I am extremely disappointed with the service I received at Costal Vision Eyes. I paid around $500 for a pair of prescription glasses and had a very frustrating experience. On December 18, I went to the store with my prescription and clearly asked for glasses for distance vision only. After some time, they called me to let me know that my glasses were ready. When I tried them on, my vision was blurry. The staff later realized that the employee who helped me had mistakenly ordered lenses with both reading and distance combinations, even though I had clearly requested distance only. They told me it was not a problem and that they would send the lenses back to be corrected. I then had to wait another 3-4 weeks. When I finally went back to pick them up again, my vision was still blurry. This was very frustrating because I had already waited a long time for the correction. At that point, I started to worry that maybe the eye doctor had made a mistake with my prescription. I took the glasses and scheduled an appointment with another eye specialist recommended by a friend. The new doctor confirmed that the original prescription was correct -- the problem was the lenses made by the store. They had only corrected one side and left the other lens with the same mistake. I paid the full amount upfront, which I now regret. After spending $500, I ended up with glasses that I cannot use and only kept the frame. I also lost a lot of time waiting for them to fix their mistakes, only to receive the wrong lenses again. This experience has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. I cannot recommend this place. I am sharing my story so other people are aware before choosing this store. read more

Very disappointing. It's been years that I have been coming here and every single year the service here has declined to point where I no longer will come here again nor have my family come here. In this day and age. It takes someone a week and half to tell you they didn't place your eye glasses order because you supposedly have a balance that they never mentioned. It's refreshing to have an optometrist who doesn't just prescribe lenses but educates patients about their eye health. Dr Nilsson prescribed me a progressive eyeglasses. These glasses seamlessly transition from reading to distance vision, making my daily tasks--whether working on my computer, reading or driving--so much easier. Dr Beach examined my retina and explained patiently how our eyes change as we age. Both were excellent doctors. I highly recommend them. read more

So I'm looking for a place to get my eyes taken care of in the area and unfortunately I had to cancel my appointment with the office the day of...I was then informed that I would possibly be charged $40 not providing 24 hrs notice. I do even have an account and this would be my first visit to the office. I would say that's pretty poor customer service to charge a hopeful customer for a visit they had to cancel for unforeseen circumstances. Apparently they don't charge you the fee till after your visit. Now it has been applied automatically, but I was informed it may happen...so I guess I should just go somewhere else to guarantee that I avoid the fee, right? read more

The doctors and their assistants are wonderful,! what is not wonderful, is the rude, front desk receptionists. No matter if you are calling or standing in front of them. So unprofessional, too young, don't care attitudes. It's a shame because I love the Doctors. read more

I have been going here for years. I really love Dr. Adbhner Wong as my eye doctor and Sheryl (I think?) at the front desk. Both of them gave me absolutely great customer service and each deserve 5 stars. They listened to all concerns I had and made me feel like a valued customer. Unfortuantely over the last year my family and I have run into several issues with them. This included: incorrectly ordered pair of glasses, incorrect charges, lack of communication, bills being sent 6+ months later without any other contact, etc. This has proven to be very frustrating for our family. Picked out a pair of two in one glasses/sunglasses I fell in love with. A day after placing my order the lady who handles the orders called and told me she looked up the wrong insurance... apparently there is someone with the exact same name, and birthdate. I ended up owing $150 more than what I was originally told. Her only solution was to cancel the order?? I still went through with the order only because I love the glasses. Dr. Abhner Wang is one of the most humble, honest, excellent healthcare providers ever! I always end up coming back no matter where I live in the country to see him. His office staff is always friendly, professional, and prompt. Every exam, I know I can depend on Dr. Wang to be honest and thorough. Highly recommend him to everyone! read more

I scheduled an appointment online about a week early. When I arrived they had no record of the appointment. I was told that the online system "never works right" and this happens all the time. I was told I could get an appointment in a day or two. I left. That is what I consider rotten customer service. read more

A one-stop optometry shop where everyone is kind and attentive from the front desk the moment you walk in, the assistant who does the preliminary assessment, Dr. Wong who did my comprehensive vision exam, and the optician who helped me choose frames and measured me for my progressive lenses. I got a bad case of viral pink eye while on vacation in Virginia Beach, and the kind folks at Coastal Vision at Redmill fit me in for an appt the same day I called. Dr. Nilsson was great. He explained my condition and treatment thoroughly, and I was feeling much better by the next day. Saved our vacation! read more

