I dropped off my shoes two weeks ago in preparation to have them ready for my birthday. When I came in (on my birthday) to pick them up (a week later than he said they would be ready) it was a mess. I was inside for 15 minutes before he even knew I was there. I called "hello?" twice with no response. The only reason he saw me is because he was on a phone call and happened to walk past the waiting area. When I told him I was picking up my shoes, he couldn't find them!!! It took 10 minutes of him looking AND me pulling up photos of the shoes before he found them in a bag on the floor. Here's the worst part... HE HADN'T EVEN FIXED THE SHOES!!!!!!!! It was two weeks of my shoes sitting on the floor! He said that it would take him 10 minutes to fix the shoes and asked if I could wait. I did wait, only because I wanted my shoes back and to get OUT OF THERE. While I was inside, another man walked in to pick up his shoes on the day he was told to (Wednesday) by the man who works here. The man who works here said that his shoes would be ready NEXT WEEK despite telling the man they would be ready today. Unprofessional, untimely, and overall THE worst experience I've had with any repair shop. If you need shoes repaired, I suggest you go elsewhere. I will not be returning. read more

Best shoe repair in town! Every repair has been like new quality. I wouldn't trust my shoes to any one else.

Quality craftsmanship! John pays incredible attention to detail and it's very apparent he cares about his work. I first visited his business looking for a boot repair on a pair that was visibly scratched at the toes. He suggested a half sole to prevent further damage and repaired the heel. Work is excellent and worth the price. I've since returned to his shop to repair a western boots in need of TLC. read more

AMAZING work! highly recommend and i will be using this business many times in the future. i brought in a pair of vintage roper boots that i had worn until they were falling apart. i brought them to him for a half sole replacement and nothing more because i was on a tight budget. took a couple of weeks but when i picked them up, i was in shock. the boots looked even better than when i bought them and i am so thrilled with his work. he had cleaned, conditioned and polished them for me as well. he made my favorite boots like new again. he definitely exceeded my expectations ten fold. very kind, helpful and skilled. you can tell he genuinely cares for his work and his customers. read more

Five stars! I've been going to Ventura's for years for repairs to leather bags and belts and shoes. Today I went in to drop off a new pair of shoes that needed to be stretched a little because they rubbed the back of my heels. The gentleman behind the counter said "no problem!" and took them back to his workshop and fixed then right then and there! I tried them on and they fit perfectly! The man is magic! I went to pay him and he said there was no charge because I was a good customer the repair only took a second. I tucked a $10 in the tip jar anyway. Just wanted to share this recommendation for a gem of a person and local small business. read more

Took a pair of Doc Marten work boots in to have a cracked sole repaired. The owner's broken English explained he would trim the sole down on both boots and add new soles and heels. He super-glued the cracked sole and slapped on two heel covers and charged $75.00. The glued cracked within 2 days. Not a person that keeps or properly communicates the job scope. Beware. read more

Recently bought my first pair of leather sandals and wanted to learn how to properly care for them. John got me a conditioner and explained exactly how to apply it and answered all my questions. He was really friendly and I loved the shop and the funny signs he had hanging up. read more

Great job widening a pair of leather boots. Honest service, provides you with actual expectations and doesn't rush the work or give you unrealistic time line for repair. I will use this shop moving forward. He did a good job and is friendly, kind with a good attitude. Another shoe repair on Mockingbird I was using previously but not anymore. I have been a customer for many years and a couple of times my shoes have not been ready when promised. Today, they were not ready. I ask WHY he did not call me to let me know. No reply.....and the excuse was that the machine was broken but strangely enough 30 minutes later he calls to tell me the shoes are ready unfortunately, I had already left town and could not pick them up. I wanted to wear these shoes on my trip out of town. When I did finally pick them up, I asked for a discount or something for my inconvenience, he refused saying he has 1000,s of customers and sometimes shoes are not ready. I say, he now has 1 less customer!! The owner is inflexible, inconsiderate and rude. read more

I have been a customer for years. The work is always excellent. When my dad was ill with cancer, almost weekly they would punch new holes in his belts for no charge. Friends send me their shoes to have repaired by Ventura's. I have also had purses restored to like new condition. read more
