massachusetts' true treasures. Five stars isn't enough.

There were some teachers and a lot of older couples. You couldn't blame them as it was a perfect winery day. They had a food truck with lots of items on site. We didn't get food, but anyone who had some, looked like they were very pleased. The woman who helped us was very nice and helpful. I hadn't been here in years, but it was just as lovely, if even nicer than when I was there last.

We did a wine flight so we could try a little bit of everything, and the Pinot was one of my favorites. We also ordered the kale salad, the cheese charcuterie board, and the gnocchi. The gnocchi was so good that we didn't leave a single bite. Actually, by the end of the meal, the only thing left on the table was a handful of cranberries from the salad. One of my favorite parts was grabbing our wine and walking over to the production area to watch the sunset with all of the huge wine tanks in the background. It made for a really unique setting. There's plenty of parking, a cute little gift shop where we even picked up some dog treats to take home, and the whole place just has a laid back vibe. I'd absolutely come back the next time I'm in Newport.

We started with a flight (Gemini, pinot noir, and 2 ciders) which were all tasty. We had with 3 cheeses (camembert, bloomsday, and harvest moon) which were all very good. I got the steak and my girlfriend got chicken, both dishes were nice and flavorful. Dessert was a lava chocolate cookie with ice cream on top, which was fantastic Staff was friendly and attentive, and the ambience was lively but a moderate volume. Most importantly, very modest pricing for the quality of food. We will be back if in the newport area again
