This is a hidden gem. It's not too far from Broadway at the Beach and the ocean. It's in a warehouse area and it gives an authentic vibe of how great breweries rise from humble origins. They are famous for their Dirty Myrtle IPA. Only at the brewery, can you drink and take away their blood orange Dirty Myrtle IPA. It's worth the visit to get this. The bartenders are friendly and know their products. They now have a seltzer on tap and it is not too sweet. They have a food truck. read more

Time to update my review. I've been coming to New South Brewing for about 4 years now. I frequent the Myrtle Beach area in the winter & this is by far my favorite brewery! There is no food, but the beer & the staff are wonderful, not to mention the atmosphere. This coming from someone who gave up beer a couple of years ago, but I always make exceptions here. I think it's more like 3.75. The location is quite odd, go back into an industrial park and turn in to the lot with barbed wire. Walked in today and find the place quirky. The first area is a small seating area with a bar. You can walk through a door to a much larger seating area that also seems to be storage/work space. Cans were stacked floor to ceiling. While we sat there someone was roasting coffee. The smell was great. I was confused as to what they were doing and walked over to ask. I didn't realize until later that they roast and bag their own coffee for sale. The folks working were very nice. I am somewhat of a beer snob and readily admit it. I tried three beers; two of which are styles I normally like and one that I wouldn't normally order. I came to tried their barrel aged stout. It was okay, thin for my taste and barrel was not as prominently as I would like. It was not a bad stout but for barrel aged I normally think a more thick, viscous beer. Next I ordered an imperial IPA. It was a take on their flagship IPA. It was interesting, not bad but not my favorite. I ordered one last beer and asked for a suggestion from the server. He suggested a Baltic porter on nitro. I would never usually order that style but did on his suggestion. It was good. Lastly, they have very odd hours. Not sure what leads to the weird hours. But today they were only open 4:30-7. It's that way during the week. They were closed Monday and the weekend hours aren't real long either. But all in all I would go back. read more

While visiting friends in SC, I was invited here by a couple of locals who frequent this establishment. I wasn't sure what I'd expect, but was glad to just catch up with friends. This place may be located on a much quieter section of Myrtle Beach, but this helps make it extra unique. Upon entering the place, the place was warm and friendly. Unlike most breweries where you play a game of Russian Roulette by ordering a large glass of beer of something you may or may not like, I loved that they had many sizes to choose from, including 4 oz. They also offered to have to try one before you purchased it. They gave me a wrist band, and would mark the beers we wanted on it, after which we could cash out after trying the various beers. I wish I had come here earlier in the day, as there is a lot I wouldve loved to try. I tried a small glass of bourbon IPA (forgot its name), and then a glass of the coffee IPA. Both were exceptionally good, enough to make me want to travel back to MB to just try everything else. I am very picky on my IPAs, but I was surprised to like both IPAs. If I ever visit Myrtle Beach again, I would definitely visit this brewery again. Also, I would highly recommend visiting this brewery if you are in the area, as it is MUCH BETTER than the others I have had when I lived and/or visited. read more

So I like untapped for finding new beer and seeing their ratings. I live in one of the best states for craft beer. Beer tree, Fidens, Aurora, other half, prison city, Miers creek, grow, UBL, and Singlecut all near me. I have gotten spoiled with beer in the 4.25+ range. My wife and I are on a roadtrip and have hit a few breweries on our east coast week long road trip. New south brewing is the first place that we have found outside of New England that makes good beer.dirty Myrtle, was a good tasting IPA. I found their beers to be mostly forgettable and I tried five of them. THEY DO NOT DO FLIGHTS. I hate that. Period. Hate it. Most beers are 12 oz pours...no pints at all. You can also do 6 ouncers. They have a walk up window for to go brews if you want and they tally up your bar tab at the end by doing a wristband marking system that's cool. You'll see when you get there. I'm not explaining it. I've been to scores of breweries and some have unconventional payment procedures like pre-purchasing tickets or tokens. At New South they have their own method. If you're drinking beer you must wear a wristband. Every time you order they mark your wristband and you end up paying when you leave. It was easy and quick. I tried several of their beers and all were very good. I like their size choices too. You can get a 6 oz beer for $2-$4 depending on the brew. That's a good deal especially if you're watching your alcohol consumption. Great and friendly atmosphere here. Not easy to find but that's why they make GPSs. read more

