I bought my boots to this place for a right boot sole replacement. The guy there recommended I repair both of them and that I should also replace my heels. I asked him how much that would cause he quoted me $170. I thought that was a lot since my boots are about five years old and perhaps not worth that much anymore but he seemed pretty confident that he could get it done and make them look great. This is one of my favorite pair of boots, and really like them because I've already broke them in so I chose to spend the money. After six weeks, I went back to pick up my boots. My total with tax was $185.00 I took the time to write this review in the hopes that no-one else gets bamboozle by this place. I am torn on how to review Cobblestone Shoe Hospital. I really wanted to love this place, but my husband was not very impressed with the work that was performed on his shoes and after several months of wearing them after Cobblestone Shoe Hospital repaired the heels, he is even more disappointed. My husband needed the heels on his Johnston & Murphy boots he wears daily for work repaired after using them every single day for 1.5 years. The gentleman who helped me out front was nice and polite and gave me proper expectations on turnaround time- which was about 3 weeks when we dropped them off in May, they were ready for pickup at the beginning of June. What was not explained to us, was that they couldn't make the heel the same as what we brought in. We have a second pair of these boots at home as a backup and were able to compare the heel dressing- which was significantly different. The new ones were very muted, not shiny at all and looked dull and messy- there is no other way to put it. My husband also had asked to get the shoes cleaned up and we would purchase new laces. They were not cleaned up, he had to do it himself once we got home. And we were just told we could pick out laces from the wall, there was no help really to match them up. Now, 4 months later, it looks like the heels that were repaired are not holding up too well and will need to be redone again. My husband walks around a hospital and office all day, he doesn't do labor intensive work and for the $65 we paid (with laces) it is a bit disappointing. I think this is an okay place to go, but for us traveling 35 minutes to get here, we will look into other options next time read more

So first off the only reason this place is getting a 2 is because the quality of the work was pretty good. That's it. Every other aspect was piss poor. I dropped off some shoes back in May for a heel replacement. I was told a specific date in June to pick it up. Date comes and they're not ready they tell me a different date. I call because I'm not going to waste my time again. I give them my ticket number. They look it up and still can't find it. Still not ready this goes on until JULY!!! When I finally call them again and they tell me my shoes were ready 2 weeks into June!!! So I have to rush over because for some reason they were closing earlier than their posted times. I then paid $70 for from what everyone tells me should have been a at most 1 week job. Needless to say I was disappointed with the service. I was told they couldn't find my order because my cell was recorded wrong which I could understand... had I not called several other times with the ticket number. They ruined my favorite pair of flats. Actually ruined. The shoes were gray and they used brown shoe polish. But the biggest problem is that I brought them in because they were starting to get holes in the ball of the foot. Cobblestone took off the stitched sole and very very badly glued on a very hard light brown sole. There is glue all over the flat. This cost me $80. No refund. I brought my boots in to get heel tips replaced. They shipped them OUT of the store because apparently they don't do any work in house. He said he would text me when they were ready. My shoes are always either done on time or earlier. As a matter of fact I had to put a shoe in for repair on Monday this week. I was told it would be ready on Monday. Well after a change in my traveling plans, I needed to pick the shoe up today (Friday) instead of Monday. Before I received the text and email, I had prayed and told Lord, I need my shoe today. Immediately after praying I received the text and email informing me my shoe was ready. Thank you Mr. Shoe Doctor. I drive over 15 miles to come get my shoes, belts, luggage repaired. I've revising my review from 5 stars to 2 and I hope the new owner reads this. Here's the deal...I've been patronizing this business as my go-to place when I need shoe repairs for the past 20 years. So I walk in looking for my usual friendly guy that I've been dealing with for years and instead encounter this glum, goth-looking young girl with black hair working behind the counter. I'm like, WTF, who's this??? She doesn't smile, she doesn't say hello, she doesn't ask, "May I help you?", instead, I have to be the one to speak up and address HER. I walk up to the counter holding a large box with my knee high leather boots and she calls the shoe repair guy from behind the shoes who was eating his lunch to come help me. Before he comes out, she tells me in a dead pan voice to remove my boots from the box. Excuse me?? I don't even know if I'm going to leave them here at this point. I was not getting warm fuzzy feelings from this chick. So the African-American dude comes out from behind the shoe racks and asks what it is I need done. After a while I asked, "Where's the other guy who's worked here for years & years?" Turns out the owner of the Dallas shops died and one of the brothers from Austin took over the business and made some staffing changes and brought this guy up from Austin to run this location. Well, that's all fine and good but he needs to get rid of that chick that has zero customer service skills and get someone behind the counter that knows how to greet customers and crack a smile. It was a little more expensive than I expected but said OK 2 weeks passed and I called a dozen times with no answer. Based on my First and Last time experience, I found them to be GROSSLY overpriced, under delivered in services and it took a month to get my shoes back, with zero communication from them. They charged me approx $45 to replace heel caps on a bootie and the equivalent of a so called shoe shine (at it's best). Zero follow up and no one answers the phone most of the time. The guy who works here is a total jerk the prices are ridiculous. I have been here a couple times just because it is so close to my house. Every time I have been here I have been treated terribly and I have been charged a ton. The last time I was here to get a pair of shoes repaired, specifically new soles and to glue down a loose leather flap. When I got the shoes, the leather flap was not glued down. When I mentioned this to the man who works there, he got angry at me and said that I never asked for that and that it would cost me extra. This bill was already $95! What angers me even more is that I 100% asked for the flap to be glued when I dropped the shoes off. I dont know who he thinks he is kidding. I went in asking for a boot heel repair cause I found this location on Groupon and I asked him if the Groupon would cover such repair and this dude acts like he's never heard of Groupon. He then said it would take 5days to have my heels replaced and an additional 7 days to have them cleaned. Finally took a pair of Cole Haan boots and a vintage Brighton duffle roller in for repair. The boots needed new heels, leather reconditioning, and polish; the luggage piece just needed a new snap closure. The items were repaired promptly. Liked the email notification to let me know the repairs were complete. The boot repair and reconditioning restored the boots to like new condition. The luggage, well a snap is a snap and I'm glad my bag is back to normal. The prices seemed a bit high but this kind of work is a craft and you get what you pay for. Besides, the cost was far less than getting replacements or the process of finding and going to some place a whole lot less convenient. I found both of the representatives to be polite and helpful. So, I am satisfied with the work quality, timeliness, and customer service. For sure will be back when the need arises. read more

