The older Greek man working the front was a creep. He fixed my dance shoes and I asked how much it would cost and he said a hug was all he needed. He then pulled me in and wouldn't let me go and whispered that if I ever wanted to come dance for him to let him know. He misinterpreted my profession, thinking that I was a stripper and I am not. I was so uncomfortable and felt very unsafe, seeing as though we were the only two in the shop anything could've happened. Be careful. read more

Drove out here from Oak Lawn to have a pair of nice men's dress shoes stretched after reading the good reviews. The shoes fit 7-8 years ago, but became painful to wear if walking around awhile. I think they got an extra .25-.5 size into them without changing the external appearance at all. Price was very reasonable and it made all the difference in how they feel. Generally, the intent for reviews on Yelp is to award or condemn businesses for the service level and more particularly, workmanship received. Unfortunately this review is more condemning than rewarding. Took a shoe in to add some height or inches on the sole, it would have been no more than 20-25 minutes of actual hand work. When I asked for an estimate, there was no reply and continued to fill a service ticket, but I was persistent and asked how much. Mind you, it is 20-25 minutes of work for $66.50 plus tax!!! That equates $266/hr! Seriously? Talk about robbery! Has the service industry gone insane? read more

This man really, really knows what he's doing. It's one thing to have replaced the leather soles of my Blake-stitched loafers, but he finished it with flawless closed-channel stitching! My loafers are unlined suede, and made such that if the cobbler makes a mistake sewing on the new sole, it's really hard to hide. The repair was flawless, and to be frank I would have expected to pay at least 50% more for a repair anywhere near this quality. Skills like these aren't being passed down to new generations of craftsmen anymore, in an age where shoes are more likely to be thrown out than repaired. I took a pair of black dressy sandals that I've had for many years. They are very comfortable and even though they were starting to show wear, I decided to get the loose strap repaired. He said they would be ready on Saturday. The owner said $8.66 and I said "ok" and started to leave. Again he said the price and then I realized that I would need to prepay. There wasn't a sign stating that was the policy and I didn't have a problem paying in advance. It was just funny that he kept repeating the price! I paid and put my claim check in my wallet and came back on Saturday to pick up and my shoe was as good as new! I would definitely bring any items here for repair in the future. read more

I got a new job and splurged on a pair of all leather cowboy boots. Nice enough to wear in an office environment, since I've been wearing steel toe boots at my last job for quite a while. I loved the way they looked, but I discovered after wearing them for about 20 minutes, they were just too tight across the top of my toes. After reading the reviews, I took them in to Coit Boot and Shoe Repair, and the nice gentleman behind the counter, assured me that it would be no problem to get them fitting and comfortable. I had no idea how much such work would cost and was very pleasantly surprised that it was only gonna cost me about $16. And what better was it only took him four days. He gave me a little card to remind me to come back on Friday, which I did, and they were already for me even though I got there right after he opened. I've been wearing the boots all day and loving the way they feel. When I got there, there was a former customer of his who had moved away, that happened to be in the area, and he had stopped in, just to say hi. I bought a LV bag online and the condition was great but the smell was concerning with a mix of smoke and must. About a year and a half ago I found this shop in my search for a good shoe repairman. Apparently I inadvertently stumbled upon a wizard, because no matter what I bring this guy, I haven't found anything he cannot fix. I've brought him anything from boots that need a little cleanup, to dress shoes that look like they were worn by Usain Bolt during a marathon or seven. Nothing has phased him in the slightest. Sometimes I'll ask, "I know this looks bad, but can you fix it?" In extreme cases I get a sly "we shall see," but I've seen the magic this warlock can work, and I never have any doubts. His sorcery is not limited to men's footwear either... one time, I took my girlfriend to the 5th anniversary of Community Brewing company, and, long story short, she mistakenly wore suede (I don't know what they are called) women shoes, and they got drenched in beer and mud. This enchanter cleaned them up, and my girlfriend remarked that they looked better than they had before the event! I've attached my most recent attempt to thwart his supernatural gifts, but he has bested me yet again. I cannot recommend this shop enough.
