The restaurant is very popular and doesn't accept reservations, so you can expect a wait during weekends/summer, especially with a larger group. However, the restaurant is very large so there are a lot of seating options. I visited with a group of seven and we waited around 40 minutes on a Saturday night. We were able to sit/stand around one of the bars and have a drink while we waited and we had great service at the bar and later at our table. We really enjoyed the fisherman's platter, clams casino, shrimp bruschetta. Some of my friends tried the risotto, but I found it a bit bland and preferred the other items. We started with the fried calamari and it was one of the best preparations I've had. It came with diced tomatoes and banana pepper rings which added a nice freshness and a little kick. For mains, the baked cod was excellent. The panko crust was crispy, the fish was fresh, and it came with well seasoned mashed potatoes and vegetables. The Fisherman's Platter was also fantastic. It came with fried cod, shrimp, scallops, clam strips, and two sides. I picked buttered rice and mashed potatoes, both of which were really good. Everything was fried perfectly and it also came with tartar sauce and a spicy sauce. It's a huge portion, so I'd recommend sharing it with another person. The kids fish and chips were good. The kids mac and cheese was the biggest disappointment. It tasted like Kraft or something very similar and felt severely overpriced for what it was. Someone else ordered the Crunchy Fish Sandwich which looked really good, although I didn't get to try it. For drinks I had the Citrus Mule and didn't really care for it. Stopped in yesterday for a late lunch/ early dinner- probably the optimal time to eat while avoiding crowds on the Cape! The BEST clam chowder I have ever had. The chowder has the perfect potato to clam ratio, well seasoned and did not taste fishy. I can see why it has won awards! My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich, but commented that the chicken was too thin, like a pounded down chicken cutlet. My Brie burger was in hockey puck territory for asking medium, but it was alright. The burger and the marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks had an overpowering taste of garlic and onion powder, which are my go- to seasonings when cooking, but it tasted off to me. Stopped into Captain Parker's Pub and everything we ordered was fantastic. I did the hot lobster roll with sweet potato wedge fries and coleslaw plus the clam chowder combo, and my son had the children's fish and chips. The portions were very generous and we both left full with food to spare. We started with the onion rings, which came out as a big basket super crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. My hot lobster roll was loaded with tender lobster and perfectly buttery, and the sweet potato wedge fries were a great match. The clam chowder was thick, flavorful, and packed with clams, absolutely living up to their reputation. My son really enjoyed his fish and chips from the kids' menu -- crunchy on the outside, moist inside, and plenty of fries. Service was excellent from start to finish. The ambiance was casual and lively but not too loud, with a classic pub feel that still felt very family-friendly. We went to lunch because it seems to be a requirement here on the Cape to go the Captain Parker's! I am glad we did but a few notes. The place was crazy busy at 1;45pm (25 min wait although we got seated right away). I ordered a bowl of clam chowder which we delicious and so much, I brought half of it home. There would be no way I could eat that and anything else! My husband got the fried fish cod sandwich, the fish was cooked perfectly but it was no frills, one wilted of lettuce and tartar sauce. He upgraded to onion rings which were good. We'd go back for lunch, order only the chowdah and call it a day. Fun experience though! read more

I just got home from my annual pilgrimage to Cape Cod and of course it requires a stop at Captain Parker's. They did their usual bang up job., the service was friendly, the food was fresh and tasty, and the price was reasonable.. I left with a free souvenir when I noticed what was written on the glass, my favorite expression when traveling the Mass Pike. Oh and I saw the patch from my department that I had donated a few years ago,Donate a patch and get a free pint.. their collection is truly outstanding. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a patch, not that I advocate, swinging cats, dead or alive, it's just an expression, I'm already looking forward to next year's trip. read more