I regret taking my shoes there! The employee was extremely RUDE and had horrible customer service. When I went to pick up my shoes I noticed that they had scratches on them that they did not have before. I regret not taking a picture of them before I dropped them off because the man insisted I was lying and I had done that to them. Not only did they have scratches but they were also not cleaned and the heel replacement was done poorly. If you like inaccurate estimates, poor excuses for not meeting expectations, and a lack of communication about your shoes being ready this is the spot for you! We had flown back to Dallas for a funeral and when pulling my wife's shoes from the suitcase found one of the heel caps missing. We took them to Cobblestone to have that one cap replaced. We explained we needed them by the next day and were told they would be ready. We returned to pick them up and found out they had been shipped to another location and would not be back until that weekend. This was just after Christmas and I realize people go on vacation but seems we could have been called (we did leave our number) to suggest we try someplace else. We returned the second time and they were still not ready. Great. We were returning to California the next day. We left our number and address so they could be shipped to us. Three weeks later and no word so we had a relative go check on them. "Oh, here they are." At least they were repaired and our relative can ship them back to us but UGH! what an ordeal. read more

I have been a customer for several years. Shoe repairs are fine - not terrible but certainly not great. I usually take shoes that I care about losing to Deno's but decided to give Cobblestone a try with my Gucci boots. What a bad decision that was! A month later, the boots still are not ready. I received a call ten days ago to notify me that "the factory needs more time." I received no notice that the boots were ready on the rescheduled date so stopped by on a Saturday and was told the driver had car issues and there was no delivery of items from the factory that day. I called the following Monday - still, no boots. I questioned whether they were lost and was met with a curt response that I would receive a text when they were ready, followed by a call from the cashier to ask me to describe the boots. Wtf...I asked about the policy if an item is lost by "the factory" to which the cashier responded that they are not lost and sometimes it "takes a while." It takes a while to polish and resole boots?! Sharing so everyone may learn from my painful lesson and sad, lost boots. read more

