I went for dinner on a Tuesday. It wasn't too busy at that time and we got right in. The environment was pretty and peaceful. It was decorated for Valentine's Day already. We started with pork rib appetizer. It was very good, but tiny. Four small ribs and there were four of us, so we got a taste. We each got different meals and everyone enjoyed what they got. I passed around my Chicken Masala because I had enough to share. Everyone else liked it as well. It was delicious. The wide noodles tasted freshly made. Only thing I didn't enjoy was my drink. I ordered just cranberry and club soda. It tasted funky like the juice had fermented or something. They offered to replace it, but I declined. I didn't have to pay for it. This review is for the "$5 burger special" on Sundays from 3-6pm in the bar. Upon going, one would think this is a good deal, however it isn't. It is a build a burger and the sheet can be shown below. Anything you want on it costs extra...including a tomato slice for $1.50! Fries are $1, but the portion is so disappointing...smaller than a McDonalds small fry. I would rather have to buy more fries for $5 and split with a friend or something. Everyone liked the burgers, but we would have rather just paid for a sandwich meal and gotten a substantial portion for $11-15. I was also surprised it took ~45 min for the food to come out and there were not many ppl in the restaurant. In fact, we got front row parking outside which NEVER happens. I'm giving 3 stars because I have not experienced the other food in the dining area or the brunch . We will not be returning for the "burger deal" though. read more

The last two times I have been here, no server checked on the meal. Twice, now I had to get my own check because the staff disappears. The cooks (not chefs) can't seem to cook a burger medium. Once it came bloody and the other well done. I don't know why people say the decor is nice. It is filthy. They keep mouse traps in the dinning room, right next to where they sit you. I have sat in the same table before and there was no mouse trap. Which means that they now have a mouse/rat problem. Yikes! The curtains have gross stains and don't look like they have been washed in 25 years. This place could use a deep clean and new paint. Today, I found a smooched fly on the inside of the window. I mean couldn't they clean the window they killed it and before they sat paying customers? The food is overpriced. The drinks are gross and not worth trying. The service is slow to horrible. I have been asked to come back to be treated for dinner. Unless they clean the place up, I don't think I will. What a nice restaurant. Lovely layout and design. The spinners game got rained out so my friends and I can here for a casual dinner. Wonderful menu with lots of variety (veg & GF). We really enjoyed our Valentines Dinner. Service and atmosphere were great and the food was outstanding. We started with a Beef Carpaccio appetizer followed by a Strawberry Salad and Cheese Bread. All were excellent. We both ordered Filet Mignon cooked medium rare for dinner. The steaks were perfectly prepared and the sides were excellent, as well. I had my steak with a Jalapeño Butter which was a very nice addition. We finished with Cheesecake and Strawberry Shortcake desserts to top off a perfect meal. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

I was told the Southern Fried Chicken was the best fried chicken around. The wife and I decided to use a Grubhub gift card to check it out. It was good. They put it the extra effort of frying their chicken after cooking it using the sous vide method. The result is very moist fried chicken. Maybe too moist?The sous vide method tends to yield barely done chicken. My wife would not even try the pink tinged meat. The sriracha honey dipping sauce was very tasty though. My wife had the Faroe Islands Summer Salmon. She was not satisfied. Perhaps eating in the restaurant would have made for a better experience (and justified the cost) but, for take out, it was ok. read more

This review is simply for the bar but it's a great bar. I was visiting my brother who lives down the street and we stopped in for a couple beers when I arrived in town. He had mentioned that the food was excellent and one of his favorites in the area but we never ended up back for dinner (busy trip). Knowing that I'm a pretty craft beer fanatic, he knew we would find some good ones on tap here and we did. The selection was pretty impressive covering local brews, out to the west coast, and I believe there were a handful of international brews as well. Plenty of favorites like Southern Tier, Bells, and Lagunitas were all represented. Don't overlook the bottle selection either. Plenty of common beers lining the shelf up high but there were definitely some rare bottles up there as well. Whenever I'm out of town, I'm trying to find beers I might not otherwise come across and the bartender was great about letting me sample and find the beers I was looking for. She was patient and knowledgeable plus she served us one last beer while she was finishing up instead of throwing us out to the curb... bonus points for that! read more