I was not very impressed by this place. When you pull up the parking lot has a gate with barbed wire that makes you feel you're not in the best areas. It's not really a very friendly brewery feeling. The beer is ok. They will sell you a sample of you want to try the beer before buying cans. The tasting room has limited seating and is basic. There are other breweries nearby that are more welcoming and have better beer. read more

What a strange little brewery. Seems like a local hangout, and I like to drink where the locals go. The small bar area is pretty cool, with different decor on the wall or you can also walk through into the back where they have skids of cans just waiting to be filled with their delicious beer from the conical fermenters. Dirty Myrtle & Drink a Peach were two of my favorites, but I did enjoy the wide variety of beer styles they brewed and brewed well. That's kind of rare these days. A lot of breweries are good at one or two styles and then play around with hops and malts but New South explores all the styles and does them well. Refreshing. Cannot wait to come back the next time we are in Myrtle! read more

We visit Myrtle Beach every year for a family vacation and were pumped to find there was a new brewery in town to add to our list of outings. We were even MORE excited when we pulled in to the parking area and heard "GO COLTS!" shouted to us from the food truck parked there (we have Indiana plates). Turns out, Hoosier Daddy's State Fair truck was there to provide tasty noms to accompany our beers (get the tornado chips!). The owner is a Indiana University Alum and fellow former Hoosier. FANTASTIC! I always love to learn about how breweries vary from state to state and being at New South was an awesome learning experience. The owner and bartenders took the time to educate us on why we had to wear a wristband, what we could legally consume in a single sitting, etc. You could tell they were passionate about their product and fellow lovers of craft beers. We loved it! Our 17 year old was even allowed to sit with us in the tasting room area -- just not directly AT the bar. Makes sense to me! The cherry on top was when I spotted a dog face through the tinted office window. Being the pup stalker that I am (and missing my 3 babies back home), I asked the owner if the fur babies could come out and play. He assured me if we stayed just past closing that he would let them out and I could love on them. Loving on these 2 gorgeous GSPs was one of the highlights of my trip! Thank you SO much for allowing me to get my pup fix!! High points from our visit to New South: -- The High gravity selections ($3/6oz pour): both were Lily the Great -- a Russian Imperial Stout, one brewed in 2014 and one in 2015. Holy aroma, batman. WOW! We also loved the Foreign Stout (6.1% abv, 4.96% abw) and the Dark Star Robust Porter (6.2% abv, 4.96% abw). We took a growler of the Porter home with us and I was SO pleased that it was reasonably priced AND tasty! -- The staff was amazing -- so friendly and knowledgeable. We were sorry that we arrived too late for the tour, as that is when you are allowed to "sample" the beers. We wished there was a flight option available, but when in a different state...it's different! And that's ok! -- The dogs. Did I mention that? :) We cannot wait to get back there next year to see what they have come up with for us to try! We will also plan to catch the tour so we can go 'behind the scenes' to see their brewing set up. Hooooray for a Myrtle Beach option that is not putt-putt or some random show! read more

We will definitely be returning to this awesome little brewery. It's kind of off the beaten path but well worth the hunt. The taproom is small, but inviting and the beertenders are super nice. My mom retired to Myrtle Beach a few years ago, and upon a recent visit, i decided to search for local breweries on Yelp... We came across New South and decided to pay them a visit. At first, you'll think you're in the wrong neighborhood - it's near the back of an industrial park in an unsuspecting warehouse building. Parking is a bit all over the place, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot. Once inside, there's both a small air conditioned tasting room - and some seating and games setup in the larger brewery floor. They open weekdays in the late afternoon so the brewing operations were just winding up for the day, but it was nice to see the brewers doing their thing. Great selection of beers- I'm torn up between the double IPA and the Belgian triple being may favorites - they do have a small selection of cans to go - so I took a four pack of the triple with me (and I think one of them is still in my fridge)! After a long day at the beach or doing the more touristy stuff, well worth a visit to have a locally made beer and make some new friends. read more

This brewery is definitely a diamond in the rough!! You drive way back into an industrial park, down a dirt road, to this shed-looking building that you're questioning if it's safe to be in the area of.. At first glance, I won't lie, it was a little questionable all around. Once you're in you find it's true beauty!! Cheap, house made beer, while enjoying great company! They give you a wrist band to wear once you arrive. Your "tab" gets marked on your wrist band. Example: a "1" for a 12 oz beer, and an "X" for a 6 oz beer. At the end of your stay, they tally up your marked up wrist band and you pay before heading out. There are a couple more "rules", but you'll find out when you go check this place out! read more