This is the only place I have ever repeatedly visited to get my shoes repaired. In the past they have worked miracles on designer shoes I myself was close to giving up on. However, this time was different. I brought 3 pair of shoes in, 2 were great, as was to be expected. My 3rd pair were a pair of canvas sneakers that were a limited release in the size I wear. I spilled a bit of coffee on the tongue and instead of taking it to one of those kiosks at the mall I took it to Cobblestone where I knew I would pay a bit more but it would be worth it. When I was given the sneakers they were splotchy and discolored in several places, I was naturally upset and asked what had happened. A woman went to grab her co-worker from the back and he suggested that I send them in for cleaning once more. I was hesitant, but agreed. I was given a text notification that the work was complete so I go to retrieve them. The man working brings them to me and they are still discolored, splotchy and have a couple pen marks. I ask him why that was and he said he would give me a 10% discount. If I am going to pay for a service I expect the service to be completed in a satisfactory manner. I let him know I wasnt going to be paying for the service and he said "well you aren't leaving here without paying something" I said I was appalled by the quality of service that was being represented and he said "take your shoes and leave" I loved what they have done with my shoes in the past, but unfortunately I cant return knowing that if the service they provide doesn't meet your expectations not only do you not receive an apology but they also expect you to pay for a job badly done. read more

I'm very rough on my dress shoes and have dropped some Off that I didn't think there was a chance in hell of revival but he made them look really good. Overpriced shoe repair! Had the heals replaced on the heel of my tall boots, they guy sold me on having the suede died to make them look better. $90 dollars later, they look good but not for that price. I am a huge fan of customer service, couldn't miss on comment about this one! The guy there is Roger- the nicest person you can ever meet! He has such a positive attitude, is super nice and on top of that did a great job. I dropped my 2 shoes to be repaired, picked them up few days later and they were perfect. He helped me to pick a good color to paint a pair of boots and told me to come back if I had any problem painting them. I mean.."normal", right? But his attitude makes all the difference. I did not pay regular price because of a groupon but noticed the prices are excellent (after being asked for an arm and a leg for the same service in other place). If I could I would give this a 0 star rating. So after waiting over a month for the work to be done on my messenger bag, I asked them just ship it back to the Mockingbird store.  I was tired of waiting and no longer had faith that the work (replacing the tri-glides) would be done correctly.  When I went to get the bag I assumed I would be picking it up, unfixed, and that I would be sending it off to the original maker to get fixed.  I brought it to the store to avoid the mailing fees. I went into the store to pick up the bag and to my surprise the work, which up to that point was unable to be done, magically was done, incorrectly.  The tri-glide replacements were thin, not substantial, and not even close to being a match for the original ones (wide and thick).  If I had brought in a pair of shoes the expectation would be that the new buckles would match.  No one said anything about the glides not matching.  The guy at the store only said that they might have to go with plastic. The  tri-glides did not match and they weren't even sewn into the very end of the straps but a 1/4" from the end.  To top it off, I had to pay the $80 + taxes.  Who charges full price for an incomplete/wrong job? read more

One star is not good enough. I dropped off a pair of boots in November. They were supposed to be ready at the end of the month. I've been stopping by and calling since then. I finally got an answer today- at the end of February!!! They told me that the original price quote I had gotten at the beginning of November wasn't high enough & they weren't going to be completing the work. Meanwhile, they've had the boots for ALL winter, & to top it off they didn't even bother to call me when they decided all of this. Everybody needs a little help with their soul every once in a while. And when they do, experts in the fine craft of shoe repair is necessary. Let's face it, when your feet aren't happy, no one's happy. This teeny, formerly an office to a storage unit is run by two men that almost remind me of the odd couple. Maybe he's in a perennial bad mood, because of their involuntarily change of location across the highway due to the construction for George W's library. The former location as quaint and almost storybook-ish. One is over the top friendly and helpful and the other is your run of the mill, Walter Matheau. Nevertheless, the turn around for your shoes is fast, efficient, and really incredible work. My shoes look brand new every time. Another perk - they call to remind your shoes are ready!
