"Time to go to the vet".

First time bringing my furry butthead to the Vet and it was pretty comfortable. I did have a hard time looking for the place but I wasnt expecting a little house looking place. The people were friendly. Gave me plenty of compliments on my dog and she was really loving the attention. The Vet was quick, efficient, quick, answered all my questions and gave me information I needed. I was only there for Vaccinations so it literately took them 10min or less. Fun people. Cozy place.

She handles my skittish and unconfident border collie mix very well. Dr. McKinney recognized his nervousness immediately and was exceedingly gentle in her manner and tone. You'd be surprised at how many vets I've seen not read my dog properly (worse, not heed my warnings that he is head shy) and make an exam nearly impossible to complete. I absolutely feel like she provides options for care when available, and when she can, she will take a conservative approach and try to save her patients some money, which I appreciate. However, true emergencies are handled with the urgency I would expect. The four significant emergencies Dr. McKinney has overseen were handled outstandingly. While I was concerned for my animals, I was never concerned that they were not receiving the best care. I have sought vet care elsewhere because of the negligent service of the HMB Vet front office staff. I would consider returning because of her excellent repertoire with my dog, however.

Also - I hate to get to graphic - but the cat was returned to me after a prescribed enema with feces covering the hind legs. I had to give the cat a bath when I got home. It was very upsetting! Go to coastal holistic or linda mar veterinary hospital in Pacifica. It is worth the drive if you want good care for your pet. They took care of my cat and were very attentive.

Everyone from the staff to the veterinarian doctor were so sympathetic to our experience and comforted us in this difficult time. Genuinely felt like they cared and offered us grace and time we needed to say goodbye without feeling rushed or hurried. We came back 1 1/2 weeks later to pick up our fur baby Mocha's ashes and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was done so classy and thought out. The cedar box with her name wrapped in a very elegant velvet bag, a ceramic paw print, they captured her nose print as well for us, and lastly a certificate of her passing. To all the staff, thank you for support, caring gestures, and giving me and my family the best experience we could have asked for during this difficult time

Scheduling was easy, the staff was friendly, and overall we had a positive experience, aside from about $500 in recommended services that I declined. My dog was originally seen for an anal gland expression and two vaccinations. She has anxiety and knocked over a staff member during the first visit, so the clinic recommended Trazodone and Acepromazine for future appointments. I followed their advice, and our next visits went smoothly. A year later, I called to schedule another appointment and was surprised to be told they no longer wanted to see my dog. I wasn't given an explanation, but when I requested her records, I saw she had been labeled as aggressive. This had never been an issue at Claremont Vet Hospital. The lack of transparency was disappointing, especially since my dog was due for routine vaccinations. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this clinic for owners of large, anxious dogs that require extra handling, even when medicated.

I ended up pursuing xrays for my dog at another facility and the vet confirmed the tooth is not infected and does not warrant removal at this time. I also mentioned to Dr. Nguyen that my dog had an intermittent chronic hop/limp that my previous vet diagnosed as patellar luxation. Dr. Nguyen was confident it wasn't patellar luxation and recommended hind limb xrays to figure out what was really wrong. I got that imaging done as well at my other vet, just to confirm she does indeed have bilateral patellar luxation. I would seriously pause to consider this series of misdiagnoses and the extreme and costly procedures that were recommended (which now have been confirmed as unnecessary), when deciding if you want your pets seen here.

Neither your pet nor your wallet are safe here. Misdiagnosing/medical error is reason enough to…read moreavoid any vet. The less than honest billing is the cherry on top here. For a vet practice, having friendly and professional staff and clean facilities is table stakes. One would expect competence and honest pricing as well, but not here. There is dangerous incompetence with the medical care, and deceptive/overbilling (as much as 70% higher than other vets I got quotes from for the same procedure). For one, the vet (won't name out of respect) misdiagnosed a clinically significant cardiac condition of one of my dogs (2 other vets disagreed with her). I gave her the benefit of the doubt and came back with my other dog, for whom she also misdiagnosed a chronic joint condition. She also insisted that we extract a tooth due to a (possible) infection, and two other vets confirmed this is not necessary and that the tooth is not even dead. The vet simply lacks nuance and sophistication in understanding and navigating conditions and treatment options, and I did NOT feel safe letting her put my pet under to perform any procedures. Had I trusted this vet, my dog would be unnecessarily missing a tooth. I also confirmed over multiple conversations/emails the unscrupulous billing practices designed to avoid scrutiny. They provided me three different estimates for the same procedure, where the exact same line items were priced differently in each estimate. When asked, the employee could not explain this and kept making nonsensical excuses that made me feel like I was talking to a wall (or she thought I'd be too stupid to keep pressing). They refused to provide an itemized estimate for a procedure that I could submit to insurance. They explicitly said that if they were to provide such a receipt, they would have to charge me 85% more (confirmed both on the phone and over email). They'd provide the exact same services, but if they have to provide transparency into the billing, they would simply double the bill. They simply would not break out the costs of different medications/procedures as needed for insurance unless they doubled the price. I went to two other vets and neither had issues providing this kind of pricing transparency. Go at your own risk.

I started bringing my dog here to address his luxating patella. We came up with a plan to start shockwave therapy and water treadmill therapy and supplements. We've had two appointments out of the five of the package we purchased. He's much more comfortable with all the staff and treatments now. The first two shockwave treatments are done with the doctors to assess and develop a treatment plan, and the following treatments are done with a certified therapist. Everyone has been so kind to my dog that he loves coming here. And not just for the human grade cheese he's given to do the exercises!! We were also given a comprehensive List of physical therapy movements and stretches to do at home. It's too soon to tell if the treatment is working well, but we have high hopes with this clinic! It takes us about 3 hours of traffic to get to and from this clinic, but it's such a gem. They provide towels and blowdryers and snacks for the water treadmill work. We opted to not try the injection as my dog is scared of shots, who isn't really?! The doctor was so kind to provide us with a another supplement option, which we have started. They check in to see how he's doing at the start of every appointment and tailor the session to his needs. We opted to not go through insurance, but they can help out with paperwork if you do so. Well worth it to learn non invasive techniques to rehab your beloved pups. Can't wait to see my little baby become stronger with these amazing professionals!
