Ordered 3 frappes, each $9+. Two were only filled about halfway; the third tasted like straight syrup. When I went back to ask why, the server explained: "Our cups are narrow, and frappes only get 2 scoops of ice cream, so that's what you get." If the frappes don't fill the cups, maybe use smaller cups? And that still doesn't explain why 1 out of the 3 was filled properly while the other 2 weren't. Ice creams are amazing and so tasty! The service is okay but not very friendly. However, the interior of the restaurant is very clean. They do a good job keeping it tidy. The ambiance is acceptable, but the restaurant is not a comfortable environment due to the lack of tables and seating. There are only three tables, but many seats. It seems designed primarily for pickup, allowing customers to eat their ice cream in their cars. If you don't mind picking up ice cream only, there are great choices available for you. However, if you want to stay inside the restaurant, that might not be ideal for you. There aren't any outdoor tables either. Additionally, there are no high chairs for babies, which is quite disappointing for an ice cream restaurant. They actually put a dollop of hot fudge at the bottom of the cup before the ice cream goes on. It's great because you get to finish with hot fudge rather than running out. Both ice creams were about the best I've had in a long time. The rum raisin had loads of raisins and incredible rum flavoring. The frozen pudding was loaded with fruit and, again, the flavor was superior to any other frozen pudding I've had. Both ice creams were super smooth and creamy. We also ordered a pistachio cone and there was no disappointment with this ice cream either. Great pistachio flavor and plenty of pistachios. Service was quick and friendly. Cape Cod may have more ice cream places per capita than any other place on earth. You can't go 5 miles without passing 2 ice cream shops! So it's tough to pick where to go, so many of them end up being pretty standard ice cream stands with the same flavors and same dull bases. We picked a spot nearby (out of the 10 close by) that had a bit more interesting options, and it worked out decently. I got Cinnamon Graham which they said tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but ended up being close to a cinnamon Teddy Graham to me, which is yummy, but definitely needed a mix-in, chocolate would have been a good addition. Em got the Apple Pie flavor, which was ok, the sugary apple chunks were a nice addition, but I would have loved some crunchy crust pieces in there to balance the sweetness and add some nice chew factor. Lauren got the Chocolate Peanut Butter, which was a chocolate base with peanut butter swirled through, and the peanut butter definitely dominates, which is a good thing as the chocolate base was just ok (it needed more of a deep bitter chocolate flavor), but overall a good flavor. And finally, Noah got the Salty Oreo, which was by far the best, salted caramel Oreo, always a good combination (thank you JP Licks for keeping this on your menu, still the best version of this!). I am always disappointed when you can't get more than one flavor in the smaller size especially when sampling is on hiatus for COVID and since the small is basically 2 and half scoops it could definitely be split up. I did love that they had a ice cream cone in the shape of a bowl (with chocolate dipped edges), points for ingenuity! Overall, some good interesting flavors, and a half out of five cones. We visit the Smuggler every time we visit Cape Cod. The new location is clean and spacious and, best of all, the great home-made ice cream we love in a variety of flavors. 2 or 3 vegan varieties, a couple of yogurts, too. The hot fudge and whipped cream are simply divine and according to Chef Ming Tsai, the best hot fudge sundae he has ever eaten. We agree!