We've been to this restaurant several times in the last year, and the food quality keeps us coming back. Price is kind of high, but you certainly get your money's worth. Drink selection is fantastic. I haven't been to the bar, but their 'special' drink list is impressive. Service is usually very friendly, and we haven't run into any issues yet. Parking is basically non-existent, so you'll have to find a spot in the area. This place is most certainly worth a visit. I'd also recommend it for a special occasion. read more

I've eaten here on a number of occasions, both dinner and lunch service. Lunch is my favorite time to visit, as it is usually a little more quiet in the dining area as well. The entryway to the restaurant has a fireplace going and lots of seating in front of it during the colder months, and some outdoor seating with standing outdoor heaters going in the milder months. Not necessarily an ultra-hip ambiance going on here, like some of the newer restaurants in the area, it's more of a classic steakhouse thing. I have heard some people describe the decor as dated but I think personally it's warm and casual. Lunch portions are pretty large and the fish here is delicious. Steak is cooked just as I order every time. No complaints about the food, it's standard classic American fare. My favorite visit to Cobblestones was easily my brother's wedding, where they rented out the top two floors and had a great walking appetizer/cocktail reception with totally delicious bites and bar service on both floors. It was such a cozy, relaxed, and fun atmosphere for a very reasonable price that I wish I had done the same for my own wedding. I've recommended their function hall services to lots of people since that; it was such an enjoyable experience and one of the most fun receptions I've ever been to. read more

Interesting historical building, and hefty menu. I really wanted to go to their other restaurant, Moonstones, but there is no way to get reservations. Cobblestones clam chowder is home made with that bacon back drop that a true yankee kitchen can pull off, well balanced between cream and broth, good clam chunks. We also tried the mushroom flatbread - very flavorful. Fish and chips is a decent portion, good, but nothing serious to write home about. But the dissappointment came when we ordered the bone in rib eye that had a honey chili glaze. We asked NOT to have the glaze and unfortunately they MARINADE the beautiful piece of meat in this stuff. I don't want "sweet ribeye" leave alone one with a bone in... Its a 2.5 not a 3 for killing a great piece of meat with a subpar marinade. Disrespectful! Very nice staff, interesting building, GREAT martinis. Food, hit and miss, choose wisely. read more

We have been talking about going to Cobblestone for years and had never made it. Finally went last Saturday night. It was different from what we expected (we thought it was more steak house.) This is definitely an event place. Perfect for birthdays, parties etc. They also advertise a lot of sports event's are three floors so it would be fun to watch a Pat's game there. Some might think it pricey but the quality justifies the price. My sister had the scallops in ginger sauce and raved and raved. Felt they were the best scallops she has ever had...and that is saying a lot. The service was terrific. As is the management. We had called ahead one evening and phone had said yes they were open. We arrived to find they were closed for summer vacation. We let them know via email and they sent us a gift certificate. That was nice and probably good business as we will be repeat customers. read more

If I could give them 3 and a half stars I would. They aren't a 5, and they are just short of a 4, but better than a 3. Their service was well enough, there were tons of young employees, which you don't often see. The manager or owner even greeted me on one occasion. Every employee was friendly and fairly knowledgeable about the menu. The menu lacks detail, I don't like vinaigrettes or pickles, and none were labeled as the ingredients on the 3 items I ordered. First visit was brunch, I am a growing boy so I sat down and ordered a waffle and some sort of egg thing called a, "Chef's Strata." The Chef's Strata came with seasonal vegetables, so your mileage may vary. The Chef's Strata was hot, the waffle was cold, and the salad had a dressing on it I didn't like. I didn't complain, so I can't blame the staff, I just put my big boy pants on and ate my vegetables last while holding my breath. On my 2nd time, while strolling through the neighborhood, the steak smell was so good I had to give it one more try. When I sat at the bar the smell disappeared, since I'm currently fasting from meat that was OK. The new environment made me compromise with a Salmon burger. The burger was awesome, the lettuce and tomatoes were on the side. And behold a few slices of pickles were afloat upon the other garnishing. Pickle juice didn't seep through the bun since they haven't mated, or inseminate their friends due to the lack of its virility. Again, pickles weren't on the menu, so how it managed to stealth its way on my plate intrigues me. I would give them an A+ for the service and the decor. They are so professional, that you don't want to complain. The menu just needs a little better flushing out on the actual ingredients, fancy restaurants tend to make such compromises, to their disservice. read more

