I am torn on how to review Cobblestone Shoe Hospital. I really wanted to love this place, but my husband was not very impressed with the work that was performed on his shoes and after several months of wearing them after Cobblestone Shoe Hospital repaired the heels, he is even more disappointed. My husband needed the heels on his Johnston & Murphy boots he wears daily for work repaired after using them every single day for 1.5 years. The gentleman who helped me out front was nice and polite and gave me proper expectations on turnaround time- which was about 3 weeks when we dropped them off in May, they were ready for pickup at the beginning of June. What was not explained to us, was that they couldn't make the heel the same as what we brought in. We have a second pair of these boots at home as a backup and were able to compare the heel dressing- which was significantly different. The new ones were very muted, not shiny at all and looked dull and messy- there is no other way to put it. My husband also had asked to get the shoes cleaned up and we would purchase new laces. They were not cleaned up, he had to do it himself once we got home. And we were just told we could pick out laces from the wall, there was no help really to match them up. Now, 4 months later, it looks like the heels that were repaired are not holding up too well and will need to be redone again. My husband walks around a hospital and office all day, he doesn't do labor intensive work and for the $65 we paid (with laces) it is a bit disappointing. I think this is an okay place to go, but for us traveling 35 minutes to get here, we will look into other options next time

They ruined my favorite pair of flats. Actually ruined. The shoes were gray and they used brown shoe polish. But the biggest problem is that I brought them in because they were starting to get holes in the ball of the foot. Cobblestone took off the stitched sole and very very badly glued on a very hard light brown sole. There is glue all over the flat. This cost me $80. No refund. They offered to fix them by cleaning up the glue! No thank you. You already screwed them up and you want me to still trust you to fix them? And then probably pay you again l.

I was told it would be ready around August 15th but that they would let me know when it was completed. When I called the day before, I was assured the bag was currently being worked on and I'd receive a completion text by end of day. That text never came. I called back the next morning and spoke with the same employee who took my original drop-off. He couldn't locate my ticket number, had to ask for a visual description, and then informed me work hadn't even started. When I brought up the conflicting update I received the day prior, his demeanor completely shifted. He became extremely rude, dismissive, and defensive, claiming "the guy" who does repairs doesn't work weekends and could not offer any assurance or clear timeline. When I stated I'd rather just pick up my bag and go elsewhere, he gave a careless "okie dokie." Curiously, while I was en route to collect it, he called back with a total change of tone--apologizing for his behavior and promising it would be done by Monday. While I appreciated the late attempt to save the business, the initial rudeness, lack of communication, and basic organizational failure completely destroyed my confidence in their work

When I entered the store, nobody was at the front counter for about 40 seconds to a minute. After waiting, I finally called out to see if anyone was there. Eventually, I was helped by the owner's son, but he was unable to provide a quote for the repair. I suggested that he take a quick photo of the bag and send it to his father so I wouldn't have to make another trip just to receive pricing information. In today's digital age, where photos and videos are commonly used for estimates and consultations, this seemed like a reasonable request. Unfortunately, he refused. What frustrated me most was the lack of effort to find a solution or accommodate a customer who had taken the time to come into the store. The situation could have been handled much differently and would have reflected far better customer service. As I was leaving, I informed the owner's son that I would be leaving a review. His response was to encourage me to do so and even suggest that I take my business elsewhere. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business. Customer service and communication are important, and unfortunately, both fell short during my visit.

I brought one of my Jimmy Choo lace up heels in for him to fix one of the laces where the leather was coming off, he gave it a week for pick up. when I came to pick it up He wrapped a big thick leather cord around it. It was so big and bulky like the thickness of a pencil. I asked him to please remove that and if he could do it more thin, matching the rest of the cord he freaked out didn't wanna do it said it's $50 or he'll cut it off and I can take my business elsewhere. I asked him to please just fix it and I would pay the $50 if it looked like $50 worth of craftsmanship. He kept it there for another week. I went to go pick it up and he handed me my shoe with the cord, cut off and all the glue stuck to the leather. Do not take your shoes to hand if you want quality work. He is an asshole.