They have a much more extensive menu and it is fabulous. We ordered the shrimp tacos and the short rib sandwich and both were delicious. The shrimp tacos were stuffed with shrimp! The short rib sandwich had a great deal of flavor and the onion rings were cooked to perfection. The outside patio is shaded and very comfortable for eating outside. We sat in the bar on the opening night of the NFL when the Pats were playing as well as the Redsox, and neither was on. First time ever I left less than 20% gratuity but I couldn't get myself to leave anymore. I was referred here by a friend but sorry, I won't be back. Eight here Sunday night with the family food was absolutely delicious. Haven't been in years because we don't get to the Cape that often so we always go to our local favorites. This being one of them and again they did not disappoint nice variety for everybody in the family there was 11 of us two children, one in a highchair 15 years old. Anyone who is leaving a bad review here either came on an off night or was likely pissed off about the incredibly long wait times. This is one of the most popular restaurants on Cape Cod, so the prime dinner or lunch times are going to be very crowded most days of the week. This is because, while there is nothing new or inventive going on here in regard to the cuisine, the food is among the tastiest and most consistent I've had on Cape Cod. First of all, a lot of restaurants on Cape Cod claim to have the best clam chowder and show awards from various dubious advertising magazines and papers. Captain Parker's has what I believe is the best clam chowder I've ever tasted. It is thick and creamy and there are a decent amount of real clams in it. The stuff you buy in the grocery store with a Captain Parker's label is night and day away from the real deal served in the restaurant. I always get the fried scallops here. They are always big, fresh tasting and you get more of them here, even in the smaller of the 2 portion options, than anywhere else I've been. The lobster roll is fantastic ....not quite as good as Brax Landing, which gets my #1 spot for lobster rolls ... but worth ordering, despite the steep price. The only real bummer here (besides the 45 min. - 1.5 hour wait times during busy hours) is the side dishes. They are pretty uninspired and blah. The best option is to upgrade to the mashed potatoes. The fries are okay ... Coleslaw is basically cabbage with a squirt of red wine vinegar ... steamed veggies are gross. If you want consistent Cape Cod pub food, Captain Parker's is one of the best spots. The crowds agree. Anyone who grew up in the 1980's knows that old school wood paneled pub-style restaurants like this are disappearing fast. This one is a total time warp back to better and more simpler times when family dining experiences were consistent and fresh. read more

I really enjoyed it without any changes. No salt, no crackers, no butter. I can easily see why this herbaceous, creamy chowder with nicely cubed potatoes and plentiful clams has won awards. The oysters were briney and meaty. I was like this is going well. Then I got my prime rib I requested be medium rare. Was this medium in the middle and medium well at the edges? Yes. Was I easily able to cut and eat it? No. Is it a good thing there was plenty of au jus because the meat was too dry and chewy without it? Yes. Captain Parker's is a must go when you're in Hyannis/Yarmouth. I'm not exaggerating when I say the Clam Chowder is the best I have had in my entire life. The flavor is perfect in every way. I ordered the Traditional Fried Fish sandwich with a side of Onions Rings. The sandwich was very flavorful but was extremely thin. I was expecting a solid sized piece of fish, especially for being in the area it's located in. I decided to do the $3 up charge to switch to the onion rings instead of fries and it was a mistake. I only got around six of them and you could tell they were frozen and not homemade. Which is disappointing for a restaurant that has won awards for it's chowder. I also got to try a French Dip sandwich which was a special for the weekend. It was phenomenal. The Au Jus that came with it was one of the best I've had. The meat was tender and the bread was very fresh. The restaurant had a very unique vibe to it, not something you'll see often at other restaurants. In all the years we've lived right around the corner from Captain Parker's, we've only had the occasional takeout from there until just recently. We took our dear neighbor lady there for lunch, and sat in the glassed-in addition - lovely view of Parker River as it passes under Rte 28. Our server was undeniably pleasant and wore his smile like a uniform. Typical bustling Cape seafood eatery, this place has established a reputation for deliciously prepared local seafood and families flock there. The margaritas were refreshingly tasty and the fried shrimp and crispy fries awesome. Thankfully I requested crispy fries, as the default appeared to be thick, steak-like fries. We didn't care for the cole slaw - it was pretty much yellow, no green in it, and robustly thick. However, the tastiness of the onion rings and calamari augmented the relaxing view and great 'ritas, and nothing could outshine the tasty shrimp and fries. The menu prices seemed a tad high, but then, the place does draw in the folks, so . . . The ambiance was a bit too touristy for us - many large parties with little ones (perhaps we've passed by it so many times because the lot was always jammed with cars jockeying for spaces?), the cavernous entry into the main rooms was tight, the seater was stern and never smiled or uttered words of welcome - my rating would be 4.5 if halves were permitted, but I don't think they are. I prefer smaller, less chaotic venues - delicious fried seafood is not a rarity on the Cape. read more