We walked in on a cool Fall Saturday to the bar side. It was before dinner time and the bar was starting to pick up and get busy. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were really friendly. They offer a good amount of beer on draft. Our bartender let us try out a few pumpkin beers and the autumn doughnut rum drink before we placed our orders. We got the onion peels, pretzel and calamari. They came out of the kitchen really fast. All were tasty and served in cute stands or nice plating. It's been a while since I've been to Cobblestones, but we decided to go there for dinner before the show at Lowell Auditorium last night. It did not disappoint. We were seated quickly, which was great because we had to make the show at 730. The place was packed, but the waitress was attentive and took our drink and food order right away. The food was delicious, I ordered the salmon over ramen noodles. We were out in time for a pleasant walk to the Auditorium for a great show. Side note, while we ate in the dining room last night, I've always thought that Cobblestones has one of the coolest bars in the area - very comfortable environment with a deep history in the Mill City. read more

We had a 30th reunion here on Friday night. We used the 3rd floor which has a really good space for groups under 100. With it's own bar and pool table, it was a great social set up. The food was awesome, passed apps and a great pasta dish. The service was great, even though we were a small group we had a bartender and 2 servers (great team). My husband and I went to Cobblestones in Lowell today. We had the garlic bread/Fusion mozzarella bread with a magnificent sauce that we dipped it into. (Loved the sauce) The Clam Chowder was very good. We were looking forward to the Slow roasted BBQ Ribs. THEY WERE ALL OUT! The waitress informed us of the special which was pulled pork quesadillas sounded wonderful. My husband and I ordered them and Steak tips with french fries and a decorative onion rings above the tips. UN-NECESSARY. The Pulled Pork has so much Spicy Green Peppers that it drowned out the Pork taste. It was inedible. Throat burning! The steak tips were okay, nothing great. Dessert: Vanilla Creme Brulee - My favorite dessert was decorated nicely with strawberries and Blueberries, nice touch. The waitress was nice and attentive. The food forgettable. read more

Holly and Cobblestones did such a great job and everyone who came out really enjoyed their time! The bartender was amazing as well as the staffs. There were plenty of food and it was very delicious! Stopped in on Father's Day for dinner with my son looking for a nice meal to finish the day off. Hadn't been in awhile but had fond memories of good food during past visits. Started on a down note as there were no tables available as we didn't have a reservation. We were however, offered a table in the bar which, since we were hungry we accepted. That turned out to be a mistake. To start we ordered some oysters on the half shell. The oysters were from Wellfleet but rather small and only mildly cool. Definitely disappointing. But much more bothersome was the fact that the large oyster platter and the small side plates were left in the middle of the table for far too long. In fact, they remained there until the entrees were brought out, resulting in an awkward exchange. Service was average at best, but to be fair it was the bar area. On the other hand the scallops were priced at $27, so perhaps more attention should be paid to the experience. The scallops were just ok, lacking much flavor and the desired hard sear. They looked uniformly white instead of nicely browned and caramelized. Mashed potatoes were lumpy, grainy and in need of butter and seasoning. The other entree, mac'n cheese, was not a good rendition, lacking both creaminess and cheesiness. Overall a disappointing dinner. Perhaps it was just a busy night, I will have to give it another try as I am a fan all that downtown Lowell has to offer and we all have a bad day. read more

5 stars for the bar, 3 stars for the dining room. The food's the same all around. And it's all quite good. I've had the fried calamari before here, very good. Girlfriend had the veggie burger, good but a bit too much cumin/tumeric/curry flavor for her taste buds (I loved it, and I'm a carnivore). I had the salmon burger, good salmon cake burger, with more burger than breading so you don't feel ripped off. Great flavor. And the truffle fries are on point. Drinks, great selection. I just had beer, but they had a great base selection and a good dozen rotating unique beers on tap. Well done. Service, fantastic. Sophia made this experience so great that I was actually inspired to leave a review. Friendly, great banter, and I loved her knowledge of beers and how she knew the local area and knew regular customers. Ambiance, the bar's great. A nice dark wooded bar, dim lights, a fireplace outside, a smattering of TVs with some music being played; honestly it was a great feel. Ambiance of the dining room is less great. It feels... dated? Old. Like my grandmother would like it, except my grandmother likes going to Foxwoods, gambling, and flirting with 20 year olds (still undecided if that's badass or worrisome...) My two cents is the dining room needs some updating. Keep the classic look of a nice, historic building, sure. But get a designer in there to use the space better.
