I enjoyed the Coin Margarita and the smothered tots, not the healthy choice but super yummy. I also tried the ratatouille tacos and they were good. Corn tortillas aren't my favorite so I wish they had an option for flour (but maybe there was and I just didn't notice). Mid food and deceptive pricing practices. They hide a service charge in the bill and don't even give you a paper check, so you don't even know that you are getting charged the hidden fee until after paying and can't adjust the tip accordingly. Won't go back. read more

Tried this place out last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I was sad to see 4 Barrel close down but am happy we have a new good place in town. The happy hour is excellent with several food and drink choices and they have it daily. I'm a big fan of crunchy and soft paired together so the crunchy tacos are totally up my alley. The bar is uncomfortable. I ordered the burrito with green chili. The green sauce was not very good. It was bad as canned Stokes green chili. The bar has little to offer other than tequila. Decided to come in for a quick lunch and wanted to finally give Cochino Taco a try. Immediately we noticed how friendly the servers and bartender were. They were all genuinely in a great mood and were very welcoming. The next thing that stood out is that it's happy hour every day from 11am to 6pm. The prices are very reasonable during this time. Even in the regular menu, the prices aren't bad. The restaurant was clean and not too crowded. As for the food. I had a bowl of pozole, our daughter had the kids chicken quesadilla and my husband had the Cochino Cesar salad. My pozole was good, but a little bland and needed some salt and a little less hominy. I still enjoyed it. My husband Cesar salad was good, but they put a lot of croutons in it (like beyond the normal amount) and that kind of threw him off. I did like the waiter unfortunately his suggestions as far as getting the shaggy tacos were not on point the tacos tasted like dog food unfortunately it wasn't really what I was looking for the drinks. Well, the beer is OK. That was pretty good otherwise I guess the chips were pretty good, otherwise I did see other people leave their meals half eaten so that's just a really big indicator that food not really that great. If a two-star Applebee's and a run down tex-mex restaurant had a baby, this would be their child. Never have I eaten such overpriced and horrible tasting mexican food. The trio of salsa tasted dull and freshly thawed from the frozen bag it arrived in, the corn/flour tortillas tasted processed, and the taco meat (chorizo & carne asada) was flavorless and old. A New addition to Old Town Arvada which features a cool indoor vibe and outdoor firepit..I love the atmosphere here, featuring a casual cool Colorado vibe with delicious tacos of every kind; including shaggy style, a crunchy taco with your choice of filling, wrapped in a flour tortilla with queso and beans. You can customize any creation here mixed with amazing Mexican flavors! I was completely impressed with their MANY margarita choices with fresh agave and aloe infusions. I loved the Sangria which included boozie berries, (Fruit soaked and infused with Tequila goodness) I have never had a Sangria with brandy before and now I am hooked. One notable star of the entire meal was the Cookie desert, a crispy sopapilla and butterscotch ice cream with a chocolate drizzle covered in powdered sugar. Our family was looking for a Mexican restaurant and we found this place. It was a small restaurant but I'm so happy that it had great customer service and we came just in time for happy hour. For a place centered on tacos, with a big draw being all-day happy hour with great taco deals, the tacos are shockingly bland. A surprising failure from the folks behind the sorely-missed Squeaky Bean. I stopped in on a Monday & ordered the crunchy beef tacos (2 for $6) and the chicken soft tacos (2 for $6). The happy hour options seemed to mimic Taco Bell. Meat, packaged shredded cheese and lettuce. An option to wrap your crunchy taco in a flour tortilla with beans & queso. To set themselves apart from Taco Bell, the tacos both come with crema and a red salsa. The meat was plentiful but flavorless. The enhancements of crema and salsa? Crema was bland, the salsa was under-seasoned and not even vaguely spicy. I asked for extra salsa so I could absolutely soak my taco in it, and it was still bland. I ordered a side of pickled jalapeños...they were haphazardly cut, dried out, and stale. (BTW good pickled jalapeños aren't complicated--I make them at home. These seemed like a sad afterthought at an up-charge.) I appreciate the appeal of a good happy hour with decent food (that's why I was there!) but, in my honest opinion, you'll get better tacos at the actual Taco Bell. Eat at TB and then come for the drink specials and good service, maybe. read more