I have been hearing good things about this restaurant so during a recent trip to Cape Cod I went ahead and gave it a try. I was there during a rather busy time so it was almost until I was seated but it was well worth the wait. They have everything here from appetizers, sandwiches and burgers to steak and seafood. I decided to go with the baked stuffed shrimp. It was a good sized portion and very fresh and delicious tasting. The dining room was clean and well cared for. The noise level was a bit loud but that was only due to the fact that the restaurant was very busy and full. The wait staff was very attentive, coming by my table to make sure I was enjoying my meal and refilling my water glass as needed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT CAPTAIN PARKER'S We were just at Captain Parker's and wanted to sit at the bar, have an appetizer and a drink, and take our meals to go. We'd had a long day and were more than willing to spend the money, enjoy a quick bite, and turn the seats over so the restaurant could refill them and make more money. Unfortunately, the bartender was extremely rude and made it very clear that they wanted nothing to do with us. We were treated as though we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. Restaurants should be grateful for their customers and make people feel welcome -- not make them feel like they're a problem. After this experience, we will never go back to Captain Parker's. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, we went to Spanky's in Hyannis for lunch, and it was PHENOMENAL! The food was great, and the bartenders were warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to have us there. THAT is how customers should be treated. Save your money and skip Captain Parker's. I heard of this place from a friend of mine and what a busy venue. Loved the inside bar and a beautiful back bar plus and outside bar as well. Very clean and organized. The waitstaff was fantastic and the bartenders as well. The food came out hot with a short wait time. Matt, Chris and Scotty were absolutely hilarious. I ordered a clam chowder, really delicious. Hot and thick. I should have ordered a bowl. Then i ordered a 12 oz sirloin steak special, medium rare. With veges and red bliss potatoes. For dessert was a Bundt cake with gelato. To start, we ordered the Clams Casino, a half-dozen top neck clams on the half shell, filled with garlic-herb butter and topped with crisp bacon. They were nicely broiled with good flavor. We followed that with the Stuffed Quahog, a local specialty featuring a large clam stuffed with house-made chorizo and linguica. It was rich and flavorful. For the main course, we tried the Fried Scallops, which comes with fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. We asked for a side of garlic mashed potatoes instead of fries for an extra cost. Unfortunately, the scallops were slightly over-fried, the mashed potatoes lacked seasoning and garlic, and the tartar sauce tasted like it came from a jar rather than being house-made. To finish, we shared the Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich, filled with ice cream and topped with a chocolate drizzle. While I typically enjoy desserts, this one was overly sweet for my taste. This is for our visit today August 23rd. The review I did a couple of months ago was 5 star excellent however this visit turned out to only 3 stars for one reason only- the waitress. From when she first walked over we could tell Wendy was not in a good mood. Not friendly, not pleasant and nothing like all the young folks we encountered there on previous visits. The young folks here today came over to pick up dishes and were so nice and pleasant I wish one of them waited on us. I was so disappointed in our visit here last night. We have been coming to the cape my entire life and never tried Captain Parker's. We wanted a light meal after a week of fried food because on cape your options are Fried, Pizza, or fine dining and you have to eat your meals before 8 or they roll up the sidewalk. The food: plump well cooked clams that were plentiful in the chowder. Good flavors came through however the flavor was overwhelmed by salt! To the point it was inedible after a few bites. We also ordered a Caesar salad which was good, generous amount of shaved Parmesan on a bed of Romaine. My order was the grilled Cajun chicken sandwich which came with "fries". Both my sandwich and the fries would have benefited from some salt as they were flavorless. The saving grace to the sandwich was the Cajun aioli without it I'm not sure I would have tasted anything. One of my friends told me about this restaurant, and it was well worth it. Even though there is a line, it still counts as a stop. If you want a quick ride here, come for an early dinner, just like we did. I was personally turned off when I came in, and was waiting until the hosts greeted me. I then made eye contact until I said hello, and told them how many for a party, and then took care of it. Kind of unprofessional to my option. I was thrilled with the choices offered here, and the burgers are what jumped out. There aren't many choices in that category, but it still makes it tasty. The meat cooked medium had the flavor.
