One of my favorite parts about staying in Brewster every year! Fresh and delicious food at great prices. We had the lobster roll (cold) that had mounds of lobster without any "fluff" or "filler" that some places have. The clam strip plate that was light and not at all chewy! In their defense, Cobie's was not our original destination. Poor planning made this a second choice when post Labor Day hours shut us out of our first choice (Kate's). Convenient location and an article in a magazine had us thinking this would be a suitable replacement. The menu had all the Cape Cod standbys, and some local beers so we thought we were safe. My sister was jonesing for a piece of fried fish and we both had been craving onion rings. She decided on a Cape Cod Reuben, and an order of onion rings. I planned on mooching off her rings, got a beer and clam chowder of my own. First impression was that the beer was cold and tasty. Steep downhill after that. The sandwich was on a ciabatta roll, which would have been fine if the fish could stand up to it. The "fish" was an envelope-thin slice of something that was buried inside a thin breading. It was sitting atop a bland, nondescript dollop of slaw. On top of the "fish" was a slice of Swiss (almost the same width as the "fish", and a "tartar sauce" that the ratio of mayonnaise to other ingredients was in the ballpark of 99:1. It would be hard for them to convince us that the "fish" was made on premises. Inexcusable on Cape Cod to serve such drivel. Sandwich was mostly thrown away. As a frequent visitor to Cape Cod for 50 years, we have come to crave the unique thin-sliced, subtly seasoned, golden crispy onion rings unique to this region. We have gotten such "rings to rule them all" all over the cape-some better than others but all top-notch and hard to find outside of cape cod (certainly in Virginia where I live). I assured my sister that of course Cobie's would have such onion rings. The "clam shack" vibe led me to believe we were safe. Nope. The onion rings were a thicker variety, cooked well (golden brown) but hadn't been seasoned. After the devastation of discovering we were not to get the rings of our dreams, these had to be outstanding to make up for our disappointment. They were not. While they were far better than the sandwich, they were at best "ok" after a packet of salt was added. Our fault for assuming we would get the rings we wanted. Their fault for no seasoning. Sister thought for sure rings weren't made on premises although the menu called them "hand cut" so who knows. Clam chowder was not remarkable in any way. As Cape Cod chowders go, it was quite disappointing. Very thick, white base with small bits of potato, limited clam. Had a faint butter taste which I love, but that was where the overall flavor ended. Best part of the meal was the beer and the large cup of ketchup we were given which helped a lot with the onion rings. While the onion rings and chowder were disappointing, there is no excuse at all for that sandwich. They should be ashamed of themselves for serving that. Maybe the other stuff on the menu is better but we will not go back to check read more

What luck we happened by this place! Great tasting seafood, a comfortable outdoor eating area, and the nicest staff ever! We had a Cape Cod Reuben, lobster bisque, and a clam roll. All were really good. But the clams were phenomenal! What really impressed us was that we had asked if they knew anyone, who served cranberry ice cream. They didn't know of any but gave us the names of about 5 other shops we could check with this week. No sooner had we started eating our meals than Pat brought out 2 dishes of cranberry soft serve that they had just made. He asked us to try it and let them know what we thought. We felt like judges on the Food Neywork! Our verdict was that they should add it to their menu, and he said they would! We ate at Cobie's 4 times because it was near our hotel, it had a kids menu, and the food was good. The hot lobster roll was standard size and it was tasty and fresh. Broiled halibut was the highlight for me, well seasoned and fresh. Clam chowder was average, same with haddock. Fried shrimp was good as well but pretty standard for the area. Ice cream portions are huge but cash only. In terms of Covid preparation everyone who worked there was wearing a mask but I did not see much table cleaning as people got up and left. I really enjoyed Cobie's! Sometimes, it just seems like the most unassuming places are the best. The ambiance is fun and the food is very solid. Also, it is quite reasonably priced. I ordered the fish & chips, and my friend got clam chowder in a bread bowl and onion rings. I loved the fish! Light, crispy, and oh-so-fresh. Not a huge amount of food, but definitely enough for a meal. The fries were the least inspiring thing at our table. Not horrible by any means, but just quite mediocre. I also had quite a few of my friends onion rings, and very much enjoyed them. The batter was flavorful and the onions were not super chewy, which can be annoying when you can't break through the onion itself (and are left with no onion inside the batter). I did not have any of the chowder, but my friend seemed to enjoy it. (Tip: I went out on a limb and mixed ketchup with tartar sauce, about 70-30 ratio - NAILED IT! I'd recommend dipping your fried seafood) After dinner, we went back to the side counter, where they serve ice cream. I got the lobster tracks, which was REALLY good. Can't really remember how it was different than moose tracks, but I didn't really care since I was definitely in the mood for that kind of ice cream. Cobie's is a very popular restaurant around the Brewster area. The owner and employees are very friendly and the prices here are probably some of the most fair on the cape especially for fresh seafood. I always love a good frappe from this place. They used to have an old fashioned milk shake machine and those were even better but they are still good. I have to say the one thing I don't like is the onion rings. They are very thick and not the typical stringy onion rings the cape is known for. Otherwise this place is great. Good prices, friendly staff, and fast service. read more