Happy hour is awesome. $5 margs were great. Their happy hour consists of drinks, tacos, and appetizers. Their tacos were pretty good. I recommend the El Pastor and the SQUASH RATATOUILLE. The carne asada taco was delicious as well. Service was fast and drink were amazing. Love the atmosphere. Parking is a pain but you can park on the street. read more

Jalapeño sauce tastes like it was filtered through wet dog hair. It just isn't good. The fancy salsa's aren't good either.

I've been here twice now. The tacos and margaritas are amazing. Everything is fairly priced, especially during happy hour, which is daily from 11-6. The service is always fast and friendly. We decided to eat at this place based on the delicious descriptions of the menu. We realized it wouldn't be an authentic Mexican experience, but decided to give it a shot anyway. I ordered the crunchy ground beef tacos, which sounded great as described on the menu. The description said they came with beans and Queso in between the hard shell and the soft shell which is known as "shaggy style". I also ordered them with pickled jalapeños. After eating the first bite, I was severely underwhelmed. There was absolutely no seasoning in the ground beef. When ordering a ground beef crunchy taco, you expect the delicious mix of cumin, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, etc. I don't even think there was salt in it. Additionally, the "Queso" that was between the hard shell and soft tortilla was just unmelted shredded cheese that had clearly come straight from a bag. And to top it all off, the pickled jalapeños didn't have any flavor. My friend ordered the enchiladas which had no enchilada sauce on them, just cold, bland salsa verde. Another friend ordered several soft tacos and they were not double tortilla-d, so they busted open while she was eating them. We were very disappointed in our meal. The waiter was kind and comped my friend's crunchy ground tacos (because she didn't even eat them, they were that bland). I was hungry enough to eat my tacos, they just didn't taste like anything unless I drowned them in hot sauce. I'm hoping they took our criticism to heart and put some seasoning in that ground beef, otherwise, I'm not sure why people are ordering those tacos unless it's their first time and they don't know better. read more

I'm not sure why this place has so many poor reviews, because It's become one of my personal favorite takeout spots. Anyone who compares this restaurant to Applebee's or says it's one of the worst Mexican restaurants in the area clearly has no sense. I can think of at least a dozen Mexican restaurants nearby that don't hold a candle to Cochino. When it comes to tacos in Arvada, this is the place to go. Their food is far superior to Fuzzy's, R Taco and Torchy's (with much improved service). The shaggy style crunchy tacos, pork belly tacos and guacamole tostada are my favorites. I definitely think they have room for improvement. For instance, their queso isn't as fresh as I would prefer, the portions of salsa are a little small on the individual tacos and the burgers are often cooked overdone. But are they deserving of all the bad reviews they've received, certainly not. read more

if I can give this place NO stars I will. this was one of the worse experiences ever. the waiter was so racist and rude. my boyfriend and I Mexican, came here and only ordered 4 tacos. took 1 hour and 35min to get our food and drinks. we noticed NOT 1 time did our waiter come and check up on us but the other customers(white Americans) were very taken care of and checked up on. as soon as the food arrived we took a bite and notice it was cold, my boyfriend & I quickly ran to to the restroom came back quickly took abother bite and food was nasty and cold. we let the waiter know immediately a getntalmen(Zach Reyholds) was so rude, claimed he saw us head to the restroom as to why the food was cold. so your telling me it took 1 min for the food to get cold? I have pictures of the tortillas rised up of how cold and old it arrived. The house/coin margarita was so sour we had to order a Sprite on the side to be able to drink them. Someone in our group had a mimosa and said it was the most sour grapefruit juice and first champagne. The service was very slow even though it wasnt too busy. When the food arrive the fried chick taco was very disappointing it was basically a super thin small piece deep fried. It was extra rough and chewy. It was also $8 and not worth it at all.