The prices are high and they are very unclear about their pricing, they gave me 3 different prices during one 10 minute phone call. Also informed me my deceased mother called and made an appointment. First time at Coastal Vision, Red Mill location. Dr. Scott Nilsson was friendly, personable, and thorough not only with the exam, but explaining how our vision changes over the years. Everyone from the front desk, techs, and staff to help you with the options of glasses/contacts were very friendly. All of my questions were answered and a breakdown of all charges was provided. Dr. Lin got my prescription totally wrong, and I had to go back in to get my eyes re-examined by her husband. After my re-examination, the eye glass consultant told me that any expenses incurred where I purchased my glasses, because I would need new lenses, would be my responsibility. I never even asked, he just came at me with this information with a crappy attitude. Dr. Lin makes the mistake, which in 30 some odd years of having my eyes examined has never happened, and I get told by the eye glass consultant it is my problem. During both my first exam and re-exam I explained that I didn't think progressive lenses were going to be okay for me, because I easily get motion sick. I was told to stop being so vain. ???? Really? Listen with your ears, folks. I would see Dr. Beach, though. My daughter saw him for her appointment, and he was kind to her and did a great job with her examination. read more

After several months of looking around the area and on line for some up-to-date eyeglasses I stumbled upon Coastal Vision. I'm a bit hesitate to give away what I know because I want them all to myself. First, I'm a glasses wearer with a tough prescription that was no problem for them. The selection of frames are amazing; stylish! They knew how to make my very high lens precreation with progressive and glare problems work so that I could see and look stylish at the same time. The customer service was over the top, they actually have people that know what they are talking about not just sales people like the other places. They weren't just trying to make a sale offering me the best deal while I was walking out the door. They actually knew about my insurance without me having to tell them what I qualify for. The person at the desk when you walk in the door actually remembers your name. Most importantly they all, including the manager, went well above to show me options in store and on the computer to get me exactly what I wanted. I was very concerned about what an eye exam might reveal. My bother's optometrist found a small tumor during a routine check. He was gone 19 months later Doctor Wang is personable and answered my questions thoroughly. After my workup and exam, I was overjoyed to know nothing was there. One of the opticians helped me pick frames for the prescription trifocals. I gave myself a week to become accustomed to my trifocals. Because I could see better with my cheap readers, I returned. The optician I'd originally worked with was busy, so I spoke with another. She said I needed bifocals, not trifocals. I left concerned and uncertain what to do. A few days later, I returned my glasses for a full refund. I want to add that Dr. Wang contacted me, wanting to understand why there was different information coming from his opticians. I recounted my experience, but I couldn't explain why it happened to his satisfaction and suggested he speak to his staff. But I appreciated that he reached out to me. read more

I saw Dr. Lin this week and was sorely disappointed. She was 45 minutes late getting to me... no explanation, no 'sorry we're running a bit late', nada. The she proceeded to be condescending throughout the entire visit. Then she asked if I had any concerns and I said I did, that I had to come to 3 separate appts on different days to get everything completed. SHE DID NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT I SAID, but completely ignored me and talked about something else. It was obvious she was checking all the blocks on things she had to do and say, but did it so fast, she obvious could care less about the patient and only cares about how many she can cram thru in a short period of time to make the most money. read more

I have been very pleased with the care and quality of service that I received from Dr. Nilsson over the last three years. I have been seeing eye doctors for almost 40 years, and he ranks among the best. He has been very patient helping me find the best solution for my specific vision challenges. WOW... On vacation in VA Beach when my glasses fell apart, no spare. I spotted the Coastal Vision sign and stopped in. I explained that although I didn't buy the glass from them, please repair, and I'll gladly pay for parts and labor. 15 minutes later with new parts installed, glasses adjusted and cleaned too, I was told no charge, "That's just what we do, make you see better". I had my annual check-up at Coastal Vision this week and must say that the total experience was first class. From start to finish, the entire staff was just outstanding. Notably, Dr. Jessica Lin Nilsson should be singled out for her personal efforts as a highly competent and gifted medical professional. Our Doctor-Patient dialogue was superb. Dr. Nilsson asked insightful questions and provided me with valuable information that not only enhanced my understanding but my confidence as well. She so clearly epitomized what all health care providers should emulate - manifesting outstanding interpersonal skills and superb Optometry knowledge coupled with a unique blend of focused compassion, commitment and respect.