I came to cape cod to try out Cobie's onion rings, I was told it was the best. I ordered fish and chips and a side of onion rings. I was disappointed with the plate ordered, it was pricey and did not leave to my expectations. I tried out other restaurants with similar servings and was debating between the two on which one is better, my rating criteria included the following: customer service, taste, sitting area, etc.. So I decided to try the shrimp plate with sweet potato fries and a side of onion ring, to drink I ordered orange juice, for my wife and I, the ordered was over $50.00. Again, I was very disappointed, two strikes and Don't think a third try is not worth, the cole slaw the first time was spoiled and the second time tasted nasty, 3 stars was just for the onion rings. read more

REVIEW UPDATE: This place is always popping in the summer and serves really tasty fried seafood! I recently stopped by with my girlfriend and we had quite the appetite and got the Fisherman's platter (or something like that) which was a mix of fried scallops, fish, shrimp, and other shellfish. This time it was phenomenal and not greasy whatsoever!!! You get the best of everything! After scarfing that down completely we had just enough room for ice cream which is conveniently a window around the corner from the kitchen ordering window. My girlfriend got the special of the day which was a fruit infused one with chocolate jimmies on it. I went with the classic coffee flavor. We both fell in love and eating here was a perfect way to closeout a busy day of exploring the Cape. Full to the brim, we reluctantly left but were so pleased Cobie's still delivers a quick bite that isn't overly greasy or lacking in flavor. This is the best place on the Cape for quick seafood, a burger, and ice cream. In the summer, the lines can be long but they have an efficient system to accommodate the hungriest visitor. This place is a basic burger, fish spot but the difference is that everything is fresh and lightly prepared. Another plus is that it is right of of the CaPe Cod Rail Trail in Brewster right before you get to Nickerson State Park. This place is definitely worth a stop with you family. The quality is excellent and the service is efficient and very friendly. There are lots of outdoor seating and there is sun protection so you won't bake on a really hot day. Very clean restroom out back and the prices are reasonable compared to some of the spots further up the Cape Cod Rail Trail. read more

More fried seafood! Yup, that is cape cod ha ha. But this place is clearly very popular since they have a huge parking lot, and there is almost always a line of some sort either waiting for fried seafood or waiting for ice cream, which I think is the theme of cape cod if you don't bring stuff to grill yourself! But this place I feel is a little pricier than some of the other places, especially for what you get. I think that JTs up the street is definitely a little more affordable and it seemed a little fresher too. Their huge outdoor patio/deck is pretty nice to be able to sit in and they also offer a few types of sauces for your dipping pleasure, but after seeing our bill for our fried oysters and fries it was definitely more money than a person on a student stipend likes to spend. And I am all about spending what little money I have on good food, but I wish this place hadn't been quite so pricey....Oh well. You live, you eat fried seafood at cape cod and you learn! read more
